I last minute decided to try this spot as it's closeby, had availability on short notice and seemed like the reviews weren't too bad. I'm extremely particular with my nails and felt like I wanted to try something new but even from the phone call to schedule the appointment itself was rude, tool cleanliness was not the best and the paint job itself was rushed I had to go to my regular salon to fix them as they also shaped my right toe slanted which has never been that shape. I wouldn't go back and for anyone that is particular with their pedicures please be aware of the quality you're getting. read more

Been coming here a long time, mostly because the work is normally high quality and long lasting. Today was different. It was busy, which isn't unusual for a Saturday morning. However my nail tech today (she may possibly be the owner or manager or both) was constantly answering her phone from clients, checking on other clients in the salon, working on others while also working on my service. The end result? A longer than normal service, really rough cuticle area and uneven nail shape from filing. I hope this is a one off situation and not going to be the norm. read more

I needed to get my nails ready for the holidays and got Helen this time to help with my fill. She was super nice, and I didn't have to say much for her to even know exactly what I wanted. My friend and I had an appointment at 4:45 pm but still waited around 30-40 minutes, which was a bit of a bummer, but I was able to walk around and grab some things I needed. After seated, I just told Helen I wanted to change my shape from square to short almond, and I wanted red catseye. (I LOVE their collection of catseye here) She immediately knew what I was talking about and said no problem, I know what you want. I was worried at first since she didn't show me the book, but she literally got the color I had in my mind. The shape she did and the color she painted were so nice!! I originally wanted only the heart design on my ring something simple on the others, but she added all the others designs on my other nails and made it super fun. Overall, I really enjoyed this fill and love how it turned out!! read more

LOVE coming here! I included photos of my most recent sets from here. They all looked so good!! Usually I am skeptical about certain nail salons being able to achieve intricate designs (I've had a lot of failed experiences at other places) but so far Nails@Southshore has been delivering!! And because they are so reasonably priced, it makes me want to frequently go back to get my nails updated without feeling like I have to sell an arm and a leg LOL. The only downside is that I noticed that this salon doesn't put as much emphasis on cuticle clean up, but that's something I'm okay with as the nail itself is what I care more about! So just FYI! I wanted to give this shop another try because the first time l came, I got gel x and they were super clean and pretty and their pedicures always come out so neat. Aesthetically they're pretty good. I came in yesterday and it wasn't super busy as it has been the past two times I've been. I came in to do a gel builder and gel pedi combo. The lady that did my pedicure was through, kind, and my toes turned out great! So clean! At the same time, another lady started working on my hands and I knew she knew her stuff but honestly she kept stopping and talking the entirety of my appointment. I usually don't mind when the nail technicians talk amongst each other but it was excessive this time around especially because she'd stop just to talk to other people and although I'd say it didn't take super long, it was a bit uncomfortable to just sit there. On top of that, one of my nails has already chipped and I haven't necessarily done much since getting them done not even 24 hours ago, and a one nail has something under the gel. Cleanliness is a huge thing too and it doesn't seem like they throughly clean the materials used (towels, hand dryers, etc). Price wise is pretty fair but I'm not sure if I'd come back. Update: another nail just chipped lol. read more

I love my nails! I came in not sure what I wanted, since I usually get Gel-X, but once we saw how long and healthy my natural nails were, we decided to keep them -- and I'm so glad we did. The pedicure was beautiful as always, and Lily did an amazing job on my manicure. We did a French tip with a gold accent and a little diamond bling for the perfect classy sparkle. Decided to visit based on a friend's recommendation and I had time to do my nails prior to a trip. I was a walk-in, so there was quite a wait until I could be seen, so appointments are highly recommended before coming in the future. This was my first time getting Gel-X nails with a design, and I was not disappointed! They do their best to follow the pics and design you bring to them, and the attention to detail definitely shines in the results. The nail colors are very vibrant and stand out in a beautiful way. Regarding the length of my nails, I wanted them as short as possible but still able to fit a design in - which my nail tech was able to accommodate wonderfully. Price-wise, Gel-X nails begin at $55 and + $20 for the design. Unfortunately I do not reside in this area, but if I were to visit again I will definitely make sure to pay a stop here and get my nails done! read more

I requested round tips for manicure and got a knife shape tips instead. Both manicure and pedicure women were dismissive, curt, and talking the whole time . Manager is useless as two manicurist run the salon. Owners need to come to salon and implement better service. Picture made the day after. read more

