I love this place, easily my favorite for Chinese in pittsburgh It's a bit out of the city but so worth going to. The actual restaurant is very unassuming and looks like a standard americanized Chinese place but it has some of the most authentic Chinese food I've had in the midwest I go for the tofu options and recommend the chili dry pot or triple S tofu. The spices were perfect for the General Tsos Chicken and the chicken was the perfect crispy consistency. I've only had takeout or delivery from here, but it is DELICIOUS every time. They're my go to when I'm craving Sichuan food. The portions are huge and the prices are great. The mala crispy eggplant is a must get for me. It's absolutely loaded with sichuan peppercorn! The sichuan cold noodles are simple but really great and refreshing. We went here in the summer and really enjoyed it. Decided to go for our annual Christmas Eve tradition and are undecided if we will go back. This is hands down the best General Tso's. Such fresh white meat chicken and large portions. Also if you want something spicy, the Hot Sauce Chicken literally put me into labor (I'm not joking - I ate it at 6pm last night and started labor 4 hours later). While visiting the area for work I came here as I saw they had authentic Szechuan dishes on their menu. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the décor is unlike most other Chinese restaurants, as it's really nice inside. I started with their egg drop soup, which was tasty, with a hint of sesame oil. Next up was their spicy garlic cucumbers, which had a nice kick to them, but weren't spicy. The cucumbers were fresh and there were a lot in the bowl; they tasted even better with a splash of Kikoman on them! The next thing I had was their scallion pancakes - They were the proper thickness and offered a nice crips. The scallion flavor in them was prevalent and they were really good, especially with the black garlic vinegar dipping sauce. Entrée was their cumin beef, with fried rice. The fried rice had egg, but no veggies and it tasted good. The cumin beef was pretty decent, but far from the best flavor of cumin dry wok'd Szechuan food I've ever enjoyed. The veggies were sliced too big and so was the garlic; I prefer thinly sliced garlic, it works so much better in the wok and then tastes great, but bigger chunks of garlic aren't very good in this dish. The beef was tender though. Wasn't very spicy, not as spicy as I'm used to from this dish. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and experience here and would return. read more

I get it's Christmas but if I'm sitting at the bar and it takes me over 30 minutes for someone to even give me a menu and acknowledge me after trying to flag bartenders multiple times, then for them to tell me that I am more than well come to order a drink but any food is going to take a minimum of 2 hours is insane and down right unprofessional. I'd think that bartenders work on tips and would prefer to wait on people eating and drinking at the bar and not to go orders that aren't tipping anything. Their loss. Three persons 1) sashimi and fresh spring rolls, 2) Vegetable Pad Thai, 3) Pepper Pot (typically spicy) and Hot and Sour Soup (I've ordered this many times). I requested no rice and asked for extra vegetables. The server said they could not accommodate. The Hot and Sour Soup was neither Hot nor Sour, just a bland broth. The Pepper Pot was bland and the server had them adjust it. The meal returned bland! I requested two take-out containers and the server did not offer to box the meal for us. The bill suggested 20% tip, I find this to be inappropriate! A tip is based on good service and accommodating patrons. I tipped 10%. Decided on the cold noodles which were amazing but super, super spicy. I couldn't eat them cause I knew I would pay for it later. The crab Rangoon came & it was clearly over cooked. I asked the server to have them remade. The second time they were still a little too dark for me, but I didn't say anything. Hubby & I shared the general Tsos with fried rice. It was super tender and really good. It only came with 2 pieces of broccoli but there was so much chicken. The portion was so big that we took it home for another meal to share. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Pittsburgh, while I know some may disagree let me explain. The quality of the food has never disappointed me, it's my partner's and I favorite. The menu is huge and you could find something for everyone. The general tso chicken and the orange chicken are both delicious. We always get fried rice as a side because it comes with white rice, so if your ordering it to go they will not swap the white rice if you request they will just charge it as a add on. The sushi is high quality there's better sushi spots in Pittsburgh, so I wouldn't just come here for the sushi. If you do decide to try the sushi, the black and gold roll and King Kong roll are my favorites. The reason it's a four star is it's definitely very expensive, and the service can be iffy sometimes. However finding a place that delivers quality food over & over again is worth it to me read more

I am so glad I chose this restaurant!! I think I may have had the best dan dan noodles of my life. The noodles were cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of spice. It was perfect. I never finish a whole bowl when I order these, but last night I did. I also ordered the soup dumplings which came to the table steaming heavily. They were definitely homemade and the sauce that went with them was great. Another thing about jade grill that was just an added bonus to my Sichuan craving was that they serve sushi. I wasn't expecting great, so the spicy salmon roll exceeded my expectations. I am in Pittsburgh for the week and want to try other local favorites, but I'm afraid I will end up at jade grill for the remainder of the week to try the entire menu. My husband and I love this place. They have the standard offerings plus dishes you won't find anywhere else. I threw a surprise birthday party for him in the vault (a real bank vault which serves as a semi-private room). They staff was very accommodating and everyone at the party had a wonderful time. Something I found really neat is that you can order any sushi roll with purple rice. I've never seen that before so I decided to give it a try. It didn't taste any different, but it was pretty! My wife and I were there Tuesday 12/10 and we had a server with tattoo and I believe she's her name was Amber. She helped us out with our many questions considering we are gluten free. She let us know our options and even told us things that were unable to be prepared gluten free as it would change the dish. She recommended great drinks and was very attentive .
