    Miso ramen
    Tiffany H.

Yakitori was definitely the highlight! We got the scallops, pork belly, shishito peppers, and shiitake mushroom skewers. I'd come back just for more yakitori and to try some of the appetizers next time. They have a yakitori set, which includes one of every skewer. The ramen was pretty standard, no complaints. I had the miso ramen, which was good and not overly salty. The flared ramen bowl made it feel like you were almost finished, but there was still a generous amount of noodles. The ramen egg was perfect - soft but not too runny - and the pork slices were thin, flavorful, and not too fatty. You get at least four slices, so I felt there was a nice balance between noodles and toppings. I loved the ambiance. The decor made it feel like a cozy local spot in Japan. Service was a little on the slow side. It took some time to flag down our waitress to order and again to get the check, but the food came out quickly once we ordered. Despite the slower service, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming.

Still so good. Service is always so kind and informative and very patient with my dad who had a million questions. Best vegetarian ramen in town. Small place, advise to call ahead for seating.

    Restaurant week!
    Kelly B.

We stopped in for restaurant week. It was very busy and hectic. Not really my vibe. We joined the online waitlist and got a text when our table was supposed to be ready. We were told the next tables were being cleaned for us and then a different lady skipped over us a couple of times and sat other people. I got the pork and chive gyoza and it was delicious. The filling was flavorful and the outside was nice and crispy. I got the Naruto Ramen and it was pretty good. I ordered bean sprouts with it and didn't get them. The noodles were cooked nicely and not overdone. I got a very small dessert of Taro flavored mochi ice cream. It was good, but extremely tiny. There were 2 servings on the photo, they put my husbands with mine. Overall, it was good. I don't know if I would go back unless they fix the wait system.

    Hot Toddy

Even if you're not in the mood for ramen, Fujiya is a great spot! We decided to pop in on a cold snowy day, and it was definitely the right choice. We sat at the bar and got our drinks right away. We split the hot toddy, and it was full of flavor and was the perfect way to warm up after being outside. While we did feel it was a bit pricy, it was delicious nonetheless. We split several menu items, including yakitori, okonomiyaki, and pork buns. The crispy chicken yakitori was to die for, and I'm still thinking about the light, crispiness days later. The pork belly yakitori was cooked to perfection, and the chicken yakitori was tender, but the latter would have been better with a sauce or some additional seasoning. The okonomiyaki was such a delightful blend of texture and flavor, while not being overpowering. I am not usually a cabbage fan, but this blew me away! The pork buns were a solid finish. The pork was tender and juicy, and the sauce combo was a perfect blend of savory, sweet, and light spice. Service was a bit on the slow side, but the restaurant was busy and the staff were all incredibly friendly, so we didn't mind the wait at all. Highly recommend!

Found this ramen place through Yelp. It's a small spot but definitely worth the try. Good for date night but it's a little cramped, but it's nice! The chicken karage was great! I liked the spicy mayo sauce for it. The old fashion was ok not like a speakeasy taste but good for a ramen spot, same goes for the espresso martini. The chicken ramen was really good! I loved their broth! I've come here a few times and I always get the same thing, so not sure on the other things. Will definitely be back again for some ramen.

Pork Tonkaysu Ramen w/ an extra egg

1/8/25 Ate List: Tonkatsu Ramen - Score 10 I have been going to this place since about 2017/2018. It's my favorite ramen spot in the city. I've kept it secret from most but now that it seems the secret is out by the number of videos I've seen on Instagram - Yes, the hype is real. The ramen here is incredible. When the season is right or I'm feeling a bit under the weather, I will get the Pork Tonkatsu ramen with an extra runny egg and I feel REVIVED. I feel instantly better every time I have it. I have CRAVED this dish and I will again soon I'm sure. Fujiya Ramen is the best.

