So it's been over a decade since I've had a "nether region" wax. I had visions of the Marquis de Sade and iron maidens. . . . Well, I was absolutely off the mark! Laura made me feel absolutely comfortable. AND her work is efficient and thorough. Plus, she's a sweetie who was born and raised in Alameda. I plan to get all my esthetic needs met with Laura. read more

Lovely experience with Laura. Easy to communicate & schedule. Her space is clean and relaxing. The treatment included some light arm and shoulder massage which was so delightful, as not all facial spas provide this. read more

Incredible bedside manner and expertise with skin care. The experience felt truly customized and not rushed. Extra touches like the arm and hand massage make for a unique experience. My dry skin feels moisturized even the day after and the irritation from my comedonal acne is gone. Looking forward to my next session. read more

My gal stopped doing below the belly button waxing. Afyer a decade, I was so disappointed. But today I got an appt with Laura. The Brazilian wax was as expected. And she Cleaned up those tiny leftover hairs with a tweezers. Yea! Re-booked with Laura as soon as it was done. I believe this will be a regular thing. read more

Highly recommended! Came for brows and a facial. Workspace was clean, warm vibe, and comfortable. Laura is friendly and patient. She did an awesome job with the brows and facial. Laura took her time and didn't rush the facial. Face was decongested and cleansed. Definitely coming back again. read more

I have been going to Laura for almost a decade. I have lost track of time and what has stood the test of time is Laura's unwavering care, meticulous work, and excellent service. She helps me look my best. I get compliments on my eyebrows and clear skin. I have a routine facial wax appointment, and I would not go to anyone else. Not only does Laura handle my skin with care, she provides me with a caring and relaxing environment. It is enjoyable to go in for serivices at her clean, cute salon and visit with her. She is so warm, personable, and friendly and knows her craft. She always provides me with excellent recommendations too that I act on. I highly recommend Laura! read more

Laura did a wonderful job with shaping/waxing my eyebrow and tint. Im very happy with the results and already made my next appointment!!

Laura is so sweet and is an amazing esthetician! She's so delicate while she works! She definitely makes you feel relaxed! After the treatment my skin was GLOOOOWING!! My face had been freshly exfoliated from the spatula she uses, helped with my uneven skin tone and minimized my pores! I also noticed the little bumps around my forehead were gone! Love her would definitely recommend! (The picture is a screen shot from a video, I didn't take any pics that day) read more

Glow Skin Therapy - Skin after the classic facial treatment!!! - Skin Care Near Me - Alameda, California

What a wonderful afternoon of pampering by Laura! I enjoyed a Classic facial which included a hand massage. My skin hasn't been treated so nicely in a comfortable, relaxing environment in a while! See for yourself! read more

I come to Laura for "face" waxing (eyebrows, moustache, chin). She does an excellent job. She is thorough, and tries to make the experience as pleasant as possible. She is friendly and interested in what you have to say, not just what she wants to talk about. Her office/salon is very clean and restful. I highly recommend her services. read more

Laura is great with my skin. She has waxed, and done my facials. She extracts all the blackheads and makes my face look brand new!

I have a usual waxer down in LA that I have a routine with, and when I found myself out of town during my scheduled ...*ahem* maintenance time, I looked around and found Glow Skin Therapy. This newly opened studio uses organic, vegan products and offers private services. When I say private, I mean...it is literally you and the owner, Laura. Talk about personalized attention. Laura did a great job and I loved the products she used on me - all natural products, including beeswax shipped from Spain. She was so thorough that I may try and fit in a trip to this studio on my future trips back home. And the best part? Her rates are so reasonable. I love supporting small businesses and would definitely encourage you to check out Laura and her studio for your beauty needs. read more

Laura is THE BEST! I realized, after my second wax with her, that I get very slow regrowth after one of her waxes because she's very meticulous about removing hair at the root. I've only encountered one other waxer, ever, who was able to do that. It's a rare talent, really. Because of this, I only have to visit her every 6 weeks, though I could probably push it to 8 weeks. True story: my cheap ass found her through Groupon. However, I used up my three waxes and decided to purchase another series of three waxes at full price. Guess what? Still ridiculously reasonably priced compared to the competition for incomparable quality of service. I will continue to see Laura until the day I die. read more

