Four of us stopped by around 6pm on Sunday evening and we were the only ones there for a bit. The menu is fairly large. The inside isn't super huge so I wouldn't bring a group bigger than 6-8 people here. Our service was a bit on the slow side once it got busier but it wasn't a big deal. The food itself is on the spicy side - I got a three out of food and I thought it was spicy even with my high spice tolerance. Sadly I didn't have enough room for dessert.

We were seated immediately during dinner hour and the food came fast. The food was very flavorful and the portions were large. It is a smaller restaurant with cute photos and decor inside. However, the dessert was a bit pricey.

Ordered pickup from Took Took using DoorDash for dinner with our friend. The food is really good. We used to order from them a lot during Covid. The store had our meal ready in about 20 minutes. A friend of us ordered Pad See Ew with spicy level 1, and it turned out to be more spicy than they expected. My hubby and I do love spicy food, but for people who prefer light spicy, it may be too much spice.

I forgot the name of this dish but it was good!

My date and I stopped in here for dinner on a recent week night. We got there kind of later in the evening (around 8 pm) and the place wasn't busy at all. We started with the crispy rolls which come with a chili dipping sauce. For dinner, I ordered the pumpkin curry. I forget what my date ordered, but the presentation (and taste) of his entree was top tier! The food was delicious and comforting and the service was just as great! I noticed a lot of people coming in for takeout orders, so takeout is an option if you don't feel like dining in. Overall, we had a great experience here and will definitely be back!

I was grossly overcharged for Mango Sticky Rice ($16.03) I called to order and was expecting what was on the website: "Mango Sticky Rice (Seasonal) $9.98 Steamed sticky rice with pea flower in coconut milk served with mango" When I went to pick it up I was told I owed $16.03... I confirmed my order & looked at the receipt. One order of Mango Sticky Rice was $14.98... I said the website says $9.98 & was completely ignored. I thought well at least it will be a large order as the picture on the website showed 2 piles of rice and a whole mango. And I was excited to try the pea flower rice. Then I opened the box... It was so small and not what was advertised at all. Go to Kiin Lao around the corner. Sticky rice is better & $7 for the same amount if not more.

One of my fav places for Thai food in Pittsburgh when you're craving that homey, garlicky Thai flavor. I've gotten takeout from them a couple times but also dined in. They have all the familiar Thai classics like pad thai and pad see ew and curries, and they deliver great flavor consistently. The restaurant is pretty clean and service is great! It's a super casual eatery. We randomly decided to get the mango sticky rice for dessert and it was actually so good. I don't normally like mangoes but the coconut milk with the sticky rice was so delicious. The colors were also so beautiful!

Took Took 98 is a cute Thai place in Squirrel Hill. Very nice atmosphere. The servers we had were both pleasant and efficient. (Which let's be honest, sometimes you only get one or the other...) My friend and I got the Shrimp Pad Thai and the Tom Yum Soup. The Pad Thai was very sweet- to the point that it tasted one dimensional. I didn't get the combination of lime, peanut, spicy and sweet that usually make Pad Thai such a compelling dish. I asked for red pepper flakes and later more crushed peanuts, so once I added that and the lime juice it was better, but I was still disappointed. The Tom Yum soup was good. I'd like to go back to hopefully be proven wrong. We shall see.

Fastest service at a restaurant that I've been to in a while. It was slow at the time but that doesn't always mean fast service. The price was good for what we got and I'm looking forward to exploring their menu more.

Took took 98 never disappoints. I have loved this food since it opened and everything has continued to taste amazing. The Gu Chai are crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, delicious. The Pad Prak has the most delectable brown sauce ever. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The inside is clean and cute. 10/10 recommend!

