I asked if they were busy, and the woman told me they were not and that she could take me right away. She immediately started filling the water for a pedicure, but based on past experiences at other nail salons, I asked how long the wait would actually be. Too often, nail shops say there is no wait, only to have customers sitting around for 15 to 20 minutes after the water has already been prepared. I simply wanted an honest answer about the timing. Instead of feeling welcomed as a customer, I left feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. Customer service is just as important as the quality of the service itself, and unfortunately, the women working there seemed to lack professionalism and basic customer service skills. No one should feel unwelcome or dismissed when they are spending their hard-earned money. I will not be returning and hope the management invests in better customer service training.

I've been serviced by both before, and I prefer the gentleman because he's more gentle, while the older lady accidentally cut my toe in the past. I told the front desk that I would like to wait for the gentleman to finish his current client so I could be serviced by him. I waited for about an hour, and then I noticed the front desk lady speaking to the staff in another language. Shortly after, the gentleman finished with his client and then left the salon. The older lady then gestured for me to take a seat, but I explained again that I was waiting for the gentleman. The front desk lady told me that he had gone home and that if I didn't want to be serviced by the older lady, I would not be serviced at all. I politely declined, thanked them, and left. This was by far one of the most unprofessional and disappointing experiences I've had at a nail salon. The lack of communication and courtesy from the front desk was unacceptable. I called ahead to ask about coming in around 1:30 PM and was told no appointment was needed--just to come in. I arrived on time, picked my polish, and waited patiently. When I finally sat down, I explained to the nail tech that a previous professional had advised me to replace the acrylic due to cracking. Instead of hearing me out or simply checking my nails, she immediately dismissed me and said, "you should go back to them then." Let me be clear: the salon I went to previously was out of state while I was on a business trip. That response wasn't just unhelpful--it was flat-out disrespectful, especially considering how often Black women like myself frequent this salon and keep their business running. For a tech to so casually suggest I go elsewhere, without offering a solution or showing any professional courtesy, was insulting. This isn't the first time I've felt uncomfortable or undervalued here, but it will definitely be the last. What made it even clearer was walking right around the corner to another salon, where I was welcomed warmly, listened to with care, and received excellent service. They heard my concerns, offered solutions without attitude, and treated me like a valued client--exactly what I expect when spending my money. If you're going to profit off the loyalty of Black women, then at the very least, we deserve to be treated with respect. There are too many talented and professional techs out there who know how to provide both good service and dignity. I won't be returning to Queen Nail.
