We had a very unruly sycamore tree that had never had professional work done to it. Note that this tree is 20+ years old.We called koala tree service and ask them to come out and give us a bid and take a look at what could be done. The crew is here on time and took great care with the area around the tree. Jesse, their arborist is a skilled artist when it comes to shaping and cleaning up the inside of a tree like this. They spent nearly 3 hours in their trimming and shaping. They brought all the necessary equipment including a bucket truck to get some of the highest areas of the tree along with chipper to dispose of all the debris from the tree. Their clean up was exceptional. Many thanks to Jessie, Mike and the rest of the team for a beautiful job they did and making my tree more beautiful and safer. We hired Koala Tree Care to prune our nearly 100-foot redwood tree. Jesse and his crew did an amazing job. They slimmed the tree's interior and meticulously removed limbs that would allow air flow (and crazy winds from the first storm of the season) to pass through the tree without damaging it. We had a sense of their deep care of the tree and it's health and longevity. Their careful work also promoted an opening for light to pass through the foliage, enhancing the tree's true beauty and the availability of light to our home. Jesse and the crew were communicative, respectful, and punctual. These folx were recommended to me by my hoa because they had been doing the hoa landscaping in the common areas for 20 some odd years. The first year they showed up for a job To trim the flowers off the 2 privet trees in our back yard in our back yard on our own private property for 300 dollars that they ended up changing to 500 dollars. They did not follow directions and ended up dropping alot of branches in a neigbors yard. I asked them to stop doing that because I want to be on good terms with my neighbor especially having just moved here. It felt challenging,convincing them it really was not ok to do that. The workers decided to go to the neighbor and apologize Luckily that neighbor was cool and even agreed to hire them. They agreed to come back the next season and trim the trees in our yard again and our neighbors yard at the same time. This was a pleasing offer since I'm very allergic to this privet that came with the house that hangs over his side and it feels like mace in my lungs, mouth and nose. Before they left though I told them they had only trimmed half of the other tree and I needed them to complete that trim of that tree. They kept insisting the other half of that tree was in someone's yard and would not believe me or look for themselves to see it was in fact a very accessible road that is just rarely used. So They could in fact access it and finish trimming that tree. They eventually peeked over that fence and saw what I was saying and pulled their truck to that side to finish trimming that tree. I breathed in alot of that pollen that day having these discussions with them and it felt like they were kinda abrasive and belligerent on the job while standing on the handrail of my porch instead of a ladder ( which now needs a support beam added cuz it was not built to withstand the weight of a human) They were so different than when they had done the estimate. By the time they finished the job they were apologetic and promised to be back now that they understood the job. I was happy to have them back because I needed the work done. Then this year they didn't do that. They only came back for the neigbor.. They said to call them They didn't return our calls for a while then When they did they refused to do the same job they had said they would unless we agreed to pay 5 times the amount for much more than the previous year and have alot more trees and amount trimmed than we wanted . They wanted 1500 to trim trees that were not even on our own private property. Other wise the job wasn't considered" big enough. " for them and their time. Ok then don't say your gonna come back to do the work again if you're not. They told us to hire landscapers. I have since found out this hoa decided to hire "landscapers" to handle the common areas that were less pricey and I wonder if their snarkiness was because of that decision that had been made by other people. I wrote a review and they told us to call them to work it out and that the owners make deals that the workers are not aware of but it just felt like too much work for me to keep trying to have them be the ones to do the work. We found another company that followed directions and got the job done with grace and ease. read more

We are so blessed to have met Craig. He saved our house single handily in an emergency situation where two redwood trees' root balls were clearly giving way with one leaning toward our house's family room and the other over our built in hot tub. Winds and imminent falling potential eliminated the possibility of climbing. After an all afternoon shoring it up, waiting for conditions, in the wind rain and darkness he arranged a crane and went up in the trees at about 8 pm lifting two trees over our two story home to the street in front. We are stunned at the professionalism and skills of the crane operator Fernando and Craig. Earlier he also dropped a third tree over a fence without hurting the fence! Unreal! As a follow-up to my previous review, we have used Craig's services many times over the past 5 years and have always had outstanding service. During last year's storms, our son had a eucalyptus tree fall on his house. We called Koala and Craig had a crew and the necessary equipment out the next morning to get it removed and the yard cleaned up. It was a difficult, dangerous job, but the crew was extremely competent. Most recently, we needed to have a couple of dying trees removed from our yard. Again, Craig and his crew did an excellent job, removing the trees without damaging any of the surrounding plants (really quite amazing!). I had a very large Pondersa Pine come down during a windstorm at the beginning of '21. The 100'+ tree was leaning over and ready to fall. I called 4 tree service companies. Koala (Craig) called me back in minutes and happened to be nearby assessing another property. The other 3 companies called back 2-3 days later. The tree in question actually fell into two of our neighbor's front yards while I was standing in my driveway assessing our limited options with Craig. Luckily, no one was hurt and no serious property damage occurred. The 2nd tree in my front yard was now leaning precariously over my home. While dealing with the first downed tree, Craig and his team took immediate action on the 2nd tree (thus avoiding imminent danger). They cut down a huge diseased fir tree that was located close to the creek bank on a rare 100-degree weather day in October. We had a yucca that needed a large branch taken off and we asked if they could trim a few palm fronds off of our large palm tree where the ends had started to yellow. When we came outside ALL the palm fronds were gone from our beautiful palm tree. This was the centerpiece of our yard and gardens. We were in shock. We do not understand how an arborist could ever choose to decimate an entire tree. We read up on palm trees and you are only supposed to remove the BOTTOM layer and only if they are yellow. I was then told that I should have been outside watching them if I felt that way, so basically they blamed us for what was clearly a mistake on their part. It would have been nice if they apologized or seemed like they even cared. We miss our beautiful palms every day. read more

I hired Koala Tree Care to grind several stands of contained bamboo out of my side yard (plus 2 palm tree stumps). I had other services look at the job but they didn't think they had enough room to maneuver their grinders.
