The owner at this nail spa definitely takes pride in her team's work and quickly reached out to me to address my previous experience. I accepted the offer of a redo, and they were able to see me quickly. Now that I know what to expect with a Russian mani I was less surprised and able to appreciate the precision and skill needed for this type of service (though will caution anyone who's never gotten one before that it can be a bit uncomfortable; I recommend you look this up before trying it). My nail tech today also did a lovely job with the nail design. She was very skilled and meticulous with her work (grooming, polish and design) so I expect this set will last longer than my last. If you're getting a Russian mani, take note that you can expect it to take nearly 2 hours, so feed the parking meter accordingly. I've definitely found my new nail spot after moving to oakland. I found this place through yelp and the nail techs were responsive and I was able to make an appointment and come in next day. This location is in the old bank of America with lots of other suites. There is a paid parking lot next door or you can find street metered parking. There is a code you need to get into the building that they gave me prior to coming in. I showed them my inspo pic and they got the color and everything right. I booked an appointment via Yelp and I appreciated how quickly they responded and provided clear instructions on how to get there. The shop doesn't have a street-level storefront so you have to use a code to get into the building/upstairs. Really clean and aesthetic space with limited number of stations. I think there were only four pedicure stations and five nail stations in total. I really like the selection of colors and styles but just wanted to do a simple regular pedicure and gel manicure for this visit. My only question was pricing. It's not clear how much each service is and I didn't see a pricing list in store. There's a 10% discount for first-time visitors but somehow I still paid the same as another customer who got a gel mani/pedi when I only did a gel mani. I didn't bother questioning the beauty technician because she did a really good job and gave me the 10% discount. Would go back again (and just pay more attention to the pricing)! read more

Just wrapped my first nail appointment here and was very impressed. I just moved to Alameda from SF and was in dire need to find a new nail tech in the area. I looked up prices across 3 salons in Alameda and Me Nail quoted $60 for a regular mani pedi vs. $80 at the other two in the area. Just on price alone with the good reviews, I knew I had to give Me Nail a shot. I called on a Tuesday afternoon and was able to come in for an appointment 30 minutes later. The technique was very different than what I'm used to where the hands are soaked in water before the cubicles are cut. The tech instead did a dry technique and was very marticulous in cutting off the skin and shaping the nail. I was a bit nervous at first. My only concern with nails is just making sure I don't get cut. I later researched that having your cubicles cut is actually the better way to do it because of how the skin swells when they're soaked. The dry technique makes it so that the cubicle is cut down as accurately as possible. For the pedicure, the soak had a nice rose smell to it and the lotion used also smelled really good. I was enjoying every minute of it. The attention to detail was there across both the pedicure and manicure, and I appreciated the scrub. My feet has been long overdue and I walked out satisfied. My nail tech was very focused on making sure everything was done perfectly and was very nice as she did the service. The salon does run a bit warm but not crazy hot. Definitely will be coming back for another appointment once it's time to get my self care in again. read more