Laura, you are outstanding!!! I went to Laura for my first Brazilian. I have had bikini waxes before, but the idea of a Brazilian was daunting. I have to say that Laura is amazing at her craft. I was afraid to enter a salon that made me feel out of place as a full figured girl, but the room is cozy, small, and Laura is super professional and sweet - I never felt uncomfortable around her. I took some pain meds before because I was nervous about the pain, but she uses a hard wax that doesn't hurt nearly as much as strip wax. I was in and out of there in 20 minutes. Really only the first pull hurts. She was so good that I even added an underarm wax. If you are looking for a new go-to girl for all your waxing needs, Laura is it! Do yourself a favor and see this girl! read more

I've had a really good experience here. Laura was very personable and my session was very private and comfortable. She uses a hard wax which is great because the sticky waxes are really messy and they leave a residue. I also appreciated that she was thorough, going back with a tweezer for any strays. Our conversation was nice too. I would definitely book another appointment with her. read more

I used Laura's services twice, and both times I got amazing facials! My previous experience with facials had been dreadful, and I didn't know what to expect, but Laura was so gentle with my skin, and it all felt really good! I love all the products she uses - they all smell and feel great! Finally, Laura has such a pleasant, nice personality, and she makes you feel so comfortable, and it makes the whole experience even better! I really recommend Glow Skin Therapy if you want to treat yourself and feel pampered! read more

If I can give more I definitely will say 10 stars. Laura is amazing and this place is magical, I went to my appointment not sure what to expect and I was speechless when I arrived, the place smells wonderful it instantly makes me feel relaxed and wait until she started working her magic on you it's not words to express how good this experience was, if you haven't tried yet do your self a favor and book an appointment right now, after almost two weeks my skin still feels soft and hydrated and has a beautiful healthy glow. read more

I have been going to Laura for over a year now and I really refuse to go to anyone else... like, ever. Firstly, Laura is a professional who knows her stuff and I have always felt very taken care of with her. She does her best to make it quick and as easy as she can. I can also say something I have always appreciated about her is that she makes you feel comfortable. I, myself, am a big girl and can feel very self-conscious, especially considering I go to her mainly for Brazilian waxing. Because of this, I'm very self-aware but I have never felt awkward, uncomfortable or fearful. Let's be honest, it can be intimidating, but as I said, she is a professional and always makes me feel at ease. She is always very careful and gentle, considering what she is doing, and makes sure I'm happy and comfortable when I leave. While I have only gone to her for waxing so far, I have my first facial treatment with her booked later this month and I am very excited to add this to my regular self-care routine. Do yourself a favor, if you've been on the fence about visiting her or ANY esthetician, you should set yourself up a consultation with her. She's wonderful and I'm very grateful I've found her. read more

Holy cow, thank you Yelp for helping me find this amazing esthetician! I was having major congestion in my tzone and Laura took excellent care. My skin looks great. Very excited to have found an amazing local facialist. read more

I came to Glow back in December for some waxing. The location was close to my place and parking was easy. Laura's studio is located in a larger house (that occupies other businesses) but her space was clean and cozy. Laura was very friendly, professional and put my nerves to rest. Waxing is never a fun thing but she made the whole experience painless and fast! She did a clean and thorough job and the result was great! I'd recommend coming to see Laura for your waxing needs. Nothing felt rushed and I felt very comfortable. Would return again! read more

Very happy to have found Laura for my first Brazilian wax experience. She was kind, gentle, speedy, and efficient. She also made me feel very comfortable! The room is very neat and clean which is always something I look at first. It's a few days after my appointment and I'm still baby smooth and irritation free. I am so excited for my next appointment. Thank you Laura!!! read more

I found Laura through Groupon and I have been a repeat customer for the past 2 years! I have tried a couple other places, but I prefer that Laura uses hard wax, and she was able to offer a reasonable rate. Her hours are also great with my sometimes hectic schedule. Laura is also super sweet and she is a fun person to talk with. I highly recommend her! read more

