Back in the day when I was regularly getting my nails done, the only option I had for extensions was acrylic. Now I'm getting back into it, and there are so many options! The nail techs consulted with me and explained to me the multitude of options. -Acrylic is the hardest and best if you work your hands -GelX is for when you add extensions to natural nails -Builder Gel is harder than gel and is for natural nails. -Gel a little harder than normal polish and also for natural nails The first time I went I got gel with Cateye. So cute. The set could have lasted me another week or two as there was no lifting. But, my nail cracked from the side. So I went a second time. This time I got builder gel. I could feel the difference in hardness. I have found that all the techs at NailEnvy are very meticulous and detailed with their work. The massages they give with their services is the perfect strength to relax your muscles. The designs they create on your nails are commensurate with the price you pay. Because they are creative and detailed, the designs are unique and awesome. They are so legit! The cost is comparable to other salons, not overpriced and competitive. As for cleanliness, their utensils and nail stations are clean. Making an appointment is super easy as they have a website where you can schedule at your convenience. If you want a specific nail tech, you need to call and make an appointment over the phone. But all of them are exceptional. The major distinction of this nail salon is the techs themselves. What's worse is they let me walk out with ridged nails, meaning they didn't bother to buff them or smooth them out. Unfortunately my experience left me disappointed. 2 stars because the French tip looks great, I like the color I chose and the nail application is solid. My manicurist cut the top of my toe while filing, and the subsequent application of alcohol and other things really freaking stung. I felt bad because accidents absolutely happen but yikes. Asking to have my nails cut down to the actual length I wanted felt like an annoyance to my other manicurist, so they're a bit too long. Color is pretty though! They overcharge you for everything and they have very limited selection of colours. They're also not clean. They will re-use tools without disinfectant. They talk about you in their language to other employees and your tip doesnt always go to the person who did your nails. I went twice and did not have a pleasant experience both times. I showed them an inspo pic and they said they could do it, however when it was time to actually do it, they told me they didn't have the colour i wanted and was called picky for not liking how my nails turned out. read more

I originally met Linh when she was new at a nail salon in Alameda. I was trying out a new shop and ended up in her chair. From the beginning she was very polite and attentive. I explained that my natural nails are thin and sensitive, and that I don't like aggressive drilling. She listened, was gentle, and took her time with the design I wanted. The appointment actually took over two hours, but I gave her grace because she mentioned she was still new and I appreciated how thorough she was. I tipped her well and from that point on I became a loyal client who only booked with her. Eventually she left that salon and moved to Envy, explaining that she hadn't been treated well at the previous location. I continued following her because when I find a nail tech I like, I stay loyal. I've never been someone who complains about paying for quality work, and I've also referred clients to her, including people with large social media followings. Unfortunately, since moving salons, the experience hasn't been the same. Her communication and attention to what the client actually asks for has changed. She tends to do more of what she prefers rather than what's requested. I've also noticed the quality of her square acrylic sets has declined, she relies heavily on the drill instead of clipping and filing, which sometimes gives the nails a "duck" shape rather than a clean square. Another issue is the pricing. Every appointment seems to come with a different price, even for similar sets. The prices are high and inconsistent. For example, she recently quoted my daughter $115 for a short full set with chrome, while the salon website states that full sets start at $65. That kind of jump feels unreasonable, especially when there's no clear breakdown of why. When I first started seeing Linh, there was more appreciation for loyal clients, even small gestures like birthday discounts. That sense of customer appreciation seems to be gone now. As someone who has consistently supported her work, tipped well, visited frequently, and referred clients, it's disappointing to feel like that loyalty isn't valued. I genuinely wanted to keep supporting her, but between the inconsistent pricing, declining attention to detail, and lack of appreciation for repeat clients, I can't honestly recommend booking with her anymore. read more

I came to this salon as a referral while my regular manicurist was on vacation. When I walked in, I checked the prices and saw the service was about $10 more than what I usually pay, which was fine. What was not fine was discovering that everything is charged separately, with no explanation upfront. I was charged for gel powder removal, adding gel, gel acrylic (which I did not ask for), French manicure, and chrome polish. I walked out paying $115, which was never discussed or clearly explained beforehand. On top of that, my nails are already long, yet the technician kept pushing me to add tips--which made no sense and felt like unnecessary upselling. I specifically asked for powder only, but I felt like he wasn't listening to what I wanted and instead kept telling me how my nails would look "when he was finished." There was no clear communication about pricing or services, and I felt pressured into add-ons I didn't request. Upon walking in, I was greeted and assisted right away for my 10:30am Monday appointment. It wasn't busy at all, & Linh was able to take her time with my nails and did a great job. I originally came in just for a full set, but after some convincing from Linh, I decided to get a pedicure too since my toenails were overdue. The service overall was great. Linh offered me water and was very thorough with filing and applying my nails. The process took about an hour and a half, and midway through I was moved to the chairs to begin my pedicure. As for the pedicure, the outcome looked nice, but the service itself was just okay. I didn't really get to soak my feet much since the tub wasn't filled deeply, and the exfoliation was minimal--barely any scrubbing at the bottoms of my feet. A little disappointing, but at least the finished look on my toes was clean and well done. The biggest shock was the price. My total came out to $150 ($165 with tip), which feels very steep to me. For comparison, I usually get Gel-X done in SoCal for $65 or less, add-ons included. Here in NorCal, I guess the market is different, but $100 for a simple nail design and $50 for a gel pedicure seems excessive. While the nails were executed well, the pricing just didn't match the level of service for me. Overall, I'd rate this place a solid 3.5-4/5. It's convenient, has parking across the street, and is a decent option if you don't mind paying premium prices. But if you're looking for more affordable service without sacrificing quality, I'd definitely recommend checking out home-based nail artists who don't charge as much for add-ons :) read more
