Tamarind Pink Noodles
Star S.

Never knew this place existed for how many times I have been on Craig st. I can't remember what this place was prior but the whole process of ordering is rather simple than to wait for a waitress/waiter. Ordering is via the kiosk and you wait to pick up your food. After you order, you can find a booth or a table to sit at. It's large but limited with seats but it's doable depending on what time you go. We ordered 2 drinks - Thai tea and the green Thai tea (the green is way better). We also ordered 2 small bites - fried chicken and the fried mushroom which both are delicious. We prefer the mushroom as it's light and airy but the chicken is a great spice. Our bowls were the Kao soi and the pink tamarind noodles. I really wish you could add the pink tamarind to the curry broth because it's so lovely together. My only compliant is that I wish you could order grilled protein to it than fried. Also if you order the steak, it is well done and not medium well. Parking is the usual dread on Craig st so be cautious with that.

Grapow restaurant serves a variety of street foods and beverages that are inspired by Thailand, China, Korea, and other Asian countries. I ate lunch here one time. I used a kiosk to order and pay for my food and drink. Minutes later, an employee called my name and number and handed my food and drink to me in a to-go bag. He forgot to give me dressing but then remembered and gave it to me. Many indoor tables and chairs are available, but I was low on time, so I took my food back to work. My mango salad with added shrimp was very fresh and flavorful. If I had had more time, then I would have tried more menu items.

It's Saturday and I'm at the book fest at the main Carnegie Library. I'm getting hungry so decided to give Grapow a try. Walking in other fellow festival goers had the same idea. They're is still plenty of seating, no problem. Ordering can be done via the counter or kiosk. I ordered using the kiosk without issue. I ordered the sen klook, asking to hold the peanuts. I take a seat and wait for a notification for my order. On e ready, I picked it up from the counter. The noodles are tasty but I didn't get much of the chili lime sauce/flavor. The pork and meatballs were good, with the pork rinds being my favorite. It made the dish more interesting both flavor and texture wise. Overall good experience. It was very limited in terms of interaction, depending on your thoughts on that--pro/con.

If you start from an understanding that this is a fast casual destination, it's fine. Some generic Asian fusion with various combinations of rice, noodles, and protein (with limited vegetables). Online ordering was easy, and my order was ready very quickly. The space was clean and reasonably decorated. In terms of the food, most flavors were somewhat muted. The kao soi was essentially the star of the show with a combination of noodle textures (some boiled, some crispy). The fresh onion and bean sprouts were a nice touch, and the curry broth was served separately to keep everything fresh and nicely textured. The grapow bowl with tofu was fine, and it even carried some sparse pops of fresh basil: it just seemed like mostly rice and crumbled tofu with limited flavor. The tamarind pink noodles were fairly bland: I was able to dig to the bottom of the bowl to find notes of tamarind, but it was mostly a big bowl of pink noodles with some sparse bean sprouts and a scrambled egg. If you're looking for some quick Asian street food with limited vegetables, this place is fine. The problem is that there are so many other great options worth checking out first.

How they advertised fried tofu. Very misleading.

I was so excited to order the fried tofu appetizer but man was I sorely disappointed. Photo shown on their menu was NOTHING like what I received. Tofu was hard and dry with no flavor, and the Grapow sauce I paid an extra $1 for was super salty. The Kao Moo Dang was pretty good. Sauce was spot on to what I have had in Thailand, however it was a little dry. Normally served more wet with a thinner sauce that can be mixed with the rice. Again heavily disappointed with the Kao Mun Gai. The rice flavor was pretty authentic but $15 for five pieces of chicken that was mainly bones instead of meat and a tiny "soup" that was practically in a sauce container had me feeling like it should have been priced as an $8 meal. I liked that the store was clean but it was a long wait despite having no line when I ordered, so be prepared and buffer your time accordingly.

Not a fan of the KAO MUN GAI $15 for Inedible chicken thigh with skin and bones. And the clear soup was more like the greasy chicken broth. The soup was boiled in.

We stopped by on a Friday night around 5:30pm. You order at a kiosk and then pick a table and wait for them to call your name when your food is ready. The inside has plenty of seating both at tables and booths. I snagged a booth and the wait for our food was pretty short. Our food was pretty good. I've had better kao soi but the enoki tempura was really good and the Korean chicken bites were pretty good. My friend mentioned that his garlic Grapow bowl could have had a better sauce to rice ratio aka he needed more sauce.

