We've been meaning to try Bae Bae's for a very long time and I'm bummed that we didn't try it before it's latest reinvention under the Bar and Supper Club banner. I wouldn't really call this a supper club to be honest but the place definitely carries a house music bar vibe and the back bar area and seating is very dimly lit, perfect for cozying up and enjoying a drink late night. The ladies' room was so dark, I mistook it for a storage area because I could only make out a white ladder in the corner that was being used as cute shelving. The place is seat yourself. Our waiter was not super friendly and didn't offer to give us napkins or anything when our wobbly table caused our drinks to splash all over the place. The cook served our chicken with a big smile and happy interaction and we really loved his personality. The bartender also stopped by to bus our table and he was very pleasant as well. We enjoyed the perfectly fried small plate cauliflower with the plum sauce and the fried cheese/garlic wonton bites with the sriracha mayo spicy dipping sauce. The fried chicken breast on the large plate was slightly overcooked with a maple gochuchang sauce that was very bland. We were so thankful that the large plate fried chicken came with a side salad to offer some respite from the heaviness of the fried dishes. It would have been great to have some side acidic or fresh vegetable options like Kimchi or something. Maybe we tried the wrong dishes and there are other not fried things that are delicious? The dirty martini cocktail was just so-so, not really much flavor at all, but the mojito was very good and refreshing. It's probably a good late-night place for a bite and drink. read more

Did you know that Bae Bae's Kitchen reopened and is now Bae Bae's Bar and Supper Club? Their kitchen is open until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays and I'm so excited to have a post midnight food option in Pittsburgh that isn't pizza! We stopped by on Friday earlier in the evening and didn't have to wait for a table. The front area has more natural lighting and the back room is dark and reminds me a club. I will note the back room is really really dark so you might have trouble seeing your food back there. The florals everywhere inside give it a girly touch. Their fried chicken is as crunchy and delicious and everything was flavorful as always. I thought the Ube espresso could have a stronger Ube flavor but I would probably get it again because everything was pretty reasonably priced. read more

Really popular restaurant in downtown, we sat at the bar in the back because the main dining area was filled up. We ordered the bulgogi bbq beef ribeye and the Korean fried chicken. You get two small sides with each entree. For the chicken, you can pick a dipping sauce, just one though, any extra sauce is an additional charge. We got the gochujang aioli. Overall we thought both dishes were just okay, nothing special, the bulgogi being slightly better. I think we made the wrong choice with the aioli sauce which was a bummer, we wish we got the soy garlic sauce or something similar. For brunch, we first tried Bae Bae's Cafe down the street, but they directed us to the Kitchen since there were more food options. I got the dumplings and seaweed salad with a couple sauces and everything was savory, well-seasoned, and tasty! I ended up bringing back the mango passion fruit juice from the Cafe since they had more NA drink options- most of the Kitchen's drinks are boozy. The juice was fantastic! The servers were friendly and quick to advise on the menu. It was very empty and chilly. They had some fun Halloween decor. We visited this cute little Korean place on our last visit to Pittsburgh downtown. My actual rating is 4.5/5 but I really liked the ambiance and the great service there. Bae Bae Bae's cafe was right before the kitchen, and we initially entered there. They both are owned by the same company but their menus are different. Be sure to check which one you want to visit beforehand. Here is the summary of our visit: 1) Ambiance 5/5: It has a cute cafe vibe with chic and delightful decor. Additionally, it also has cute flowery seating outside which would be great for an evening date or friends get together. The place has seating in front of the service desk or you can choose to go inside where they also have a bar and seating area. Also, they have QR codes for their menu 2) Service 6/5: This is where I would like to highlight Taylor Ann G's service. She was of amazing help to us. She helped us with all the suggestions and side options. I am allergic to fish and so was she. So she helped me choose a great spicy dish with great side options which I loved. I also do not eat beef. She let us know that chicken might be made on the same grill and helped us with informing the chef to make it separately in a pan. The service was quick too and we received our order within 10 minutes. One additional thing for people to know is that they add a service fee for takeout orders which was promptly informed to us by Taylor and she said we don't have to tip since that takes care of it. 3) Food 4/5: This is what was a hit and a miss for us. We had to catch a flight and we took a take away so we are giving it the benefit of the doubt but here is the summary of what we ordered: a) Yum Yum chicken: This was what my wife ordered and I tried it at the airport. The chicken was chewy and not good at all. It felt like frozen chicken which was baked in an oven and tossed in a sauce. The purple rice was good though. The portion was good too. b) Spicy Fire chicken: I really loved it. This was like a bento box with chicken. purple rice with sesame seeds, tender green salad, and some radish side (which was amazing, and took it based on Taylor's suggestion). The portion was good for one. The dish was not really spicy and tasted more like buffalo sauce chicken. 