We had a good experience with them before and hired them to trim another property, this one in Carmel Valley. Once again the inspector came out a few days after we requested and the work was fine a week later--which is very fast! They removed two trees and cut back branches on some big trees to create ten feet clearance from house. I got another estimate from another company that was headquarter in Carmel Valley and Rodriguez was considerably cheaper. Rodriguez Tree Service recently removed a dead tree behind the house that had been threatening to drop its branches on the roof. The tree was a monster pine, probably more than fifty years old and towered over out house and the neighbor's. We were also inundated with pine needles every day. Our HOA contracted with Rodriguez tree service to remove the tree. Rodriguez Brothers arrived right on time with their crew and equipment, parked very carefully, navigating a parking lot, and set to work. They worked efficiently, tirelessly, and safely. Each branch was removed as it was felled, and piled in the parking lot, ready to be chipped. As they ascended the tree, they sent down larger and larger branches, eventually tying off and dropping the larger branches. The brothers worked together in an almost choreographed rhythm, each person knew their part and was very skillful at it. The tree came down in one eight hour day, and the branches were chipped the same day. They left the area clean with no debris left behind, but returned the next day to rake and remove any detritus from the job. They were professional and take pride in their work! read more

I highly recommend this service! During a recent windstorm, we noticed one of our cypress trees to be leaning with some what I thought were cracks in the trunk. They came out promptly and inspected the tree. They honestly told me that the tree was stable and didn't need to come down immediately. They also gave me a very reasonable price for taking it down. I recently bought a 5+ acre property in the foothills of Santa Cruz, with dozens of 100+ foot madrones, oaks and redwoods. Many of which were damaged or leaning/falling down. Additionally there were areas of dense brush along the road side including a huge stand of Acacia and a complicated pair of dead Madrone overhanging the road. My powerlines were also entangled with several trees. In short, quite a lot of work in both effort and complexity. Over several weeks, I think I had EVERY Rodriguez crew out, including Jeu, his brother and father! (Dad still climbs trees!) - they were great all around in balancing requirements vs. effort vs. time. Very professional team! Contractor licensed and insured. They responded promptly to my request for a bid and showed up on time. Bid was accurate, straightforward and detailed. The crew called ahead and had all necessary equipment. Rodriguez Tree Service consists of father, son, brothers and other family members. Very tight knit group who worked consistently and cooperatively. They trimmed a number of trees damaged in the storm. They also trimmed ivy on my fence, took out a couple of small dead trees and thinned branches. All wood was cut to my specifications and left onsite, at my request. Debris was cleared and smalls were chipped. Language was not an issue. Everyone on the crew wore neon shirts, hard hats, goggles and ear protection. When finished, we asked them to leave chipped wood - which they did and they then cleaned the sidewalk and street. Rodriguez Tree Service did an excellent job at a fair price. We had an aging tree that was dropping all kinds of leaves and sticks into our yard, so we decided to have JR and Sons do the work and remove the tree. J. and his crew do great work and take extra care to clean up all the shrubbery and leaves after cutting down the tree. Unfortunately their stump grinder is in the shop, but they agreed to come back and remove the stump once the grinder is fixed. I will update my review once all is completed. In response to the CZU Lightning Complex wildfire, we called the Fire Marshal to do a walk-through assessment of our defensible space. He recommended the removal of a dead oak tree, the cutting back of branches away from the house, limbing up and some brush clearing on our property. We contacted Rodriguez Tree Service for an estimate and they were able to schedule one for that same week! Andre came to the house, and walked the property with us, as he listened to our list of recommendations from the fire marshal. From that. he knew exactly what needed to be done. He gave us an initial verbal quote, and the next day we received an official estimate via email along with documentation of their license and insurance. We accepted the bid and they were able to schedule the work for the following week! (which is amazing because several of the other tree companies we called couldn't even book us for estimates until later in the month) On the scheduled day, Andre and his team showed up early and began right away. Everyone on the 5-man crew