PLEASE READ: My wife and I used to love going to this place and refused to believe a friend when they told us that the owner needs an attitude adjustment... Fast Forward to 10/31/11- my wife called in an order for a large Grandma Pie (amazing!!!) I had just come home from work and was told to stop in and that we were told the order should be ready within a half hour. A close friend and I showed to the restaurant at around 645 and thought we were late for the pick-up... the owner mentioned that the pie takes a while and they were quite busy (due to local area power outages, people were heading out to grab meals at several places) we were told it should be approx 15-20min. So, we took a spot at the front of the restaurant and waited. 710...715...finally, at 720 we were handed the final bill and the waitress was quite nice and explained she was sorry for the hold-up. I asked if I could speak with the manager/owner. With that, he came over and asked what the issue was. I said, "It is quite ridiculous that we were given a half-hour timeline and we are finally getting our meal after an hour... it would have been appropriate if you gave us notice that you were busy and would not have our meal for an hour..." He then said we are busy and you have no appreciation for what I do here (evading my question completely). He then went on to say that if we were not happy we could leave (at this point I was not upset...) I then reiterated that we just would have appreciated fair notice that he was busy... and may have chosen a different place. He began to get very loud with me to a point where my friend was mentioning that he had never seen a customer get treated this way. I had another friend in the restaurant and mentioned to the guy that he most likely would not see my business again, along with the friends that i had in the restaurant... he then said, "I don't care... and your friends can leave too!" This guy has now made it seem as if he has no problem with losing business... and would rather try and berate customers in front of other customers (I could just imagine what the employees are treated like). Because he had become very belligerent throughout the disagreement, I had paid my bill and proceeded to walk out and mentioned to him what an "A**hole he was," After that, he proceeded to tell me to "go F myself," also in front of patrons (while provoked, I told him to do the same). So, if this is the type of place you would like to bring your family for a nice meal, think again. Oh, and when i was walking out of the restaurant, without any issue, his brother decided to grab me by my shoulder... again, if you like places that berate customers and don't appreciate that your hard-earned dollars keep them in business... or you don't mind seeing patrons get bullied and pushed out of a restaurant, then this is the place for you (sarcasm). I highly recommend that you find other nice Italian establishments in Dutchess County and not LoCanda. I hope that people find this to review to be most helpful. read more

Went to Locanda to meet a friend after work and the experience was dreadful. This was the worst service I've had in years and it was not crowded. They messed up my meal and when I told the waitress it was made wrong she just stared at me, never offering an apology. I could not believe that they used canned asparagus in the shrimp scampi dish. Who uses canned anything in a fine restaurant? Just sad! They also brought out the wrong salad to my sister. It seems that attention to detail is severely lacking. When my sister asked for another cup of hot tea they took hers away and just added hot water to her cold tea. Who does that? Food was tasty but it's a shame that they don't seem to care about their customers. The waitress was gone so long with our credit card that we all put on our coats and stood by the table. Ridiculous! Years ago it was great. I see our previous review has been scrapped. Have not been back since 2011. After 2 tries, we gave up! Rude, condescending (? why ?), sub-par food, a bunch of tables and chairs and blah decor, and an owner who thinks he's God's gift to the restaurant business. and Italian? Please, get a grip - it's not. People who gave 3 stars are being very generous. I agree with Nick C - a ZERO rating. You can do much better in NYC - lots of quality Italian cuisine there to choose from, and you will get your money's worth. Main ST. I had a very fun Sunday evening at Locanda starting with an awesome Cosmo with a cold antipasto followed by an excellent Chardonnay with a white pizza. Their new bar is amazing . I recommend it highly and will definitely be back again! Owner and bartender a plus as well:) read more