4) Value for money 4/5: It was not the cheapest place and it would have been value for money if we ate it there since the place looks great. The price is good for the portion but it would be great if it was a tad less. Overall, I am definitely going to visit this place when I am in town for the ambiance, service, and proximity to downtown and so much of Pittsburgh's history. I'm surprised I've never written a review yet for Bae Bae's because it's one of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh. Casual and cute Korean eatery serving the best Korean Fried Chicken in Pittsburgh (really!!). I always bring friends and family from out of town whenever we need a downtown spot for a quick bite. My usual orders (highly recommend) is the build your own Korean Fried Chicken with the kimchi and seaweed salad (unfortunately, they were out of kimchi tonight), sweet potato fries with spicy mayo, Japchae, and of course a Thai ice tea. Service is always wonderful, although it seems like they're moving more towards an online dining experience with no server and just ordering through a QR code. I prefer being able to converse with servers instead, but tonight's service with our hostess and cooks was no different than in the past. Highly recommend checking out their drink specials and coming in to try soju cocktails which not many bars have! Love the plant decorations and it makes the space feel so lonely. Admittedly I have had this place on my bucket list for quite a while, but with their hours only in the evening on the weekdays I hadn't had the opportunity to visit. Luckily, we were out this last weekend visiting some popup Christmas bars, and we got hungry. I immediately suggested we try bae baes. Everyone in our group does not eat meat, and are adventurous eaters, so it seemed like a perfect opportunity. We arrived were told where to sit and given waters. You order through QR codes. I typically really like doing this, but both of our parties were having some issues with the ordering. I picked my food handed the phone over to have my husband to add his and complete it and went to the bathroom. When I got out, I was certain he would be done, and we would be waiting. He wasn't. Each time he'd hit complete order we kept getting an error code to try again and having to go back and add all the items over. I would have thought that it was just us, but my brother and his GF were also having the issue, except his finally went through but it appeared to be duplicated. He went to the kitchen to make sure they only received one order, and he was good to go. We were still trying to complete ours. When finally, ours went through their food was delivered which sucked since now we were watching them eat. We waited not too long for our food, but by then, the other half of our party was done eating. This was the worst part of the experience. The best part was the food. We ordered Yum Yum Cauliflower with Maple Gochujang to share and I ordered the spicy sesame tofu stir fry, with tender green salad and daikon radish slaw, and rice. Phenomenal! Food was excellent. The entire party agreed the food was very good. The cauliflower dish was so perfectly crisp, and the sauce was tangy sweet and spicy, wonderful combination. You would not think you were eating vegetables. My main dish was so just as good if not better. The seasonings and balanced flavors were about perfect. The sides were not afterthoughts and the rice was outstanding. The interior of the restaurant was adequate. It seemed clean, which is the most important thing. It was kind of cold with the door very close to the seating areas. Also, they automatically add 18% gratuity to each check. I am ok with this in a way, but also not in another way. If you want an additional 18% then increase your prices, pay your employees more and accept no tips. The auto tip is ridiculous considering a tip is supposed to be based on your service experience. Our service was fine, so no issue with giving the tip, but we didn't give it, it was forced.. The food easily gets 5 stars! The atmosphere, issues with the ordering system, and automatic tip, 3 stars. read more

