Let me start off by saying my boyfriend and i frequent this place and the food is 5 stars awesome every time. Today we had the most terrible dining out experience for my birthday dinner. We were seated outside by a newer server (younger girl with blonde hair) and we sat and waited 10 minutes until she even came back to the table to take a drink order, of course by then we were ready to order everything. Appetizers come out after a while, still no drinks. No napkins, no forks. And the appetizer (which we order every time and always comes out piping hot) was freezing cold. We ate it with no forks or napkins which was fine because we were hungry. Next our main courses come out which were both soup bowls.....served with no spoons. So by this point I'm a little bugged. My boyfriend decided to just get up to go get us napkins. When i went inside to tell our server we were finished and would like the bill....she's just sitting on her phone right in front of the door. While visiting, I had takeout for the bun bo hue and tried their goi cuon and was more than happy. Super filling and the fish dipping sauce my friends eschewed, was loved by me haha. I can't say for restaurant service, but the inside decor is eclectic/fusion and was cute for the holiday season! Amazing food, awesome, fun atmosphere, and interesting touches make this place a must visit in Hackettstown. I ordered the Pho with Lemongrass Chicken Dumplings and I was beyond pleased with my meal. Great flavors, delicious dumplings, and the broth was outstanding. I also had the Summer Rolls with Shrimp to start, the sweet peanut sauce they're served with make them a must try. Every table in the restaurant is equipped with a fresh water tap, so diners can pour their own water whenever they'd like, pair this with an outlet and a buzzer to call your waiter and you've got quite an innovative dining experience. Sister restaurant to pandan lounge, this contemporary venue puts a new twist on oriental food Themed on Vietnamese cooking you can chose from traditional items or elect to cook your meal at the table in the style of "shabu shabu". Been a couple of times and enjoyed both visits. First time the whole family had great fun with the shabu shabu, electing to have both beef and chicken. I have to say this place provides tasty pho! Although it might be tasted bland to someone, it tastes just right to me. It doesn't contain a lot of msg, and the soup color is exactly what I m looking for (some restaurants put a lot of soy sauce and msg to make it strong but that's not AUTHENTIC!). The only cons I can say is the garnishes are not very fresh, and some of the leaves are black already. read more

This is our first time to eat here. I was so excited since I haven't been to any Vietnamese restaurants near by. I ordered "Bun Bo Hue" and it came out totally different. It's not "Bun Bo Hue" at all. The noddles is not the one for "Bun Bo Hue". I'm sure they use Pho to cook "Bun Bo Hue". The taste is weird, so wrong for "Bun Bo Hue". The soup is so bad taste. I talked to the waitress. She said the cook is Indonesian. That is how they cook "Bun Bo Hue". Come on!!! Are you kidding me? If you don't know how to cook Vietnamese foods so please don't claim yourself as a Vietnamese cuisine. Never ever comeback!!! read more

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised! At first when we approached the building it seemed a little sketchy, considering we were directed toward a side entrance, however inside the atmosphere was more comfortable. The food was delicious and there were so many options to choose from. We got lunch specials which came with soup, salad, or an egg roll; all very good. I am always on the hunt for a good Vietnamese restaurant anywhere in New Jersey, but especially someplace close to home. Even more so after Pho-78 closed. I will admit that the restaurant was very clean and decorated nicely. But that is not the reason that I go to a Vietnamese restaurant. I go for the food and especially the Pho. I thought that the portions were small and pricey compared to a traditional place and the Pho, although good, was nothing special. It seemed to lack something and was a little flat. The menu seems to have been designed as a safe alternative for American palettes. It a nut shell, not bad but not for me. I'd rather take the drive to Middlesex County for better. read more

Better than Vietnamese food in Vietnam! (or NYC in my opinion!) While eating leftovers from Topo, I was inspired to write this review. My husband and I tried it out last Saturday and we were already back for another meal on Sunday. Then this past weekend, I brought my parents. All four of us absolutely love Topo! Two years ago, I spent 2 leisurely weeks in Vietnam, doing a lot of eating. Topo outshines anywhere I ate in Vietnam by a landslide. The food is authetic, but gourmet authetic, with quality ingredients. And the bubble milk tea hits the spot. Go here and try something new...something that sounds a little strange to you and you will love it! Mixed reviews for me... based on two trips. The decor, to me... feels a bit 'cold'... but, that's never my primary reason for going to a place anyway! It IS however, sparkling clean... so YAY! Also, at each table... a few really nice touches: an outlet (you'll need it if you order the Hot Pot!), a water dispenser and a call button. The first time was dinner for four of us (the place is BYOB... so, come prepared, if you so desire!). We started off with the TOPO sampler... a variety of spring rolls, dumplings, taro loaf & dipping sauces. This is probably a better sampler for two people than four... but, it gave us a good idea of what to expect, so it all worked out... and all of the morsels on the plate were excellent! 2 in our party order the Hot Pot - Seafood Combo... lots of fresh ingredients, 2 broths, and you cook them at the table, the other 2 ordered the Hanging Grill... oddly, you're not asked for 'doneness' preference on the beef. The Hot Pot was a hit... the Hanging Grill somewhat less so. All very good... but.... everyone in our party was female, and... c'mon... you know women don't eat in public! ;-) We were able to finish absolutely EVERYTHING we ordered (including bubble tea & desserts all around - definitely order both! The creme brulee & the bread pudding are freaking amazing!) without feeling stuffed. Satisfied, absolutely... but, NOT stuffed! So... if you have a bigger appetite you're likely to be less than thrilled, or you may want an appetizer all to yourself instead of sharing! Also to consider... if you're one of those people that needs to feel stuffed when you leave, you'll likely be unhappy with the portions AND the prices! Very pleasant staff... the owner came around often to check on us (REALLY nice guy!)... and, for DINNER, I'd definitely return. Now.... a friend and I also recently went for lunch... and, that was a less happy experience. We each ordered from the lunch menu... both meals came with a choice of a salad, soup or a roll... so, we each got a different roll & then split 'em (btw ,their summer rolls with the peanut hoisin sauce are YUM!)... then the lunch plates came. My friend ordered the crepe, which looked really amazing, lots of fresh veggies... nicely plated... and, so salty it required beverage refills. I ordered the grilled meat (chicken) and rice... same issue, the chicken was two paper-thin filets that were extremely salty, thankfully, the sauce it's served with helps cut SOME of that. And, of course, finished with bubble tea! Everything is plated beautifully, you almost hate to take the first bite (almost!), the service can be a bit slow BUT... ask for recommendations! The staff we've dealt with have steered us toward some interesting selections, are knowledgeable & will answer your questions... so, to me, I'll trade knowledge & personable over fast ANY day of the week! Only reason i didn't give 5 stars is possibly consider adding more than one server during busy times as service sometimes is sacrificed. but all i can say is YUM. addicting and perfect every time. ramen brisket is to die for as are the spring rolls no matter which kind you order. bubble tea is yummy when you're in the mood for it. cannot beat BYOB also. totally love this place and always wanting to try something new on the menu read more

We stumbled upon this place yesterday. Lucky us! We had sweet and sour soup and coconut curry soup to start with, both were great. We also had some type of beef dish and calamari with the wide noodles. Again both were great. They also had my favorite, bubble tea.
