Had a great meal at Tori Ton and really enjoyed trying a few different items. The chicken gizzard garlic was a standout for me -- savory, flavorful, and cooked in a way that made it easy to keep going back for another bite. The skin chicken ponzu was also really good, with that nice balance of crisp texture and bright citrusy ponzu flavor. The ginger beer was a perfect match for the meal and helped cut through the richness of the dishes. Overall, this felt like a solid spot for Japanese skewers and small plates, especially if you like bold flavors and something a little different from the usual menu. I'd definitely come back to try more items.

Ky- Yo! You need a break...let's go eat! He was right! I had been helping my parents all week, and it would be a nice diversion. I had never heard of this place. I have probably driven by a dozen times without looking at it. Inside is small and cozy, and from what Ky has said, very authentic Japanese restaurant, the kind you see walking down the streets in Tokyo. It sure did feel like it with workers shouting orders, other customers laughing, and excited about something. Who would've thought you'd get that experience in this cozy little space! The only thing I ordered was the Ginger Hi-Ball. Ky ordered everything else. I have no clue what everything was but it sure was good! Our server was sweet and funny. After having two Hi-Balls, I said that was it...and she pouted...and then I was like, Okay, one more...and she shouted with glee...LOLLLL! Those drinks are really good! Everyone was really friendly, even the cooks, because I peaked around the corner of where I was sitting, and got a smile and nod. This is not a place for mainland tourists. There's no chicken or beef teriyaki, no bentos, it's very traditional. A couple sitting near us ordered two beers and karaage, and then leave. Don't embarrass yourself. Great place to come to! Reservations are seriously recommended.

Wednesday February 4, 2026. I came here to eat late dinner at 9:30pm. Service is always really friendly or welcoming and really fast. I ordered my food and everything came out shortly right after just like magic! The food is always made fresh and tastes very good! Ambiance is casual and very comfortable in here. I will always continue to keep coming back here. I love this place!

A sweet little restaurant! The staff are all very friendly and helpful here. The menu has a wide selection of skewers, à la carte, rice, noodles, drinks, and more. I ordered the tsukane chicken meatball and yummy cucumber. It was really good!

Butterflied chicken wings (first time) and pork jowl. This was our final order that our high server kept delivering to the wrong table.

In general, if you feel like eating in Honolulu, you can't go wrong driving down king street. Tori ton is inconspicuously located in a small strip mall off of (yes) King street. The atmosphere is welcoming Izakaya with many intoxicated customers. We did not have a reservation, but the staff graciously sat us for a late dinner. Food was solid. I always try to be pretend healthy, so the "healthy tofu salad" was a natural choice. Topped with slivered asparagus, it is accented with a sesame dressing. It was very tasty but a tiny bit heavy on the dressing. The skewers were excellent. Chicken thigh with green onion and tsukune (ground chicken) both were good. Tsukune is a house specialty and very generous football shaped portion. Later, we sampled pork jowl and butterflied chicken wing which were both salted and grilled nicely. The soboro don and the okinawan sweet potato sticks were nice appetizers to whet the appetite while sipping on a drink. In addition, I'm always going to sample and share chicken karaage and agedashi tofu (hey I had salad, so what's wrong with some deep fried delicacies?) I went outside my comfort zone and ordered seared mackerel sashimi--interesting but not my favorite. It had a cold fishy texture with a brief sear. Just wasn't my thing. Servers are very enthusiastic and they hustle. One guy might have been high as he kept messing up on the orders. Well, if I had to work that hard, I might follow his lead.

This is by far one of my favorite places to eat! From the moment you walk in the hospitality and vibe is extremely genuine. It feels as if I just walked into someplace plucked right out of Japan. All of the guests are enjoying their food and service. The location isn't a large spot so reservations are greatly encouraged. The size is honestly perfect tho. Last but definitely not least, the flavor of every dish was amazing. I have tried other places that promote similar vibes, but the flavors from Tori Tons dishes really do represent "cooked with love". I'm always excited to come here and bring new faces . 10 stars!

I haven't been to Tori Ton in a LOOOONG time and I'm so glad they had last minute openings. Here's what I ordered ~ Drinks: * Cola High Ball (10/10) ------------ Food: * Grilled Stingray (8/10) * Smoked Radish Cream Cheese (10/10) * Potato Salad (8/10) * Avocado Marinated Dashi (4/10) * Kawa | Chicken Skin (8/10) * Pork & Mochi (8/10) * Tsukune (8/10) * Pork Wrapped Rice Ball (10/10) I would highly recommend you order yourself a Toki Cola Highball and pair it with basically everything that I listed. If you want something adventurous you should try the Smoked Radish Cream Cheese. While you may think it's a weird combo it works SO WELL together. It's a refreshing dish with a nice crunch and slight sweetness. If you want to do something more safe I always recommend getting the Pork Wrapped Rice Ball or Chicken Skin (Kawa). Overall, Would I come back? Yes! Service is great and food was good. Although, it was pretty pricey. The perfect spot to treat yourself after a hard week's of work!

First time visiting here. I was craving liver yakitori. Pretty busy for weekdays dinner time, recommend to make reservations. No happy hour but food is pretty reasonable prices for all menus. Around $2.9 - $3.9 per skewer and $5.5 - $8 for appetizers.