Laura is such a sweet person and so professional! I highly recommend her for waxing services. In fact I'm going back to see her this weekend :) Last month was my first visit to an esthetician for waxing. Without saying too much, it was as easy of an experience as it could've been. LOL Laura is very welcoming and with such a friendly demeanor, she puts you right at ease. The conversation was nice as well. No creepiness or awkward silences and gives just enough info so you know what to expect without getting the play by play. I would definitely recommend her to anyone nervous about.......stuff... ;) She's great at what she does! I'm so glad to have found her. She is also very reasonably priced plus I used the Yelp deal! read more

I found Laura thanks to all the great yelp reviews. I'm 8 months pregnant and needed to get a bikini wax before the big day comes. Laura is flexible in her scheduling which is a big plus and it's easy to text her for an appointment. I felt super comfortable with her once I arrived and the appointment was painless, quick and thorough. I am so happy to have found a place that's so close to home and I will definitely be a repeat client! read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Laura at Glow Skin Therapy!! I moved out here to the Bay Area about 2 years ago and was in search of my go-to Esthetician.......specifically for waxing services. New to the area I pretty much relied on Yelp, Groupon, and Living Social to try new businesses. I actually found Laura on a Groupon and honestly thought it would be just a one-time visit to this business. But I am so happy that I was wrong. After my first visit I was hooked and I've been with Laura ever since. She also does amazing facials too. It's so awesome to be able to have one Esthetician that is actually great at doing both. I love her services so much that I've already paid for them a year in advance. She was running a Black Friday special after Thanksgiving and I made sure I jumped on that deal. It's well worth the investment considering how pricey waxing and facial services can be. Laura is super friendly, honest, professional, and she uses products that makes my skin feel so good after. Her workspace is very clean, tools and products are organized and sanitized. She makes me feel very comfortable at all my appointments. If you're looking for a great Esthetician for your facial and waxing services, go see Laura. You will not be disappointed. read more

In need of a facial, and not the kind of guy to randomly pick by chance from a phone book, I turned to my tried and true - Yelp.com Glow Skin Therapy not only had amazing reviews, that I could really trust, but there was also a Yelp Deal. Score and Score! I had a facial and eye brow waxing last Sunday. Laura is amazing, her office is easily located on Central just past Park Street, and is in a quaint old house in Alameda. The soothing aroma's, tranquil sounds of music, and the warm towels made me feel so pampered. My skin feels rejuvenated, and fresh. When I'm in need of another facial, Laura has my business. Also I am very thankful that she took my near miss uni-brow problem and cleaned my eyebrows up to way they should look. read more

I feel so lucky to have found Glow Skin Therapy but more specifically Laura. I came to Laura for a Brazilian and the results were great. She does a very thorough job and is super conscious and respectful of the fact that waxing hurts! I originally started going to Glow Skin through a Groupon but because of such a great experience I plan to continue coming to Laura for a very long time. I definitely recommend Glow Skin Therapy to anyone in need of a little grooming!!! read more

Laura is wonderful! She does a great job waxing and aims to make the process as painless as possible. She is very patient and professional, and does a beautiful job of making you feel at ease. I found her through Groupon originally, and I really appreciate how flexible she is with coordinating appointments. I'm a graduate student and my schedule is often hectic, but she is so sweet and understanding. She often has some type of special going on, whether it be a package deal for waxes or a skin care treatment. Which is great if you want to try something out for the first time. read more

What can I say, Laura is AMAZING! I have had a few facials before, but I was especially impressed with this quaint studio. I thought the way Laura had everything set up from the chair to the products was so professional, yet comfortable. I found her to be extremely knowledgeable of skin care as she was explaining each step to me as she continued with the facial. I loved the fact that her product line are all natural and organic. She has a very calm demeanor and a soft touch. I highly recommend Glow Skin Therapy! read more

Laura is amazing! I came here for a Brazilian wax, which always involves some awkwardness and discomfort. With Laura, however, it was a totally pleasant and positive experience! She is a lovely woman, highly skilled in her craft and perfectly personable. I can imagine she could make anyone feel comfortable and at home in her studio, even without any pants on.. The wax she uses is indeed the best I've ever encountered. I usually wax my own eyebrows etc, and have looked into many different kinds of waxes. Hers takes the cake. All in all, I'm coming back to Laura and it would be in your best interest to trust her with your beauty concerns. It's also definitely worth the drive, if you don't live in Alameda :) read more

