I decided to come back to China Garden and give them another chance after Xianglan L., the owner asked me to delete my previous one star review. The food has improved dramatically since the last time I went there a couple of years ago. I ordered the shrimp with Chinese vegetables, curry chicken with onions, shrimp toast, and hot & sour soup. Everything was terrific and on par with Hunan Wok. They even included two free egg rolls with the order since the total was over $30! I don't care what anyone says this is the best Chinese food in town, I tried many but this one just doesn't compare with the rest, the hours are great, the staff is amazing, when you walk in it's clean and they are quick with your order. They always get my order right and how I like it and if they don't people make mistakes. I get their food once a week or more if I'm able to. If you order a certain amount they give you free goodies? Decided to get chinese for New Year's eve and oh boy was I happy. While visiting from out of state I stumbled across this restaurant. When I called to place my order and my son asked for "nothing in the fried rice but chicken rice and onion" I was cautious ordering it but they didn't fault me. When I picked it up the order the lady behind the counter was very funny about the order and when I told her it was basically for my five year old she laughed with me and we exchanged pleasantries. Asked for no onions in my fried rice, as I have a sensitivity to them, really bad gas pains. How ever there were plenty of onions in my rice. Called them to see if it could be replaced, they said "we no put onions in your rice, you lying you just want more food!" and hung up. Will not be doing business there anymore. Here I was. 6:45pm coming off the train from work in Hackettstown wondering what to eat for dinner (my chef of a wife is away on business, so I eat out or starve). So I stop in and order a couple of fried rice quarts and soup to-go. What a great dinner! Service was quick. I customized my rice dishes and I was in and out in 10 minutes. I was very disappointed in the food. I had to return the chicken and broccoli and the General tso. The General tso was hard and tasted like freezer burn. The chicken wasn't cooked all the way. No, No, No! Never again. Ordered delivery and they told me 45 min. Then at the end of the order she told me an hour so I asked to cancel the order. She told me they would do "speedy delivery" and it would arrive 1/2 hour to 45 min. After an hour I called and she said she would find out where the delivery man was. He ended up coming an hour and 20 min. after the order. So, they lie! Anything to keep the order. When I called to complain they would not pick up they phone, probably saw our number. I have been eating at this restaurant for about a year and the food is usually pretty decent. Today, however, I ordered shrimp with vegetables and there was a staple in the food. I actually bit down on the staple and pulled it out of my mouth. It looked like it was cooked into the food. I am lucky that I didn't swallow it.
