They just cut and trimmed trees on my property on behalf of PGE at the beginning of 2026, left a big pile of tree stumps in the front yard, and refused to take them away. I have talked to them twice about the left-behind stumps. They told me to talk to PGE, and that it was not their responsibility. And PGE disagreed. TL;DR: Destructive, Avoid. Typically PG&E has hired contractors that do good powerline work on my property. Not this time. - The work order clearly said "Call homeowner before tree work - customer wants to be present. But CTS didn't call. Instead, I just happened to find a worker up in my tree one morning. - The worker was wearing *boot spikes*, trying to get a grip with ankles at the top of my Liquidambar, shredding the bark. Spikes are not permitted on live trees (only on telephone poles, dead trees, and emergency rescues). - The heading/topping cuts were made at arbitrary locations, leaving stubs. - Branches were removed on the opposite side of the tree from the power line (presumably to ease access). I ordered the workers off the property, and called their supervisor. The supervisors arrived and agreed that the work was unnecessarily substandard. (They offered to "fix" the problem, by which they meant further removal. I said no.) The practices used are not part of the ISA standard, and no one on the property (including supervisors) had an ISA license. These guys are for demolition / removal, not pruning. I called PG&E after realizing that Core Tree Services, the company on the work order, had apparently subcontracted to Community Tree Services. Probably not what PG&E had intended. read more

Three of their workers climbed my locked gate. There was no work order with PG&E as I verified with Christian of the Aborist division. He told me there have been a lot of complaints of their crews doing this. I did chase them from my property. They are a bunch of rude jerks. I was told when I called that the manager was out in the field and could not speak to me. I said does he not have a cell phone and no response. It has been over two weeks and still no return call. I really wanted to like this company. They came highly recommended from a respected source. When Adolpho came out to discuss the work that was to be done, I liked him and what he had to say. We discussed how and where the cuts would be made on a beautiful and unusual specimen tree that needed to have weight reduction on a branch that had a stress fracture, and also to be reduced some in size. We agreed on a date that the work would be done. I realized a couple of hours later that I had an appointment that morning and called the office to reschedule. The tree crew came on the day originally scheduled, forced open my gate, and to my horror, were just finishing when I arrived home. The crew had not done what I discussed with Adolpho. They had thinned out the interior and removed any possible branches that could be used to shorten and remove weight from the broken branch. This is tree pruning 101.. You do not remove all interior branches as they may be needed to take a damaged branch back to. They did a lot of cutting with a pole pruner leaving stubs. So not only did I not have the weight reduced on the branches, but they increased the possibility of future damage by their uneducated methods. I also needed the skirt of an oak taken up and off utility wires. Because the crew didn't know which oak, they worked on the wrong one. They did the same interior pruning on the oak and also reduced the screening I had from my neighbor's driveway. When they left, I noticed a large oil spill about 18" in diameter in the driveway. I called and Adolpho came out to look at the work. I explained my disatisfaction with the job and we agreed on a date that someone would come out and try to correct some of the issues with the tree. He would also send the crew out with a pressure washer to try to remove the oil. Guess what? They came on the wrong day again. I wasn't here and they tried to clean up the oil. They used a pressure washer with a fine nozzle instead of a fan. My driveway is now etched with squiggley lines. I should say that Adopho was very nice throughout all the mistakes. He was a gentleman and returned the money for the one tree. They did an adequate job (not great cuts, but not awful) on the big oak. Adolpho said they had a lot of work coming up working for PG&E. I would say that's in line with the quality of work that they do. Adolpho seems to know a lot about pruning trees. It's a shame that his crews have not been properly trained and are so arrogant in their ignorance. A friend, who is the leading consulting arborist in the state came over the other day and shook his head in disgust when he looked at the trees. By the way, I have a degree in horticulture and used to have a pruning business. I am told this company has changed hands in recent years. I do not recommend them. read more

Our HOA hired them to trim big oaks and they came, did the job, but didn't trim enough. We asked them to come back, the main issue was to remove the tree branches that leaned on the roof. They claimed they could not do more, and never came back. We ended up having to call another company, and pay again for the job we wanted. I will never call this company again. read more

