Returned for Southern comfort food. Casual service with order at the front and bring food to your number. Pluses 1. Ample indoor dining and outdoor patio 2. Ice tea had three flavors 3. Chicken pot pie was personal size and was good value for $15 with two sides 4. Mac and cheese very cheesy and good texture 5. Cup of gumbo was good 6. shrimp and grits was good Areas to improve 1. He thought the jambalaya was not very good 2. The corn bread was warm but too dry for me, it was difficult to swallow even with the butter We will be back to try other specials. I'm curious to try their Shepherds pie.

I absolutely loved this place! The prices I felt were very reasonable for the amount of food I received. I had the chicken fried chicken and felt like the batter was perfectly cooked, flavored, and crispy, which I love. The chicken was also juicy, which was really nice. I had the brussels sprouts and macaroni and cheese as my sides, which were both fantastic! I especially loved the fried deviled eggs as an appetizer. Customer Service was super friendly and helpful and the service was very quick. I love the atmosphere and outside patio area. Overall, I will definitely come back.

+Customer service was excellent. +The 8oz chicken fried chicken and two sides ($16.00) was delicious. -The large beef and bean chili with rice and onions ($9.50) was okay. -The complimentary bread was meh. If they improve the complimentary bread, this place would be 5-stars.

Treebeards off the Katy Freeway - Solid Comfort Food in a Convenient (but Tricky) Spot We stopped by Treebeards on the Katy Freeway in Houston, Texas, and it was exactly what we needed for a hearty lunch. Finding the place can be a little confusing if you're coming right off the Katy Freeway because of the unique building structure it's tucked into -- just take it slow and you'll spot it. Once you're there, though, there's plenty of parking in the shared lot. Fair warning: it does get very crowded since so many other restaurants and retail spots share the same area, so you might have to circle a bit during peak times. The atmosphere is really nice and relaxed. They have seating both inside and outside, with plenty of tables plus some comfy couches where you can settle in and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. You order at the counter when you walk in, then grab a seat wherever you like -- super straightforward. We went with the gumbo, two orders of the chicken pot pie, and a shepherd's pie. Overall, the food was good -- solid, comforting, and filling -- but it wasn't quite amazing. We've definitely had better versions of the shepherd's pie, chicken pot pies, and gumbo at other spots around Houston. That said, the sides were legit! The macaroni and cheese and red beans and rice were both tasty and hit the spot. The jalapeño cornbread had great flavor, but man, it was extremely dry. Like, the kind of dry where you take a bite and immediately need a big swig of your drink to get it down. For dessert, we split the yellow cake with chocolate frosting. My wife really enjoyed it, though I'm not a huge fan of that style. I did notice they offer bread pudding, so I'll definitely be trying that next time. All in all, Treebeards delivered a satisfying meal in a chill setting. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in the area and craving some down-home comfort food.

This is the best location for Treebeards thanks to the ample parking and the hours. The food is excellent. If you're sitting in the bar area there is a waiter, but otherwise it is a counter service and then the food is brought to you. You can get your own tea and fountain drinks and also silverware. The red beans and rice are a staple and something I get every time I am in town.

Treebeards was amazing! Beautiful Ambience Lots of Good Choices Amazing Desserts. A nice spread for a reasonable price and lots of parking! They have a garage. We went here for our couples dinner and stayed until closing time, the service was quick and easy and the food was delicious, the wait staff was nice and accommodating, only thing is you have to remember to order before you sit. Worth a try!

I got the daily special chicken fried chicken with dirty rice and French fries. The chicken was crunchy and tender enough to cut with a fork. The dirty rice has banana peppers or some sort of yellow pepper that I not a big fan of but still was very good. French fries were fresh and crispy, if it was hit with a little more salt fresh out the grease it would be perfect, still good. The gravy was also delicious. Plus they gave complimentary bread, although I did not try it. Overall I'd give it a 7.7/10 for taste and 10/10 for price. This meal was only $11.20 and with tip $14.50!

Let's come right to the point Shrimp étouffée delicious good flavor lots of vegetable In order to make it more flavorful, you do have to put their sauce the hot sauce, one of the best you can even use Tabasco fried deviled eggs oh my God, so delicious and then we had vegetable soup all this food you need to add sauce to it to bring out the flavor go ahead enjoy that southern style. Best food you won't regret it. very reasonable price good quality good quality

Ordering was a breeze. We sat our self and waited maybe 15min if not less then our food was served. All the staff were nice. Love the indoor / outdoor seating. Fried deviled eggs.....over priced but the flavor was a 10/10 Mac n cheese 9/10 Greens 8/10 Bbq shrimp and grits 8/10 Shrimp étouffée 9/10 The food needed to be served hot and not room temp.

