    Crab Rangoon
    Taylor G.

Thai Me Up has some of the best Crab Rangoons in Pittsburgh hands down. Love the peanut sauce that comes with it. The lunch portions are generous and come with a spring roll. Dumplings were good, but Crab Rangoons are the star of the show.

Nice, inviting space, but mediocre food. We tried takeout, and the ordering process was very easy. Our order was packaged extremely well, with just about every container that might spill wrapped tightly in plastic wrap. That was a nice touch. In terms of the food, nothing was specifically bad but many items were not as flavorful as they could have been. The fresh rolls were nicely presented with a nice basil flavor. The chive dumplings were more dumpling than chive, but the chive was very much present and fresh. The spicy tofu salad was actually a star of the show: the tofu was brightly flavored with chili sauce and the fresh lettuce, tomato, and onion added a crisp punch. The lemongrass soup was somewhat uninteresting. Add some fish sauce and lime juice, and the soup pops; without that, there wasn't much going on. The garlic stir fry was somewhat bland and disappointing. The red curry was somewhat better but still not great. The noodles on fire definitely presented some heat with some nicely textured noodles but there was very little flavor beyond a flat heat. They could have been better. All told, this wasn't a terrible experience. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated with a bold exterior and kitschy interior. The takeout packaging was great. It's just the flavors that seemed somewhat lacking.

I came here with my boyfriend after visiting the national aviary. The restaurant is combined with a Asian grocery store that sells other items as well. The restaurant is very cozy and welcoming. Our waiter was very sweet and even gave us some candies on the way out. The massaman curry was amazing! I would really recommend you order it. My only complaint would be that I wish there were more mushrooms in the lemongrass soup, and I would enjoy if they added some more items to the menu.

A true neighborhood staple. Always delicious, always fresh. One of the original Thai BYOB spots in Pittsburgh, and it's just as good as when it first opened! The menu stays interesting without losing what makes it special. Favorites are the pad see yew with tofu and fresh spring rolls, and the pan-fried tofu is incredibly flavorful -- honestly some of the best I've had anywhere. There are many vegan-friendly options, though the curries are not vegan due to fish sauce. A must-visit if you love great Thai food and classic Pittsburgh neighborhood spots.

Enjoyed our meal. I actually found my level 2 meal to be hotter than my companion's level 3. But both were good.

Thai Me Up is a Thai restaurant that has a creative name! Its menu lists appetizers (e.g., spring rolls), salads, soups, fried rices, noodles, curries, entrees (e.g., chicken, beef, pork, tofu, and shrimp), ice creams, teas, and much more. My husband and I ate one lunch here. The employees promptly and courteously seated us, took our orders, brought our beverages and foods, and took our payment. Here are my ratings for what we ordered: Crab rangoon - 4.5 stars - A wonton skin contained cream cheese and some real crab meat and was accompanied with a tasty tamarind sauce. Thai-style wontons - 4.5 stars - Wontons contained chicken and tasted a little like fried chicken. On the side was a flavorful plum sauce. Green curry - 5 stars - This green curry was some of the best that I have ever tasted in my life. It had a perfect balance of sweet coconut milk and spicy green-chili paste. It contained broccoli, green beans, and my choice of protein of shrimp. On the side was fluffy rice. Pad Thai - 3 stars - Pad Thai is my husband's go-to entree at Thai restaurants, and unfortunately this one did not meet his expectations. He said that it tasted too sweet. The ingredients were stir-fried rice noodles, egg, ground peanuts, bean sprouts, and his choice of protein of beef. Mango bubble tea with tapioca - 5 stars - This beverage tasted sweet and delicious. Milk bubble tea - 4 stars - My husband drank this beverage, and it tasted good.

This was our favorite Thai spot when we lived in Pittsburgh so when visiting this week we had to stop back in- still great Quick service, tasty food It is relatively small inside (~10 tables) I feel like it was bigger last time we were here) there is a small market next to it. Absolutely loved it. The food and service were amazing. I'm looking forward to going back and trying more menu items. They also have a market next door. I plan to explore and see what cool things I can find.

