Hands down, my new favorite Thai spot in Pgh! Small seating area, only about 2, 2 tops and 1 4 top but cozy! The owner is SO sweet and helpful with any questions! Really funny as well and makes you feel right at home. Every dish was perfectly seasoned, large portions, and cheaper prices than most Thai spots around! Was blown away by each dish, HIGHLY recommend!
Everything I said of Maenam is still so true! I'm just a little more known for always ordering the ice cream now LOL. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing spot. I can't recommend Maenam Thai enough.
Second time here. Probably the nicest person in the service industry working here! Came for the panang curry and pivoted to the chalkboard special of roasted duck curry. Blend of red and pineapple curry, the duck was cooked to perfection. While 10/10 heat still isn't super spicy to me, it honestly didn't need it given the depth of flavor.
Fantastic find. I hadn't heard of this place, but stumbled on it while I was checking out another restaurant in the area. My understanding is that the owner has worked at basically every great Thai restaurant in Pittsburgh, and the food really stood up to that background. The fresh rolls were crisp and delicious with a touch of avocado serving as an interesting twist on the traditional take. The green papaya salad was nicely presented, with lettuce off to the side in a way that it survived the ride home. The various stir fry dishes were all delicious, with a spicy level 7 being exactly the right level for my own preferences. The tom yum soup was good, with plenty of vegetables, but wasn't exactly the best I've had. One thing I particularly appreciated was that every dish was very vegetable and flavor forward, without an overwhelming quantity of fried tofu or other filler. The ordering and pickup experience was also great. We ordered takeout, and our food was ready almost exactly when it was expected to be. Everything was nicely packaged and was still in great shape by the time we got home. I also appreciated that utensils and other disposable items were an add-on item presented as an option when we picked up our order rather than just tossed in the bag by default.
This is a small but mighty restaurant serving up delicious, authentic Thai classics. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The dining room is simple and small, but well decorated with lots of live plants that add a lovely charm to the experience. I've tried the see ew chicken and the cashew chicken, both are amazing. Definitely stop by and enjoy this little gem!
Very quaint and friendly. The aromas from the kitchen are amazing! While we were eating in the restaurant, we saw at least 10 different parties arriving to pick up their takeout orders. This is always a great sign! Their pork dumplings, chive dumplings, and avocado rolls were delicious as appetizers - sauces complemented each appetizer well. Our main dishes - Pad See Ew, Thai Street Noodles, and crab fried rice were all delicious and perfectly seasoned - they take great care in making sure the spice level is what the diners want, which is wonderful. Each of our dishes was absolutely FRESH and TASTY. Nothing fell short of wonderful. Yum! We loved this cozy restaurant and shall most definitely return!
Got the pad thai here for lunch as takeout. I got it with veggies and it was delicious! So many different types of veggies (cauliflower and zucchini were nice additions!) and a really good sauce. The lunch special was a good deal with the pad thai and a spring roll. I definitely want to come back and try their curry lunch specials.
Really great Thai food! Four of us went and sat in the very tiny eat-in area. They have 8 two-tops setup inside. It looks like they do a huge take-out business. Two in our group got panang curry, another got crab fried rice and I got the Spicy basil stir fry with chicken. The vegetables in the curry and stir fry were plentiful and crisp. Sauces were seasoned well. Be careful with the spice level requests. The scale is 1 to 10. I picked a 5 and I wouldn't have wanted to go much higher than that. It was spicy! Our server was delightful but I did not get their name.

Bell was absolutely delightful and took great care of us, making sure we had everything we needed and were happy with our food. And the food... WOW. I eat a lot of Thai and this was hands down the best I've ever had. Fresh tasting, solid portions, and you can tell they don't skimp on quality. Prices very reasonable too!
We had a great first experience at this small Thai restaurant, which is primarily a takeout spot. However, they do have four small tables for two. Service is very friendly and efficient. they have a large menu, and everything sounded good, but we settled on Tom Yum soup with chicken, my husband got spicy eggplant with chicken, and I got a green curry with shrimp, and we split the crispy tofu appetizer. My husband enjoyed the soup except the chicken that was in the soup was slightly overcooked. The eggplant with chicken was delicious and it was a huge portion. The dishes come with a side bowl of white rice. My curry with shrimp was quite flavorful and had a lot of different vegetables in it, including some eggplant in there as well. I love Japanese eggplant. We both really enjoyed the crispy tofu and it comes with kind of a sweet Thai chili sauce with peanuts on top, which was quite tasty for dipping. I ended up taking half of my Curry home and it filled the entire takeout container. They did tons of takeout business while we were seated eating inside. I would recommend that if you were planning to eat there and had more than two people that you call ahead and make sure that they can accommodate you given how small the places and the limited tables. we found easy street parking right out front. we chose this restaurant due to proximity to Moondog's just down the block where we were going to hear music. I would definitely eat there again.

