Excellent service and exceptional work! After the heavy storms and experiencing branches falling on my roof, cars and backyard, I decided to give the trees the much needed trim. I called Aaron and he was able to come out to give me an estimate right away. He explained the process and gave helpful suggestions on the trees. I had three trees to trim, an established Avacado, Tree of Heaven and a Pine. I was contemplating whether or not to get rid of the pine that was making a mess in the backyard and honestly just didn't belong there. As much as I hate to cut down trees and after the consultation with Aaron, I decided to completely get rid of it for various reasons. A crew of four guys came out and trimmed the two trees and chopped up the pine tree all in one day! They were very considerate of my needs and the aesthetics of the trees as well. Called Aaron for an estimate and it took him about a week to call back. Nevertheless, he did and apologized for the delay. We set an appointment for him to come by and not only did he completely blow it off, he never called to say either he couldn't come, or sorry for making you take 3 hrs off work to wait for me. I've known Aaron Robertson for about 6 years. He and his merry band of tree technicians have trimmed my trees 4 times, either representing his previous company, or the latest, June 23, representing his own company, the Tree Of Knowledge. Each and every time he has been helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, and on time. His guys are always very professional and easy to work with - just tell them what you want and they do it. Their experience and artistic sense is very helpful when trying to decide just where to cut. His climbers do not use climbing spikes, unless the tree is dead, so that the trees are not marked by unsightly holes in the bark. They work safely and the guy up the tree will not make a cut unless he is tied securely to the tree. They also protect plants or objects on the ground by roping limbs or pieces and gently lowering them to the ground. Always a great experience working with Aaron. read more

Based on a recommendation from a neighbor (Santa Cruz mtns), I contacted Aaron at Tree of Knowledge and scheduled time for him to come by and see the trimming and tree removal work I wanted done. He was punctual, polite, friendly and honest. We agreed on the trees to cut/trim and set up a date/time. His crew of 4 arrived at the stated time, and after instructions from Aaron, they got to work. I was interested in getting the big oaks and a large pine trimmed/felled more than in chipping or hauling away the chips. To save them some time (so I could get more trimming for my money), all chips were sprayed out on to a dirt area near my driveway, nothing was hauled away, and they never had to move their truck. We also moved all of our cars out of the driveway and out from under the oaks we wanted trimmed, ahead of time. The most important trees to me are a cluster of large, majestic oaks that provide summer shade and some privacy, but had many branches high up (30+feet) overhanging our 2nd story roof and chimney. These trees are also a focal point for the front of our house. So we needed the branches near the roof removed (fire protection), branches low to the ground lifted (fire protection), and the group of oaks trimmed/shaped. Aaron's crew spent the most time on these trees and it really shows -- they looks magnificent! The timing was also good since a few days later we had strong winds and it was probably beneficial to have the big branches a bit lighter... Besides the cluster of oaks, his crew cut, bucked, and chipped a 40+ foot tall, thick pine near our driveway. They also removed (bucked/chipped) a big (thick) but diseased/dying oak down the hill in our backyard. They chipped a burn pile we had nearby, they felled/bucked an oak that was starting to block our southern view, they trimmed 4 other trees near the house, they removed a couple of other small trees that would have been easy for me to do, but was nice to just get it done at the same time. His crew was friendly, worked hard, stayed late, did an extra task or two, and CLEANED UP everything! Highly recommend. read more

Initially, Aaron seemed great, he was super responsive and even came out the day after we talked to give me bid. He seemed knowledgeable and called me the next week to follow up. I told him I'd like them to do the work but wanted to wait have them come out since I wasn't ready for them remove one small tree until I could have a fence installed. He said they were slow and needed work and asked if they could do my job later that same week on 5/27, since they were already going to be in the area for another job. He said they'd come back another time to trim the other tree once my new fence was installed and offered my a $200 discount for agreeing to the last minute scheduling. I agreed and he said they'd be out the morning of 5/27. He texted that morning and canceled due to a family emergency. Fast forward to today, originally he told me they were going to be here this morning, and then this morning said they'd be out in the afternoon. I waited most of the day for them to come, when they hadn't shown up by 3:30 today I checked in and he said his guys were on the way. They showed up at 4:30 to do my job that was going to take 2-3 hours. I let them know I'd didn't want them to get started this late because didn't want to disrupt my entire neighborhood during dinner. I also had made arrangements to have my dogs out of the yard so they could do their work and not have my dogs barking the entire time they worked. Needless to say, I'll be looking for another company to complete my job! read more

Another great experience with Aaron and his crew! They came to clean up some tree debris from the recent storm (PGE cleared it to the side of the road). Aaron's team did a nice job of cleaning up the debris that went a good 50'+ down the slope and cutting up the trunks small enough that I could haul them to my house myself. Neighbor who drove by seemed to think they just threw the debris down the hill (on his side of the property) and created a fire hazard. Took me a few days to see it in daylight, but Aaron was there immediately to make sure the crew did what was agreed (they did) and make sure that I was happy with the work (I was). He took pictures, was more than accommodating and willing to do more work, but we agreed whatever the neighbor was seeing what not in the scope of the job (e.g. neighbor was mistaken about the situation- didn't get out of his car to look down the hill ... whatever was there had been there for quite some time and was completely unrelated to this incident!). Super-responsive, fair, honest, did the work and diplomatically helped me deal with the neighbor using pictures and facts :-). Thanks for the follow-up Aaron - sorry for the hassle. read more

I have many big trees on the sidewalk planted by the city of San Jose that I want to have them trimmed because they have not been trimmed since we bought the property 10yrs ago. I happened to find Aaron on line and decide to try his service. I am very pleased with his team. They are very nice, polite and did any excellent job for my trees. We have had Tree of Knowledge do all of our tree work over the last several years. Since we found them, the thought of using another company has not entered our minds. The work they do is superb.
