They were working for 4-County EPA in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi. How can you run over that many 6x6 posts and T-Posts and not know it. Then they had the audacity to say "I don't believe we did all that", Who the heck else was on that fenced off section of power line with equipment running over my fence and pines that were planted? My neighbor used these folks to trim their large oak tree that overhangs in several neighbors yards. While they may have done a good job on the tree, they left my yard quite a mess, breaking branches of plants and bushes, crushing my small vegetable garden and leaving many branches, plant debris and evidence of their mistreatment. We called Lewis Tree Service to come out and remove four trees and do some assorted tree pruning and trimming. We had what we thought was a tricky situation with two trees that were close to a property line and a nearby house. And one of our tree pruning situations was adjacent to some power lines. So we were a bit on edge. Lewis sent out their staff arborist (Greg) who expertly assessed the situation and advised their crew as to how to proceed. Then they went to work. Manual from the work crew was super friendly and very helpful. From marking the trees and setting up the equipment, clear through to final clean up... everything went perfectly. Our tree situation is now totally resolved. And we were very pleasantly surprised with how nice it all looked when the Lewis team left for the day. This is a terrible company with no consideration for homeowners or their property. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!! This is a company that takes cheap contracts from the electric companies and cut down your trees and leave them in your property with no notice, consideration or respect. After the epic wind storm of January 2021, the top of a redwood tree was partially blocking our driveway. These guys showed up on my property yesterday and started to remove a 100 yr old cypress. I walked down my drive and told them to leave the tree alone. The guy I spoke too had a bad attitude. When i returned to my home they proceeded to cut up my cypress. An hour later I saw them still at the end of my drive and went back down there to see why they where still there. They had an automated chopper sawing away at the trunk. They had already cut off the roots. Their story was..a neighbor asked them to remove it...yet I am the property owner. Dont trust these guys! I had a live oak with a limb that was splitting under the strain of bearing a disproportionately large limb. My arborist, Nigel Belton, had recommended Lewis Tree Service for removing that extra weight to save the tree. I was very happy with Lewis's quick response to my request for a bid, the knowledge and professionalism of the estimator (Tito), and the skills and courtesy of the foreman and his crew. I appreciated their respect for my particularities about which branches, how much, etc. to trim and they didn't even bat an eye when I scuttled out to save a downed spider and scoop up fallen moss for the deer. They even brought me some beautiful leaves from the eucalyptus sapling they cut, and left the place fairly clean, with firewood neatly stacked. I have hired Lewis Tree Service twice. The first time to remove 2 large trees that were growing in a very tight space. They removed the trees and ground the stumps. They left the area as clean as when they arrived. The second time I needed some cypress trees removed as I had scheduled a fence to be built and they were right on the fence line. Tito said that they were pretty booked but since my job was small and could be accomplished fairly quickly he would try to have it worked in if another job finished early. The workers showed up today, only one week after the estimate. Twenty minutes and the job was completed. All of Lewis' staff have been courteous, friendly and know what they are doing. We have used Lewis Tree Service twice in the last few years. Recently they trimmed our trees that border 3 sides of my yard. A bordering neighbor installed a putting green that some of my tree limbs hung over and dropped leaves on the green. The Lewis folks just did a great job removing a dying 75' Monterey Cypress. The tree was about 10' from our home--and uphill--and about 50' from our driveway. We really didn't want any of the surrounding native trees nor a pergola damaged. They removed this tree without any damage to any other tree or structure. They used a crane to remove everything and the crane operator had an amazing ability to thread removed items between, around and over the existing items and our home. And all for a price we found reasonable. We hope no other trees die (this one was planted way out of range by former owners) but if so we'll definitely call Lewis again. read more

Greg Miller came out last week to provide the estimate and said their wait time was 3-4 weeks. The next day the office called to schedule us for the following week! Lewis came to our park and pruned up and cut back the trees all around. We had lots of low hanging branches, low lying trees with cracks and more. They cut one that was over the back of our place, right above my daughters bed. Thank you for cutting it back and cleaning up the brush after. Our driveway was too narrow for bucket lift access, but the climbing crew were able to access and complete the job regardless. I found Lewis Tree Service to be a totally professional operation... from front office administrators Katie and Angel to the work crew doing the heavy lifting outside. Greg, Jose, Armando, and Jorge did a great job at our Scotts Valley commercial properties. I appreciate Lewis Tree Service's responsiveness, excellent communication, and business process. Greg was very careful to fully understand the details of our requirements, walking the property with me and taking notes and pictures to document the needed work. He quickly delivered a quote that allowed us to decide on Lewis Tree Service as our provider. I was pleased that they could provide expedited service to trim a single tree growing on adjacent property that was preventing Green Waste pickup on ours. When they returned the following month to trim the remaining seven trees away from our buildings, they were sensitive to tenant business needs, accommodating them by working from an area that minimized disruption. I'm especially grateful to the crew for exercising caution to protect our new TPO roof during the trimming operations. Worst company ever. They told me they would charge me $345 an hour. They were at my house for 1 hr, 45 mins but tried charging me for 3.5 hours. When I called to inquired they told me they were charging me travel time. Their yard is 5 miles from my house. It does NOT take an hour each way to go 5 miles...at 9:30 am going against commuter traffic. When I questioned why a 5-mile trip took an hour they told me I was also being charged for the time it takes to load and unload the equipment. The got to my house at 9:30am but we're charging me from 7:30am...which is not in any contract! I wish I would have read the a yelp reviews first. These jokers should be in jail. I am calling the Better Business Bureau and anyone else I can find to make sure these creeps don't get away with this. read more

I need to correct something in Lewis Tree Service's reply to my review. As I stated in that review, I had used this company for many years before swearing off them due to their dishonest behavior on their last job. The work I mentioned where we had a dispute about charging for travel time was many years before that job. I have no idea what their contracts look like now (judging from a very recent review I see here, complaining about overcharging, it seems that their current contracts do not specify that travel time will be charged) but at that time LTS did NOT write travel time to and from the work site into their contracts. That is why I argued against the charge and succeeded in having it removed from the invoice. If it had been in the contract, I would have had no argument, right? You see how that works? The reason we kept hiring LTS after that kerfuffle was that the bogus charge was removed. So I gave the manager points for admitting that he was wrong and I was right. By the way, I remember that the manager's excuse for adding travel time to the bill was something vague about how far we lived from their base. Boo boo. You don't get to make up charges after a contract is signed. And as for the "billed in full-hour increments" wording, that does not pertain to the above-mentioned job. LTS had been hired for a full day, at a set price. Maybe they write their bids and contracts differently now. So disregard what the owner of Lewis Tree Service posted in the reply to my review. It says something about the company that the guy essentially called me a liar, regarding the travel-time charge not being in the contract. Nice. read more