I stopped by here yesterday with my wife for dinner. We found Took Took 98 whenever we were looking at restaurants in the squirrel hill area. After perusing their website we ended up placing a to go order at around 3:00 PM for a 4:45 PM pickup. Whenever we arrived to the restaurant at just after 4:50 PM our food was ready. I was in the restaurant for maybe 30 seconds since there was already somebody at the front counter. From what I saw of the restaurant it had some nice plants in the front window and the inside was filled with white tables and chairs with lots of lighter wood tones. The last thing that I noticed before I left was 4 giant squishmallows sitting at the back of the restaurant which I found humorous. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the Pad Kee Mao, my wife went with the pad Thai and then we also ordered the spaghetti kiaw wan for our twins. The menu described my entree as Flat noodle, Lump egg, Basil leave, Fresh black pepper, Bamboo shoot, Rhizome and Garlic sauce and I chose chicken as my protein while my wife's was described as Rice noodle, Lump egg, Crispy tofu, Peanut, Scallion, Beansprout, Green bean and Tamarind sauce and she chose chicken as her protein. Finally our twins choice was described as Shrimp sauteed with broccoli in light brown gravy on top of wide rice noodles and the website asked us for a protein choice which was confusing. After we opened up our meals at home it was clear that the menu description for the spaghetti kiaw wan was not right. Then some research on the internet confirmed what I suspected when looking at it, that it was a green curry and so I ended up eating that and gave the twins the Pad Kee Mao. Even with that little bit of a fiasco, I have to admit that I enjoyed my meal. The green curry was both spicy and sweet with complex depth of flavor. That made all of the vegetables and the spaghetti enjoyable to eat in it. Then while I didn't have the pad kee Mao for dinner, I was able to taste it. I enjoyed it also as the wide noodle were fun and it had a great taste to it. There was a flavor in it which was pleasant that I don't think that I have had before which may have been the Rhizome. Last but not least my wife enjoyed her pad Thai although it was different than those that she is used to. Specifically she mentioned it having green beans which was surprising. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While the menu snafu wasn't ideal, we did enjoy all of the food we had here.

    Crispy "stuffed" wonton

I hate having to give a local restaurant a subpar review. I can tell the owner(?) cares about the restaurant. However the first red flag was where we were seated was on top of a vent that was blowing out air that smelled like old sewer. The second red flag was that the bathroom had no soap. But my biggest complaint is that the crispy "stuffed" wontons barely had ANY filling in them; maybe a teaspoon if that which was really disappointing as it was the only thing I ordered. And the dipping sauce wasn't really spicy or flavorful, just clear and sweet. The one thing that saved this place in my book was their lychee green tea with rainbow jellies bubble tea. It was very delicious.

Came in for dinner on a weekday and was immediately seated. The food was served very quickly (definitely less than ten minutes) and was so so good. The thai tea (and other drinks) came in 24 oz which was huge! The food was super tasty and the restaurants decor was adorable.

When you're craving for some good southeast Asian food especially their Thai style ginger rice with ginger and chicken (Khao Mun Kai) . This is the closest I can find to my all time favorite Hainanese Chicken rice. Awesome food with fast service! Definitely check out their special bubble tea inspired drinks as well as their desserts! I would recommend Aun Chan Ma Now because it has become my new favorite. Its basically their twist on lemonade drink with Butterfly Pea Flower tea.

