Got takeout from here and thought the food was just OK. I ordered a katsu curry and a gyudon. The katsu curry was pretty good, but the gyudon was not. This week we did lunch at Oishii Donburi. I got the Bulgolgi Bimbimbab. The egg was perfectly gooey inside the beef was super tender and the veggies were packed high. Great dinner experience at Oishii Donburi! I have gone to their location in Oakland many times and was excited to try out this lawrenceville location. Menu is similar to the Oakland location but this location has curry! This location's interior is also a more fancy than the Oakland location. We did not have a problem finding street parking outside the restaurant. There is limited seating with a few tables and counter seating. When we came it was not too busy and we easily found a table. I always enjoy their free hot barley tea which is perfect for this chilly weather. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food came out hot and fresh. A hidden gem on Butler street in upper Lawrenceville! Shortly after arriving at 6pm, there was a line to the door with customers waiting for online orders and ordering takeout at the counter. It's a small restaurant with limited tables and bar seating. They offer free hot barley tea. The food is tasty and service is very fast. We ordered at the counter, sat down at the bar, and they brought our food to us. The food automatically comes in a to-go dish, which is nice because the portions are large enough for about 2 leftover meals. The beef bulgogi bibimbap was excellent, and the kyoza dumplings were fried just right. I will be coming back to try other menu items soon. read more

They serve many delicious dishes, but I decided to order something relatively simple and small: tacoyaki. Wow, it was very tasty! I don't think I've ever had proper tacoyaki, and now I'm hooked. They are octopus balls with a bready covering, sauce, and seaweed on top. The packaging was also quite lovely. I have no complaints about the flavor. They used the perfect amount of sauce (a type of Mayo and eel sauce I think) and it was delicious. Perfect texture. A tad on the soft side. I will say that you don't get that much octopus with each ball (just a bit in the middle), but it's still delicious. The portion is solid, too. All in all, this place serves excellent Japanese food. My wife and I stopped by here a couple of Saturday's ago for dinner. I had actually noticed Oishi on Yelp as another Yelper had given them a favorable review. Whenever I looked up their website I was excited to see that they had curry as I hadn't had a good Japanese curry in a long time. So our next free Saturday my wife and I found their menu of the website and called in a takeout order. The restaurant is located right on Butler Street in Upper Lawrenceville and had street parking available right in front of it whenever we arrived. Our food was ready at the quoted time and the pickup was simple and we headed home to eat it. For dinner on this evening I ordered a mixed katsudon curry and my wife also ordered the mix katsudon curry. I loved that I was able to get tofu, shrimp and chicken all in the same meal and the breading on all of them was nice and light. That gave them all a nice crunch while allowing the protein to still shine through. However it was the curry that was the star of the dish to me. I haven't had a good Japanese curry sauce since the last time I had visited Honolulu and so I was excited that I was able to find one in Pittsburgh. Finally the accompanying daikon provided a little bit of sourness to the dish which made it interesting. My wife also enjoyed her meal here. The bottom line for me is that I will definitely head back here again in the future. I loved everything about my dish, especially that curry, and look forward to be able to eat it again. read more

So this is a strictly delivery review, I have not been there for dine-in. They do not even skimp you on the amount of beef you get, it's a really satisfying serving. The veggies in the Chicken Katsu Bibimbap are so fresh and tasty and never greasy. Chicken is always fresh, tasty and not greasy. It is literally everything you want in a Bibimbab. Such a great combo of flavors and textures! We recently tried the Ebi Tempura, which we were holding off on trying just because it's a little pricy for shrimp. Boy was it worth it! Super fresh shrimp, crisped to perfection and not greasy at all. My bank account hates me, but my taste buds don't care and love me. I am a huge fan of this place for my go to Asian cuisine delivery food. Always quick, hot and delicious. Definitely can confidently recommend this place! Overall pretty good, it's the same owners as oishii bento in Oakland so the Bowls taste pretty similar. Still yummy and will hit the spot if you're craving some udon. It's a pretty large portion size and I would come back for more just cause there's not many places that serve decent udon here. This HAS TO BE FRESH eel, I don't know for 100% sure, but there was zero fishy flavor which is honestly pretty rare when eating eel from other spots, and it's a TUESDAY....not exactly the freshest of days. Eel is not cheap, but they serve an aggressively large portion, which always melts my cheap Greek heart. All the components worked perfectly. I'm seriously obsessed. It's a small restaurant inside with a bar surrounding the cooking area where you can sit and watch your food being made. The main guy behind the counter was engaging and kind. It was not overly busy, there were only a couple of other people eating there during our visit. You order at the counter before sitting down so it is a fast, casual environment, but it feels elevated. All of our food was insanely good. We had takoyaki, tempura veggies, miso soup, and seaweed salad. After that, we were stuffed but took a bulgogi bowl home with us because the food was that good. I can't wait to go back to try their sashimi bowls. This place has the heart and soul that I'm always looking for. It's reasonably priced and not super hip and trendy, but feels refined and cozy.
