The best local place for getting even large-scale tree and vegetation work done. It's a second generation, family owned company who does great work and gives competitive quotes. I had a large project that they were able to complete in one day that other places would have not only charged more, but I'd have had to wait a few weeks to get the work done. They've also done contract work for big projects as well. Some of you may have seen them working along Highway 17 during the cleanup effort. They review exactly what you need and the health of everything. In some cases, they will cut more or less in some areas to keep the tree healthy and still clean it up. Juan Castro provided great advice on what should be done with the trees, including removal of some large branches overhanging my roof, thinning out the redwood and removing treetops. He provided a very fair estimate and was able to schedule the work 1 day after our agreement to proceed. These guys completely butchered the formerly majestic evergreens at Ida Price Middle School. "Safety pruning" 90% of the tree canopy, hacking off limbs midway with no apparent plan. They are not ISA licensed arborists. Any good arborist knows you don't cut off the ends of evergreen limbs, and don't prune over 1/3 of the tree canopy. What is left will never regrow and stands like utility poles as testament to their lousy work. Hire these guys to remove a tree because they only know how to kill them. Photo says it all. read more

Our neighbors called Huertas to get rid of a palm tree. And I was up in my room for about a couple of hours and I was getting sick and tired of the buzzing noise. I live in Ben Lomond. This firm's work is so fabulous and professional I can hardly see straight. Had a large madrone removed (not healthy) and 50 feet of a monster redwood topped off after part had split and fallen in the storms of last January. AND the fallen 50 feet cut and removed. I'd watched the work this company had done on multiple neighbor properties over the past year and finally engaged them. Price for the work was WAY reasonable, and they did much more than the above. The area for the 50 feet at the edge of my property now looks like a park rather than overgrown chaos. the madrone was bucked into 14" lengths and piled conveniently for me to split. Branches from both trees were chipped, hauled away, and my entire driveway blown really clean. They showed up at 8AM sharp and worked right until 4PM. We called Huerta's Tree Service when we needed to have some large branches of our walnut tree trimmed off. The tree is very large, having three trunks, and some of the branches on one of the trunks were blocking sunlight in our yard and dropping large amounts of debris in our yard. Rey came out and gave an estimate on how much it would cost to trim 4 branches completely off and trim back 2 or 3 other branches just a little. He had a nifty laser pointer that he used to point to exactly which branches we were talking about, so as to avoid any confusion. That was pretty cool. He talked about having the tree pruned so as to not harm the tree, but also how it could be done to make the tree look more in proportion with itself and be esthetically pleasing. I was all for that. The verbal estimate he gave seemed very reasonable and fair. Rey was really friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and easy to deal with. We were scheduled to have the work done in a few weeks and I wanted to get a written estimate on the work, just so as to avoid any possible conflicts or misunderstandings. It took a couple of emails and texts, but we found out that unfortunately, Rey had had a family tragedy. His brother-in-law, Jorge, took over and was as friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and easy to deal with as Rey. Jorge called before his crew arrived on time. We went over and confirmed what work was to be done. He wrote out a written estimate. His four-person crew began work on the tree. It took about two hours to complete the work. Afterward, the crew cleaned up all debris and used the leaf blower to completely blow off our entire large patio, even areas where no tree debris was. They did an excellent job. We now have morning sunlight flooding our yard and our garden loves it. We are hoping that in the fall, we have a lot less tree debris in our yard. When our person's retired we look into a new Tree Services in our area . We have had conversations and estimates with different company in San Lorenzo valley. From the first phone call with Huerta"s tree I new immediately this would be the company I would go with. The customer services was so genuine. Calls were returned promptly and each time I spoke to one of the guys, I felt a kindness that is rare yet so important . A month or more I arranged to have them come out to give a estimate on a tree that was concerning us, for to long. For ourselves neighbors. We met with Omar with Huerta's Tree. His customer service was above and beyond. He expedited the project with genuine kindness, knowledge, efficiently from start to finish. The tree was a hazard and had to be removed. I will not go into the details . I will say that Omar talked with us , heard us, heard our concerns. Omar went above and beyond and talked it over with his company. Had a bit of a mix up with bid we got from Carmelo to trim our large hedges, remove a dead oak tree, weed eat our back lot and shape a archway I created. Carmelo's Crew didn't show up on day scheduled and after no call to explain why or call backs, I contacted Arturo Huerta and he was out the next morning honoring the scope of work and price we got from Carmelo. Pruned my trees and ruined my greenhouse. Nothing was said the day of service that a branch fell on it and busted the frame. I contacted the company about the damage and was told I'd receive reimbursement to buy a new one. I've followed up multiple times to get an update and it comes to "I'll follow up and get back to you" with no response. It has now been almost three weeks and now I'm hearing "the office is closed and I will follow up on Monday". I'm glad my trees look better but now my garden is struggling due to their negligence. I'm upset with how this situation is being handled seeing they damaged my property and are trying to sweep the problem under the rug. read more

Reading the reviews here, I had really high hopes. When Alex and his uncle came out to look at the property they were very nice and assured me the items I requested could be done in a day. They convinced me to pay for a day's work (8 hours) including 4 trees coming down along with a few other small ones and some ground debris (branches, etc) removal. They said Alex would be here the day the work was to be done. Alex was available the morning of the work, but then left, and the workers spent the last 3 or so hours of the day asking me what to do or sitting around. My Spanish is only so good, so the work that was promised was not completed. After talking to Alex, he told me they could come back out the next time they were in the area to remove the ground debris. They were just up the road again, and still no debris removal. Another downside to the work was that while my wife and I were home working, one if the trees they were bringing down fell the wrong direction and hit another tree that was not supposed to come down and that one fell very close to our deck and fence, but no damage was done. I'll consider using Huerta's in the future, but I'll be making it very clear what must be done in order to close the invoice. Hopefully next time I'll get the awesome work so many others reviewers have experienced! read more

These guys are just great. We needed to do some clearing to create a fire protection border. The Huerta trucks arrived exactly when promised. and they worked as an efficient team, with two chain saw cutters and three people hauling and chipping. Most amazingly they worked right in and alongside poison oak. They brought extra chain saws so there was limited downtime for equipment problems. Near the end of the day they asked if we needed anything else, and then happily did it. They were extremely courteous and left the job site clean. We had gotten other estimates, but a neighbor recommended we call Arturo. He immediately inspired trust and confidence. We feel lucky to have a company of this caliber in our area.