They don't do acrylic, so this is my first time with gel x but also my first time having nails in over a year. A true hidden gem in Alameda! My family and I wanted to get pedicures done for a last minute girls day. Because it was last minute, we didn't make any appointments but luckily, Me Nail Spa was able to accommodate us! Definitely call ahead as there's a code to get into the building which they'll text you when you create your appointment. Then, it's on the 2nd level all the way in the back. I didn't even realize there were so many beauty spots in this building off Park Street in Alameda. The salon isn't huge, but it's got enough space! 4 pedicure stations, 2-3 manicure stations, and it looks like an extra room for waxing/other beauty services. They offer complimentary drinks (wine, water, etc) to enjoy while you get your services done. It's very clean and bright inside too thanks to their skylight. I could tell some of their team was new so some folks went faster than others, but I still think overall they did a great job! If I'm not in a rush, I'm definitely okay with my nail tech taking their time to make sure everything gets done correctly. My group's one wish was that the massages could go a little longer during the pedicures. Price was as expected at around $30-35 for a pedicure. I went in for a pedi, lashes, brows and lip. Service and vibe were great. I don't know about the quality of all the services I received but the lashes are worth it. My feet weren't scrubbed, didn't clean the nails or cut the dry skin around the toe nail or scrub the sides of my feet. I could have did what she did at home. I just soaked them and watched her try her best. My feet aren't bad I keep up with them even if you don't see it I still do. I feel like all pedicure services should have been applied for me paying 50 bucks. The establishment is very clean and the techs might just be beginner. I am very thankful for them even though I am not satisfied. The lash tech did a great job on my lashes but my waxing service wasn't worth it. My lip is still hairy and my brows are even worse than before. Now I have to go get them fixed. I end up paying 200.00 because I left a tip. I didn't see my brows till I got in my car. I hate to think bad thoughts but did they do this so I don't come back or are they actually beginners? This really hurts my feelings. Now I have to spend more money getting them fixed. It is so cute in here! The environment is very welcoming. My husband and I went, and it probably is better suited for just women, but it was still a great experience. I went to get a pedicure, and I loved how my toes came out. I had a broken big toenail, and they don't do acrylic, but they fixed it with a gel tip. I found them again, the location is funky and in an old office building that's been converted to individual studios for rent. It's really easy to connect with them. I texted the number listed, asked when I could come and with what services. There's also a website that easily lists prices (an earlier review couldn't find prices, everything is digital now). The techs texted me back and I headed over, they gave me a code to use on the front door to enter. For the services, I got a gel manicure and a dry pedicure. They cleaned my nails really well, they did go a little too deep in one part but my cuticles were rough so I get it. She color matched perfectly and kept working on my nail shape until they were perfect. It was my first dry pedicure which I liked more, somehow felt more sanitary but doesn't really get all the dead skin off if you're looking for rigorous scrubbing. Booked a Gel-X appointment for Saturday afternoon. At first glance, the nail salon is small and I only saw two staff on hand. But the inside and decor is so cute. I also liked the music they had playing in the background, early 2000s pop/pop rock - throwback! Overall, I was thoroughly impressed and amazed by the final product. I showed my nail tech a Pinterest inspo pic and the nails actually turned out way better than the original. Love the spring/Easter aesthetic. Whole process took about 2.5 hours. $95 in total for removal of my old Gel-X set (that I got elsewhere) and this new one - though I can't recall if they charge extra for design. All in all, prices are average and reasonable for Alameda. What I really appreciate was how gentle, meticulous, and detail oriented she was. She especially took her time with the nail application and the floral design. She was super considerate and made sure to check with me that I was content with the shape of the nails, colors, and design. Quality of service deserves an A+. I might have found my regular go to nail spot. I'm excited to come back with new designs. Would highly recommend if you want clean, cute, and intricate designs. This is my first time here. We got 2 gel pedicures. unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. First off, the location was difficult to find, which wasn't the best start. Once inside, the space was very clean and had a cute setup, so I was hopeful. However, the service didn't live up to expectations. It was clear that the technicians were inexperienced, and they didn't paint the nails well at all. The color selection was minimal, which was also disappointing, and there was absolutely no massage included with the pedicure--a standard feature in most nail salons. The chairs were not typical spa chairs, making the experience uncomfortable, especially for someone like me at 5'9". The setup seemed designed for someone much shorter, making it hard to relax. Overall, while the spa was clean and had a nice atmosphere, the quality of the service and setup were major letdowns. I wouldn't return based on the service I received. read more