Came here on a Thursday afternoon and they were busy! People just kept coming in and out so I recommend making an appt beforehand if possible I didn't have to wait too long for a gel manicure with builder gel and regular pedi since I called beforehand. They are also really reasonably priced which I love! I used to spend $120+ but here it was around $90 before tip. Lily did my nails and she was quick but also precise. I will definitely be coming back! read more

I'm so happy I found this place! I've been trying to find a good nail salon in Alameda since I've moved here and I finally have found a place where I can say-- I LOVE how my nails turned out. Clean, perfectly shaped! they are so thorough here! They got me right in on a Friday evening around 4 o'clock. Lily is AMAZINGGGG! I want to tell the world how great she is but then i'm also conflicted because then she will be booked, and I'll never be able to get in, but she's so worth the wait. Super kind, super patient, super bubbly, always fair with design pricing and does THE BEST DESIGNS. I LITERALLY SHOW HER A PICTURE, AND SHE DOES IT EXACTLY LIKE THAT. This is my third time going and I love it so far. Every time I show them my inspo pic, they find the tech who can do it and it's done perfectly. It's nice that they care enough to find the right tech for you. I got a cat eye builder gel fill for $53!! What a great deal, the prices are awesome. This afternoon I was rushing to find a nail salon in the area for a gel-x set before I head on vacation, I stumbled upon Nails at Southshore on yelp for its good ratings. I can definitely attest the experience owned up to its reputation, they took me as a last minute appointment and saw me right away. Super sweet staff and this is likely one of my favorite sets I have had!! I believe my nail tech's name was Lani and she put a lot of detail into my nails. Highly disappointed with the service! It was rushed despite it not being busy. They didnt clean my hands, nails or cuticles. Just did a paint job. And I had to ask them to correct the crooked shape twice which led to no paint on the sides which they didnt fix. Definitely not worth the money I paid. Will not be going back. read more

I've been searching near and far for my go-to nail salon and I have finally found my spot! This place is clean and the staff is very honest, friendly, and does great work. Lily does incredible manicures and is able to execute PERFECTLY on what I'm looking for. I'm very particular with my nails and have been happy with everything she's done. My nails also last super long, which I've found can be tough to come by. She's super consistent and has great attention to detail. I highly recommend this place and will only be going here from now on! read more

I was recommended this spot by a friend! While the prices are cheap I feel like it matches the quality, I got gel x and gel on my toes, the french tip on my toes wasn't super even and my fingernails weren't the cleanest looking either... I also did leave with one finger bleeding a bit In all though, the nails looked generally good so I can't complain too much and in all it cost about $120? So not toooo bad read more

It's not clear how much each service is and I didn't see a pricing list in store. There's a 10% discount for first-time visitors but somehow I still paid the same as another customer who got a gel mani/pedi when I only did a gel mani. This is such a calm and relaxed salon with gentle music. What a find. I love the self check in. The choice of polish , gel and regular is wonderful and displayed logically. My friend had a cat eye tip French gel manicure don by Amy and you know you have an amazing person when your nails come out better than the IG post.

Been coming here forever. Staff makes you feel at home. Latest set was perfect. If you're thinking of trying them, go--they're worth it.

Luckily, Kathy was super understanding and friendly, she took her time with the service and checked in frequently during the pedicure. Initially, I was undecided on nail color choices, and Kathy brought out multiple options and helped me choose a nice shade. The nail salon is clean, comfortable, well-maintained and located in a convenient area. I was very happy with the overall service and the customer service was excellent. I'd definitely consider returning in the future!

