    Spicy miso ramen
    Rugger W.

Even better the second time! Spicy miso for me, tonkotsu for my son, and veggie spring rolls. A notable difference was the noodle texture - which I realize is incredibly dependent on individual preference. My first trip, there was a subtle chew to them which some (perhaps many) like. Tonight, the noodles were just a bit more done and to my liking. This is by no means a criticism as both meals were fantastic - only personal taste. The same friendly warm service throughout the dinner. A photographer stopped by a snapped a few pics. He stated that he's returning in the middle of the week to get the entire owner staff in the same shot. Look for a write-up presumably the first week of April (not sure of the outlet or platform).

Thrilled to have tried one of Brookline's newest restaurants this week; Asahi is a five-minute walk from our house! The food was flavorful, plentiful, very fresh, and prepared with great care. The service was attentive and friendly. The decor was colorful and lively, with a particular focus on whimsical cats! But the most noticeable parts of our experience were the positivity and teamwork of the entire staff. Everybody -- from the head chef to the busboy -- seemed to be having a great time and enjoying each other's company while providing great service. The staff's positive mood carried over to the customers, too. One of the staff told us that the Japanese word "Asahi" means "morning sun" -- very fitting! So happy to have another dining option on Brookline Boulevard -- but even happier that it's Japanese food!

Each topping is $1.50 so I didn't want to go overboard but I do wish they gave more of some of the ingredients. The veggie gyoza was my favorite part of The meal I'm not sure what sauce they give with that but it was so good. The waiter was extremely kind and patient with me figuring out what to order. About 30min in the waiter comes to ask if we want take-out boxes, while we were talking, i guess we hadn't taken in a bite in awhile and he was checking? It felt like he was trying to get us out, possibly to turn the table, except there weren't that many people. It wasn't like it was packed and they needed it. Ruined the vibe of the date a bit, still the food was good, so overall i would recommend, but if you're gonna be chatting for a bit, it might be an issue? Or a misunderstanding. Either way would go back.

Our server was attentive throughout the meal and provided genuinely outstanding service. The restaurant was very clean, with a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. Our food arrived incredibly quickly, within about five minutes, and everything was delicious. We ordered the spicy California roll, cold sesame noodle salad, crab rangoon, and tofu yaki udon. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The sushi was especially delicious, and in my humble opinion, better than any other sushi restaurant on the north side of Pittsburgh. We'll absolutely be back!!

This restaurant is located right on McKnight Road somewhat near the intersection with Siebert. The inside is fairly large with seating in an L-shaped configuration around the kitchen. We were seated near the back on one side where the lighting was styled like lanterns and there was also a fun mural on the wall in an almost manga style. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the Golden Katsu Curry Ramen while my wife went with the tonkotsu ramen and my kids split a happy cat noodles. My ramen was described as served with house-made curry broth simmered with tender potato and carrot chunks, wavy noodles and topped with a crispy cutlet, half marinated egg, sweet corn and scallions. My wife's was described as pork broth with thin noodles, pork belly chashu, nori, bamboo shoots, fish cake, kikurage mushroom, half marinated egg, sweet corn and scallions. My kids' meal was described as chicken nuggets, soy sauce-based plain noodles, assorted vegetables, half marinated egg and one piece of mochi ice cream. They first brought out the wrong item for my kids but once we mentioned it they quickly corrected it and brought out the right dish. My curry ended up being really good. The chicken cutlet was crispy, the noodles were bouncy and I enjoyed the sweetness from the corn. The star of the show for me though was the Japanese curry which had a rich flavor with warm and inviting spices. My wife loved her ramen as well and we were all impressed with the quality of the kids' meal, especially the chicken and the flavor of the noodles. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Everyone in my family enjoyed their food and we appreciated that it felt both fun and family friendly.

That translated into a very restrictive perimeter around my hotel from which I chose this fusion spot for dinner. The menu was quite a hodgepodge of familiar Asian plates. I have to admit though when I saw ramen and stir-fries on the same menu, I was wondering how well they do it all. I tried two items starting with the $13 Chicken Lettuce Wraps. The chicken was stir-fried with carrot, mushroom, and scallion in an excess of brown sauce. They provided enough iceberg lettuce to handle it, but the sauciness really let me down (Photo 9). The second dish, the Sichuan String Beans with Shrimp, was better but still overshadowed by whatever sauté seasoning they used quite liberally (Photo 10). Fortunately the side of white rice helped offset the uneven flavor (Photo 8). It was all middling at best.