Laura is professional and patient. I like that she listens and ask questions about the services because it's really important that when I'm getting work done the person understands what I need. Parking is limited because it's near residents. read more

Like a lot of guys, I never had a facial and didn't know what to expect. It turned out to be a great experience. Laura's work area was very clean but also relaxing, with little details like a comfortable work table to lie on, pleasant aroma therapy, and relaxing music. As a first timer and someone who is tense in general, Laura took great care to put me at ease and create a calm environment. I especially appreciate that she explained everything before doing it. Soon I was totally relaxed and enjoying being pampered. I could have almost taken a nap but I would have missed out on some of the experience. I'll spare the gory details but Laura did a great job cleaning out my pores and making my skin feel clean and refreshed. Additionally, she waxed my eyebrows and they came out fantastic - no "surprised" look. Laura also recommend some home skin care treatments and practices to keep me looking good until my next visit, which is absolutely happening! So if you're looking for a fantastic esthetician in Alameda, you've found the right spot. read more

You won't be disappointed. Laura is super sweet, great at her profession, and really understanding. I am so happy I found her, and will be a long term client. I found Laura on Yelp after I moved from SJ to Alameda, and was bummed that I was leaving the waxologist I was very loyal to. I searched and searched for a hard wax option in Alameda (there aren't many). I reached out to Laura, but she wasn't able to take me on since she had a personal issue at the time. I had 2 BAD experiences at European Wax Center, and vowed not to go back. I reached out to Laura again a few weeks later, and (thankfully) she was back in action. She has a very accommodating schedule and I was soooo glad she was able to see me the following Saturday. By the way, I live across the street (um, really? Yes. This is awesome). However, (worst first-time client behavior ever), I didn't realize I had another event I HAD to attend. So I walked in and told her, and she was so sweet, polite, and forgiving. We immediately booked my next appointment, and I was very happy with the results. She is so kind, makes you feel very at easy. She has a soft voice, comfortable room, and great conversation. Her prices are affordable and worth the value. A little FYI... Her room is in a super cute home on the corner of the block. Go into the door to the right of the nail salon, up the stairs, and through the open door on the right. There is a sofa to wait (although she usually waits ON the sofa for me to arrive). She has you fill out a short form for insurance. She then brings you in, and you know how the rest goes. I even took advantage of the Yelp check-in offer for a discount!! I haven't done any skin care services, only waxing, but I hope to soon. Today I booked my third appointment (fourth if you count my terrible first-time cancellation). My next appointment is late in the evening, which is perfect for my commute back from SF. Go to Laura! You will love her! read more

Laura is amazing! She made my first Brazilian wax a great experience--I plan to keep going back to her for as long as I'm living here. I purchased the groupon deal for three waxes, and even after I finish those I plan to go back because her prices are so much more affordable than others in the area. She provides such a comfortable experience for something that could be completely awkward. Her converses with you and prepares you well, making the experience as painless as possible. Her products are great as the well. The bees wax she uses is imported and worked wonderfully. She also sells products for upkeep at affordable prices and the one I purchased is great. Definitely looking forward to getting back, Laura is awesome(: read more

LAURA THANK YOU. I just got my first Brazilian ever today. Laura is the most sweetest person ever, she makes sure everything is comfortable and it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. If I had to rate the pain between 1-10 it would be a 1.5. She made my first experience so comfortable and relaxing, she is now my go to girl. Listen to these reviews, she is amazing. read more

Went to Laura for the first time today and my experience was AMAZING! She is located in a neat little building. There are plenty of signs once you get in the building and her address is visible from the street. I drove in from Oakland, and was so excited to find a place close to me. This was my 3rd time getting a Brazilian Wax, but my first with her. In the past my waxes have take FOREVER and were painful! But Laura was quick and painless! She got everything and did it all under 25 minutes. Laura is very friendly, professional and reassuring. She was constantly making sure I was comfortable and checking in with me. I will definitely be going back to her! I'd much rather have personalized service from a privately owned business with a wax specialist than a big chain like the European Wax Salon. So lucky to have found this little gem in Alameda. read more