The reason for 3 stars is solely dependent on the amount of time, and how much the services costed, a minor service issue as well, not terrible though. This is my first time here, i was taking a stroll on park and saw this place and peaked in and saw how luxurious and clean it looked, very big open space, lots of massage chairs, so i decided to pop and see for myself. So i stroll in around 4:30pm, for a new set and gel pedi. Typically both services take me at most 2 hours. I get sat down to remove my current acrylic set, this probably took at least 30-45 minutes. From the filing, to the soaking, removal, soaking again, and removal again. This is the longest I've ever experienced a removal. Then comes the cutting and shaping of my natural nails to prep for my new set. Finally i get moved to a massage chair to start my pedicure. I opted for the deluxe so this comes with a variety of things, from what i can remember, at least 2 masks, scrub, 10 minute massage, and hot rocks after. The total for this was $70, which is way more than what i would've normally paid at different locations, but I'm not knocking it, just isn't in my range but can be for someone else. Quality isn't great, but isn't bad. This is where my service issue/frustration comes in. My pedicure took almost 45 mins, and finally someone comes to start my set, or so i thought. She kept moving around, from one person to another, helping another client in between, but there are 3 other workers. I then get moved to a table, and I'm waiting again for about 10 minutes. She sits back down with me, and i thought okay great we're starting forreal now. Nope, we weren't. There was another client waiting, and she stops what she's doing with me, the gentlemen comes over and she moves to help the other client and he's now my nail tech. It is now 6:38pm and we're finally starting my set. Precise time because i was texting my bf to let him know bc this process was just taking so long. And i kid you not, the process from putting on the gel x nails, to shaping, filing, etc etc, i didn't walk out of there until 8:12pm. I did a very basic paint with cat eye polish. Typically 2 layers of paint, but he painted at least 5 layers before starting the cat eye magnetic process... In total i paid $168, and tipped $20. The amount of time spent there and the cost of it all, and being moved around from one person to another, ultimately costed the 2 stars. But again, this is just my experience i am sharing, and not to deter your decision to visit, because the quality of work is there.

First of all, the service is ALWAYS friendly and they do a great job of acknowledging business that walks in and ensuring waiting clients are comfortable; offering water or tea upon entering and providing a spacious, clean and comfortable waiting area. Also, this salon has to be the CLEANEST and most organized nail salon on the island. With recent decor upgrades, it's an even more beautiful and relaxing space. I can appreciate a staff who pays attention to details other than the work they do on nails. Especially with nail service prices climbin in general, it's nice that the salon puts a huge effort for the space to feel luxe and comfortable. Anyway, I came in with bare nails that needed help after 2 months of Gel X sets and fills. I opted for hard gel over my natural (itty bitty) nails to add strength and durability while I grow my natural nails out. For anyone curious, it's very similar to acrylic over natural nails or nail tips but the material is gel based (I think polygel?) The nail tech was kind, patient and thorough. After about an hour of work, my nails looked revived and despite the short length of my natural nails, they still looked bomb and cute. A little sparkly top coat on top of the milky pink hard gel and my manicure was done. I can't wait for my fill appointment when my nails are a bit longer and can start to be shaped out to the medium-short almond length I'm aiming for.

I broke one nail the night before and asked for a gel x one to replace the broken nail. My hope was to maintain the length that I worked hard to grow. The technician chose a nail that didn't fit my finger at all. Proceeded to awkwardly place the nail and glued/cured it down. Not only is it lifted and separated, it's misaligned. I can literally fit a metal file between the real nail and the pressed on one. When I brought this up, she proceeded to tell me that my nail is crooked and that's the reason for the gap.. *cue angelah Johnson's skit* I asked her to take it off and to try an acrylic nail instead since she didn't seem to keen on gel x. She refused and instead filed the sides more to 'fix it'. Bottom line is this, there's really only one token person who does all the different services well. Everyone else either seems to be fillers for simple manicure and pedicures. I'm tired of spending my hard earned money on techs that don't know how to do something you ask but attempts anyway and will not take accountability for when they mess up. This is not a nail school and the prices don't reflect it either. I now have to pay someone else, somewhere else to fix the one nail after spending $90 here. Let this be a PSA: We work too hard to earn our money for these life luxuries. Don't let shops like this make you feel like you're the problem when you bring up their wrong doing. You deserve to get what you pay for. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST.

The space is very clean, bright, and inviting, and everyone who works there is friendly and welcoming. Tu is my go-to technician. She always takes the extra time to remove my stubborn calluses and cuts my nails exactly how I like them--nice and short, without me having to ask repeatedly. She takes real pride in her work, and my pedicure always looks perfect. She's also incredibly kind, which makes the whole experience even better. So to give them benefit of the doubt and called them this morning at 9:30 to make an appointment with the girl that had done my nails previously and specifically asked for her at 11:45. When I came in. She was just starting on someone's toes and I looked at her and I said hi, I have an appointment with you at 11:45, to which she looked bewildered. And the manager said oh well, you can go with the other girl. I told them this was not the point. If I made an appt with one person at a certain time why is it not honored. I will not be returning.
