Home Slice reminded me of some of the Midwest/East coast small, full of character pizza spots. Mixed seating including Booths with some fun artwork/Celebrity photos and an ample patio area. The slice (huge) selection was dizzying in a good way. We ended up getting a couple of pies. Pepperoni and White Pie with Spinach. New York style crust and on the thinner side with generous toppings and a nice balance of sauce and cheese-delicious! Take out was seamless and fast. Friendly people behind the counter. Started in Austin and great to see them in H town!

    Make your own pizza kit

Stopped by to grab one of their make-your-own pizza kits and it absolutely delivered. The kit comes with dough, sauce, cheese, and spices. I had my own pepperoni at home, so I added that into the mix. I baked it on a pizza steel, and the crust came out beautifully crisp on the bottom with that perfect chew inside. Honestly, the dough alone is worth the trip. It's miles better than any store-bought dough I've tried. It stretches well, bakes evenly, and actually tastes like proper pizza shop dough. If you're serious about home pizza nights, this is a cheat code. I've also been to the Midtown location before on Election Day for the free voting slice, which was a great community touch. That said, parking can be tight. Last time I went, someone who clearly didn't need it was parked in the handicap spot because they were "just picking up." I politely asked them to move. They weren't thrilled, but they did move in the end. It would really help if there were a smoother pickup option for Uber Eats or DoorDash drivers, maybe even a quick street window setup, to ease the parking squeeze. Overall, the pizza kit was a big win. Great dough, easy setup, legit results at home. Five stars for letting me pretend I'm running my own little pizzeria for the night.

Home Slice Pizza is a great spot for late-night dining with friends. The service is friendly and fast, and indoor seating is tight but has a cozy, vintage interior; outdoor patio seating is also available! But don't get me started on the parking situation... to put into perspective, my friends & I had parked our cars at Axelrad on Halloween and walked to Home Slice because we agreed it was too much of a hassle to find parking here. Regarding the food, they occasionally switch up their pizza menu, so it's not always consistent, but I can't say anything I've ordered so far has blown me away. I've visited about 2-3 times already, and most recently I ordered one slice of the Pepperoni with Cherry Peppers, which was not too filling, but satisfying. I made sure to sprinkle my order with red chili peppers. The slices are reminiscent of NY-style pizza, so there was a thin, crispy crust/breading! The spice was subtle, but not overpowering; overall, the pizza was tasty and not too oily or salty. I can't say there's much that differentiates Home Slice from any other pizza shop in Houston. Nonetheless, it is a reliable, consistently high-quality establishment that's perfect for a night out!

    Interior

A fan favorite from Austin that I'm just now getting a try with at the Houston location. I really liked the original and think this one does well to recreate the same flavors. This is quintessential late night pizza, the pie you get after you helped your buddy who just got divorced move into a 1 bedroom apartment. The toppings are the most creative or artsy or high brow, they're American pizzeria staples. The bottom of the crust is toasted to almost cracker like crispness and edge stay chewy and light, definitely elevated from your typical post-bar night pizza. The white clam pizza was something different expcially for this houstonian, and I appreciated the New England flair. The interior is smaller with not the largest selection of seating, but the patio makes up for that. It's covered and has plenty of fans and a decent environment to stick around and munch at.

Located in Midtown / South Downtown north of the freeway. Interior is cozy and there's some shaded outdoor seating. Service is minimal, you order at the counter, and get brought your food, and that's it. Got their supreme and clam pie along with a slice of their grannie style square slice. Square slice- 2.5/5. Not my favorite square slice, the crust needs some work and I'm not a fan of their particular tomato sauce White clam pie- 3.5/5. Interesting to see a New Haven inspired pie in Houston but this wasn't as good as expected vs the real pie up north. The crisp of the crust is good but it doesn't have the NY feel that Romano's has Supreme pizza- 3/5. It's alright in terms of the toppings; should've gone for the pepperoni or cheese

Fantastic pizza spot with its roots in Austin. This location absolutely delivers on both taste and quality. The service is solid, friendly, and genuinely fun to chat with. Seating inside is limited and parking can be a bit tight, but it's an easy short walk to the door. Inside feels cozy, and there's a heated patio that's perfect during cooler weather. It's well worth the drive from the suburbs for a truly great slice. This isn't kid-style pizza--this is legit, NYC-style pizza done right.

    Italian sub and chef salad

Always love home slice. Their pizza is thin and crispy and they have the best Italian sub. The only annoying part is the parking. They have like maybe 6 spots in their parking lot otherwise you have to try to street park which can be difficult because the area around it is typically busy.

Yum! I am a huge fan of Home Slice Pizza in Austin, and I'm glad that I finally had the opportunity to visit the Houston location. I was worried that parking would be a pain, but thankfully they have a small parking lot and I was able to find a space. The overall vibes are very Austin-y and weird, and I really liked how they had pictures and autographs of celebrities who have visited previously posted throughout the restaurant. You order at the counter and have the option of ordering individual slices. The staff was super nice and knowledgeable. Inside seating is quite limited but I was able to get a table. Outside seating is ample and there were definitely a few patrons eating outside. The family size salad was very tasty and dressed well, but it was quite expensive for the portion size in my opinion ($22). It was served with garlic knots which had a great chew and flavor. The white clam pizza was glorious. They are super generous with the clam topping, and the dough is aged perfectly and has a wonderfully chewy texture that you would expect in a great pizza. My diagnosis: Come to Home Slice for excellent pizza and Austin vibes.