LOVED THIS. Will 100% be returning next time I want Thai! The woman working made me feel right at home and the restaurant is very quaint and cozy. Crab rangoons were delicious and not too sweet and I loved my noodles, I even had plenty leftover for my lunch the next day

    Taro with sticky rice

Nice Thai restaurant with a lot of the classic dishes and a few interesting items. The area is near Carson street on the South Side and the spot isn't too too packed typically. I got to try out their pad se ew (Pad Z-U) noodles and the sticky rice with taro as a dessert. The pad Z-U was quite well done. They include a nice portion of noodles and an adequate amount of both vegetables and protein. They cooked everything to perfection, especially that delicious tofu. I always like the noodles to be saucy, and this place does a pretty good job at that! The dessert was unique and I'm very glad I got to try it. The taro is quite earthy so it probably isn't to everyone's taste but I enjoyed it. Nicely cooked rice, and little beans (I think?) as well as some sweet white syrup. Would recommend trying! All in all, I really liked this place. Good noodles and nice, unique desserts. Fair prices and portions as well.

    Lunch - Green Curry
    Tricia R.

Charming Thai place with seating that overlooks a garden - off of Sarah St. in the SSFlats. Had high hopes for the place after seeing the 4.7 ranking, but - alas - it did not live up to that score. Had the lunch portion of the green curry which was served with a small spring roll. The curry was watery without much flavor even though I ordered a 3 out of 5 spice level. Chicken was "off" and a few floating green beans and broccoli sprigs did not help matters. The place is lovely and the staff were helpful and abundant. Too bad the curry was a dud.

    Pad mee with chive
    Joya S.

There weren't that many people there and service was quick. You can sit wherever you want. The place is nicely decorated and there's a little store inside but it was closed while we were there. The pad mee was good and a nice portion. However the moo Deng was a lot smaller for the same price and super salty. The special sauce is like a thin broth at the bottom. I also asked for no cilantro and they still added it but no big deal, I just took it off. Some of the pork belly in the moo dang was kind of dry but in the pad mee it was very tender.

    Ba Mee Moo Dang
    Anqi H.

We came here for lunch on the weekend. It felt like a neighborhood favorite. There was only one waitstaff, but the service was friendly prompt. I had the Ba Mee Moo Dang for the first time and it was really good. The pork belly was very tender. The noodles had a light sauce on it. It was the perfect thing on a hot day. I also really liked their interior design. Connected to the restaurant is an Asian grocery store that sells spices and sauces. It was neat to walk through the store after lunch. Overall we had a great time here and would come again!

Both delicious. The 17 ingredient salad is highly recommended and we could tell why. So refreshing and flavorful. It was fun finding all of the 17 ingredients. For our entrees I got the crispy shrimp and my boyfriend got the khao soi. Both left us craving more the whole drive home. Staff were so pleasant and happy to answer any questions. Beautiful restaurant, indoor and outdoor. I think next time we visit, we will have a later reservation outside to enjoy the greenery. Make a reservation at least a month in advance!! If not, there are some bar seats available but make sure to get there early.

Finally, I was determined and I booked out probably 2 1/2 months in advance.... And ended up going in the dead of winter. I know that I would've enjoyed my experience much more if we could've sat in the garden, that's probably an excellent vibe. I'm a spicy marg lover so I tried-new person same old mistakes-it didn't really strike me as spicy but more so smoky and I wanted spicy. We did the khao yum-it was unique, I think I would really have loved this. If it was hot out it seems like it would be very refreshing and light and more ideal for the spring and summer and like I said we went in the dead of winter. I did the beef tenderloin as my main and it was good, it wasn't too spicy, had a nice flavor, but I don't know that I would order it again. If it wasn't so hard to get a reservation, I would definitely come here more. I really liked the vibe and the aesthetic.

It is really good but quite expensive. I got to try their chicken satay, Tom kha soup, pad see ew with tofu, and Thai custard. Now, the Tom kha soup I didn't have very much of, but it was decent. Lots of coconut milk to balance the spice (not too spicy at all), but I'm just not really used to this flavor. The chicken satay, though, was really good. Very lean chicken grilled perfectly with a nice sauce. Definitely recommend. As for the mains, the pad see ew was also very tasty. Quite noodle heavy here, which I don't mind. The vegetables are fresh, and the tofu was nicely cooked. Definitely recommend as well. Finally, the Thai custard. It was also excellent. Interestingly, there's a hint of chocolate as well or something of the sort besides just coconut milk. But still, very good, very creamy, and just a nice dessert. All in all, I really like this spot. They have awesome outdoor seating if you are able to catch it (indoors is great too with all the nice paintings and such but more crowded). Portions are big, but the prices are pretty high as well. Still, I'd recommend.
