Eh. That about sums up this place. Have been there a few times over the years, but gave it another shot this week in hopes that it has improved. First of all, the cost. Ordering the same two chicken entrees that I order at other area restaurants, it was 17% higher here. Was it more food though? No, slightly less actually. As for the quality, it was fine, but not as good as elsewhere. And I traded the white rice that came with one entree for pork fried rice. Most places charge an upgrade fee of a few dollars. Instead, this place charges the full menu price for the rice, even though they don't also give you the white rice that would have come at no cost with the entree. The restaurant is freezing cold, not that we ate there, but something to consider if you do. Not surprising that there were no other customers there; will not be going back anytime soon. read more

We always order Chinese from here and usually food is good but the service has me not happy in the least. I ordered my family dinner for delivery and I ordered general Tso specifically with white rice for my husband and the man on the phone says "yes it comes with white rice". Food gets delivered and the food is missing...I call them right away and the woman answers and asks the driver if he'll deliver the order...idk what transcribed but she gets back on the phone and says ok $16...I'm what? The menu says $8.75...she says oh only large no small...excuse me? There was a mistake and I'm fine with paying for it but to double charge me is just rude and unprofessional. Our go to Chinese food in Hackettstown! We moved here almost a year ago and found this one near our home. Favorite item: chicken wings! Made so crispy and well. You can't just place 1 order but 2. That's how much we like the chicken wings here. Other menu favs: BBQ spare ribs, beef with broccoli, General Tso. Some Chinese restaurants give skinny small BBQ ribs but they don't disappoint (so far). General Tso is also nice with a crispy layer. Thanks guys for making our bellies happy every time! I tried few Chinese places in Hackettstown. Most of them I couldn't eat and only ate Chinese food when I was closer to NYC. I'm glad I found Bamboo. Very friendly and good food. Some plates are even better than NYC places. Best Chinese in the neighborhood. read more

I am astounded this place is completely not what I expected. I am shellshocmed. I got recommended to here by one of my co workers and the food is complete booty cheeks. You expect me to eat this food when i wouldn't even serve it to my dogs. The food is so bland. They ripped me off when on the menu. You need to step up you're game. I liked this place when the prior owners had it but I think it has gotten better since new owners took over. You can see the kitchen from the counter and it appears neat and clean. When you call to place an order they are very friendly , polite and efficient. The food is usually ready when promised and they deliver too Usually the delivery comes within 30min . This was my second visit. Gave them a second try figuring we all have a bad day sometimes. Bad idea, this was just as bad or worse. $15 for dried out egg roll, burnt dumplings and a bowl of overcooked, mooshy lo mein. Never again. Having tried several highly recommended Chinese restaurants in Hackettstown, this is the absolute best one. Prices are reasonable and the food is much better quality than the other places I have tried. I'm not sure I'd go to eat in as it does lack some atmosphere but since I almost always get takeout when I'm in the mood for Chinese, that doesn't bother me one bit. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the wait times are very reasonable even during prime hours and the one time they accidentally sent me out with the wrong order as soon as I called they were profusely apologetic, refunded my meal as well as making me the correct order. Highly, highly recommend it. Only complaint I can think of is that I haven't been able to find a menu online anywhere which is fine when I'm home and can check my paper copy, but a bit inconvenient if I'm ordering elsewhere. read more
