I came a few years ago and didn't like it, but I came back this week and was blown away. This place is amazing!!! Ended up coming 3 times within 2 weeks. I really love their ped krob. The curry is amazing and they give a huge portion of their duck. My other all time favorite is the mama kee mao. The seafood portion is also huge, and I love how they use jumbo shrimp. I think it's probably the best quality shrimp I've had in a while. The noodles are delicious as well, perfectly pan fried. All of their entrees are large portions and we always end up having extra to take home. For apps, all are great - some I recommend are the summer roll, crispy tofu, moo yang (also big portion size), and tom yum soup. I also really liked their Thai green tea. The tiramisu was a bit too much mascarpone but nonetheless still delicious. I liked how they use Thai tea instead of coffee for an unique twist. The restaurant itself is also adorable. Lighting is great, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Super easy to get a reservation last minute as well. Service is always fast.

Fine, but it could have been better. The actual restaurant space is relatively small, but it has good character. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, despite the number of guests they were supporting. We ordered takeout, and the ordering process was relatively straightforward. Our order took a little longer than expected, but that was mostly a result of the restaurant being very busy. In terms of the food, it was hit or miss. The fresh/summer rolls were nicely done, with an excellent portioning of ingredients. The fresh roll dipping sauce was particularly good relative to both flavor and texture. The tom yum soup was somewhat bland: it was spicy but lacked much in the way of other flavor. I felt like I needed to jump in with some lime juice and fish sauce to get it on course. The red curry also seemed lacking in flavor, but the prik pao was excellent. Like I said: all over the map. I'm glad we checked out the place, but I'm not sure we'll prioritize trying it again. It might be a better dine-in experience than takeout.

Craving Thai food, Yelp brought us here, a small Thai restaurant in Shadyside. We called ahead around 6pm on a Sunday in May. Our food was ready within 20-25 minutes. When you arrive for takeout, you'll pay there if you call ahead. The entire pick up took under two minutes. To eat, I ordered the chicken green curry mild. My wife got the larb and our eight-year-old daughter the pumpkin curry with chicken. When you order, they will ask your desired spice level from 0 to 3. The 0 is truly not spicy at all. Overall, the food was good. Was it the best green curry I've had? No, but it was still tasty, Vegetables like broccoli were more plentiful than the chicken.

Tucked away in what looks like someone's home is this amazing Thai restaurant. Ambiance was very welcoming and made it feel like you were stepping into your friends home for a meal. Portion size to price ratio was perfect. Service was 10 stars (shoutout Tu)!

This is a cute restaurant in a great location. Prices seem on par with other Thai restaurants. My panang curry was unfortunately pretty mediocre. There were SO many peas in this dish. I don't dislike peas but I didn't ask for peas with a side of chicken and curry. There were far too many peas. The curry itself seemed like it was frozen and reheated. Which I get it, you gotta batch prep food, but it wasn't warm and it was grainy and not flavorful. Finally, I asked for medium spice and was given the most bland dish. Overall just not a good experience and I would go elsewhere rather than return here.

Had another great meal at Senyai. Started with a couple of appetizers--classic Thai chicken satay and Thai wings. The wings I felt were a little dry. I'm not a huge satay fan, it's just a bit plain. The peanut sauce was good. My main course was excellent. I had mana kee mao. I wanted noodles and a lot of veggies. This had carrots, broccoli, green beans and Napa cabbage. It has a nice spice to it and I liked the curly noodles. All in all, a great meal!

VERY small Thai place in East Liberty but cute interior! The summer rolls were the star of the show and would come back just for these! The pad se ew was good but not the best I've ever had. Overall good experience curious to try some other items from here

really great service and ambiance! everyone was really nice and attentive. the food was super yummy and dessert was incredible as well. the waitress recommended the mango mousse cake and i absolutely agree, it was definitely a standout. the mango sticky rice was also good, but the rice was a little too hard and dry for my liking.

