In full transparency, I will say that I was a bit put off when I last picked up my order because both the waiting area and my view into the kitchen did not appear to be very clean, and I had to ask twice for the order that I'd placed over the phone. That said, it could have been an off night, so perhaps take that with a grain of salt. It's currently not my first choice for Thai food in the area (it's a personal journey to find one's go-to takeout spots, IMO!), but still, it's a good option if you're nearby!

It had a bit of a caramelized sugar flavor reminiscent of waffles with syrup. The spicy oil splashed noodles, one of the noodle dishes on the menu, was generally lacking: some nice toppings, but not much flavor. Overall, this is a nice little place that seems to be fairly well run. I suggest going for the dim sum and giving up on expectations for anything on the menu that isn't dim sum. An American Chinese menu (with things like chicken with broccoli, egg rolls, etc. A traditional Chinese menu (with exotic to us things like chicken feet, intestines and more) and a sushi menu. There are a lot of pictures on the Chinese menu to help you get a better sense of what some of those items are. The one disappointment I had was with the crispy pickled cucumber. When they were served to us, they were basically just cucumbers. There was only a tiny bit of sauce on them. I think they hadn't had enough time in the sauce or something. Our server did bring us more sauce which helped. On one visit, my daughter had the chicken with broccoli and said it was the best chicken with broccoli she had ever had. The portion size was great, the broccoli crisp and the chicken really tender. Overall, despite being a "boring" dish, it was quite tasty. One of my favorites is the mapo tofu with pork. Packed with spice and flavor. When it is brought to the table, it is served on a pot with a flame to keep it warm. I do wish they gave you more rice. The portion is tiny and ordering extra is an additional $2. But other than that, I highly recommend a visit here! We have been coming to Sesame Inn for years, so it genuinely pains me to say that after this experience, we will not be returning. From the moment we sat down, we felt rushed and unwelcome. The interaction with our waitress immediately set an unpleasant tone for the entire meal. When we were ordering, my mother was the first person to order. Instead of simply asking for clarification when there was confusion about her order, the waitress became argumentative and dismissive. My mother ordered the lighter fare and was asked which sauce she wanted. She explained that she wasn't sure because the sauce had always simply come with the dish when she ordered it in the past. Rather than explaining the options politely, the waitress snapped at her and said, essentially, "Well, then that's not been the lighter fare. Do you want brown or white sauce?" My mother again said she wasn't sure because she had never had to specify it before. The waitress then continued arguing with her, insisting that the waitresses always ask whether she wants white or brown sauce. My mother explained that no one had ever asked her that at this location. The waitress responded that she "hears her waitresses" and that they always ask. At that point, I had to step into the conversation and explain that we had also never been asked that question at this location. We simply wanted clarification so my mother could order her meal. When I asked what the actual difference was between the sauces, the waitress's explanation was essentially that white sauce is white sauce and brown sauce is brown sauce. Thank you, but that wasn't exactly helpful. My mother was asking because she genuinely didn't know what the difference was in terms of flavor or what would come with her meal. A simple explanation such as "the white sauce is lighter and creamier, while the brown sauce is more savory" would have resolved the entire situation. Instead, we were made to feel as though asking a question was an inconvenience. My mother ultimately ordered something different based on the interaction. While the meal she received was good, she did not enjoy it nearly as much as what she had originally intended to order. What should have been a simple ordering conversation turned into an unnecessarily uncomfortable exchange. The waitress later came by our table several times and asked if we needed boxes. At one point, she noticed that I had shared some of my meal with my mother. She then told my mother that next time she would probably want the brown sauce since she seemed to like my meal. While that comment was unnecessary, we didn't make a big deal about it. She eventually brought out some brown sauce for my mother, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the problems continued. While we were boxing up our food, my mother was STILL actively eating her meal. She was chewing when the waitress began clearing the table and actually started trying to box up my mother's dinner for her. My mother had to tell her, "Please set the plate back down. I'm still eating." The waitress responded, "Oh, I didn't know. I wasn't sure if I had to help you box it up." That would have been uncomfortable enough, but immediately afterward, she reached across the table--across my mother--while my mother was bringing her fork up toward her mouth to get a plate that was sitting beside her. At that point, it was beyond feeling rushed. It felt incredibly rude, intrusive, and inconsiderate. There was absolutely no reason she needed to reach across my mother while she was actively eating. She could have simply waited a moment, asked if we were finished, or approached the table from another direction. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of basic courtesy throughout the meal. There is a huge difference between being attentive and making your customers feel like you're trying to get them out of the restaurant as quickly as possible. We never felt welcomed or relaxed during our visit. We have been loyal customers of Sesame Inn for years, and this experience was so unpleasant that we have decided we will not be returning. The food itself was not the issue--the service was. A restaurant can recover from a mediocre meal, but being made to feel uncomfortable, dismissed, rushed, and disrespected by the person serving you is something that stays with you. I sincerely hope management takes this review seriously and addresses the way customers are being treated. We weren't expecting special treatment. We simply expected basic courtesy, patience, and respect while enjoying a meal that we have enjoyed many times before.

My wife loves Panera's Passion Papaya Iced Green Tea and I had to try the Blueberry Lavender Lemonade. With only drinks, we ordered at the register and the employee was wonderful. She explained that most people say that it tastes like a Sour Patch Kid, so I would either love it or hate it. Turns out... I loved it! With just drinks, she was able to quickly serve us. Weird note, the lemonade is behind the counter, so one fill and that's it; while the tea is out by the self serve drinks so you can fill up as many times as you want. Not sure if this is based on their caffeine overload drinks, but it was okay this trip as we weren't sipping and sitting.
