Recently had jobs at my home - removal bamboo rhizomes excavation followed by insecticide treatment few weeks later and removal 50' palm tree & stump grinding and hauled off. Cost also was reasonable. And had no issues with anyone who worked with their company and a smooth transaction. Isabelle, project manager was very attentive to details and promptly responded to all my calls over the process of 2 months. She handled the whole project with professionalism and respect . I highly recommend her and Lewis Tree Service for any future tree service. read more

I thought that the job that was done on my property was subpar. I worked for Davey Tree Surgery Co. for a number of years, have a ISA & NAA certifications. So, when I say the work that was done, per the realtor that we hired, was shoddy, at best Broke a power line insulator Butchered a Eureka Lemon tree Hedged a rosemary bush (not asked to do) Ripped up 3 Geraniums (not asked to do) Stepped on a Fucsia bush (killing it) read more

Lewis Tree Service is amazing! Several branches of large oak tree cracked in the wind today around 3 pm. David came out within 20 minutes. The crew with the crane and chipper was here 20 minutes later. They were efficient and worked well together. By 6:30 the tree was down, the yard was cleaned and they even blew out the gutters on both houses near the tree. Very impressive! read more

Excellent tree service. Returned calls, followed up with questions that I had both text & phone calls. Very knowledgeable & professional. David, Arborist, good source of knowledge & very responsible. Tree service had credentials that made me feel confident in what they were doing. This was a huge eucalyptus tree. Excellent team, 2 in the tree, one on the ground directing, site manager overseeing. Great clean up & removal. Good liaison with backyard neighbor. I felt the price was fair due to all of the labor involved. I would highly recommend Lewis Tree Service. read more

Called them to prune a Laurel Tree in my front yard. They had a good price and could do it quickly so I had them come out. They trimmed it up, and cleaned up afterwards nicely. Easy online payment definitely recommend read more

If you want excellent arborists that respond quickly and provide practical solutions these people are awesome. Worked with them for years !

They ran over about 450 feet of 4 strand barbed wire fence, T-posts and line posts/braces, and didn't bother to report what they did. They were working for 4-County EPA in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi. How can you run over that many 6x6 posts and T-Posts and not know it. Then they had the audacity to say "I don't believe we did all that", Who the heck else was on that fenced off section of power line with equipment running over my fence and pines that were planted? I hope 4 County does not use them in the future. read more

My neighbor used these folks to trim their large oak tree that overhangs in several neighbors yards. While they may have done a good job on the tree, they left my yard quite a mess, breaking branches of plants and bushes, crushing my small vegetable garden and leaving many branches, plant debris and evidence of their mistreatment. I will never use this company nor recommend them to anyone, after what they did to my yard. Professional?? I think not. read more

We called Lewis Tree Service to come out and remove four trees and do some assorted tree pruning and trimming. We had what we thought was a tricky situation with two trees that were close to a property line and a nearby house. And one of our tree pruning situations was adjacent to some power lines. So we were a bit on edge. Lewis sent out their staff arborist (Greg) who expertly assessed the situation and advised their crew as to how to proceed. Then they went to work. Manual from the work crew was super friendly and very helpful. From marking the trees and setting up the equipment, clear through to final clean up... everything went perfectly. Our tree situation is now totally resolved. And we were very pleasantly surprised with how nice it all looked when the Lewis team left for the day. My wife and I love Lewis Tree Service and look forward to working with them in the future. read more

Needed emergency removal of a fallen tree at my rental property. Lewis came same day at a reasonable price.

After the epic wind storm of January 2021, the top of a redwood tree was partially blocking our driveway. Although not an emergency like others were experiencing at the time, Angel at Lewis Tree Service considered my request a priority (amid so many other tree emergencies) and arranged for someone to come out the next day. Greg arrived (even a few minutes early) and helped us remove the tree on the spot ! We were so impressed and thankful. Lewis Tree Service is professional, responsive, qualified, and they are simply nice people. We would definitely use them again for any tree service needs, and recommend them. Thank you Angel and Greg! read more

This is a terrible company with no consideration for homeowners or their property. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!! This is a company that takes cheap contracts from the electric companies and cut down your trees and leave them in your property with no notice, consideration or respect. They have terrible management and are basically pure garbage. Don't hire them for anything private and if you see their trucks, be warned they will just walk on your property and start cutting down trees and leave them in your yard. This review post says I live in San Fransico, but I actually live in NORTHERN VIRGINIA and this company is based out of NY. I can't stress enough avoiding hiring them for anything. This terrible company is just primarily an electric company chop shop and have no respect for any homeowners. read more

I want to share my full-hearted pleasure of working with the team at Lewis Tree Service. From start to finish they were courteous, prompt and thorough. They provided top quality results on a fairly complex job with a large tree located extremely close to an existing structure. I watched them in action and was very impressed with their skill and focus. Upon completion, they cleaned up everything and left the property clean and tidy. Nice work! Thank you! read more

