Brought my girlfriend here on a surprise date. The setting is beautiful, building is very nice, and the Christmas decorations added a very nice touch to the meal. The meal started with garlic bread being served, which was very good. I had a salad with parmesan peppercorn dressing, and the chicken marsala. It was great! I found myself searching through the wine sauce for every last piece of chicken and mushroom. My girlfriend had (and loved) the Penne a la Vodka. Have been coming to Locanda for awhile now and they continue to impress. Just an example of the type of place this is.... My daughter had made a lunch reservation for us and got the time confused. We showed up an hour early, they weren't even open yet. Nazmi the owner had just stopped in to check on the kitchen prep for the day and saw us at the door. He told us to come in, sat us at a table and then waited on us, since his staff was not even in yet. ( was one of the best wait staff we've ever had) This is the norm here not the exception. My daughter made a joke about giving him a big tip and he was adamant that he would not accept it as he is the owner. They will always go above and beyond for their customers. Besides the great service the food is absolutely amazing. My biggest pet peeve is consistency at a restaurant and they never waver, which is why we keep coming back. Looking forward to my next meal there. Update.... Went for dinner again tonight and as expected everything was amazing. Tried the chicken marsala for the first time and was completely blown away. The chicken was tender the sauce delicious and loads of mushrooms, will definitely get it again. Our server Arianna was impeccable and delivered flawlessly on everything. Made an already excellent experience even better. Every time we go we know we are going to have a great night. Great Food , Reasonable prices and a very good vibe.

I am not a person that complains but I need to let people be aware of our recent experience. I have visited Locanda a few times in the past with no issues. The food was tasty as a matter of fact. However, on Easter we made reservations for my extended family. My sons girlfriend is allergic to Gluten foods. And she has a severe reaction that causes her stomach pains, sever joint pain and nausea. We did call ahead to make sure they can prepare Gluten free foods. They assured us that they do. My sons girlfriend ordered Veal Marsala with pasta. When we ordered we made a special statement to the waiter to ensure it was prepared Gluten free. He said no problem got it! When the food came out we even double checked with the waiter since myself and my sons girlfriend both ordered the same dish. He double checked and said she had the Gluten free Marsala and pasta. So shortly after we started eating mys sons girlfriend became ill and she had to leave dinner early. So my wife approached the waiter who was very nice and he double checked with the cook and they both said that the order was prepared right and the waiter delivered the proper dish to my sons girlfriend. However, this was impossible. Someone was not telling the truth and I know mistakes can happen but this one was serious. She was up the remainder of the night with stomach pains, joint pains and nauseous. When the bill came they didn't even take her meal off of the Bill. Because it was Easter and we were celebrating My wife's 60th Birthday and my Retirement from IBM after 37 years the place was packed I didn't want to make a scene as I did not want to embarrass anyone or the Restaurant. So I decided to call the restaurant the next morning today to let the manager or owner know what took place and that I was disappointed and that he should at least have a conversation with the cook and the waiters on the seriousness if they don't serve or prepare Gluten foods correctly. So when I called I asked to speak to the manager or owner. A gentleman comes to the phone and says "yes what do you want?" I asked who I was speaking with and he refused to answer me. So I said to him who am I speaking with the manager or owner and he nastily said "F...ing John Gotti" and he hung up on me. So I had no recourse than to post this so that people in the local Fishkill area boycott this establishment just for the way they handled my concern and not even the preparation of Gluten foods. I think its sad when people can't even apologize for or even have a civil conversation with a patron. My circle of friends and business associates is very large and I will make certain I spread the word! read more

My family and I stayed in Fishkill for one night on our way to Boston and were very pleased to find this authentic Italian restaurant. It was pretty busy and loud-but hey-that really made it more authentically Italian. The food was really incredible and we enjoyed dishes including seafood, chicken, pastas and salads. Definitely better than the average Italian restaurant! When you're married to an Italian, the sauce can make or break the meal. Don't know if is was the Monday night blues- I have had better. I would not recommend this to my fiends- maybe it was just an off night. The waiter could not give us his undivided attention. It was not even busy- 3 tables max. When ordering he kept looking around- definatley not focused on the task at hand. The food was bland- and I am a very bland eater- I had the chicken Marsala. Waiter cam over once to ask if everything was okay. Did not ask if we wanted coffe or dessert- I felt bad leaving a 15% tip- be he did not even try. Oh and on the receipt where it tells you to tell them about your experience.....................they miss-spelled "expirence"- unless that is some Italian thing? read more