Delicious Thai food in Shadyside! They have indoor and outdoor seating with heaters when it's cold out along with string lights that create a nice atmosphere outside. We started off with the seafood delight which had shrimp and calamari. The breading was solid light and crisp and the sauce was so tasty! For my entree I got the si-ew and the flavor was absolutely phenomenal. I enjoyed every bite, such a comforting dish. I only have 4 stars instead of 5 because the broccoli was a little hard, but that's my personal preference! Highly recommend; wide array of Thai dishes to try on the menu. I look forward to going back and trying more!

Incredible food and the service is amazing. Great outdoor dining experience. It's a hot day and we are sitting in the shade. Outdoor fans help. LOL

Talk about a business from home. As soon as I walked into this restaurant, I was like, did I just walk into someone's house? The first thing you see is a stairway that looks exactly like something you would have in your private home. You don't go up the stairway, rather you turn right into the restaurant and Despite the very modern ceiling, the restaurant also feels very homey. Not too many seats but there is outdoor seating available with some heated lamps. I came in on a Monday night around 7:45 PM and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. So I would recommend getting a reservation no matter what day of the week it is. They serve your typical Thai foods but also have a long list of chef specials. For appetizer, I got the crab Rangoon and the chicken wings. The crab Rangoon was so good, highly recommended. The chicken wings were crispy but a bit too dry for my liking and didn't have enough seasoning. I can't remember what I got from my entrée but it involved pork and was from the chefs specials. It was very good and came with a small bowl of white rice. Portions were large. The food was good enough that I would definitely come back in the future

The mama kee mao, kee mao, tom yum soup, and crunchy rolls were all good (4/5), although we thought it was a little expensive for what it was. The shrimp in the mama kee mao and kee mao was very good! However, the service was slow, but they did a good job of keeping our waters filled once the food did come. The restaurant is really small, so you probably want to make a reservation before trying to go.

I visited Senyai Thai this past weekend for a spontaneous dinner and it was a delight! I've never been here before but I will certainly be back ASAP. We were sat out on the covered deck, which was LOVELY, and our service was quick and friendly. We asked our servers for suggestions and they provided great insights and thoughts. I tried the Pad Medmamuang for my entree and it was outstanding. It's a stir-fry dish consisting of crispy chicken, carrots, onions, peppers, and hearty cashews in a DELICIOUS sauce that was sweet and salty and nutty all at once. Our table also split the summer rolls and the seafood delight as appetizers. Along with my dish, I ordered a Thai iced tea, which was wonderful and refreshing. I loved my meal so much, and I cannot wait to return for the flavors, service, and ambiance! As a note, it's a small restaurant, so I will make a reservation next time I visit. Also, BYOB!

Not only do they look great, they taste great. It's always great to find a location that takes pride in their mixed drink selection. The only flag I have is if you order the Honey Bee Martini be prepared to feel like a bee is stinging you every time you take a sip. I enjoy spice, but even this had enough kick to make me savor it periodically. Disclaimer: Taste the flower at your own risk. Remember the saying, "Curiosity killed the cat". - Food: 4 / 5 Appetizer - When you think American cuisine, what do you picture? A hamburger? Hot dogs? An American Flag on the back of a Ford F-150 with a bald eagle in the driver seat? Even though all those can be true, I think of Crab Rangoon. Even as a non-crab person, I do enjoy popping one of these bad boys into my mouth after dipping it in the provided sauce. Nicky's uses a homemade pineapple sauce that adds just a slight tang on this small delight. Entrée - Bread wasn't the greatest creation of mankind. Actually, it was spice because that allowed Thai food to flourish. It has always been of my opinion that if you know how to use spices, then you can make any dish pop. We had the Pad Phet and Basil. Both dishes were absolutely flavorful and made each bite as enjoyable as the last. If you get a box, make sure to get two and a paper bag for reinforcement because if you have sauce left, you are going to want to pour that over your leftovers. Dessert - The sticky rice mango is definitely an interesting dish, but it had something in it that tasted like half and half and ruined any flavor that the mangoes held. The ice cream saved that sweet taste, but the sticky rice that lay below reminded me of a Rice Krispie treat that you found in a corner of your kitchen that was there for months and a friend dared you to take a bite. Disclaimer: You cannot eat the banana leaf...don't ask how we know. - Service: 4.25 / 5 When dining with someone who has a food allergy, you always worry about cross-contamination. Luckily, at Nicky's, even without disclosure, we had no issues at the end of the night. However, as the restaurant gets busy, the service definitely becomes slower, but if you have a great companion you honestly don't notice it. Nicky's also does a great job of not rushing you out the door as soon as the dessert has been finished and it seems each server helps the other servers if it becomes really busy, which isn't a bad system. It's worth noting there are standard charges including a pre-calculated tip, which is fairly common for restaurants of this style. - Vibe: 5 / 5 Nicky's is the exact reason why I started doing food reviews. By that, I mean I wanted to find interesting restaurants where you could sit down with other people, have a great conversation, enjoy some good food and just relax in the unique ambiance. - Overall: 4.25 / 5 My momma always said, "Thai food is a great indicator for a vibe check" and for my own personal add-on, "Great Thai food is how memories are made". If you are ever on the fence about certain people in your life, take them to Nicky's. By the end of the meal, you'll know where they stand. Recommend? Why is this even a question? Of course!