Not only do they look great, they taste great. It's always great to find a location that takes pride in their mixed drink selection. The only flag I have is if you order the Honey Bee Martini be prepared to feel like a bee is stinging you every time you take a sip. I enjoy spice, but even this had enough kick to make me savor it periodically. Disclaimer: Taste the flower at your own risk. Remember the saying, "Curiosity killed the cat". - Food: 4 / 5 Appetizer - When you think American cuisine, what do you picture? A hamburger? Hot dogs? An American Flag on the back of a Ford F-150 with a bald eagle in the driver seat? Even though all those can be true, I think of Crab Rangoon. Even as a non-crab person, I do enjoy popping one of these bad boys into my mouth after dipping it in the provided sauce. Nicky's uses a homemade pineapple sauce that adds just a slight tang on this small delight. Entrée - Bread wasn't the greatest creation of mankind. Actually, it was spice because that allowed Thai food to flourish. It has always been of my opinion that if you know how to use spices, then you can make any dish pop. We had the Pad Phet and Basil. Both dishes were absolutely flavorful and made each bite as enjoyable as the last. If you get a box, make sure to get two and a paper bag for reinforcement because if you have sauce left, you are going to want to pour that over your leftovers. Dessert - The sticky rice mango is definitely an interesting dish, but it had something in it that tasted like half and half and ruined any flavor that the mangoes held. The ice cream saved that sweet taste, but the sticky rice that lay below reminded me of a Rice Krispie treat that you found in a corner of your kitchen that was there for months and a friend dared you to take a bite. Disclaimer: You cannot eat the banana leaf...don't ask how we know. - Service: 4.25 / 5 When dining with someone who has a food allergy, you always worry about cross-contamination. Luckily, at Nicky's, even without disclosure, we had no issues at the end of the night. However, as the restaurant gets busy, the service definitely becomes slower, but if you have a great companion you honestly don't notice it. Nicky's also does a great job of not rushing you out the door as soon as the dessert has been finished and it seems each server helps the other servers if it becomes really busy, which isn't a bad system. It's worth noting there are standard charges including a pre-calculated tip, which is fairly common for restaurants of this style. - Vibe: 5 / 5 Nicky's is the exact reason why I started doing food reviews. By that, I mean I wanted to find interesting restaurants where you could sit down with other people, have a great conversation, enjoy some good food and just relax in the unique ambiance. - Overall: 4.25 / 5 My momma always said, "Thai food is a great indicator for a vibe check" and for my own personal add-on, "Great Thai food is how memories are made". If you are ever on the fence about certain people in your life, take them to Nicky's. By the end of the meal, you'll know where they stand. Recommend? Why is this even a question? Of course!

We had a horrible culinary experience the past couple of days driving through West Virginia, Ohio, and western New York. Pittsburgh was our last stop before heading home and Kiin Lao and Thai Eatery made up for all of the culinary disappointment this weekend. Let's talk about the ambiance first. Everything about this restaurant was quite beautiful. When I say beautiful, I don't mean it in an elegant way, but an artsy street vibe way. It is hip, clean, and we'll put together. You can tell a lot of love went into the decorations and into every piece of art on its walls. The service was pretty good. The server herself was attentive when needed and left us alone when needed. The food was AWESOME. We got the papaya combo with the Thum Mak Houng option, curry puffs, grilled pork shoulder with sticky rice, and Pad Gra Prow Street Style. The papaya was "lao-style" made with fermented shrimp paste. If you love deep umami flavors, this is it for you. The papaya salad was pungent and sour and savory spicy and just so satisfying. We asked for a 6/10 spiciness and they came with the heat. The chicken skewers that came with it was flavorful too. A little bit of char on the chicken would've brought it over the top. The curry puffs were so comforting and had that south Asian flavor profile that was very welcomed. The curry and spice blend did not overwhelm the potatoes. Instead it enhanced the earthy potato flavors in the best way possible. The menu said that it came with a cucumber sauce but I don't think we got that. What we got was a more like a honey sauce. The sauce was good in itself but didn't pair well with the puffs. The grilled pork shoulder was delectable. The meat was tender and it was seasoned perfectly. Again, more char on the meat would've brought it to a new level. The only gripe I have with this order was the sticky rice. The amount of sticky rice you get with it was so small I thought it was a joke initially. Nope, it was not! I thought the Pad Gra Prow Street Style was OKAY. I would've made it a little saucier. Despite this, my significant other absolutely LOVED it. Pad Gra Prow was my significant other's favorite dish when she lived overseas. She said that this was the best Pad Gra Prow she has had on this side of the world. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We would definitely come by again when we are back this way.

I'd go for 8 if I ever visit them again. Yeah, it was just a good and decent meal with good service and all. Not very crowded, so I urge people to go if you are in the area.