was professional, friendly, skilled and collaborative. Removing the very large, dead oak tree was an impressive feat, and the crew executed the task skillfully, efficiently, and most importantly safely. Our twenty-foot tree split during a wind storm that caused a lot of damage in the area. The limb was dangling dangerously over the sidewalk and threatening power lines. J answered my call on the first ring and was here in an hour, the crew (J's dad, brother and cousin) followed shortly thereafter. Three hours later the tree was down and cleaned up. These guys are awesome, no doubt about it. I've dealt with my share of flaky and/or shoddy contractors but this was one of the few times that everything exceeded expectations. It started with the request for a quote for a large job on a 1-acre property. Jeu responded right away both by phone and in person. Came over before any of the other contractors and was very professional pointing out all the work that should be done and what was "optional." Made cost-saving suggestions like not working the higher levels as they were OK and the cost goes up a lot when they have to climb high. Almost everything we asked for elicited responses like "OK," "We can do that," or "no problem." Except they couldn't chip a pile of old wood because there were nails that would damage their chipper. That night I got an email with a written quote, a photo of their license and a certificate of insurance. I wanted something else on the insurance and he had his agent's email listed so I replied to both. When I checked my emails the next morning, the agent had already sent me the updated certificate with what I had asked for. The Rodriguez quote was A LOT less than the others we got - by more than 50% of the highest bid. He gave a separate quote on a line of trees that our uphill neighbor had where the branches drooped down on our property - a big fire hazard. I met with our neighbor who agreed the branches needed to be cut. He said he'd look at Rodriguez's quote but "I have my own tree guy." A few hours later he called and said he wanted to use Rodriguez for that work and also some other work he wanted done on his property. I think he realized that Rodriguez offered a much better deal. The Rodriguez team arrived early on the appointed morning and it was like a Marine Corps invasion. They had a huge tractor with tank treads and the usual big truck with chipper. They parked carefully on the street, with orange warning cones. They had five or six workers. Everyone wore helmets and high- visibility orange vests. The Dad was the tree expert (but lets Jeu do all the talking) and everyone else was family. So their teamwork was impeccable. The tractor pulled out whole trees and threw them into the chipper. Quite impressive. They had a robotic stump grinder, a mini-tank that was directed by one of the cousins using a remote-control. Fun to watch. Of course, my wife kept asking them to do extras and again it was "OK, no problem." Like dealing with a huge patch of poison oak. On the second day they had two truck/chipper combos. The activity caught the attention of a developer building a house across the street who talked with Jeu and decided to have him do some work on his property. They finished up on the third day ahead of schedule and left my property clean with the chips spread evenly around as we had asked. They were polite, friendly, easygoing and careful with their work. I was happy. Neighbors were happy. The fire inspector came by later and was extremely happy. read more

Andre agreed to remove a stump on my property. We scheduled a date and time, which I had coordinated with another contractor who needed stump removed. At the last minute he told me that his brother must have forgotten and he couldn't reach him. I texted him to find out if he had been able to get a hold of his brother and if they could come the following day. NEVER heard from Andre again! Complete flake. Jeu, Juan and Herbert were awesome! Jeu had his insurance company name me as the insured before they started. They were fast, cleaned up very nicely, chipped and took away all of the wood and debris -- and for a reasonable price. They did quite a bit of work on my property. Trimmed 5 very large trees, trimmed 4 smaller trees, took out 2 dead trees and also took out about 3O yards of dead brush and roots. They did it all in about 6 hours and didn't even stop for lunch! Best tree service I've had in 30 years. I own a ranch and have years of experience harvesting fallen trees and trimming live ones. I know how hard it is and how dangerous it can get. Once in a while though I face a challenge where I decide to get a tree service. RTS was recommended to me and I'm glad I chose them to remove a 75-foot tall dead pine and a 50-foot valley oak needing trimming after it dropped a huge limb & then processing the wood and moving to my stacking area. They did what I contracted with them to do, they did the work quickly (in 6 hours), safely, and for a very affordable price.