LOVE this place. Classic izakaya menu with a boisterously friendly staff and lively atmosphere to match. If you can, ALWAYS make a reservation. They are super busy every day of the week. Think you can just walk in well after dinner time on a random Monday and get a table? You'd be wrong. Many a sad night spent with my heart set on Tori Ton just to call and be told they're fully booked til closing. But this place is always worth the wait. Sizable paid parking lot (first hour free) and a generous amount of free street parking in the general vicinity, but you still might have to wait and/or drive around the block a few times during peak hours. My favorite menu item by FAR is the potato salad. Creamy, chunky potato goodness with bacon and topped with a hard-boiled egg with runny yolk and chili oil with fried garlic chips? Yes yes yes yes yes. Give me 2 orders to myself, and you get your own. Another crowd favorite is the pork-wrapped rice and Tori Ton signature tsukune skewers with added side of beautiful TKG egg yolk for ooey gooey dipping goodness. Other usual orders include the anchovy fries, gobo karaage, ika karaage, agedashi tofu, oden, "healthy tofu salad", mune ume, and my always-go-to buta bara. The highballs, chu-hais, and sours are on the weaker side, especially when upgrading to their Mega sizes, but tasty. Can't go wrong with the Asahi on tap, but I'd personally steer clear of the yuzu beer. LOVE yuzu, still a hard pass on the yuzu beer. All in all, one of the most legitimate spots for yakitori/izakaya fare in Honolulu.

My whole family felt sick after eating here. We all had diarrhea, stomach pain, and bloating afterward, and it has already lasted for two days. We're now planning to see a doctor. This was really concerning and makes me question the cleanliness and food safety of this place. Very disappointing.

Very hole in the wall place. Make reservations if you want to guarantee a table for dining, especially if you have a medium-large size party. The space is small but there are outdoor seatings. Super authentic, as all staff including chefs and servers are all Japanese. There is a parking lot outside the restaurant but is limited to 1 hour. You can also park on the street (metered parking but cheap). This is an izakaya so small dishes are the mainstay here. The mulberry tea tasted like matcha but more subtle and airy. All the skewered meats were so juicy and delicious. Service was incredible, you really get that Japanese hospitality when you're here. Overall a solid must visit on your trip to Oahu! King St has a lot of amazing authentic Japanese food and Tori Ton is no exception!

Tori ton was an awesome happy hour spot to enjoy with a small group of friends. It's got a great hole in the wall feel that allows walk ins if you're so lucky when they open at 5-5:30pm. Their toki highballs come in a "mega" size, which should tell you enough about how rowdy/loud it can get, but we loved how reminiscent of Japan it felt. Our group of 3 opted for a shared 5 choice omakase, fries, and 5-6 skewers of varying meats. The food came out fast, and as one can imagine, we spent more money than we wanted to because it was so easy to keep eating. Our server was a great facilitator of libation consumption, which is always appreciated in the high energy environment. We will be back for sure

They have shared parking lot with the surrounding establishments which was fairly open since it was so late (I think they were the only one open by that time). We were able to get seated fairly quickly (bar seating style, not individual tables, although they have a few of those as well). This spot is decently small but they seem to fit everyone in fairly efficiently. Upon seating we were given menus and waters after. The waiters are decently attentive since we were seated right by their kitchen/back of house opening. We got: * Chicken Karaage: 10/10, I would heavily recommend this. The chicken was juicy and lightly crispy. What MADE this dish was actually the egg sauce on top. It acts as the aioli but clearly much more homemade and heathier, with egg white pieces and the sauce made of egg yolk etc. We ordered this twice bc it smacked. * Taco Rice: 7/10, okay so... I'm not even going to lie when I say that I was a bit tipsy already when I agreed on ordering this. I THOUGHT this was a TAKO (octopus) rice. NOT a TACO (Mexican) rice. It tasted like I was eating taco bell, which wasn't bad per se but just felt weird being in an izakaya. * Beef Tongue: 9/10. I would recommend this as well. The beef tongue was tender and flavorful. They didn't go overboard with the sauce on top to let the meat shine through. * Seared Aburi: 8/10. The person I was with order it. It was good, no strong feelings about it. It was cool to watch them sear it though. It was on the fishy-er side tho, compared to other forms of sashimi (likely due to the skin still present). * Hot Sake: I would recommend this if you don't enjoy drinking. While its hot/warm, it helps it go down a lot more! Honestly I enjoyed the fried chicken so much I would actually come back just to eat that and maybe try some of their other dishes. Plus the izakaya experience definitely felt really authentic as it was bustling when we visited.

The food itself?…read moreHighlights for sure -- the tacorice in the stone bowl was excellent, the hamachi with eggplant was a standout, and the rafute, while a bit dry, still had its moments. The kitchen is clearly talented. But everything else? A real disappointment. The server was cold and unfriendly the entire visit. The larger tables of four around us were getting great, attentive service -- smiles, check-ins, the works. But when she dropped food at our table? Not even a word. It felt pretty obvious that since the bigger tables had an automatic 20% tip guaranteed, our table just wasn't worth the effort to her. And that's exactly the problem with sneaking an auto-gratuity in fine print at the bottom of the menu -- it creates exactly this kind of situation. If the service had been genuinely good, I would have happily tipped 20% on my own. But to have it quietly tacked on after being largely ignored? That feels sneaky and disrespectful. This place used to be a go-to for me. Today really dropped the ball. Be upfront about the tip policy and treat every table like it matters -- because to the customer, it always does.
