If truth in labeling laws were enforced, this company should be dubbed Community Tree DESTRUCTION Services. At the behest of PG&E, they just topped my 90 year-old Yucca gigantea without any prior notice and with zero consideration of aesthetics. This is a specimen plant that passersby may still stop and admire but our view from our living room and front porch is of dozens of stumps where foliage and squirrel nests used to rein. And for the record, am not sure how Yelp calculates ratings but do note that nearly 25% of the reviews are one-star and, if given the opportunity I'd vote for a minus-five.

Damage from boot spike. These are all the way up the tree, and worst at the top.

TL;DR: Destructive, Avoid. Typically PG&E has hired contractors that do good powerline work on my property. Not this time. - The work order clearly said "Call homeowner before tree work - customer wants to be present. But CTS didn't call. Instead, I just happened to find a worker up in my tree one morning. - The worker was wearing *boot spikes*, trying to get a grip with ankles at the top of my Liquidambar, shredding the bark. Spikes are not permitted on live trees (only on telephone poles, dead trees, and emergency rescues). - The heading/topping cuts were made at arbitrary locations, leaving stubs. - Branches were removed on the opposite side of the tree from the power line (presumably to ease access). I ordered the workers off the property, and called their supervisor. The supervisors arrived and agreed that the work was unnecessarily substandard. (They offered to "fix" the problem, by which they meant further removal. I said no.) The practices used are not part of the ISA standard, and no one on the property (including supervisors) had an ISA license. These guys are for demolition / removal, not pruning. I called PG&E after realizing that Core Tree Services, the company on the work order, had apparently subcontracted to Community Tree Services. Probably not what PG&E had intended.

Poor pruning techniques. Stubs not cut flush on the branch won't heal properly. Never strip all the secondary limbs to the tips.

No experience with their work but saw a truck with their logo driving extremely reckless and almost causing collisions twice on CA85

I've had Adolfo and Community Tree Service do two large residential jobs on my property in Soquel, one this year, and one last year.