Korean Chicken Bites

I stopped by here a couple of weekends ago with my wife and kids for dinner. This was actually our second time ordering from Grapow and both times we used toast which is what their website took us to. This business is located on South Craig Street and both times that we visited I drove around in our car while my wife ran inside to get the food. As such, I cant tell you anything about the inside but I do know that both times our food was ready whenever it was supposed to be. On both occasions my wife and I ordered the same entrees as I went with the Grapow while my wife went the Green Curry with chicken. On our first trip we also ordered the enoki tempura and tofu bites as an appetizer while on our second trip here we ordered the Korean chicken. I actually still remember both the enoki tempura and the tofu bites as both were pretty tasty. The tofu bites were fried and came with a good tasting chili sauce but the enoki tempura was easily the star of the two. They were fried super crispy and with how thin they were, I really enjoyed eating them without any sauce. Similarly I really enjoyed the Korean chicken bites. While they weren't as crispy as I would have liked, that's my fault between the takeout pickup and the amount of time it took for us to get home. Thankfully I didn't really mind as I really loved their garlicky chili sauce. After finishing with the appetizer I started in on my entree and I found it to be really good. I mean, can you really go wrong ordering the grapow at a restaurant called Grapow? The egg was runny when cut and the flavor combination of the basil, chili garlic sauce and onion with my chicken was fantastic. My wife also ended up really enjoying her green curry bowl here as evidenced by the fact the fact that she ordered it again on our second visit! The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. As a matter of a fact, I already have. Both my wife and I have really enjoyed all of the food that we have received from Grapow.

Delicious! This is a great casual spot with easy ordering and a quick turnaround. When you walk in, you can order right at a kiosk then your name is called when the food is ready. We started with the Enoki Tempura and then tried the Grapow and Tamarind Pink Noodles for our entrées. Everything was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. To drink, we had the Butterfly Pea Lemonade and Thai Iced Tea. The lemonade was very refreshing and a great addition to the meal. I'd definitely recommend stopping in if you're looking for a casual spot with fast service.

Went here with my friend tyler who is Thai and he said that this is some of the most authentic Thai food in all of Pittsburgh! The service was super quick and this is definitely a hidden gem (but I'm sure not for long) in Oakland!

So, so good! Like others have mentioned, this is some of the most authentic Thai food I've had in Pittsburgh. It's advertised as a fast-casual/street food spot, but I was genuinely impressed by the plating--because of that, I'd recommend dining in! Ordering is super easy with the kiosks, which include pictures and descriptions of each dish, and there are plenty of tables. I hope they continue to do well and look forward to coming back to try more dishes.

This new spot on Craig is awesome! They're opened by the same people as Senyai and I love Senyai! The staff is super nice and sweet. They are bringing street food to the CMU area and I'm here for it! I really liked their Khao Soi, the curry was absolutely delicious and the noodles were so yummy, even as leftovers. I also really liked their salad, the dressing is 100. I love that most of these dishes are customizable for type of meat you want. They have street food staples like char siu (roast bbq pork) and haianese chicken too! Loved the enoki tempura and crab rangoons too! Their drinks are really good. We loved our Thai green iced tea and butterfly pea lemonade. Definitely check them out for some delicious street food!

Half eaten already, was prettier earlier lol.

Welcome to the neighborhood!!! First trip was 10/10. Legit super high quality Thai that we did not have this side of Squirrel Hill. Might even be better! What's definitely better is that you order and they hand it to you a few minutes later. Quick service, no wait staff, perfect for Craig Street. VERY clean inside. The star is the menu and the high quality food.

It started in trying to go to the south side location but it was just a window, and I really wanted to experience the full outing so we doubled back to the strip and Larryville. Anyway - we sat down and were helped immediately by a very animated waitress with red hair? Place is very industrial - large signage and some tv's - kind of like a Buffalo Wild Wings. I ordered the double stack make your own with beef, regular bun, cheddar, bacon and burgher sauce. As my side I swapped for mac and cheese. The food came out fairly quick. The burger was VERY GOOD. Seasoned nicely, stacked high, and really just a solid burger. I added an extra side of the burgher sauce as well to dunk the burger in which was really good too. The macaroni was good - just wasn't hot. The cheese sauce was nice and flavorful, not bland at all Overall - I would come back here. And I would recommend.

In retrospect, having tasted the sauce as a side (below) I think they tossed the wings in the sauce when they were too hot, kind of denatured things, and got too much oil in it.
