Hibachi shrimp with fried rice K4. Hibachi Shrimp
    Art T.

The place change names and/or ownership so we wanted to try it. We started with the shrimp egg roll which wasn't bad not great it was already made so it wasn't like really crispy and hot. We also had the wonton soup which was really Bland actually not a lot of flavor. Also had the hibachi shrimp and it was really sweet and the rice was very Bland and not really hot so it was pre-made and dry. Probably won't go back

You also see the tank for the beer that they brew on site. It is certainly something that makes them unique as I don't think I've ever been to a thai restaurant that brewed before. We had a variety of appetizers and entrees. My kids had the chicken satay and said they really enjoyed it. The chicken was tender and not overly cooked. They asked for extra sauce (so they don't fight over it) and loved both sauces it comes with. As an FYI, they do charge for extra sauce, but it is very reasonable for the add on. Our server told us about the extra charge so it was nice to not be surprised at the end when our bill came. Overall, too, our server was knowledgeable and friendly and fun with the kids. I tried handcrafted puffs with chicken because it was something I had never had before. They were perfection. Crispy, a nice size and packed with flavor. I'd go back just for more of those puffs. My kids had chicken pad thai, my husband the panang curry and I tried the ka-prao. We all really enjoyed our dishes. They had the right amount of spice that we each ordered and you could tell the ingredients were all fresh. I didn't love mine, so I'd order something different if I went back. There was nothing wrong with it. It was tasty and as advertised, I've just had versions that I prefer over theirs. They didn't have mango sticky rice but the kids really wanted dessert, so we tried the black sticky rice with taro in coconut milk. It was interesting to try something new and everyone really enjoyed it. Overall, a great experience and I can see why it was so highly rated.

This is not a high-rent location on a gentrified main street, and many folks would drive right by based on appearances. It also wasn't very busy, and that's a shame, because Tewada is absolutely fantastic. We were met by two very down-to-earth ladies enjoying a smoke break out front, and we knew right away that they were going to take good care of us. Our server was a sweetheart and a real character...we love to meet people like her. The place is not big, but it's well-worn and very cozy, and also super festive with all of the cute Easter decorations. We started with an order of fried dumplings, and they were very tasty, presented with care, and were obviously homemade. My wife then ordered a boba tea that she really enjoyed. For entrees we both went with a curry dish. My wife ordered the red curry noodles with shrimp, and she was very happy. She is not big on spicey food and went with the lowest level of spice - she chose 3 on the (kind of odd) 3-10 scale. Although it did have a small kick to it, you should not be scared if you too don't like hot and spicy food. I picked the massaman curry with chicken at 7 on the spice scale. I can't say enough about how much I liked the dish...fantastic! And speaking as someone who does like spicy food, a 7 is about as much as I would recommend for the typical American pallet. It was HOT, but still flavorful and enjoyable. Is this place fancy? No. However, the food was authentic, homemade, and not something you'll find very often. We watched as several locals came in for take-out or just boba for the kids, and it was clear from the long conversations that this place is valued in the community. We left with a smile, talked about it all afternoon, and will definitely be back. A solid 5!

We were fortunate to find a parking spot for our vehicle in front of the restaurant, but some free street parking is supposed to be available. The employees promptly and politely served us. The menu listed appetizers (e.g., gyoza and takoyaki), soups (e.g., wonton and tom kha), noodles and rices (e.g., pad Thai, lo mein, and yakisoba), noodle soups (e.g., tom yum and duck noodle), specials (e.g., peanut chicken, steak teriyaki, and grilled mahi mahi), sushi (e.g., salmon, octopus, red snapper, bluefin tuna, and yellowtail), poke bowls, ramen, bento boxes, and desserts (e.g., mochi ice cream, taiyaki, and mango sticky rice). Here are my ratings for what we ate: Thai Iced Tea - 5 stars - My husband really enjoyed the flavors of the tea, milk, spices, and sugar. Umai Sampler - 3.5 stars - This appetizer contained 2 crab rangoon, 2 spring rolls, 2 steamed dumplings, and 2 shrimp tempura. Green Curry Noodle Soup - 3.5 stars - This soup had a large serving size and was filled with nicely cooked rice noodles and vegetables such as broccoli, bell peppers, eggplant, and basil. I did think that it could have contained more coconut milk for a sweeter taste. Furthermore, I had requested a spicy level of 5 or medium, but the waiter recorded 4 and brought me broth that tasted more like 8. Green curry is my favorite Thai food, and this one did not quite match my expectations. Umai Street Noodle - 3 stars - My husband ate this main course. He had requested a spicy level of 2, and it was that level. It contained egg noodles, BBQ pork, wonton, bok choy, bean sprouts, and scallion. He said, "That was as average as average could be." The total price was $55 plus tax and tip.
