Located on Roosevelt Row, Taco Boy's has a parking lot. It's not big, but I found a spot on a Thursday evening. Ambiance (3.5/5): Taco Boy's is a little chaotic. You order at the counter and then they call your name when your food is ready. It's not a large taco joint, and it's a popular taco joint. Which means you'll see a lot of people cycling in and out, as a lot place to-go orders too. Not the most calm experience, but not an issue for me. You'll also come out smelling like meat lol. They have an open kitchen, and it smells fantastic. The downside is that it sticks to your clothes, too. Service (4/5): Service isn't a big part of the experience, but for what it is, it's pretty smooth. They took my order quickly, I paid relatively quickly, and my food was ready in a reasonable amount of time. Drinks (5/5): I'm a sucker for agua frescas. Taco Boy's delivers. They had four flavors available. I went with the pineapple/mango. It's served in a large cup. Good stuff. Food (5/5): I wasn't terribly hungry so I got a small barbacoa quesadilla. Outside of quesadillas, they have tacos, vampiros, and burritos. Your choice of meat including usual suspects like carne asada, al pastor, chicken, etc. They grill all of their food right in front of you and it's absolutely delicious. Fresh off the grill. Flavorful. Well marinated. Quality meats and ingredients. At the complimentary salsa bar, you can stock up on various sauces, limes, cucumbers, etc. I can't wait to get back to have a heartier meal and try out more of their items. Hands-down, the best Mexican food I've had in Phoenix so far (after a year and a half).

I visited Torchy's Tacos recently and was really disappointed with the customer service. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted at all. I was expected to order at an iPad, but there was no one around to help. I couldn't find the item I was looking for, and even though an employee saw me struggling, they appeared to purposely look busy instead of offering assistance. I eventually walked over to the pickup area just to ask for help, and only then did someone come over to take my order. At the time, there were only about eight customers in the restaurant--a couple and a small group who had already received their food--so it wasn't particularly busy. Once I finally got my food, I'll say this: it was delicious. Unfortunately, the poor customer service really overshadowed the experience. Good food doesn't make up for feeling ignored and unwelcome as a customer. read more

Absolutely amazing experience at Torchy's Tacos! The food, drinks, and service were all top-notch. The General Manager, Nadia, stopped by our table, introduced herself, and went above and beyond when I realized I'd ordered the wrong tortilla (I'm gluten intolerant). She personally made sure I got a new taco with corn tortillas, so kind and accommodating! The food was super fresh and packed with flavor! I got the crunchy avocado taco, hands down the best vegan taco I've had in a while. They really loaded it up with toppings, including plenty of cheese . My chips and salsa came out quick, just the way appetizers should but rarely do. The music was nice, not too loud, and they had three TVs--one with basketball, another with golf, and the third playing Torchy's TV, which had funny bloopers and cool animal stuff.
