Never again I'm coming this location. My nail technician didn't talk at all, she wasn't dressed like she was ready for work (didn't walked barefoot the entire time), and she was very rough during the whole process of my manicure session. When she filed my nails, she was so rough that it felt like she was filing my finger down too. She was very quick and with shakey hands I was nervous that she'll mess up, but oh wells I couldn't so much. I only came here because it was close to my house and it was $25 for gel manicure, but comparing to Lisa's Nails in Oakland by Lakeshore, they were MUCH MORE gentle and took their time and effort to help you out for the same price; much better experience. This location is dirty and the cloths looked unsanitary. I don't recommend coming here; you're better off somewhere else sorry USA nails. read more

Such a nice and clean shop! In a great location by the Goodwill! (So you can shop after!) Susan is amazing. She is a Pro and knows Exactly what she is doing! She is down to earth and friendly as she works which makes clients feel welcomed and not RUSHED! They offer you beverages too which is cool also. I love it here! I moved to Oakland recently and haven't found my go to nails spot yet, but I'm happy to report that this place is a decent option. I paid $28 (before tip) for a gel mani. I was pretty clear about the size and shape I wanted, and the woman who worked on my nails was responsive and checked in with me about it. I'm also really impressed that they have matching colors, for each gel there's a matching color of regular polish so you can match fingers and toes. It was quiet when I arrived, I'd called ahead to see if they could see me. They got me into a chair quickly and the place remained fairly quiet and relaxing while I was there. A few other people were getting work done but it still seemed calm, which is a plus. I'd say a handful of people came and went while I was there but it seemed really calm and quiet the whole time anyway. It was also really clean and the tools were properly sterilized. I had a bad experience recently with a walk in place and I've been watching more closely since then. Subtracting one star for not really dealing with the edges after the gel was done. I knew I'd want to file and slightly soften the square edges where they were a little sharp so I wasn't too concerned. Still, it's not quite kosher to send someone home with gel sticking to their cuticle a little because you didn't do a quick file on the sides. I'll attach pics from right after I walked out and from later after having done just a little filing to soften/round the corners a touch. I'm going to say this is a really solid option, but I'll keep looking for my go to spot. read more

Didn't mean to come here in the first place and I'm never going back. I was walking down MacArthur trying to go to Forever nails, looked in to USA to check it out then kept going. I swear this woman came out running after me and yelling, convinced me to come in cause there was "no wait". No shame but she spoke very little English and couldn't understand what I wanted. She was rough, nearly shaved all my nails off, then didn't put enough coats of the polish on. I kept asking her to do another coat and then she was just putting on the clear top coat. I got a gel mani. I asked for a design too on two nails and she just ignored me. read more

Another salon made my acrylic too thick so they worked to make sure this set was done correctly. Plus, they let me keep my nail file and gave me a punch card. I've been going to Susan for years when she was the former owner of A Nail Today and have even commuted from SF just to see her! She not only can do an awesome silk wrap but is (in my opinion) one of the best nail techs I've ever had. Skilled and shapes them exactly how I ask. Recently I came I'm asking for an ombre french design and she explained to me that's done with acrylic powder (the powder cant be applied on silk wrap which I much prefer over acrylics) but instead of telling me to pick something else she took the extra time to create the look with gel polish and it came out perfect! I paid $32 for this FILL. Not even a full set. They charge you $2 to use a credit or debit card...so unfair! I've seen places charge $1 more but seriously...$2? Only came here cause the shop I usually go to next door is closed on Monday's and I needed a fill bad. My usual place charges $26 for a full set and $20 for a fill! Can't believe I paid so much... I called and asked if they could take me in and they said sure. Got there in 10 mins and then 15 mins later, customers started coming. My nail tech started working faster, which I didn't mind because she didn't hurt me and she was still making sure it was nice. Overall, I like my nails but $32 for a fill? No thanks. It's advertised as $25+ for a fill and $5 for a shape change. Then i didn't have enough cash so an extra $2 charge, which i didn't mind cause i was gonna tip her $5 total but i made it an even $35 so only tipped her $3. That's what happens when they want to charge more for using credit... Anyways back to my nails, i had long, pointy nails and i told her to cut it down and she made it super short and squared like I asked. But does that actually warrant an extra $5? I mean I made it less work...I understand it's $5 for a shape change but I would think that's for people who want a more complex shape. She took her time and made sure I liked it. She also painted really well, however the color I got is super light so any bad strokes and it looks off. There's some bad strokes but you can't tell unless you look really close under lighting. I won't keep this set long and will need to return to my usual nail shop in a few weeks because wow! $32 for a fill? No design, chrome, nada. Just a basic gel fill. Nope, sorry won't come back cause I am not spending $32 for a fill again. read more