Came here on a Friday night. You have to scan a QR code to get the menu and order online. I got a taro milk tea with rainbow bubbles ($7). It had the right amount of sweetness! For the meal I had the Korean Fried Chicken ($18), Spicy Fire Chicken($18), Beef Bulgogi ($18) and Bae Bae Wings($15). The Korean Fried chicken was crispy and moist. The honey sauce was very sweet but mixed well with it. The Bae Bae wings with garlic soy was also crispy moist and flavorful. However the beef bulgogi and spicy chicken were disappointing. Both were quite oily and the flavor was a bit of a letdown. The kimchi were spicy and sour which I absolutely loved. Service was about average. They have a pre included 18% tip added to the bill. Overall some of the food was great (any of the fried chicken), the others not as amazing. This is where I'd recommend people if they are looking for casual Korean based Asian fusion food. Location is downtown and the restaurant is a lot bigger than it looks on the outside. The dine in experience is nice and cute, but easy take out since they already come in takeout boxes. The service is here is super friendly as well. I really enjoy their food because it is good cooking, a variety of dishes, and the portions are huge. It's pretty cheap considering how much food they give you. Big fan of their bulgogi since it's expensive at most places now. Their glass noodles is also a good pick. I like their milk tea but I vaguely remember thinking the boba wasn't chewy enough, not sure if they've changed it since then or if that was just a bad batch. read more

Lovely food, but they were out of a ton of things when we were there. It was a casual and cute place and Korean is one of my favorite things. We got two different types of their fried tofu plates, but the value is really in the sides and not getting the plates. I wish they had more banchan to try, but sadly were out of so much. I wanted to get a Thai tea with boba and they had run out of both by the time we had gotten there at 7pm. It was wild that they were out of so much. The prices were a little high for what you got, but I guess that is what happens when you have a bustling location downtown. I didn't love having to order through a QR code for everything and being told to request via QR code rather than in person. All sauces were an extra $1 and that was way too much for a little cup of chili oil. They were rushing us out at the end to get more people in and I didn't love that feeling at the end. Came here this past weekend while visiting our daughter in college. We lucked out with on-street parking nearby and were seated quickly. Cute decor inside and all the staff / servers were very pleasant and helpful. My wife ordered a lychee martini, which she adored...daughter had a milk (bubble) tea that was creamy and full of tapioca balls. We did our typical routine and ordered a bunch of items to share: garlic cheese wontons, sweet potato fries, dumplings and Korean fried chicken wings (KFC). Food service was on the slower side, but we were in no rush and it all worked out just fine. The garlic cheese wontons came out first, so we treated this dish as our appetizer course. They came served with a spicy mayo for dipping and the combo with pungent and had a kick at the same time. Then the other three dishes arrived. I am not really a sweet potato fry kind of guy (normally too sweet for me, I am more savory) but these panko breaded hand-cut fries served with the same spicy mayo from above worked just right! We chose a pork-filled dumpling and they came with a garlic soy sauce that amped up the flavor. Lastly, the KFC...large wings coated in a sweet sticky garlic soy sauce that just killed it. I came here with a friend for the first time on a Thursday night. The place was pretty crowded, but we got seated right away in the back by the bar. My friend has been here many times over the years and said the back bar area is pretty new. We ordered an appetizer of chicken dumplings and they were really good. We also each ordered a cocktail. The cocktails were okay. I got the Bramble On and it tasted kind of watered down and flavorless. My friend ordered the Toki Plum Sour and said it was just okay. For our meals, I got the spicy fire chicken with glass noodles and a seaweed salad. My friend got the Korean fried chicken with glass noodles, Napa cabbage kimchi and diakon raddish kimchi. Both of the proteins were so good! Cooked perfectly and came out hot. The seaweed salad was okay as well as the Napa cabbage kimchi. The daikon reddish kimchi was delicious though! I took my daughter to lunch for her 30th birthday and decided to stop at Bae Bae's. I had take out from here in 2020 but wanted to see what all they had. Parking is what it is. Downtown Pittsburgh. Fortunately we found a spot right across the street. The place was packed for lunch but we were quickly seated. Everyone was noticeably attentive and pleasant which is nice. We ordered Bubble teas to start which came out quickly. I got the coffee and she got the Taro (which tasted like cereal milk after the cereal is gone! Loved it!). We started with, of course, Korean Fried Chicken with the Sweet Soy Sauce AND the Bulgogi wontons. The first crunch from the chicken with the lightly coated sweet soy sauce had me at Hello. OMG!! Absolutely my favorite thing here. The wontons were also amazing because they weren't oily or greasy at all. I'd love to know how you fry wontons to the perfect crispness without the greasy