Excellent Chinese food at this spot in Roxbury. They've been at this location forever, which is testament to the quality of the food. Besides a vibrant to-go business, a sit-down dining room is available. Service is friendly, efficient and patient as it takes a while to navigate thru the extensive menu. A bowl of crispy rice noodles with duck sauce for dipping is served with the menu. Kind of a throwback to the old days of in-restaurant Chinese dining. And one of my favorites! Lunch specials are offered.... Bento Box style. I tried General Tso's chicken. The chicken is a right-sized-for-lunch portion, freshly prepared. It's tangy and flavorful, a great rendition of this favorite. The platter is accompanied by pork fried rice, an eggroll and 4 California rolls. A great combo and perfect for lunch. This is the first time I met a dumpling I didn't like. My second try at takeout, and relatively new to the area, I'm still trying to find a nearby Chinese restaurant I like. Hunan Taste in Denville is too much of a drive for takeout. The first time I ordered takeout, I had ribs, Moo Shu Vegetable and Hot and Sour Soup. Eh...but I was really hungry and thought maybe the combination of dishes wasn't a good idea. This time, I decided to keep it simple - fried pork dumplings and Chicken Chow Mein, which I haven't had for many, many years.. The dumplings were totally fried and totally soggy, one bite told me no more. The Chow Mein had a weird taste, not sure what it was seasoned with but since I needed something for dinner, I managed to get through some of it (the mustard, soy sauce, rice and noodles helped) but tossed the rest. For dinner we had Chrispy Orange Beef, which came with broccoli, and Singapore Mai Fun, both requested extra spicy. They were excellent! Fresh & perfect extra spice as requested. Hit or miss. Sushi has been fresh and good. Chinese food has been decent except for the items like Orange Beef or Crispy Duck when in Chinese cooking it comes out crispy without a bread crumb coating. This place batters the proteins that are normally not. Food-wise that was our only issue. Dumplings were fantastic. Service on the other hand is not good. I've been here twice - same waiter & both times there have been service issues. The sushi we received last night time from take out was the worst sushi I've ever had. We got 2 special rolls, each with tempura (shrimp and crab, respectively) and they were over cooked and unrecognizable. The tuna tartare didn't taste like anything and looked like something popped out of a can. Even the spicy mayo tasted weird - like it was well past its expiration date or something. I have been going here for years and even cater from here when I have events because the food was just that good . But lately the food has not been good after they opened up again due to COVID. This time around I was disappointed when I got about $50 dollars worth of sushi and other items from here and notice I had a live fly on my sushi. Yuck!!!! . Honestly the best Chinese food I've had. The orange beef was very delicious and super orange flavored with orange chunks. The lo mein was perfect cooked and flavor. And the pork steamed dumplings were the best flavored dumplings I've ever had, nice and soft flavorful dough and very juice flavorful pork on the inside. The food is a bit pricey but for the quality of the food it was actually worth the price. I for sure recommend here if you're looking for Chinese food to order. read more

Back in the day, they had General Chicken that was out of this world!! Tonights visit was really a 3.5 stars but I rounded up because I felt nostalgic. We were seated and asked for our drink order. 2 waters, please. (The waiter/waitress - we couldn't tell if it was a girl or guy) was on point with the water refill. My glass was never empty. We had delicious wonton soup which was served in a clear bowl which was different. Our Cold Sesame noodles came out WAY too fast which made me think they were going to taste bad; however, they were surprisingly very good with just the right amount of sauce. (The portion could have been a bit bigger though but hey, it was just an appetizer.) Next up, General Chicken and Pineapple Fried Rice. I'm very picky as to where I order GC. Hoping it would be like I how I remembered, I had my fingers crossed. Well, it wasn't the same. It wasn't bad; a bit spicer than before. They didn't serve it with broccoli. The Pineapple Rice was very tasty. I enjoyed the generous portion of pineapple and raisins. Next time, I would try the boneless spare ribs and Orange Chicken with Lo Mein. They lost a star because they did not serve fortune cookies at the end. I mean, c'mon. read more

I have been here now a few times since I last wrote a review. The looks and layout of the restaurant are much improved, but it's not enough. I ordered take out recently and the there were two entrees that were very much lacking. The chicken with cashews had the tiniest amount of small, fried chicken in it. I have never had this dish served up this way, tons of celery with not much chicken. The Shrimp Lo Mein was very greasy without much taste. Our order was also not correct. They gave us the wrong kind of rice (but charged $1 extra for the wrong rice) and the wrong type of BBQ ribs. It was an easy order and should not have been messed up. While the looks of the restaurant have improved over the last couple of years, some things still remain unimpressive. Needless to say, I'll go elsewhere in the future to get my Chinese food fix. read more

We have tried this place before and decided to give it another shot. I ordered a boneless rib combination platter. The ribs were dry and the pork fried rice had basically nothing in it. Very small pieces of pork, etc. The egg roll was about half the size of a regular egg roll. The portion was very small as well. I also got the wonton soup. The wontons were too soft. Needless to say, at 8.95 for the combination plate, I expected more. I don't know what goes through these business owners minds. You would think that they would want customers to return. The food is not good at all, the Thai salad is a regular salad, no Thai flavors at all. The sushi is not tasty, not professionally rolled at all. The sauces are all watered down, clearly they are trying to be cost affective. The shrimp dumplings are not what I expected , it has imitation , shrimp paste , not even real shrimp. The tea, is water basically , they can't even get the tea right. The menu is so huge, yet they don't even have the items. I really wish they can shrink the menu and provide quality tasty food, otherwise I'm never stepping foot into that place read more

As good or even better than any Asian "bistro" in the surrounding area. In business for decades, it was my family's first Chinese food experience growing up! Largely forgotten about it for 30 years until I came back in the last month, and I've visited four times in that period. I couldn't believe what I was missing, and so close to home! Although take-out seems to be a significant part of their business, it's confined to the entryway and out of mind, which is good because inside is a spacious, comfortable and quiet dining room, well-appointed and perfect lighting for casual dining or date night! Just can't go here anymore. Tasteless food, with the simple basics like Chicken and broccoli, although the broccoli was very fresh,,the sauce and chicken blah. And where oh where are they getting the egg rolls from now??? Please owners, go back to the normal size egg roll (really they can not get any smaller) and go back to the yummy ingredients that they use to be....(or maybe change the price,,,charging the same amount is so wrong,,,yeah we used to be loyal to you guys...so we know). Probably the best place in our area to get Chinese food. Their orange chicken and sesame chicken is to die for good. The sushi is also phenomenal. I have never had a problem here either. The owners are so nice and always greet me with a warm smile when I come. Lovely atmosphere too, it's so calming and relaxing. Their lunch box deal is amazing and I highly recommend this place to anyone. read more