Went back this past week after about a year since my last visit. Everything was perfect. My waitress was so lovely this time!! Super kind and knowledgeable. Food was SO delicious. Had my classic go-to Spicy Miso Ramen. Loved the Lychee martini- it was perfection. Also really enjoyed the Takoyaki- might be some of the best in the city. Overall, so glad I had a wonderful experience and will continue to give them business

Normal ramen but damn the skewers are where its at geez theyre freaking delicious. Get the pork belly (has a bit of fat).

The best ramen in Pittsburgh! I've only gotten the spicy miso ramen but it's so amazing, it blows my mind every time. The appetizers are delicious as well! The pork buns melt in your mouth. The pork and chive gyoza are great! Their drink menu is solid; lychee martini is perfect, and the seasonal specials have been great! The servers are always so kind and inviting. The space is small but cozy. It makes for a great date night!

Fujiya Ramen in Shadyside delivers legit flavor. I had the tonkatsu ramen and a mix of yakitori--chicken skin, eel, pork, and chicken--and everything was on point. The ramen was rich and creamy, super comforting, and the yakitori had great char and seasoning. Chill atmosphere, fast service, and definitely a go-to if you're craving something authentic.

We stopped by on a whim yesterday on Monday around 7pm and there wasn't a wait for a table for two. The inside isn't big but it's super cute. Our food came out pretty quickly and it was delicious as always. I'm so grateful to have this spot in my little neighborhood!

    Miso Ramen

Ramen as good as everyone says, but also want to point out there are good options-- the traditional tonkatsu and miso but others as well. And don't sleep on the karaage appetizer. Friendly service and comfortable surroundings.

The tonkotsu ramen was amazing. And the waiter brought us a little chili oil for the table to spice up our dishes to our liking! The cocktails were also very good.

The takoyaki has a crunchy outside and a good flavor (4/5), and the okonomiyaki is pretty filling (4/5); these were the best two. The yaki-udon with shrimp was ok (3/5) but definitely expensive for what it was and the quantity; they also don't add much shrimp, despite the up charge. The sake no shioyaki was below average for salmon (2/5) and very expensive for that amount they give you. Similarly, the onigiri is almost entirely rice if you add salmon (2/5). I've made it a point to try and go at least once a year. They import their fish from Japan, so everything is exceptional quality (unlike any other I've ever had) and the taste experiences are incredible. The toro, both salmon and traditional tuna, are both to die for. The lighting and general vibe of the place are honestly just as appealing as the food, as it's the sort of place that makes you feel like you're partaking in an experience rather than just a meal. As said before, the quality is top notch, but you will shell out a good bit of money if you want to satisfy your appetite. The first time I went here, I spent approximately $140 on myself. The second time was in a group outing, paying for another person in the group, and we got a little loose with our ordering of food and drink. I think, with tip, it ended up being close to $450-$475. I nearly died when I saw that bill. Do I think it was worth it? Yes. Can I make it a regular thing? As someone who sometimes lives paycheck to paycheck, absolutely not. Hahaha. If you're planning on going, I would generally recommend reservations and booking about a month in advance. TLDR; The people who work there are knowledgable, the food is high quality and worth the price, but view this as a treat kind of place rather than a regular spot... that bill will hit you hard.

The staff were attentive and welcoming, and everything came out quickly and looked like it was prepared with real care. Now, coming from someone who doesn't even like sushi, I'm probably the worst critic for the food itself but Nina couldn't stop talking about it. She said it was easily the best sushi she's had in Pittsburgh, and that says a lot. Every roll she tried, she loved, and she was already talking about coming back before we even left. We have been to every major sushi spot in the county and this is the one place I took her in the past 6 years of her moving to Pittsburgh that she said says the best. So if you're like me, maybe sushi isn't your thing the beef portion was small but okay could've been more beef and less fluff so, you might not be converted. But if you're taking someone who does love authentic sushi fresh from japan, this place is a home run. For making her 30th feel special and giving her a meal she genuinely enjoyed, this spot absolutely nailed it. Best sushi in Pittsburgh from a someone who has had the best sushi japan has to offer.