My friend set up notification alerts on Resy and a different party canceled their reservation the day before. This restaurant is very popular. KHAO YUM - 24 This is a 17 ingredient salad with tamarind dressing. I'm not usually a salad person, but this one was incredibly delicious and refreshing. Lots of crispy textures from the various vegetables, some juicy, tart and bitter pieces of grapefruit, and the crispy rice was the perfect fried carb on top. A bit pricy, but a great app to share for the whole table. CRISPY SHRIMP - 32 We were each able to get two pieces of shrimp among the four of us. The shrimp was batter and fried with a sweet garlicky glaze. While it was crispy and juicy, I thought it was a bit too saucy. It wasn't my favorite, but one of my friends really enjoyed the shrimp -- sauce and all. We had a horrible culinary experience the past couple of days driving through West Virginia, Ohio, and western New York. Pittsburgh was our last stop before heading home and Kiin Lao and Thai Eatery made up for all of the culinary disappointment this weekend. Let's talk about the ambiance first. Everything about this restaurant was quite beautiful. When I say beautiful, I don't mean it in an elegant way, but an artsy street vibe way. It is hip, clean, and we'll put together. You can tell a lot of love went into the decorations and into every piece of art on its walls. The service was pretty good. The server herself was attentive when needed and left us alone when needed. The food was AWESOME. We got the papaya combo with the Thum Mak Houng option, curry puffs, grilled pork shoulder with sticky rice, and Pad Gra Prow Street Style. The papaya was "lao-style" made with fermented shrimp paste. If you love deep umami flavors, this is it for you. The papaya salad was pungent and sour and savory spicy and just so satisfying. We asked for a 6/10 spiciness and they came with the heat. The chicken skewers that came with it was flavorful too. A little bit of char on the chicken would've brought it over the top. The curry puffs were so comforting and had that south Asian flavor profile that was very welcomed. The curry and spice blend did not overwhelm the potatoes. Instead it enhanced the earthy potato flavors in the best way possible. The menu said that it came with a cucumber sauce but I don't think we got that. What we got was a more like a honey sauce. The sauce was good in itself but didn't pair well with the puffs. The grilled pork shoulder was delectable. The meat was tender and it was seasoned perfectly. Again, more char on the meat would've brought it to a new level. The only gripe I have with this order was the sticky rice. The amount of sticky rice you get with it was so small I thought it was a joke initially. Nope, it was not! I thought the Pad Gra Prow Street Style was OKAY. I would've made it a little saucier. Despite this, my significant other absolutely LOVED it. Pad Gra Prow was my significant other's favorite dish when she lived overseas. She said that this was the best Pad Gra Prow she has had on this side of the world. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We would definitely come by again when we are back this way.