Truly wonderful meal at Locanda. The complimentary garlic rolls with roasted eggplant were a great way to start. We shared the caprese salad to begin. Sadly the tomatoes were underripe winter tomatoes, so not much flavor in them. But the mozzarella was creamy and the balsamic glaze was delicious. For dinner we had the grilled calamari with fresh marinara and a crab-stuffed branzino filets. The calamari was very good, but could have had a bit more char on it. The branzino was without compare...unbelievably tasty. The skin was crispy, without the fish being overlooked. The stuffing of crabmeat and broccolini was sweet and savory, with several textures complementing each other. A lemon olive oil sauce and risotto rounded out a fantastic plate. Went 1st time for restaurant week. Nice ambiance and greeted immediately. Asked to sit wherever we like. Our waitress was incredibly friendly. Most of us did restaurant week menu. Plenty of standouts. Hot tail sauce is perfect! Calamari little rubbery for grilled but seasoned nice. All entrees wrre terrific. Locanda special is delicious. Nice balance of heat with a not overrating Marsala sauce. Sea bass was cooked perfectly and thier mash potatoes were tasty and not too creamy and not too lumpy. Desserts came after and thick chocolate cake and baklava gelato! Overall this is well above average and would definitely recommend going. 1 gripe is no carry in wine allowed when we called ahead and asked. When we arrived they wrre out of many wines on menu which I can understand. However I was rather upset when I saw a large table walk in ( maybe the regulars Jeff E refers to in his review below) , with their own wine bottles and saw the owner ( I assume) assume greet them. Just have consistency in your policy. You either allow it or you don't. Especially if one of the better wines recommended by your staff is a screw top merlot. read more

Came here on our anniversary for the first time. We were sat at the front of the restaurant by the windows and the table was slanted, the server barley came over to help us and told be they didn't have a drink menu to pick from and didn't know the specials of the day because what I ordered came out wrong. The food could have been better. Most likely won't return or refer to a friend. There are way better places down the street or even next door. read more

We will NEVER eat here again. Menu states they offer Gluten Free food. A person in our party ordered a gluten-free meal. When brought to her, she had the waiter ascertain that it was in fact gluten-free. Within 10 minutes , while eating the meal, she became extremely sick with a gluten allergic response. This location is very cute and quaint. I ordered the lobster ravioli and it was so good.. maybe the best I had! I also ordered a glass of the pinot noir and they fill it up to the rim of the glass, it's like having 2 glasses in one! The service was a little slow, but they only had one waitress working and the owner walked around and said hello to the customers. I had my bridal shower at Locanda this past weekend. Such an elegant place setting and the decor inside is cozy and intimate...from the wine bottles to the beautiful exposed brick walls. The food was delicious and the mimosas too. There was not a time that we had to call the server, Ashley over. Before the glasses were empty she was right there with a fresh filled glass. There were about 17 ladies and Ashley pulled it off flawlessly. Definitely a go to place for a nice brunch, catch up with some friends or an intimate date night. We have eaten here several times over the last year... The FOOD has always been great! The service was initially spotty but now they are getting a grooved swing! Our last dinner was outside and the service was perfect. We never felt forgotten and our glasses were always full. The only thing that I would improve is the front door to hostess station relationship. You enter in the middle of the table area and if you are unfamiliar you could wait a long time before recognizing that you need to walk in to the middle of the restaurant for a hostess. Had dinner there during Restaurant Week. The food was excellent. We were not in the mood for Italian cuisine, so we got the filet mignon and a salad. Perfectly grilled filet, great salad. Would like to have the recipe for their port wine sauce. We were accidentally overcharged for the wine bill by one drink. The owner came out, apologized, and gave us a bottle of Tuscan wine as compensation. Totally unnecessary, but appreciated. We will go back in a heartbeat. This was our third visit, but not our last! Overall food was just ok- not great. Wine and beer were good. 45 minute wait to be seated with a reservation. Over an hour and half for dinner. Owner was very nice and compensated us for a beverage. It was unfortunate as we were looking forward to a night out but due to dinner taking so long we came right home. Waitresses were confused and forgot to follow up with the table. May give it another shot on a non-holiday weekend. read more

