We have a large gingko tree on the street in San Jose and some trees in our backyard that was due for a trim. What makes our particular trees especially difficult is that we are on a busy street and it can turn off some tree services (we've actually had an arborist decline our job). NewVista was by far the easiest company to work with - you schedule a time online to get a quote and it was one of the earliest availabilities we saw vs. other companies. They're ISA certified (that's how I found them) and I thought the whole process of working with them painless and simple. We just used them to remove a 20ft tall coastal live oak tree under our power lines that was starting to encroach on our neighbors service drop. They completed the job quickly, and were very careful to reduce damage to the surrounding plants and shrubs. They did a good job on cleaning up and being respectful to the rest of the property. Hired New Vista Tree Service to remove two large liquid amber trees from the front of my house that the City of San Jose ordered to be removed as their roots were doing serious damage to the sidewalk, curb and street (never mind that the city originally planted these trees!). I appreciated that Thomas came to my home to evaluate the project and provided a very competitive estimate. I also appreciated that Thomas is a certified arborist and performed a good portion of the work. They removed the trees, performed the stump grinding and planted the two replacement trees I provided to them, They did the work quickly and did an excellent job cleaning up when the work was completed. Came on time, were friendly and communicated clearly. They were skillful and cautious in how they cut limbs in pieces, lowered them with a rope, and batted them away from 2 cables in the way. In April, 2025, Thomas's crew came out to trim two street trees, both oaks, and a large stand of privets in our backyard. They also trimmed tree branches which stretched out about ten feet over our backyard fence from our neighbor's property (we had obtained our neighbor's permission). I discovered NewVista after they did some tree trimming at my neighbors house. I asked Thomas what he could do for the big Oak tree in the back of our house. As a trained arborist, he was able to provide me with a detailed plan about what should be done to the tree. He provided a very competitive quote and threw in some other minor things that needed work in our yard. On the appointed day, he showed up with his team and they worked extremely hard. Thomas told me he would need to return the next day and would bring an additional climber to make things move along faster. At the end of the 2nd day, the team had done everything we expected and did an excellent job of cleaning up all the debris. Our tree and the yard looks great. Their proposal quotation by Thomas Lamas was competitively priced and had included all their pertinent license, bonding and insurance information up front which was very important to me compared to other vendor's proposals. The tree removal crew had three people, one to climb the tree and trim the branches, one on the ground to collect the slowly rope dropped branches and one to transport the dropped branches to their wood chipper equipment. We have a Meyer lemon tree that had gotten out of control because we didn't know how to trim and prune it. New Vista was able to make a recommendation along with a quote after seeing a photo of the tree. They removed 1 large Redwood tree growing too close to our home. Their certified arborist was able to provide an arborist report for the permit application. On the day of removal the crew showed up on time and were professional. They safely removed the tree in sections and did a great job cleaning up.