I got to my work this morning and they were all set up in our Driveway, Not in the Street as they should've been, They cut the tree down, debris and saw dust went everywhere, all over our cleaned cars, No One spoke English so was hard to communicate with them, They actually Flipped off the OWNER of our business, whom got out of his truck standing at 6' 9" tall and now they regretted being jerks, I spent 15 minutes with a push broom cleaning up so my clients didn't have to walk thru debris, it looked as if a hurricane hit, so i called them and they sent him back out, he immediately took picture of the CLEANED up mess to show to his boss, I went out and told him, that i had called and the pictures he was taking were inaccurate as most of it was cleaned up. I recently had the pleasure of having Community Tree Service help remove a huge Oak tree that was in the process of falling over. Aldolfo came out the same day and gave me a fair price He showed up with a Crane and some heavy equipment and performed this Hazardous Removal flawlessly. This was no easy job we had 5 other tree services that didn't want the job. Aldolfo communicated with me and his crew well and went out of his way to do a fine job. I cannot recommend CTS. We hired them to remove some invasive bamboo, and there were several issues with the job: 1. The estimate was extremely vague, and inaccurate: It was for 9 hours and the job took 12, a 30% increase. At $150/hr, I would say that is an inaccurate estimate, and we refused to pay the additional amount. CTS met us halfway, and "only" charged us 15% additional. 2. When Adolfo came over to do the estimate, I explained that we wanted a new barrier around the remaining stand. He knew exactly what I was talking about: a particular type of plastic, put in at a specific angle and depth. Unfortunately, the two guys in the crew hadn't been told about that part of the job (!), and they had no experience with bamboo barriers (I asked). They said that some CTS crews had done this before. (Hmm, why didn't they send one of those crews?) I had them call Adolfo to confirm that that was part of the job. 3. They were only going to set the barrier 6" deep. My husband had to stand over them and make sure they did it correctly. 4. Another very important part of the job was to remove the roots around the outside of the barrier. I discovered the next day that they didn't do this, so they had to come back. CTS "only" charged us an extra $30 for this work (which was part of the estimate). I feel if you have a simple job, CTS is probably ok. If there is anything unusual, though, you'll need it spelled out in the estimate, and you'll need to supervise the crew. Adolfo is knowledgeable and personable, but there is a serious lack of communication between him and his crews. read more

Based on prior reviews, I called and was so impressed that I didn't look further. Pete was prompt, friendly and helpful while giving me his estimate for trimming several of our coastal live oak trees on our small homesite, some of which were overhanging electrical wires and our roof. He and his crew of four men showed up right on time the next day and did a fantastic job, both in their tree work and in their cleaning up. just wanted to let you all know how Community Tree Service treated us as they cut a huge tree off our property. On 5/19/2020, they were on our property preparing to cut an at least 500-foot tree down in our front yard as it was near the power lines. As they were working My husband and I were in the house and heard a large crash a few houses down. Then the power surged for about 30 seconds, On and off, on and off. then out. I was on my desktop at the time and it obviously went off. Our power was off for about 4 hours. My neighbor across the street told me she had a couple of lights "blow up" Long story short, I put in a claim with Community Tree Service a month ago to reimburse me for the new computer I had to buy, and I got a letter today saying that a "third-party investigation" said there was NO blackout that day and they were denying my claim. When I went out and told the tree guys they had blown up my $1100 computer, none spoke English and just kept saying "PGE". So talking to Kenzie today at 831-763-2391 at Community Tree Services, she dismissed me like a bag of shit. I called PG&E after that and told them my complaint and they were very nice, guess had to be since they killed 84 people up in Paradise. OK, back to Kinsie. I asked her to tell me who had contracted them to do the tree service, and she said "I don't have that information" I told her" Bull!, tell me who it was?" She then said. I'm not a liberty to say" I tried to be nice and get the people who did the damage pay up. Now I'm going to the big guys. Prolly will get the runaround for years. Another company that came out didn't even want the job as they were concerned about damaging our driveway pavers and/or existing landscaping. We had to have 7 trees taken down in our backyard, and having just moved to SC, we didn't know about the permit system or anything. We got three bids and this company not only came in the lowest, they also demonstrated the most knowledge about the situation and didn't try any funny business. I may be a woman, but I am trained as a forester and know my trees- the other two estimators tried to tell me what some of our trees were and were wrong. The owner not only gave us the best estimate, he got it even lower by talking two of our neighbors into having work done the same day, so the company could work more efficiently. They completed the job in one day, ground all of our stumps down (and even some old ones), removed all of the debris, and didn't damage anything in the process. I had a very large Chinese elm tree I needed removed from my back yard. After getting the permit from the city (not an easy task!), I got bids from three companies. Community Tree Service's bid was the lowest. The person who gave the bid also was very instructional on what I could do afterwards and so on. They came with a giant crane, and carefully lifted each huge piece as the cut it from the main tree. The crew was very efficient, and they cleaned up well afterwards. an hour ago-Edit Worst company ever!!! I treated the tree men with nothing but respect, but was accused by the owner Dave that I swore at his workmen and threatened litigation. All I said was "It's a lawsuit waiting to happen if the trees by my condo are not trimmed for hurricane season." I received a nasty email from my condo HOA here in Windwood in Boca Raton accusing me of "inappropriate behavior" because of Dave the owner who spoke with Windwood HOA saying I was swearing etc. Dave wasn't even around when I spoke to Aaron. Well if thanking the tree men four times and offering them water and snacks and inviting them to knock on my door should they need more water is inappropriate behavior, than I am guilty. The only employee of Community Tree I spoke with was Aaron, from Arkansas who thought it was appropriate to smoke Marijuana right outside my window. Dave the owner was not willing to hear the whole story. Really unprofessional. They should be removed from Angie's list. And who wants work done by "high" employees. I don't!!! read more
