I had been to their main location when they first opened. When I saw that this one opened up closer to where I lived I was super excited! Upon entering you walk through a Japanese gate and a koi pond. Its truly beautiful. Don't mind my kid being a weirdo.... lol. But we wanted to sit outside because it was beautiful out. When we were seated I wanted to get my son the AYCE and for myself I just wanted one sushi roll. They wouldn't allow that. You have to either all get the AYCE at the table or not at all. I can kind of understand that due to people being sneaky and sharing but I just wanted my one roll. So that kinda sucked for him but we still enjoyed our rolls. This place completely exceeded expectations, right up-front. I don't visit AYCE sushi establishments in my adult form, but it had been on my list for some time...we picked that we felt would be less-busy, which was probably a good call. First into the place early evening, which allowed us to order at a controlled pace (we encountered no times in which we were waiting). Sushi was adequate - what was the standout was everything else, and the breath of things you could order, including soups. Tempura was above-average for this type of place. I made the mistake of ordering a sushi roll that my buddy might lean towards, and it was very heavy, so that slowed things down. I'd approach it differently on the next trip knowing what's standout and what isn't. Keeping it basic is probably the best approach, and avoiding the "fancier" rolls. Service was excellent - super helpful and polite. In terms of the location, you're in a basement of a building that honestly gives off "Korean BBQ chicken and beer" vibes (yes, I know it's a Japanese place), but it's absolutely fine - well-lit and got moderately loud when filled. Parking isn't a problem in this neighborhood if you're okay with walking a mere block (not sure why I'm seeing comments regarding parking - it's a city..). Will be returning. read more

This location recently opened and I was excited as I don't like driving much near the city. The parking situation at the Shadyside location is dreadful so I looked forward to this one. Most of what we tried was pretty good. I do want to say that the other location has a much larger menu so that was a bummer for me. It seems to be same price but less options (mostly sushi & appetizers). Service was great, parking very easy in lot & the decor was super cute. They are still waiting for their liquor license when I went last weekend, they have good tea drinks though! read more

Leo was our server, and she was AMAZING! I went here with my cousins for our monthly meet up, and we had a great time. The restaurant was very cute, with some cool whale light fixtures above the bar. I love how many appetizer options they have, and their drink menu is very affordably priced. The fish was fresh and delicious, but they definitely go heavy on the rice (expected for an all you can eat place). I would definitely recommend this as one of the better all you can eat sushi places in the Pittsburgh area. read more

Walked in to be seated and was told I would have to sit outside due to my service dog being with me. I informed them we would prefer to sit indoors due to weather and the host said he would have to get the managers permission. While we waited another employee was making side comments about how we had to show a "service dog card" or it was fake. I informed the staff that per ADA laws such a card does not exist and legally a service dog is granted access to public places. I informed them this dog aides in mitigating my disability. They just said "I'm sorry. I know" they offered instead to seat me away from other customers. I declined. I will not spend my money on a group of staff who treated us so rudely and claimed my disability was fake. read more

You don't have to go to Shadyside for Kijura ayce sushi anymore. Recently opened and there is both indoor and outdoor seating. Very nicely decorated inside with room to accommodate bigger parties. Outdoor patio seating with a cute koi pond. Currently byob alcohol for 30 days until their liquor license goes into effect (sake, beer, Japanese whiskey). The sushi is delicious. For 2 hours, you can pick anything off the menu and they're pretty quick to bring out the items. Loved the jalepeno yellowtail appetizer and fried oysters. Sashimi, esp the salmon and tuna is ridiculously fresh. Customized ramen/udon available as well. 33$ a person on weekends and if you add $1 unlimited soda. They have cheaper prices for lunch and for dinner M-Thursday. The staff is amazing and so sweet. Call ahead if you want to make reservations or reserve on their website. First time trying Kujira ever. Let me just say it was delicious! I got the soup with the tonkotsu broth, chicken, udon noodles and a California roll. First, I'd like to say everyone was great their service was amazing! I asked for the broth to be a little spicier and they gave me things on the side to help with that! The broth was delicious! The California rolls were a perfect size! And it didn't feel like I was getting scammed for my money! It is definitely worth a try if you go here! This restaurant opened recently in the Chartiers Valley Shopping Center, and today my daughter and I stopped for lunch. I have never been to an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant before, so this was a new experience for me. We had the "Fantastic AYCE Lunch" for $24.99 each. To start, we ordered two appetizers, the Gyoza and Beef Negimaki. Also a Salad, and a Ramen. We also ordered a variety of rolls too (My favorite was the Godzilla Roll). We didn't want to order too much all at once, because there is an extra fee if you don't eat everything. The service was very good. We had a human server, and two robot servers. We were checked on frequently to make sure everything was good, and if we needed to order more. Everything was made fresh to order, and it all tasted freshly made. The hot items all arrived piping hot. I liked certain items more than others, but everything was good. We enjoyed our "Fantastic Lunch" experience here, and would come back again some time . . . This was our first time hear, The staff was very pleasant and nice, The service was good, fast and friendly. It was All you eat, all fresh and tasty. Not a big fan of the raw stuff, but I tasted it. The crab Rangoon's were home made, these were my favorite. It was not busy for lunch time, but it was after 1 pm when we got there. Worst service I have experienced ever. I try to give a lot of grace for service given I have worked in a restaurant for years. But the "servers" don't know the menu, and they don't speak professionally. I don't think they were formally trained servers but just fill-ins for the night, unless I'm mistaken. Wrong orders came to our table on multiple occasions across multiple food runners, we received no menus and when we did we weren't given enough, no soy sauce holder, no ginger and wasabi, and long wait time. When asked to change the channel to the Pirates game, the host? or server? or busboy? just handed us the remote. It's still sitting on our table as I write this! Very unprofessional communication and workplace manners. Great food though! read more

I was really hoping KuJiRa would turn out to be a go-to spot, but this meal was super disappointing. The food we could lay hands on was good, but they hit every bad mark for service. We were seated quickly, but oddly, folks who were seated after us were waited on and served before we were. I'll give that a pass. It's "all you can eat", but only if you have the time to sit forever to eat it. LOL The service was Slooooooooow. Like... *I-had-time-to-get-hungry-between-orders* slow. There was a good deal of confusion and chaos between the staff, and wandering dizzy robots didn't help the problem. Our last order (like all the other orders) was taking forever, until a server finally took what appeared to be a detour to our table to say : "Ummmm.... we're out of that. Would you like something else?" At that point we surrendered. We were there for well over two hours. Our patience was no match for this place and we had simply run out of time. Perhaps it's because they are new. Perhaps they were unable to handle the volume of business. But for lots of wrong reasons, this meal was truly memorable - even though we would like to forget it. Upside? Place is clean. Food is good. They seemed to be trying. read more