These guys showed up on my property yesterday and started to remove a 100 yr old cypress. I walked down my drive and told them to leave the tree alone. The guy I spoke too had a bad attitude. When i returned to my home they proceeded to cut up my cypress. An hour later I saw them still at the end of my drive and went back down there to see why they where still there. They had an automated chopper sawing away at the trunk. They had already cut off the roots. Their story was..a neighbor asked them to remove it...yet I am the property owner. Dont trust these guys! I am still in disbelief at their behavior and just wanted to share so other people can be aware. read more

We had a huge tree in our yard that needed a lot of TLC. After calling around and getting several quotes, I used Lewis Tree Service Inc. The men who came to do the work were efficient, organized, extremely pleasant, and wore their masks at all times. They did a fantastic job and I think my 40 ft. tree is also singing their praises. With her new wirings to safely secure her, she will have continued growth and longevity. Sincerely, Lynne Caryl Acupuncturist Santa Cruz read more

I had a live oak with a limb that was splitting under the strain of bearing a disproportionately large limb. My arborist, Nigel Belton, had recommended Lewis Tree Service for removing that extra weight to save the tree. I was very happy with Lewis's quick response to my request for a bid, the knowledge and professionalism of the estimator (Tito), and the skills and courtesy of the foreman and his crew. I appreciated their respect for my particularities about which branches, how much, etc. to trim and they didn't even bat an eye when I scuttled out to save a downed spider and scoop up fallen moss for the deer. They even brought me some beautiful leaves from the eucalyptus sapling they cut, and left the place fairly clean, with firewood neatly stacked. AND the price was less than I'd expected, especially for the number of hours and workers involved. I'd definitely recommend them! read more

I liked this company when Nate was in charge. Later the people who came by were not as prepared. Once guy was rude, when i asked him why he was wondering around the complex without letting us know. Then, they seem to overcharge when dealing with HOA. I will not call this company again. read more

I have hired Lewis Tree Service twice. The first time to remove 2 large trees that were growing in a very tight space. They removed the trees and ground the stumps. They left the area as clean as when they arrived. The second time I needed some cypress trees removed as I had scheduled a fence to be built and they were right on the fence line. Tito said that they were pretty booked but since my job was small and could be accomplished fairly quickly he would try to have it worked in if another job finished early. The workers showed up today, only one week after the estimate. Twenty minutes and the job was completed. All of Lewis' staff have been courteous, friendly and know what they are doing. I am very satisfied with the work done and the reasonable price. I would hire them again without second thought and recommend them to anyone looking for professional tree service. read more

We have used Lewis Tree Service twice in the last few years. Recently they trimmed our trees that border 3 sides of my yard. A bordering neighbor installed a putting green that some of my tree limbs hung over and dropped leaves on the green. After Lewis had completed there work, my neighbor requested that the limbs needed to be trimmed back even further. So, I called Lewis and requested I needed them to return. They responded immediately with return date. The team headed by Foreman Steve, crew John and Juan returned and did an excellent job on the follow up. We were so pleased with their work, friendliness, and accommodation. I definitely recommend read more

I can't say enough about these guys! We had to move a huge boulder into a pool. It could have gone wrong easily. Jaben was amazing. He was methodical and worked with us. These guys rock! We had Lewis Tree Svc out to remove a giant old pine a couple years ago and then again today to remove 2 smaller trees and a row of pittosporums. Greg Miller came out last week to provide the estimate and said their wait time was 3-4 weeks. The next day the office called to schedule us for the following week! Once on site, their team was fast, efficient and cleaned up nicely after the demolition. They were even flexible enough to add some extra work during the job today that we originally declined from the estimate. Great service and good prices = 5 stars from me and my husband. We're very pleased with Lewis Tree Svc and definitely recommend them! read more

Lewis Tree Service helped cut down two large trees which were at risk of falling during storms. They provided options for both pruning and removing. Lewis Tree Service has taken care of the trees in my condominium complex for many years. Early every year, before breeding birds begin to build nests in our trees to raise their young, we schedule Lewis to send their arborist to walk our 38-unit complex in Woodland Heights with one of our HOA board members to list any trees with branches too close to our building for trimming, and to check for any hazardous or diseased trees that need attention. Their arborists are knowledgeable and professional, and the crews they send to do the needed work have been reliable. We have found, in the rare instances where something was not done correctly, that Lewis immediately sends someone out to make it right. We also appreciate their dumping mulch from our tree trimming, chipped onsite, for us so we can distribute it around our common area landscape. read more

Lewis came to our park and pruned up and cut back the trees all around. We had lots of low hanging branches, low lying trees with cracks and more. They cut one that was over the back of our place, right above my daughters bed. Thank you for cutting it back and cleaning up the brush after. I hope they can come back next time we need tree work done. Oh and they are efficient and tidy. They did not drag the job out for days and days. They said they would take 2 days to do the majority of the work, and they did. They also swept up all the debris. Thanks! read more