This is the best shop I have found in my neighborhood. My pedicure was done with sealed, sterilized tools. The foot bath was lined with a disposable liner and Cindy used single use rubber gloves. Very clean trimming or cuticles with good scrubbing of my feet. Salt scrub with lime slice was great too. The application of nail polish was done with care. My fill reshape and fill was done by Susan. I love fun trendy nails and was a little concerned when when the technician I wanted was no longer here. Susan put my concerns to rest with her friendly approach and 20 yrs of experience. The only drawback was that I wasn't able to get the design I desired because they didn't have the gold strips. No big problem. I'm very happy with the design we decided on. Price was competitive. read more

I came here because my regular shop was closed a month or so ago, i needed my nails done for an interview asap the next day. im very peculiar about my nails, hair everything and my experience here was very underwhelming. I got long french tip coffin shaped nails, acrylic set and i paid 60$ though usually susan charged 70. The service was ok, I do appreciate that you have to make an appointment to be seen i hate waiting when I already called ahead, thats a pro but the big thing here was the outcome of my nails, they weren't done like the picture shown, i'll pay any price for my nails as long as its GOOD, the ombre was okay on two nails but on my other 8 nails it looked a hot mess. I wouldn't go here again unless it was my very last resort because I refuse to pay high amounts on nails not to my liking. I started going to USA Nails 2.5 years ago after moving to the area and have yet to be let down. My nails always look incredible -- from their shape to the paint job, Susan is consistent in her attention to detail. Since then, I've averaged a visit every 2-2.5 weeks for a new gel set but only because my nails grow quickly, never because of chipping, fading, peeling, etc. When I moved to Castro Valley in February, I tried to go to a local salon and was so disappointed when comparing their work to Susan's that I now (gladly) commute 20+ minutes on the freeway to this salon. If I could, I'd give Susan more stars... can not recommend her highly enough! read more

This is my go to place when my other nail shop is busy. I've never had to wait for a technician to assist me. They do decent work here and want you to return. It is a bit more expensive than the other shop I visit. This place is close to my home and convenient. They have a wide selection of colors to choose from. They are efficient. I can be in and out in 45 minutes for a manicure and pedicure. I have yet to get a gel manicure or acrylic set, so I can't review those services. If you are short on time and like to get a mani/pedi this is the spot to go to. Note: This shop has been under a few different owners over the years. The new owners have remodeled and the shop is more brighter. Stop by if you're in the Laurel district. read more

Yep. This is the spot. Fit me and my sister in at 6:55 when they closed at 7:00 and did EXCELLENT work. Though we arrived (with no appointment) right before closing, they were gracious and took no short cuts. My extremely funky feet/ nails were restored to normalcy by their pedicure after a month of camping in Alaska and the entire process was very pleasant. Highly recommended. read more

Every time I've been in since the first great experience it's been so-so, today was pretty bad... got a pedi and a full set acrylic. First thing that peeved me was when I asked her to do my cuticles she informed me "5 dollar extra"... hmm, okay. Then I showed her the shape I wanted for my nails- longer with squared sides (ballet) she said "5 dollar extra". Are you kidding me?! What's the logic behind that. The lady doing my hands was extremely sloppy, and took over TWO HOURS. I gave up pointing out oddly shaped/ uneven nails about halfway through, not to mention she cut me 3 times. Three. This place definitely offers great service, the nail clean up is good, the massage could be better and a bit longer, and the paint job is precise(they don't get Polish in your skin) . I tend to get ingrown toe nails and this is one of the few places that has been able to get them out without pain or bleeding.
