I am a huge fan of Torrid and I was pleased to find out that there was one located in the Sun Valley Mall, which is only five minutes away from my house. I have a diva style account so I get great coupons in the mail every month. I also get a discount with my Torrid credit card. I came in the other day to try on some outfits I was thinking about purchasing online, but I wasn't sure if they would fit right. I was greeted about two minutes after I entered the store. After I was greeted by Anginet, she asked me if I would like her to get a dressing room started for me, I said yes please! I first browsed through the tops/jackets clearance section to see if there were any gems hidden there. The tops/jackets clearance section was not organized in any way. Most Torrid locations I have been to usually have their clearance section organized by size, this location did not. Also, all throughout the store I found numerous tops that were inside out on the hangers (seriously Torrid customers?!). I even came across a shirt that was damaged and brought it to Amanda's attention. Sadly this store does not carry size 5 tops, which was disappointing because I love how flowy a size five chiffon tops look on me. Amanda did however randomly come across a size 5 top, which I ended up purchasing. I am a huge fan of chiffon tops! I moved here from San Diego thinking the weather would be a whole lot cooler and sadly it has not been. Chiffon tops look good and they do not make me feel extra hot (temperature wise) in this heat. I was the only customer in the store so Amanda and Anginet's customer service was exceptional. Both would immediately come up to me and take the clothes in my arms and put them in the dressing room set aside for me. While I was trying on clothes, Anginet checked on me periodically and even went and looked for a different size jacket that I really liked. I was finished trying on clothes and was ready to checkout five minutes before closing and not once did I feel like they were trying to rush me out of the store. read more

I think the clothes cost way too much for the quality you get and they take advantage of plus sized people who don't have many other fashionable options, but this review is for this particular store! The people working here have always been super friendly, helpful, and not to mention lovely! Returns have always been a breeze for me. I love, love, love Torrid. My friend first sent me a link to the website, but now that I have been in the store I feel like the Little Mermaid when she got her voice back. For some reason if you are, um, fat you have to wear a colorful sheet and a pair of clogs to be comfortable. Well, I am young, hot, vibrant, and sexy... I want to be looking sharp too. Torrid's apparel is great. It is youthful, fun, flirty and sexy. I fell in love when I walked through the door. Clothes that show off my good curves and hide the bad ones. They have clothes even my slender cousin loved, but she couldn't fit them (HAHA!!). If you are on the market for something that is classy, casual or just plain hot -- check out Torrid. Soooo torrid........... This is my problem with torrid. I am a curvaciously tall women and whenever i go to this store in particular there are NEVER any talls...It irritates me because the regulars are floods on me. The other thing i hate about torrid is their prices!!!!! It seems to me they never have any great sales and when they do its buy one get one half off instead of just dropping prices on single itmes... Lastly the thing that bothers me most is the jeans DO NOT LAST! If you look at what they are made of its mostly cotton and spandex. I get it we are curvier women so they are trying to cater to us and make a custom fit but i kid you not i bought a pair of their skinnies about 4 weeks ago and they are now ripped and destroyed. (I didnt buy them that way) lol I mean for the price the jeans better last at least a couple of months!! The only reason they get 2 stars is because of the customer service, the women are always extreamly helpful and sweet! read more