We had a rehearsal dinner here for our wedding on 10/4/13. There were approximately 30 guests. The owner and staff could not have done a better job. They kept the wine flowing all night. Even now, months later, our guests still comment about how much fun they had that night. Nazmi, the owner, was hands-on the entire night. I cannot speak highly enough about our experience at Locanda. Nazmi and his staff couldn't have been better, and they helped kick our wedding weekend off in style. I would recommend this place to any and all. I'd give a million stars if I could. read more

The food is wonderful, the service/kitchen is horrible. Twice in 6 weeks have been there- waited over 2 hours the first time for food, the second time 4 out of 5 meals came out and oops problem with computer - 1 meal order was never placed. By the time this meal came out rest of table was done with meal! Manager laughed blamed the waitress- didn't even comp the meal or a drink for us. Ordered two entrees for take out last week. They sounded extremely busy over the phone, but the wait was only 20 mins. I had the Tortellini alla Panna (cheese tortellini in cream tomato sauce w/ peas and prosciutto) which was amazing. HUGE portion, had tons of leftovers. My boyfriend had the Locanda Special (Grilled chicken with hot or sweet sausage and hot cherry peppers in a Marsala Wine Sauce) and he also liked it. Both orders came with Caesar salads which we swapped out for house salads with balsamic (very yummy dressing, cheese & olives- not a basic side salad) & the garlic bread that came with it was delish. Came to about $43 but the free garlic bread, salads, and huge portions made it worth it. read more

Wow! Wow! Wow! What am amazing accidental find! My friends and I were in the area and not knowing of this place, stopped for dinner! We were ALL pleasantly surprised! This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants. I always go for the fish special or Salmon. Fish is always fresh and the way in which made is delicious. The wine selection is awesome and I always am welcomed like I am part of the family. I highly recommend if you are looking for a restaurant with high end style but will serve family style portions. Three and a half star. Food is good, 4 star, service is very slow, 3 star, I am guessing the kitchen is overwhelmed because only 2 tables were empty. It was a Saturday night. The door is not closed automatically and many customers did not close it behind them, rather annoying, 2 star. Our server is super nice, 5 star. We ordered chicken pasta, clam pasta, Tommy special pasta. All excellent, no complaints. We will be back and we'll sit at a different table not right by the front door. read more

Don't bother going unless u like being ignored and mediocre food with inflated prices. Couldn't get a menu terrible service we were starving when we went in around 8:30 pm it was not busy and it was just amazing how long it took to order. No cocktail list they give u a wine list only if you ask about drinks and then the list shows only prices for bottles. However it seems we were being neglected because it was our first time there how strange. Everyone else was welcomed and served quickly. I wouldn't go back if it was free. We drove almost an hour exciTed because a friend had recommended it. And we were like what the heck let's do something different, what a waste of time. read more

This is my second review about Trattoria Locanda Restaurant on Main Street in Fishkill. It just keeps getting better! My husband and I went there again for dinner Thursday night and sat outside at one of their sidewalk tables. Delightful!! The Shrimp Scampi over Linguini - excellent! Looked forward to eating there, as their FB page looked interesting. Immediately put off as staff just pointed to the back so we had to sit ourselves. Had to assume the round table in the corner was for our party of 5. That corner, next to a party of 8 (2 very loud ladies) made any discussion difficult. Bartender said the bottle of wine ordered was gone, so instead of suggesting another, I was offered a single glass. The entre I had expected from online menu was not there. The dessert I ordered was not there. The young lady who served us was gracious and helpful. The owner, I assumed, gushed over the loud table next to us, so I gathered they had lots of influence, but he never made an attempt to greet us. Very good Italian, very nice ambiance. I had my post-nuptials lunch here with some close friends and family and they accommodated us nicely. The setup was great, the special menu made for us was perfect, the service... It was all good. My only complaint here is the communication between owner and server...
