Rooftop sushi bar?? Say less. Had such an amazing dinner with friends at Sushi I! Reservations are highly recommended but very easy to make. Our server, Tina, was the best server I've ever had. She went above and beyond in recommendations, checking in on us, and was SO knowledgeable on the entire menu. Ask for Tina next time you're there!! The food itself was delicious. Growing up, I had an uncle who owned a sushi restaurant, so my expectations were a bit high. The bluefin torch roll and black pearl rolls might be the best rolls I've ever had in my life. The quality of fish is amazing and the flavors in both rolls were incredible. I need 5 right now lol. Plus if you order 5+ rolls your sushi comes out on some sort of bridge or boat! How fun! Prices were super reasonable and their lunch specials seem great, looking forward to trying those in the future! Loved my lycheetini and thought it was really well crafted.

We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and got a table for three immediately. The inside is huge and there's three spacious floors. We were seated on the second floor. I believe there's an open rooftop on the third floor. The second floor felt upscale and classy without being pretentious. Our server was super nice and patient. We got different things. My friend got the maki combo and it came with miso soup and was a great deal. I got the Pittsburgh roll and my friend got the tiger roll and both were so good!! Everything tasted super fresh! We also got cocktails and I loved my lychee martini.

I really loved the ambiance of this place! It was super cute, and the sushi was good. Loved the Lychee Martini!!! Delicious. The service was a little slow, they just opened so we assumed they were still working out everything. Would definitely recommend!

Food was really good and the atmosphere was great. The only downside was the service. We waited about 30 minutes just to get our drinks, which was frustrating. Still, everything else was enjoyable enough that I'd give it another try. Might have just been an off night.

Amazing lunch specials and delicious sushi. The only issue is they have a lot of steps. I try to add a sushi roll I've never tried to build up my palate. The Boston roll and the spicy crab have been great additions to my usual. Friendly service and great value for your money. The sushi is fresh, made well and plated nicely. Highly recommend their lunch specials.

Went here 2 times so far and each time I enjoy the sushi but it takes so long to get the food after you order it. Sushi is fresh though and the crispy rice tuna was delicious! Super cute inside, but I've never been able to sit up on the rooftop because it's always full.

Parents were in town to visit, so we checked out Sushi I downtown! They luckily had a table open on the patio, but I would call ahead to make a reservation on a busy weekend for a patio spot. They had so many roll options, I would recommended sticking to those since there are so many unique options. Great ambiance and music for a hot summer night.

I love sushi! So my surprise and excitement when a new place opened up downtown. I've been to this location for many years when it was multiple other restaurants and I'm hoping this one stays we were greeted very promptly by a very friendly hostess and sat right away. Our server was excellent and knowledgeable. Our food did take a bit of a long time, but luckily I wasn't too hangry. My favorite was the Pittsburgh roll and the turtle roll.

So glad we have a good option for sushi downtown now! They have a rooftop too which is cool but they were full when we went. The sushi is fresh here and they have really fun rolls as well as your staples which is nice. The tempura was great and I really liked the trio tobiko roll that had the main kinds of fish I like. The space is nice and renovated and the staff was nice.

Such a good experience! The building is 3 floors and the hostess was so sweet she asked if we preferred to sit inside or outside, of course we chose outside which was on the very top floor! Such a nice view and the weather was lovely that night. I got the Lycheetini which was so good and not overly sweet! We tried the Pan-Fried Pork Gyoza, which for me I basically ate in one sitting! And of course we ordered the sushi! And I was not disappointed in any of the sushi dishes I ordered! It was overall a nice dinner!

Amazing addition to the downtown dining scene - and open for lunch with plenty of table service options. Large parties and bar seating in the beautifully renovated lounge. Great job with the design and layout of the restaurant. Note: steps....I don't remember there being an elevator in the building. The selection of sushi was fresh and diverse to the palate. The business is new and there is quirks in the timing of food delivery. That should work itself out as time goes by. Wine and spirits and mixed crafted cocktail list.