I like, not love, this store. I like it because I can generally stuff I like and it's the only place that sells Short Length jeans. I'm to tall for petite and to short for average length, so the short is perfect. My main issue is the prices! Gawds. $24 for a plain camisole? Ridiculous. Granted, the quality of clothing went up with the rebrand a few years ago but the prices skyrocketed! The bras don't fit me at all but I love their panties. I do find really cute dresses from time to time, but I always wait for a sale and hope that my size is still available. Customer service is hit or miss no matter what day or time. I left here with the biggest smile on my face today! I would like to thank the Torrid retail team and Veronica especially, for making me feel so welcomed and comfortable. You all made sure to greet me with your beautiful smiles and asked me if I had any questions which I appreciated. I tried on and fell in love with a short, black lace, long sleeve dress that I can without ego say: Made me look damn sexy! It truly fit me like a glove, which is rare for my shape but not at Torrid! When I got to the register to make my purchase (with a $50 gift card that I got for Christmas). The total was $52.30 and even though I had change in my wallet, I was still one dollar short and was for a moment, brokenhearted that I couldn't get that dress that I loved so much. That's when Veronica interjected and told me that they could make an exception for me. This simple gesture was good customer service at it best and it may seem like nothing to others but it really touched my heart. You see, I have been unemployed for quite some time and have been really depressed. The job search hasn't been easy but I just recently got one and am slowly getting my groove back. I am going out dancing this weekend and this gift card was my only chance at buying something to wear (until I get paid). Honestly, I could have cried right there in the store not just out of gratitude but because her kindness meant so much to me. She was incredibly sweet the whole time and didn't once make me feel bad. It was then brought to my attention by the cashier that the dress I chose qualified for the "Buy one, get one free" sale that they were having. Thrilled, I went back over over to the sale section and chose a grey, long sleeve shirt with a large skull in the center and cheetah print on half of the sleeves. I then made my purchase. But a couple of minutes later my balance was only thirty cents; which means Veronica comped me two dollars! I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH VERONICA! I hope you get the recognition you deserve. I would recommend this store to anyone, aside from the experience I had today. The Concord location is very clean, great ambiance, well organized, friendly staff and decent prices for great plus size clothing and accessories. I walked in and no one greeted me , no one asked if I needed help the entire time I was there . I had items to try on , so I stood by the dressing room and waited a few minutes and no one came . so I then walked to the checkout counter they just kept having their conversation ( the three workers), I then said excuse me , may I have a dressing room , it was a few seconds of silence , then one lady said yes I will after the other two didn't say anything or attempt to help me .They were just rude and it was very awkward because I never had trouble at a Torrid ever ! read more

I have been a loyal customer for YEARS. This post is about the company as a whole NOT the Concord store. BEWARE THE HAUTE CASH IF YOU ORDER ONLINE! These coupons are not to help the consumer save. It is a scheme to get you to spend more money in the store or online. For example: I ordered online: 2 leggings and 2 jackets in 2 different sizes because I wasn't sure which size would fit. I also used 2 $25 haute cash coupons which would work on 1 legging and 1 jacket because that subtotal was over $100. ( I was never going to keep all 4 items) So, I go in store to return 2 of the 4 items. Rather than Torrid taking the 2 $25 haute cash coupons off 2 full prices items they, discount each item individually and I'm basically out 1 $25 haut cash. What I should have paid $66 for with 2 haut cash off, I end up paying $100. I'm so upset and disappointed in Torrid. The associate couldn't do anything and the only thing customer service could offer me was another $25 haute cash on a future purchase. Are you serious? So, keep spending money in the store. Smh BEWARE OF THE HAUTE CASH!!!! Do orders individually to get he best deal. Oh and if you return by mail, you pay the cost for shipping. The customer doesn't win. read more

Wow, I don't wear anything from here but we frequent torrid for my wife. My biggest complaint is the bombardment of over selling at this store. They try to accessorize and up-sell you to anything and everything here. If my wife didn't like the clothes so much I would give this place 1 star. It's hard to look this good! But thanks to Torrid it's easy for me to find great dependable clothing that fits right when I'm in a rush and can't go hunting down cheaper alternatives. Hardly any tailoring ever needed. Especially with their Jeans! I'm short and have a huge problem finding jeans. Although their jeans average at $50+ (unless their having a sale) I can't afford them as often as I'd like. Their jeans last a long time though so that's always a plus. Torrid can be a bit pricey, and the quality of clothing isn't always the best (Used to work there, I saw it first hand) but it's a great place to go when you're looking for that last minute outfit, or like I said for their Jeans. Personally I wish they had more selection in vintage style dresses (like they used to when it was more hot topic orriented; Rockabilly) but that's just my own personal thing. read more

The clothes are super cute and always fit and flatter me perfectly. i avoid the goth crap section. The workers are friendly and helpful. I spend a lot here. however, several things are verrrry annoying about Torrid: - They are super strict about not letting you bring more than 5 things in the fitting room at a time. I go every few months and spend like $400. I gather tons of stuff to try on TOGETHER to see how they look mixed and matched. I can never try on my purchases together the way i want to. A few times i have gotten so annoyed that i almost put everything back and left. But the stuff is so cute, I buy it all anyway. - Very poor quality and expensive! Wanted to take the time to thank Lauren for helping to lighten my stress on a bittersweet day. Last week my mother in law was in the hospital , deteriorating from her battle with cancer. I asked her what I could do, what she needed from me. She said "marry my son." We have been together for 10 years and she wanted to see a wedding so badly. So in 3 hours, we put together a beautiful ceremony so that we could fulfill her final wish. My friend and I rushed to a store bought a suit, had my make up done. Meanwhile at the house they were putting together a bouquet and beautiful decorations. The only thing I needed was a dress- what's a wedding without a white gown? I called torrid and spoke with Lauren and told her what was going on. We arrived at the store with 30 minutes to spare, and Lauren had pulled all the white dresses on my size and had them waiting for me. I looked at the hangers, picked one, put it on and it was perfect. Lauren then had shoes waiting for me, grabbed the tags off of my dress and started to ring me up so we could get to my wedding on time. I got everything, even a nude bra she pulled for me and a headband. I left the store in my clothes and we made it right on time. It was a beautiful ceremony, and I actually felt beautiful despite having been living out of a suitcase for a week and crying constantly. The next day, our mom passed away. She will be forever missed, but I am so glad she could witness the wedding she had waited so long for. Thank you again so much Lauren and torrid for making it possible! read more