I asked around for a reputable nail salon that could execute a creative idea I had for an upcoming trip. I was recommended this place by a couple of folks and decided to give them a try. I was able to schedule an appointment the same week through Yelp. I was able to locate parking right in front of the building which was great, and I was attended fairly quickly when I arrived. My pedicure went very well and I appreciate how gentle my nail artist was. I do feel looking back now that some of the nails were not filed or cut evenly but that's nothing to cry about. I believe my manicurist's name is Engie, and she did amazing work on my nails. I showed her my inspiration and she Match the colors exactly. She did not rush the process and took her time, it took about two hours for my nails to be completed which I should have anticipated. She was very gentle and I am extremely sensitive and cautious about my cuticles. She used the tiniest brush I have ever seen to execute clean lines, there are some nails that have the outer edge line is not as straight... But come on this work is amazing! I appreciated that when she would see a visible error she would completely start over and take her time so again no complaints here. For my regular pedicure and the gel extensions, with almond shaped and design it was $125. Which I felt was reasonable and warranted. Venmo payment is preferred. Have been going to Me Nail Spa for a few years now and have gotten multiple services from their gel-x to pedicures and even lashes (all at their old location). The staff has always been really nice and it was my absolute favorite salon to go to when I used to get services at the old location on Central. I feel like something has changed since they moved. The last two times I came to their new location on Park St, I asked for deluxe pedicures. The first time I got a deluxe pedicure at the new location the nail tech was really rough. She pushed on my cuticles pretty hard, I had a small cut on one toe and when she used the pumice/callous remover she cut the side of my foot. I'm usually not one to complain so I just figured it was an off day and didn't say anything. Recently, I came in for another deluxe pedicure and when I booked, I tried texting and didn't get a response so I emailed, no big deal. I asked for a deluxe pedicure with callous remover. On the day of my appointment, my nail tech was really nice but the pressure of the leg massage was very little, my nails were cut a bit too short, a couple nails were crooked and she didn't scrub the bottom of my feet for callous removal. When I asked about it, she didn't understand what I was asking about at first and then she consulted with the tech next to her and she said she didn't have the product to do the callous removal and they would just use a foot mask. Then I asked if she could just use the pumice to at least scrub and she tried to say I didn't need it. But let me tell you, anyone looking at my feet before the pedicure would definitely see that I have hard skin on my heel, and balls of my feet. After leaving, I noticed the edges of my toe nails were not smooth which then later on my big toe nail got caught on carpet which then ripped. I know I probably could've contacted the salon and came back to have them smooth out the edges but that takes more time out of my schedule and as a busy mom I unfortunately don't always hVe a flexible schedule. Just a bit bummed because this was my Mother's Day gift and just not the best experience or very relaxing at all. I haven't gotten gel-x or any other service for a long time so I can't say much there, but I feel very indifferent about coming back based on my last two experiences. I think if you're looking for a really nice pedicure with hot towels , a good massage, and callous removal I probably wouldn't come here. read more

maybe my experience won't be the same as yours but i really felt like my tech was impatient. he sighed multiple times as if he were annoyed, sloppy work. i wanted a straight square pedicure and he went at a curved angle making it far too short and unable to straighten out. he only checked on me per me moving or granting bc he was shaving parts of my skin. his fixation on my big toe was insane he dug so deep im red. also for color, they didnt show me options of anything, they really are just winging it. after this experience i rather go to the place that attempted to scam me because the work was so detailed and beautiful. i dont think my tech felt confident about his work either read more

I'm really picky about nail service so please know that. That's why I rated 2/5 as opposed to a 1, because I know I have really high standards. The things I liked about Me Nail Spa were that they were able to fit me in at a moment's notice and when I showed the tech a photo of the color I wanted, she pulled basically the exact color from the shelf immediately (and it was a tricky color IMO). The spa looks clean. It was boiling hot inside though (on a cool day) and super stuffy, no air circulation whatsoever, which doesn't seem very safe. My main gripe is how rough and painful my mani and pedi were, as well as the filing job done on my mani. They cut your cuticles without wetting your skin, so your skin is not soaked prior. They also push back your cuticles before applying cuticle softener. It was downright painful. I was wincing and flinching in pain the whole time. I started actually kind of panicking, breathing hard, telling them how uncomfortable I was, but no accommodations were made. When I thought the worst was over, the pedicure tech applied a scrub to my legs and began just tearing into my dry skin with it. Zero water and the coarsest scrub you can imagine. The only time my skin finally touch water was when she washed this off. The rest of my pedicure was just nail painting, which she did a great job of. The manicure did not include any arm massage, it was just the cuticle torture, filing and painting. No cuticle oil was applied afterward either. Another weird thing was the tech kept holding my hand up in front of my face and blowing on my nails, so she was therefore blowing directly in my face. It was extremely unhygienic and uncomfortable. Additionally, I saw her trying to scrape something off one of my nails while polishing. When I left, I noticed a tiny black hair dried into the polish in that same area, so I guess she just gave up on getting that off. Bummer. The filing was extremely uneven and crooked. I asked her to fix one that was egregiously messed up but when she did, she didn't actually fix it. I asked her to shorten another, as it was dramatically longer, and she about filed it completely off, so after that I realized I better just stop asking her to fix things because it was only making it worse. At the end of the day though, I'd really like to know what brand top coat they use, because the polish has lasted with only a few chips for 5 days (regular polish, not gel) so that is a huge plus. I would not return due to how painful the services were, the lack of airflow, and the horrible filing job. So many other nail salons in the area, so not worth enduring any level of pain, much less THAT level of pain. read more
