I decided to try their pan fried pork dumplings as well as their General Tso chicken. The General Tao's chicken was just okay. The portion was pretty great, and the price was pretty okay. The meat was a little chewy, which I wasn't a fan of, and the chicken chunks were a bit too large. The sauce itself was fine but nothing special. It was overall okay. The dumplings were quite good. They char these very nicely when they are pan fried. I also really enjoy the sauce, which was flavorful and savory. They do use a dough for the wrapping, though. Some of my classic go-to rolls are the Philly roll, rainbow roll, rock and roll. If I'm feeling like getting an appetizer there's never a wrong choice between dumplings or ahi tuna. It's been far too long since I've come here. The food is always very good and the owner is fantastic at making sure everyone has a great experience. The wait staff is also all super attentive. I wish I lived about 3 miles closer to them as I used to have them delivered all the time! My daughter decided she wanted to dress up and try Chinese food for the first time tonight. They don't have a kids menu but brought her the plain chicken and broccoli she wanted with the sauce on the side. She seemed to really like it although she decided the sauce wasn't for her (but it was very good!) My husband had their dragon roll and rainbow roll, which both were delicious. I went for shrimp and eggplant, and added on mixed veggies as I was feeling the need for some corn and broccoli. Highly recommend adding it onto this dish as it made it colorful and delicious! I can't believe I haven't completed a review for Red Tea House yet, as it's been a go-to for years. I would visit with my family regularly when I was younger, and it's remained a personal favorite as I've gotten older. Funny disclaimer: I don't tend to order Chinese entrées when I order from Red Tea House. A big part of their menu and dishes feature spicier sauces and ingredients, which admittedly aren't my favorite. Instead, I tend to order some sushi rolls and a couple of appetizers. And I am fine with that, because Red Tea House's steamed pork dumplings are my ultimate treat food/comfort food. These dumplings use more dough than I tend to see elsewhere. Add some soy sauce and the result is just mouthwatering. Red Tea House sushi admittedly isn't the cheapest, but when a dumpling craving hits I tend to go all-in and enjoy myself. The classic nigiri and maki rolls we know and love are available here, as are my favorite signature sushi rolls - the Rainbow Roll and the Dragon Roll. It's everything I need for a tasty "treat myself" meal. Lunch specials are also available, by the way. Sometimes I'll order Chinese food from Red Tea House (crazy, I know) and take advantage of this option when I'm in the mood for Beef and Broccoli or Lo Mein. I love the classics/I'm basic like that. Red Tea House is always a delicious treat when I order from them, and just writing this review has me craving those dumplings. I suspect a lunch special will be delivered to my door in the near future, and I'll enjoy every bite when it happens! read more

I was really searching for good food in the area of Pittsburgh that I was visiting. Red Tea House popped up a few times. I called around 8:15 pm (they close at 9 PM & I felt bad calling so close to closing) they took my order and informed me they closed at 9. I left the house right away and of course, I got lost! Finally, I arrived around 8:50. They were super nice to me! We chatted for a couple of minutes and they handed me my food. I had ordered Pad Thai with shrimp and a soft shell crab roll. The pad thai was so good and had at least 12 jumbo shrimp in it. I was amazed about how many jumbo shrimp there were. They also fit so much pad thai in the container that it lasted me 3 meals! So it all started during this Pandemic when I covered up in protective gear and went to Rite-Aid for a drink, some pancake syrup, batteries and some skittles. Essentials. When the guy was ringing me out we exchanged the typical pleasantries and then he says, "I'm so full. My boss just bought me lunch and it was some of the best Chinese food I've ever had." Well naturally, I had to know where it was from because Chinese food happens to be my second or maybe third favorite food. He said it was from Red Tea House and I had heard of this place but had not been yet. I walked back home, sanitized my hands and pulled out my celly to look on Uber Eats and see if there was delivery. Ah yes. There was. And Here's how it went: Got the fried dumplings: SO GOOD. Their pot sticker sauce was also some of the best I've had. Got the Garlic Pork- Didn't read that it had celery in it and I don't like celery HOWEVER, it was delicious and the flavor was awesome. Got the orange chicken- wow, the flavor of this was awesome. The sauce was the bomb and there was even little orange peels in there so you know, they actually use orange...who knew? Lastly: Got the Chow Lo Mein and the hot and sour soup. Alas, I was too full off everything else to even try those 2 but my Husband and Son gave them one thumbs up (the other thumb was shoveling food into their face). Overall, I can't wait until the world reopens so I can go experience this restaurant in person because I definitely enjoyed it. Thanks Brian, from Rite Aid. Another disappointing take out order. The Egg Drop Soup appeared to be watered down and was tasteless. The sushi rolls also tasted very warm. The Shrimp Lo Mein was bland and only had approximately 5 popcorn shrimp. The only food that we had no complaint about and was probably the best was the Sweet and Sour Chicken that the kids wanted. It is a shame that the quality of the food has declined since the pandemic. The Red Tea House used to be a favorite of ours. We have finally decided not eat here again. read more