I don't know what people are saying about unhelpful staff...maybe they had a bad day or they're just bad customers, we don't know. But Sophia and Kim are so helpful and nice! I've had nothing but good experiences going to this location, and to the other locations in the Stoneridge Mall and Stonestown Shopping Center. This store makes me feel comfortable, they have such cute clothes. I went into the Concord California store to buy my daughter (who lives in Atlanta) a gift card to buy herself something since I was sending gift cards to her for her children's school clothes. (I do this annually for all of my grandchildren and she's such a good mother, daughter and wife who puts her all into her son with Down Syndrome.... As I was approaching the register, I let "Jenna" know that I wanted to purchase a $150.00 gift card. (Nobody else was in the store so I started speaking as I was approaching the register so she knew I was not shopping.) She immediately said, "I have to call your credit card company to verify the transaction since it's over $100.00! The problem is, I had over $4,000.00 in cash in my purse and was paying with CASH! I never presented a credit card and I had not gone into my purse to pull out any form of payment! I feel that this was racially motivated because I am African American and waning to me not to attempt a gift card scam! I would NEVER patronized that Torrid again! read more

I had a baby 6mos ago & have been kind of sceptical about going into torrid... but I buckeled after having a depressing day of jean shopping (I even took 2 shots at BJ's to boost myself esteem... seeing as I've gone from a size 9 to a size 14) ... when I walked in in was a little nervouse but Morgan came to my rescue... she was super helpful, spunky, optomistic, and sweet... long story short I bout a pair of jeans that were labled a size 0 but in reality was more like a size 15... this place gives me the boost I need with the way the sizes are labeled, and the staff is GREAT read more

This place has gotten alot better...I have been back a few times and the associates they've hired seem pretty cool. I was up to my old schemes again.. buying a size too small thinking I could stuff and nudge my overweight body into it, then coming to the conclusion I like to eat and I will love my body so I went to return the $40 jeans and this black maxi dress that did fit but made me look like a goth drag queen who enjoys walking through bat caves for fun. I would say I have been and avid shopper with Torrid for a decent amount of years now but in the last four years or so, there customer service at this store have gone way down. There employees have become too aggressive with up selling and are rude. The last couple of times I have not felt welcome or comfortable in there store. I don't mind being asked for help but please do not tell me how to shop because are on commission and don't be rude when I want to exchange an item, I always end up spending more anyways. It saddens me I don't even enjoy shopping at one of my favorite stores anymore, I now dread going there. For now I'd rather spend the extra money for shipping online then stepping foot into this Torrid store. read more