I had to call them at 530am on a Sunday when a giant Cypress tree fell on my house. Someone got here withen 30 minutes! And shortly after they had a whole crew out and kicked that dumb trees butt. They were friendly, quick, and even helped us tarp up the giant hole in our roof. It was such a bad day but the silver lining was having and knowing that there is still hard working nice professional people working in Santa Cruz! read more

The Lewis folks just did a great job removing a dying 75' Monterey Cypress. The tree was about 10' from our home--and uphill--and about 50' from our driveway. We really didn't want any of the surrounding native trees nor a pergola damaged. They removed this tree without any damage to any other tree or structure. They used a crane to remove everything and the crane operator had an amazing ability to thread removed items between, around and over the existing items and our home. And all for a price we found reasonable. We hope no other trees die (this one was planted way out of range by former owners) but if so we'll definitely call Lewis again. read more

Tito and his crew removed a dead giant cypress from my very small lot. They did so masterfully and with grace. This outfit does not respect property boundaries. They did a job on our neighbor's house and trimmed our hedge over a foot into our property. We can now see through our hedge in some places. I have been using Lewis Tree service for around 15 years. They have removed 3 sets of dangerous trees on my property, and also helped out with emergency service after a large oak came down and blocked the private road which I live on. Lewis Tree has a combination of low prices, extremely professional service, and care for their employees that I have never experienced with any other company. In particular, safety for their employees is their highest priority. Tree work is extremely dangerous, and you never feel like they are taking chances to get work done fast or cheaply. They will always get my business. read more

Tito and his crew did a great job of trimming a large Redwood in our back yard. Our driveway was too narrow for bucket lift access, but the climbing crew were able to access and complete the job regardless. The tree looks fantastic, and they chipped and cleared the larger branches on site, cleaning up the smaller debris and leaving the place better than it looked when they started. Would definitely recommend. read more

Lewis Tree service came today to cut down a problematic pine tree that was next door to our office in Captiola. I decided to have eight trees trimmed ahead of the rainy season and settled on Lewis Tree Service to do the work. I found Lewis Tree Service to be a totally professional operation... from front office administrators Katie and Angel to the work crew doing the heavy lifting outside. Greg, Jose, Armando, and Jorge did a great job at our Scotts Valley commercial properties. I appreciate Lewis Tree Service's responsiveness, excellent communication, and business process. Greg was very careful to fully understand the details of our requirements, walking the property with me and taking notes and pictures to document the needed work. He quickly delivered a quote that allowed us to decide on Lewis Tree Service as our provider. I was pleased that they could provide expedited service to trim a single tree growing on adjacent property that was preventing Green Waste pickup on ours. When they returned the following month to trim the remaining seven trees away from our buildings, they were sensitive to tenant business needs, accommodating them by working from an area that minimized disruption. I'm especially grateful to the crew for exercising caution to protect our new TPO roof during the trimming operations. They left the site clean, with the chips left in a tidy pile where we can access them for landscaping use. Many thanks! read more

Worst company ever. They told me they would charge me $345 an hour. They were at my house for 1 hr, 45 mins but tried charging me for 3.5 hours. When I called to inquired they told me they were charging me travel time. Their yard is 5 miles from my house. It does NOT take an hour each way to go 5 miles...at 9:30 am going against commuter traffic. When I questioned why a 5-mile trip took an hour they told me I was also being charged for the time it takes to load and unload the equipment. The got to my house at 9:30am but we're charging me from 7:30am...which is not in any contract! I wish I would have read the a yelp reviews first. These jokers should be in jail. I am calling the Better Business Bureau and anyone else I can find to make sure these creeps don't get away with this. read more

I need to correct something in Lewis Tree Service's reply to my review. As I stated in that review, I had used this company for many years before swearing off them due to their dishonest behavior on their last job. The work I mentioned where we had a dispute about charging for travel time was many years before that job. I have no idea what their contracts look like now (judging from a very recent review I see here, complaining about overcharging, it seems that their current contracts do not specify that travel time will be charged) but at that time LTS did NOT write travel time to and from the work site into their contracts. That is why I argued against the charge and succeeded in having it removed from the invoice. If it had been in the contract, I would have had no argument, right? You see how that works? The reason we kept hiring LTS after that kerfuffle was that the bogus charge was removed. So I gave the manager points for admitting that he was wrong and I was right. By the way, I remember that the manager's excuse for adding travel time to the bill was something vague about how far we lived from their base. Boo boo. You don't get to make up charges after a contract is signed. And as for the "billed in full-hour increments" wording, that does not pertain to the above-mentioned job. LTS had been hired for a full day, at a set price. Maybe they write their bids and contracts differently now. So disregard what the owner of Lewis Tree Service posted in the reply to my review. It says something about the company that the guy essentially called me a liar, regarding the travel-time charge not being in the contract. Nice. read more