    6. Sausage, Ricotta Cheese and Roasted Red Peppers Pizza
    Serena S.

Perfect spot with the best proximity to nightlife. We walked over late on a Friday and the place was buzzing- most of the tables inside and out on the patio were full. We went with the tried-and-true medium sausage, ricotta cheese, and roasted red pepper pizza, and it came out in about 15 minutes. Pretty impressive considering it was piping hot and fresh. The guy running orders was a machine- calling out names nonstop but still managing to stop, help people, and keep moving without missing a beat. I loaded my pizza up with oregano and red pepper flakes, and wow, it was perfect. Even the leftovers the next day tasted amazing. I've got a solid appetite and three slices did the job, so I'd definitely recommend ordering a whole pie over paying per slice.

The place has really cool vibes, I love the lowlight and colorful lights it adds a lot of character, I usually just run in and grab a simple slice of pizza. It's cheesy, crunchy and hot! You can also order a side of ranch for dipping! I do like that they have a small bar as well. You just walk in, order at the counter and they'll call your name for you to come pick it up! (No servers) Perfect place to grab a slice, some wine and sit on the patio under some cool lights!

    Eggplant pizza - fantastic!

Okay, Houston, we did not come to play--Home Slice Pizza has entered the chat, and honestly? It's giving some of the best pizza in town. As someone who's been to the OG location in Austin (yes, I'm bragging a little), I can confirm this spot is holding its own. Same delicious energy, no I-35 traffic. The pizza? Absolute perfection. We tried the eggplant pizza--crispy, savory goodness--and the margherita, which was chef's kiss simple yet divine. The large pizzas here are huge. Like, "could double as a flotation device" huge. Every bite is delicious, with crusts so perfect you'll be ashamed if you leave them behind. The vibe? Immaculate. Funky décor, great music, and both indoor and outdoor seating so you can people-watch or soak up the Houston humidity (your choice). They serve wine, beer, salads, sandwiches, calzones, and antipasti too. Basically, if carbs are your love language, this place speaks it fluently. Now, let's talk parking. Or as I like to call it: The Midtown Hunger Games. It's rough. No sugarcoating it. You'll circle the block like you're in a Mario Kart loop. And yes, lock your car--this part of Midtown isn't a total sketch-fest, but you're not in the 'burbs either. Still, worth it? Absolutely.

I've had the pizza in Austin. Pizza is definitely good. But the sandwiches are awesome. The only thing is to wish the sauce was more vinegary. 6 inch was huge. So it was definitely enough. Will come back for sure

Not the best place, bad customer service from the cashiers. The pizza itself is yummy though.

Ask the Community - Home Slice Pizza

Is there an option to order by the slice vs the whole pie?

Yes you will be able to order by the slice.

Do I need extra cheese to get cheese? You get the question.

I think i get it. The pizza I got had plenty of cheese - great ratio. I didn't try the regular cheese slice so I'm not sure how that one is. The good news is they sell it by the slice too so you can try it before you get a full pie. Enjoy!

    Is there parking here?

Yes there is a small parking lot along with street parking.

My pizza was ready on time and the service was great although our interaction was brief. It's a thin crust pizza and the edges were just perfect out of the oven. The chimichurri worked perfectly with the smokiness of the chicken. The cheese was so fresh and the sauce flavorful. Next time I'll order it well done because the toppings made it a bit soggy in the middle the next day. I can't wait to try more on the menu! The space is small and has patio seating. Walking in there a couple seats to the right, menu is on the wall to the left, and order & pickup counter in the center. I ordered the Coffee Cowboy pizza and a full order of Dad's Bruschetta (Dad OG's). It took quite a while for the food to be ready, as it was a Friday, and was just blowing up on social media. So I recommend ordering online beforehand, I also noticed while waiting for my food to be ready, that the staff taking orders were bias towards certain customers but that could just be me. There are more tables and seating outside in front with napkins rolls available which I sat at when the food ready. The Coffee Cowboy pizza had coffee-crusted hereford flank steak, smoked onion bianco sauce, mozz, white cheddar, caramelized onion, smoked salt, and truffled arugula. But sadly wasn't to my liking along with the Dad's Bruschetta. Overall, food wasn't really to my liking, and recommend ordering ahead of time.

The atmosphere is somewhat dingy, but not in a dirty way. Rather, it just felt like they spend so much time turning out wonderful pies that they really don't have time to touch up the paint. Seating is limited. We found a table in the loft, and it was just fine. It's counter service here, and the young lady who took our order was polite and efficient. Parking, by the way, is on the street or in one of the nearby garages. Most importantly, the pizza here is really good. The atmosphere reminded me of so many pizza joints in NYC, as did the pizza -- thin, foldable crust and a tomato-forward sauce. The cheese is top notch, as is the uber-thin pepperoni and fresh mushrooms. Slices are available, and seemingly popular, but we ordered a whole pie. I understand that this place is open until the crack of dawn for all the bar-goers. During our visit, however, we were the only customers without kids -- or infants. Yep. It was Romper Room for sure. All of that to say that drunks might get their 3 a.m. pizza fix here, but so too do young families patronize this place much earlier. Fun experience. Wonderful pizza.