I'm going to write an update to this review due to the owner's response to my comment. The owner's response that the AYCE was only a limited time thing goes against their own social media (see the picture, they have taken the post down but googling Sushi I Pittsburgh still shows the preview for it) as well as several news articles that were talking about their launch. This attempt at gaslighting has all but solidified that we will NOT be back. And, more than that, we have been and will continue to tell everyone we know to never eat here. https://triblive.com/lifestyles/food-drink/all-you-can-eat-sushi-i-restaurant-debuts-in-downtown-pittsburgh/ https://www.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/news/2025/05/05/sushi-restaurant-opens-downtown.html https://patch.com/pennsylvania/pittsburgh/new-all-you-can-eat-restaurant-debuts-pittsburgh

Sushi-I is a promising new restaurant with some challenges ahead of them. From the top, they have done a fantastic job remodeling the space they are in. The third floor patio space is a rare outdoor spot with a great feel. The second floor bar and dining area is exceptionally well designed and feels fresh and bright. The hostess and staff were friendly and engaging. There were some faux pas which will doubtlessly get ironed out as the team gets comfortable. Some items were forgotten, tables were cleared very slowly (over 30 minutes) but the staff had a great attitude so this isn't expected to be a problem for long. The sushi menu could use some work. Sushi is, for all the focus on fish, about the rice. The rice on some of our rolls was simply done poorly, with rice that was smashed and almost a paste on a couple of rolls. This should never make it to a table. Otherwise, the menu is overly reliant on spicy tuna. Obtaining a continuous, appropriate suppliant of sushi quality fish is a challenge and spicy tuna helps fill the gap. But it isn't an ingredient that is highly sought after in a roll. There are other quibbles with the presentation of sashimi served with sauce but those are personal tastes. And finally, I hope they revisit their miso soup. A good miso soup shows attention to detail. This was "ok" but should be excellent to get everything off to a great start. Here's hoping that Sushi-I brings together all the elements in a challenging task! Gambate kudasai!

I've been generally impressed by the quality of the sushi. We ordered takeout this time, and everything was extremely well packaged and presented. In terms of the food, we focussed on fairly standard maki rolls: a spicy salmon roll and a spicy California roll. Both were very nicely done. We also tried the veg farm roll, and that was a nice vegetable forward option. Not life changing, but nicely done. We also opted for a vegetable poke bowl, and that was also good. Basically the same combination of vegetables as the veg farm roll, but in a bowl format. The bowl was good, but it was lacking some sort of sauce or glaze that might have pulled things together. It was easy enough to toss on some condiments of our own, but the bowl could have been better. Overall, I this is my favorite sushi destination in Squirrel Hill. It's very clear that the owners are invested in turning out a high quality experience, and that's exactly the type of business I like to support.

My usual order is the chicken katsu bento box, which comes with a good portion of crunchy sliced chicken katsu, rice, two dumplings, a California roll, and miso soup. I'm not sure exactly what it was, and after tasting it, it wasn't really for me. Because of the layout of the takeout container, some of it spilled into the rice and rolls. Next time, I'd probably ask for that sauce on the side in a separate container.

I heard her tell another table that her whole family is in the restaurant business, and her comfort and skill with every table made that abundantly clear. I asked our waiter if the portion size of chirashi was good and he said it's a good size and that they have carry out boxes if I don't finish. Tell me why this was the smallest chirashi I have ever seen anywhere. The slices of fish were thinner than the sliced ginger. If you stacked all of the slices, it would make a normal size of one piece of nigiri. The slice of tuna was so thin, you could see through it, much less taste it. I was still starving after and got the fried chicken nuggets which were a good portion, with good crunch. The sauce on the chicken was devoid of flavor except for the SALT. They were even able to take the chicken flavor away from the meat which is kind of an accomplishment in itself. My friend got the Sichuan pork dumplings and the dumplings were drowning in soy sauce so much so that you couldn't taste the Sichuan spice (if there was any). There's a sushi restaurant nearby that gives me food poisoning every time I eat there and I would have much rather have eaten there than Soba. I would definitely recommend this place to my enemies because they'll leave broke and still hungry.