I give this place 2 stars as the clothes are nice. But Torrid is scamming the customers and it is NOT RIGHT. Clearance Scam. "BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE" is a lie.. I selected several items, one of which was from the clearance rack. I liked the item, didn't really look at the price. When checking out, Amanda waited on me. She said "oh, since you selected an item on Clearance, you can pick another item and it will be free" She kindly escorted me to the various clearance racks. Assuming a free item is a good deal, I looked through the items. I couldn't find something for me so I got a pair of leggings for my sister in law, who shops exclusively there. When I got home, I looked at my receipt, and saw I was charged for the leggings. It was odd, so I called them and explained the error. They said "No, you get a discounted amount for all the items, and so therefore the item you selected was free". Well, in my opinion, a dollar is a dollar, and when I added up the total it included a PURCHASE of those leggings. AND to top it off, they were final sale. How can anyone consider the term "Free" as a 'discount.' My bad because I didn't look at my receipt until I got home. I did fill out an online survey of my experience. The next day, Amanda left me a voice mail to call her back. I did right away, and was told that she is not in for a few days. So there you go. Lesson learned: When shopping at any store, BEFORE you pay, look at the details. Even after waiting in line forever. Also, when shopping at Torrid, you realize that buy one from clearance, you get a second item free, IS NOT TRUE. IT'S A SCAM, YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THAT SECOND ITEM. Beware. Let me start off by saying I love Torrid clothes, most of my closet consists of things I got from this store! I've always had good experiences while shopping here, with the exception of this last trip in. This review is for Lauren N, sales person 89628. I received a pair of Mickey Mouse slip ons for my birthday (July 26th) for a trip to disneyland in early August. They were super cute and to avoid getting them dirty I only wore them once or twice before the trip the sort of wear them in so I didn't get blisters. While in disneyland I rocked these shoes the first two days only to discover that the soles on both shoes had come un-glued to the bottom of the shoes and the red-waxy material that bonded them was all over my socks making a mess. I was bummed out because they only had a few days of wear time and were already falling apart :( When we got back I told my mother in law what had happened and she still had her receipts from mid-July when she got my presents so we went back to return them. When we got to the store we went to the counter and explained out situation, and Lauren proceeds to tell us that normally they wouldn't take them back, but could do it this one time. She said she is an annual pass holder at Disneyland and wore these shoes all the time and never had an issue and they had fallen apart because of the "way I walked" saying that I dug my heels into the shoes when I walked. She said she would exchange them for another pair and we explained that why would we want another pair if they were just going to fall apart? Especially, as she pointed out, that it was ME who ruined the shoes with my sloppy walking. She huffed and puffed and offered store credit. At this point I didn't want to spend anymore time in the store after being told it was my fault these shoes only lasted a few days. Not very good customer service. Feeling awkward I wanted to just get out as soon as possible. She processed the return and I noticed that when she scanned the shoes they came up as 29.99$ and we ended up with a gift card that only had 24.99 on it, but I was too uncomfortable to deal with anything else during this experience. It's unfortunate that I had this experience because I have spent a lot of money here and even my MIL spent over 500$ for my birthday presents you would think they would be a little more friendly and accommodating. I hope Lauren realizes she made a loyal customer feel awkward and bad for "the way I walk" being why these shoes fell apart. Torrid will not go bankrupt because you refunded 30$ worth of merchandise and she acted like she had to refund us out of her own pocket. The return policy posted at the register counter says that they can't take returns on worn merchandise, unless it had a defect in the product. I think the soles coming out on both shoes within a few days of use is a pretty big defect, regardless of how I walk. I will give my patronage to the Roseville location from now on. read more

The Antioch Torrid is not on here so I will just review this one. This Torrid is the first one I ever shopped at, I love the clothing and (usually) the service. Most of the girls who work at the Antioch Torrid know me and I always get great service there, I do not go to the Concord one as often as I used to but it is a little darker and more crammed than the Antioch Torrid. Now I have asked fellow Fiercely Real girls why they do not shop at Torrid. Why they allow themselves to be subjected to baggy clothes and ugly mumu like dresses. The answer is usually that they find Torrid to be too expensive. Well yes, it is more expensive, but you can get a $20 shirt that is going to fall apart or a $40 shirt at Torrid that will last you forever. The clothes at Torrid are made so well I have had certain shirts for years and they look as great as the day I bought them. Something else to take into account is that it costs more to make clothing (in particular detailed clothing) for real women. So yeah it is pricy but it is not without reason. Service here is always great, if you ask them to start a room for you they do promptly and then write your name on the door so you know which room your selections are in. They sell a wide range of clothing types from dressy to every day t-shirts. During dance season they also sell formal dresses, so if you do not want to spend like tons of money on dress in Macys or Nordstroms you can get a good one here, also they sell more things online. The target age for Torrid is 18-38 I have been going there for so many years I can not remember how long. I love this store, chances are on any day if you ask me where I got my shirt, or where I got my necklace or rings or pants or belt the answer is going to be Torrid...duh! read more

They greet you as soon as you come through the door. * Only a couple negatives: They ARE a bit pricy, but I guess most +size girl clothes are. I feel like they can lower their prices. Also, they have the same jeans all the time. They change all their other clothes and have a variety of things all the time, but they tend to have the same jeans all the time. I didn't get the chance to shop here. So my review is based on the employee that was rude telling me I couldn't come in because they were closed. I'm sorry if you were closed the doors would have been locked. It was 5 minutes to 9 o'clock. So technically your not closed. I knew it was late. I just wanted to browse so if I seen something I liked that I could come back the next day. Thanks god for my BFF calming me down. Especially thanks to the other associate that answered my question and helped me look for something. She was great. I'm sure I'll be back. Just work on your closing attitude.