finish. The Bulgogi filling was perfect. The dipping sauce had a strong Hoisin taste but it was still good. I just dipped the wontons in the Sweet Soy Sauce from the wings lol. She had the Bulgogi with noodles and I got the Teriyaki Chicken with rice. Her Bulgogi was just perfect and probably the best I've had. The onions, sauce and tenderness of the beef just worked. My Teriyaki Chicken was thigh meat marinated perfect and grilled on skewers. A different approach but it also worked well. I will likely get the Bulgogi next time. I just prefer the flavors. The clear indicator for how well you enjoyed the food is if there's any left. Gone. Zilch. Both of us. The portions were just right and we left content, not in pain from over eating accompanied by the 'itis. Everything came to just under $100 with tip. I really really like this place and will stop again when in Pittsburgh. The people there are the best AND there's a cool little bar in back with more seating and Happy Hour starting at 3! One of the best meals I've had in a minute. I was in Pittsburgh for a show at the Benedum and found Bae Bae's Kitchen on a vegan site. It was a few blocks from the theatre so I decided to try it out. So glad I did! Last Saturday night, with shows at many of the theaters in the Cultural District, this cozy restaurant was packed at 6:30 pm. Several folks were standing against the wall waiting for their tables as there's not a lot of space to be had inside and an artic blast outside. Being a solo diner, I was seated right away at the bar in the back. Staff were very busy but friendly. I was given a QR code and started reviewing the drink menu which is more extensive than what's online. I love pandan so went with the namesake cocktail - the pandan highball. It was delicious! I only wished I'd had a boba straw to get all the pandan jelly from the bottom of the glass. The couple next to me had taro milk tea with boba which looked like a fantastic non-alcoholic option. For my meal, I selected the tofu stir fry which came with white rice and my choice of two sides. I love pickled daikon, so immediately chose that, and the spring mix salad. The daikon was the highlight of a great meal. Probably the best I've ever had (and I always order pickled daikon when it's on a menu). The tofu stir fry had a tasty sauce but was mainly green peppers and onion with my protein. Wish it had other veggies to balance. Still, the tofu was fried perfectly and the texture was spot on. Do yourself a favor - book a table (I'm pretty sure I saw a reservation book on the host stand) and have a meal at Bae Bae's especially if you're seeing a show downtown. read more

This is one my favorite and most frequently visited restaurants in Pittsburgh. The Korean fried chicken is my go to order, but the I've also tried the bulgogi beef which was excellent as well. I've also tried some of the drinks which were of the same high standard as the food. I especially enjoy the the Thai tea to go with my meal. I usually order to go and I use their online ordering process which is seamless and the food is usually ready to pick up within 10-15 minutes. The interior has a great feel to it, and you can tell that this place is run by good people who care about food. This was an excellent place to host our event during a conference. The owner took care of everything. We had the whole place rented out for a party of 40. The owner put together an event menu that included a variety of entree selections and the tables all had delicious apps served family style. No Thai tea, no viet ice coffee, No more glass noodles, and most disappointingly, NO KIMCHI?!how do you claim to be a Korean food spot with no kimchi? Grabbed takeout for lunch when I was in the office this week. This spot is so cool with so many food and drink options. I opted for the bulgogi beef and cucumber kimchi side. This comes with rice (in a heart shape!!) and dressed greens. The beef was delicious! I just wish there was a little more for the cost. The cucumber side was good but SO spicy - just fyi! I am a huge fan of Korean food.. but oddly enough, I never get it for take-out. I typically make it myself. However, on a recent Sunday... I was craving take-out and decided I had to try Bae Bae's. I've heard SO much about it and knew I just had to try it out. I went with the Korean Fried Chicken Dinner and got extra sauce (maple gochujang and the sweet soy garlic) as well as both kimchis they had- traditional and the daikon. I also tried their strawberry lemonade with rainbow boba. Overall, I really loved this place. Online ordering was easy, the food was ready quickly and pick-up was a breeze. It was adorable inside as well and I wish I could have dined in- but I'll save that for another day. The food was delicious. Super crispy and tender chicken and the sauces were great. I will say, they were not spicy at all- I thought the maple gochujang would be a bit spicier, but it was super mild. I ended up adding some chili oil at home to spice it up a bit more. The daikon radish kimchi was fantastic, and their traditional kimchi was also very good. I can't wait to visit again and try their glass noodles, dumplings and wings.