Trattoria Locanda exceeded all of my expectations! We were greeted warmly by the staff as soon as we walked in the door. The interior of the restaurant is designed to feel cozy and romantic. It's like being in an Italian Village! It was a gorgeous evening so we decided to sit at one of the outside tables. The owner, Nazmi, came over to welcome us. He was accommodating and friendly. He suggested a gnocchi dish for me, which I ordered. It was OUTSTANDING! The salads were delicious. The home-made bread was warm and soft- perfect to dip in the olive oil! The menu has plenty of selections for all tastes, and the prices are very reasonable, especially for the portions. (I took half of my dinner home!) They also have a great wine selection, including several of my favorite wines from the Bronco winery in California. Kathy, our server, was delightful! She was very efficient and took great care of us. The atmosphere surrounding this restaurant is warm and inviting. It seems like everyone in Fishkill knows Nazmi! He obviously has a great rapport with the residents in the community. We stayed for almost 2 hours, eating and drinking and enjoying a GREAT experience at Trattoria Locanda! The owner is friendly and generous, multiple times he's offered us a free bottle of wine or a cannoli. We always feel welcome when we visit. Chicken parm, lobster raviolis, and steak dishes are always delicious and all their dishes are very reasonably priced. The steaks they serve are always very good cuts of meat and are always cooked perfectly with amazing sauces. The broccoli rabe is particularly tender and tasty. We moved to the area roughly four months ago and this restaurant quickly became our favorite spot to eat! The restaurant is always very clean and well light with a welcoming atmosphere. read more

Service was outstanding.Wine Selection was limited .You fail where you don't offer a value house wine.My bar tab for 4 was over 100.00 I can't afford to come back. Some would say then drink less.Hog wash ! I'll pay 35.00 for sea bass and 25.00 for pasta and all the entrees were good.But 100.00 for beer and house wine cost you a once a month customer. You're not that good.The antipasto was not good.. Calamari sauce needed heat.. All in all the food was a 4 star service was a 5 star atmosphere was a 5 star .... However resturant common sense is lacking.Learn to make all your customers feel like regulars. read more

FOOD IS AMAZING!!! Zuppa de pesce was so delicious, seafood was fresh, tasty sauce! My boyfriend had the steak special, was super tender, matched with yummy risotto! Heard great things about this place so I had to try for myself because Italian Cuisine is my favorite. Owner and his wife are so welcoming and kind. Had a complimentary glass of wine! I told them I wanted to spend exactly what was advertised and they responded as if I were crazy and pulled that number from thin air - they said a minimum for a private party would be $50pp. Maybe you should change your website if you aren't going to honor the prices. read more

Hands down the best Italian around. I come here every time I visit Fishkill. This is always the first and only place I bring business associates. In the last 4 months, we have been here 20 or so times with perfect service and excellent meals. No complaints! The owner will create meals off the menu without thinking twice. My Wife and I got married in October, 2012 and we held our rehearsal dinner at Locanda. We live about an hour south of Fishkill and were unfamiliar with the area so we looked at most of the restaurants in the town before settling on Locanda. My wife and I both loved the atmosphere as well as the quality of food and service. We also found the price to be very reasonable considering the size of our group, breadth of the menu, and nature of the event. We had approximately 40 people in our party and we fit comfortably in the restaurant. We even had a few unexpected guests that Nazmi, the owner, and the rest of the staff were very good at accommodating at the last minute. The restaurant was very clean and the vibe was easygoing. The staff was attentive and went the extra mile to make the evening enjoyable for us and our guests. When we were choosing the menu options for the rehearsal we were pleasantly surprised at the number of choices our guests would have. Nazmi gave our guests nearly the entire menu to choose from which was great for us because we had several vegetarian/pescatarian guests. We got several compliments on our choice of restaurant - it was a great start to our wedding weekend. Now, anyone who's ever planned a wedding will tell you that once you say the word "wedding" prices seem to jump considerably. This was not the case with Locanda. We found the price to be very fair compared to the other restaurants in the area. Overall, we had an excellent experience at Locanda and would highly recommend it to anyone considering a rehearsal dinner or just an evening out. We recently went back for our one year anniversary and were just as happy with the food and service as last year. Giving 2 stars here might be a little generous. I did like the atmosphere. Rather cozy. For a Sunday night, there was a full house of diners. So there must be something about the food everyone else likes but me. I had the Stuffed Filet of Sole. Stuffed with Scallops and Shrimp in a Seafood Cream Sauce. In a nutshell, the meal was awful. Maybe its suppose to taste the way it did, but it was just not good. The stuffing was dry and I did not taste anything remotely like scallops or shrimp. The fish was a rather small filet that was over-cooked with a lot of stuffing. The sauce I had expected to be a "Seafood Cream Sauce" as advertised. There was nothing seafood about it. It tasted like cream of tomato soup. I did ask the waitress if there were mushrooms in the sauce. She said no but it did taste like it. It was just a poor tasting meal. Normally I would be more than happy go again and try something different, but our party of four also had poor meals. My wife and her sister had the Shrimp Scampi with Asparagus over Linguini. I am thinking shrimp scampi is made with olive oil with with garlic and maybe some butter. Again, the sauce tasted like canned cream of tomato soup. They too did not like their meal. My brother in law had the Veal Parmigiana. Lightly breaded veal topped with Mozzarella, in a Marinara Sauce. I have never seen him not finish a meal. He did not finish it and not because there was too much. None of us liked our meal. As for the salad, I asked for a garden salad with blue cheese dressing. The greens did not seem fresh. Not bad but I think it should have been better. As for the blue cheese dressing,, I think they should have called it Mayo dressing with a chunk or 2 of blue cheese. On the very good side, they have an excellent selection of wines and they do serve mixed drinks. Service was pleasant. Not great, but nothing to complain about. read more