I wasn't sure what to expect as this was an impromptu visit and I hadn't looked at the menu in advance. I had the chicken pot pie, green beans and mac and cheese. Everything was delicious!! Good, solid southern food. I'll definitely be back to try some more.

I have a super helpful Yelp Elite mentor who lives in Houston. This individual says Treebeards is one of the three top foodie hot spots in all of Houston. That's good enough for me. My Yelp mentor says the service is 5-Star. Like all Yelp Elite folks, my Yelp mentor says, the atmosphere is perfect" Five Lone Stars! At Treebeards, every meal means time to celebrate! Go there and two-step and swing with authentic truly Western USA folks with can't miss scrumptious chow. Howdy Y'all Peace, Mark C

Instead, it is about the way we were treated by the hospitality manager, Kryssalyn Bayne. Our party consisted of five people, including a 97-year-old senior citizen. When we arrived, four of the five members of our party were present, and there were no guests waiting to be seated. However, Ms. Bayne was focused solely on the fact that one member of our party had not yet arrived. She informed us that other guests had been seated because they had called ahead, although this option had never been communicated to us during any of our previous visits. What was most concerning was not the seating policy itself, but the manner in which we were treated. Ms. Bayne's demeanor was loud, confrontational, and, in our opinion, disrespectful. We had all just come from church and were simply trying to understand the restaurant's policy. When I politely suggested that she lower her voice, she responded by accusing me of speaking disrespectfully to her staff, despite the fact that I had not spoken to anyone other than her. Grace's has always been known for its hospitality, which made this experience especially disappointing. I believe the front-of-house staff, and particularly those in leadership positions, would benefit from additional training in customer service, de-escalation, and professional communication. Every guest deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect, regardless of the circumstances. Unfortunately, this interaction overshadowed what should have been a pleasant meal and family gathering. We were seated at Table 14 & served by Mr Lewis who was a breath of fresh air. The food was good despite the entry.

We began with the cast iron cornbread, Cajun poppers, and chargrilled oysters, and every appetizer was packed with flavor. The cornbread was warm and delicious, the Cajun poppers were a standout, and the chargrilled oysters were cooked perfectly. For our entrees, we ordered the shrimp etouffe and the filet and frites. The etoufee was pretty good, though not my favorite. The filet was tender, perfectly cooked. Even the cocktails were delicious! Everything we tried was memorable, and the entire meal exceeded our expectations. I would absolutely return and highly recommend Eunice!

Unfortunately, the overall dining experience was disappointing due to both the service and the food quality. Our server was very slow throughout the evening. After ordering cocktails, it took approximately 20 minutes for them to arrive. We then ordered our meals... I had the burger and fries, while my girlfriend ordered the shrimp and grits. Both dishes were noticeably over salted. After finishing our meals, we waited an additional 15-20 minutes just to receive a dessert menu. Eventually, we decided not to wait any longer and went to Dessert Gallery down the street instead. While the atmosphere and appearance of the restaurant were excellent, the slow service and food issues negatively impacted the experience. Based on this visit, I would likely not return.

Listen! I know good soul food, and this spot here has "hit the spot!" But because it's Friday, it's…read moreCatfish Friday! So I quite naturally ordered the max. piece catfish (3 pc.) with fries and greens, and OMG! The flavor, the crispiness! Just like I fry it! Excellent customer service! Needless to say, this is now my "catfish spot" whenever I visit the area again. For dessert, I had the peach cobbler. Another hit! So balanced with flavor and sweetness! My family had the oxtails and blackened salmon. They are licking their fingers! Why is this place not rated a perfect 5?! You better believe they get 5 stars from me! Earned! (Sorry, I ate my fish and peach cobbler before I realized I didn't take a pic. And the presentation was magnificent on all plates!)

I ordered the turkey wings which came with rice & 2sides with cornbread. I got the black eyed peas & greens with no meat in my greens. The standout for me were the black eyed peas. They were excellent. Everything else was just ok. I liked that everything wasn't overly salty. It just lacked that extra kick. The serving sizes were pretty good & I have plenty leftovers. I would be back again to try another dish because I feel for soul food this was pretty healthy because it was overly salty.
