I've been searching for a nail tech for my mom since the person she use to go to retired. Today, my mom and I got gel manicures and green tea pedicures. The owner Trang is lovely, personable and funny. She works alone so you don't feel rushed. You can be quiet or you can strike up a conversation, just easy and relaxing. The products she used felt nice on my skin and she massage the creams in my skin very well, the hot stones were also a nice touch to the whole experience. Wow, what a lovely pedicure I had this morning at Trang's Nail Spa! I was greeted warmly and directed to the foot bath which had been set up with hot tea and little snacks. The water was infused with slices of lime, lemon and orange and the scent was amazing! The citrus foot scrub was invigorating, and the hot stone massage...aaah! Additionally, Kim was patient, thorough, and hygenically meticulous. She also offered me helpful suggestions to maintain optimal foot health. The entire experience was quite wonderful! Just got back from Maui and desperately needed my nails done before going back to work. I've been looking for a unique nail salon who doesn't hurt me when given a massage. Nailed it! Trang is so gentle, she seemed to know I like gentle massages. She listened to what I liked, not what I should do. I made an appointment to get a mani and pedi ($35), and was glad I was warmly welcomed. Kimmy was ready with the pedi spa chair, hot water, and clean supplies. She took her time, listen to my concerns, and made me comfortable. I asked why she didn't have a busy store front, Kimmy said she doesn't like the busy style shops. Kimmy loves to take her time with each person, make sure everyone feels comfortable, and keeps a clean salon. Came to Trang's salon to get a pedicure and it was such a lovely experience . I felt relaxed and well taken care of the whole time. Trang was also very gentle and so nice. By far the best mani experience I've had in the Oakland Bay Area. I'm a Gel nail girl & it's been a hard road finding someone who does this well. What I loved: 1- it's just her. No row of gossiping Asian women who may very well b talking about u. Not here! I got Kim's undivided attention. :) 2- clean! 3- intimate & professional environment 4- good conversation with Kim I didn't feel like there was some sort if servant servicing me, like other salons, I felt like she was a friend helping me out. My story: I called first thing 10am & Kim told me to come right away & she would squeeze me in. (Yay!) I brought a picture of what I wanted. A nude Gel mani w/ soft silver glitter ombré from cuticle to tip. She didn't have the silver but showed me that the gold she had might work. I went with it & am so glad I did. (Posted pics don't do it justice) I showed her the chipped & overgrown gel mani I got elsewhere. I asked her to cut them short & square. She worked methodically. Quickly removing old polish, cleaning under my nails, & trimming up my cuticles, nails, etc. I am so happy with the finished product & can't stop looking at my hands :) And her price was just as wonderful. $25 for my visit, though I chose to tip her generously, very competitive pricing. Overall, I love Kim's work & WILL be going back. Who knows, I may bring her some gel polishes for trying my next look (most of her clients are acrylic girls- for now). THANKS KIM! High class service right here! I hadn't had a pedicure in about 6 months so needless to say, my feet were horrible! I felt so bad for whoever had to handle them but Trang did so effortlessly! The service here is super top notch and super sanitary. I am a semi-new hairdresser so cleanliness is still my top priority and always will be and I have to say that this place never once made me squeamish whatsoever! She is so different than any other place because she uses essential oils with lemons, basil, and orange peels in the water. She massages you using hot oil, hot stones, and finishes with a hot towel! Visited Trang last month and wish I had gone to her sooner! It's a small little place--looks like a house, so it's easy to overlook. Have lived in Alameda for 3 years and didn't notice this place until a couple months ago. Service is quiet, personal, and superb! You literally have the whole place to yourself because Trang only takes clients one at a time. In fact, she admits that having more than one technician simultaneously working is "too noisy" and "feels like a factory." Granted, the place is small and the decor feels more like a living room, but you can't beat the price for such personalized service. PLUS, Trang's tools and equipment are super-clean. The UV light sanitation oven-thingy is clearly visible with 20 or so tools being baked, while she has another 20 ready to go in those sanitary surgical packs. Oh, and her eye brow waxes are spot on! She worked around the holes in my eyebrows without making them look too short or thin, creating a nice clean curve. Her personality is calm, professional, and sweet--never chatty, easy to understand, and gets it when you just want to chill and read your magazine. I Heart Trang! read more