I was walking with my wife on Main street Fishkill on our way to Il Barilotto when we noticed this place for the first time. My wife had a craving for Filet Mignon and what do you know - they had it on special that night. Meant to be. Against my better judgement we went in. I ordered the Lasagna and she the special. Service was very good, as were the garlic rolls placed on our table. I was looking forward to the rest of the meal ! My Lasagna turned out uninspired, but solid nonetheless. The Filet Mignon, however, was atrocious. Clearly a leftover cut that's been frozen and thawed too many times, as its grainy texture surrendered. Moreover it was well done when ordered medium. You should not be serving Filet Mignon if you know nothing about steak. This was by far the worst filet we've ever seen. We sent it back only to receive another pathetic piece of meat that was medium-well. sigh. My only hope at that point was that at least they wouldn't charge us for a real filet mignon, but boy-oh-boy did they - $33 !!! For one of the worst pieces of steak we ever had. It's too bad, really - they place had potential, but clearly the owner preferred to screw me out of my money once, than have me returned a satisfied customer many times again. read more

Just left the restaurant and have always loved it.. but had the rudest busboy.. we ordered a antipasto and was half eaten .. obviously because I had paid for it (asked to have leftover wrapped up ) tomorrow football Sunday .. knew my hub would be happy to eat it .. oh how he loves to eat! the busboy then with a sliver left on a plate rudely asked me .. My family and I had eaten dinner here this past weekend. We were celebrating Easter, my mother's 60th birthday, and my fathers retirement. Our celebratory dinner was ruined because of a few things. The service was prompt but we were feeling rushed at the same time. The waiter would come by and start taking our plates without asking if we were done eating. My brothers girlfriend is allergic to gluten and we had previously asked if the restaurant had gluten free menu options, to which they replied yes. When she ordered we made sure to remind the waiter that she is allergic to gluten and to make sure she received the right order. About five minutes into eating her meal she began to feel her throat and mouth become itchy from an allergic reaction. Her throat began to swell and her face became puffy and red. She was forced to leave in the middle of our dinner to get medicine because of her reaction to the gluten in her meal. We had informed the restaurant of the mistake they made and they didn't make an attempt to make it right, not even an apology, they insisted she received the correct food which couldn't be possible. Instead of causing a scene and ruining other patrons holiday dinners, we left and attempted to speak to the manager the following day out of respect for them. When we spoke to the restaurant employee they refused to tell us who we were speaking to, as well as their title. They had also used profanity and wouldn't listen to our concerns, then hung up the phone. It is incredibly rude and unprofessional to run a business this way. We have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant in our lives. My brothers girlfriend spent the night in tremendous pain and was almost hospitalized because of their mistake and they didn't even have the courtesy to ask how she was. There are so many restaurants on Main Street in Fishkill that treat their customers better, we will never eat there again, and neither should you. read more