Wow! Finally some REALLY GOOD Thai food in Pittsburgh! Not Fancy, Just GREAT FOOD! Lot of flavor here. We had the Green Curry, Mango Salad w/Chicken. Tom-Yum Noodle w/Chicken and Chicken Satay! It appears that all of their dishes comes with all protein options including Tofu. Great Vegan Place. Limited seating I think they had 4-5 tables including a small one out front on sidewalk. We got there early, which paid off, otherwise we would have had to wait for a table. read more

Tiny place right on Main Street thru Blawnox. Mostly street parking. Lite Asian pop music playing. Pretty brightly lit. Overall, seems they do lots of takeout business. Place has four 2 person tables but can move them around. Water is great! Mango salad w chicken Medium spicy is low spicy to me, definitely taste the fish sauce, chicken little bit on tough side but good. mango is great, in season now, sliced tomatoes a nice kick. 8/10 Steamed dumpling- actually shu Mai, good by itself but really good with the dipping sauce, 8 or 9/10 Fish dish- was imagining a whole fish but maybe that's not popular in the 'Burgh, so it's fish pieces. Everything cooked well, green beans onions peppers. Didn't get much basil flavor at first, but hit me later. Little too salty, 7/10 Green curry with chicken, mild. Very nice flavor. Super good over the white rice. 9/10 We've been to Thailand and have been to multiple Thai places in the SF Bay Area and this place ranks up there with the best and original Thai flavors. Would not hesitate to come in again when in the area. Highly suggested. read more
Second visit after way too long. This is a tiny four table restaurant where you dine amongst the potted plants as takeout orders are continuously being picked up by their dedicated clientele. We had the spring rolls, pork noodle soup, and Panang curry. All were good choices. Wonder now what we missed. Will be going back real soon this time. Sorry we waited so long to return. read more

Really great Thai food! Four of us went and sat in the very tiny eat-in area. They have 8 two-tops setup inside. It looks like they do a huge take-out business. Two in our group got panang curry, another got crab fried rice and I got the Spicy basil stir fry with chicken. The vegetables in the curry and stir fry were plentiful and crisp. Sauces were seasoned well. Be careful with the spice level requests. The scale is 1 to 10. I picked a 5 and I wouldn't have wanted to go much higher than that. It was spicy! Our server was delightful but I did not get their name. read more

Easily the worst Thai food I've ever had. Chicken was cooked to a jerky like texture. Vegetable Tom kha soup only had mushrooms in it. The dumplings we got were unspeakably awful, I literally had to spit it out before I started gagging. Awful. Stay away. read more
I'll be back soon for the panang curry. I'm always looking for a vegetable-heavy curry without too much spice, and the tofu panang packed with zucchini, broccoli, carrots, and bell peppers hit the spot better than anywhere else I've tried. The 3 spice level was perfect for my embarrassingly Midwestern palate- there's enough of a kick to enjoy it without needing to search for milk. The takeout was packaged carefully with a mind toward the food making the drive home without getting soggy. Definitely worth the delivery fee or drive over the river! read more

Very flavorful, couldn't stop even though I was full. I don't usually get the soups. Mainly the curry dishes. I guess I'll have to try the other ones. Ate here a few times. Staff has always been very polite and pleasant. read more

Delicious. Well made. We had the red curry: Tons of vegetables (egg plant, peppers, sprouts carrots, chicken). Tasted perfect. Tom Yum: delicious avocado rolls: mint, veges, Super nice owners. Great prices. Highly recommended. read more

Delicious little place. We ordered pick up and it was ready very quickly. Super fresh and tasted amazing. The crab Rangoon a could use a bit more crab but the tom kha soup was Devine. Seems to be a favorite with locals, and I see why! read more

It's a nice hole in the wall place. I'd recommend if you were in Blawnox, but other than that, it's pretty forgettable. I ordered the Pad Thai with tofu, fried tofu bites, spring rolls, and a Thai iced tea. The food is a bit more expensive than competitors such as Smiling Banana Leaf. I thought the Thai iced tea was excellent. Good size and lots of flavor. It's not just all sweetness; you can truly taste the tea blend. When it comes to the main dish, the Pad Thai, I was a bit disappointed. The portion is excellent. I was surprised by how heavy the dish was when I picked it up. To add to that, the tofu soaked up the sauce very well and was overall quite tasty. However, the flavor of the noodles was unexpected. It had too many scallions which lead to an unpleasant oniony flavor to the noodles. The dish was also on the oily side. I enjoyed the spring rolls. Portion is okay and the sauce is standard, maybe a bit on the spicier side. They are packed with vegetables. Personally, I would not recommend the fried tofu appetizer. The tofu on its own is extremely bland; tastes like you are eating rubber. Even when you try smothering it in the tasty peanut sauce, it's still not very good. Overall, I don't think I'll return here, for there are many genuinely great Thai restaurants in Pittsburgh. Some elements, like the Thai Iced tea and spring rolls, were quite good. The Pad Thai and tofu appetizer left much to be desired. read more
It takes me 45 minutes to get here. I barely make it in before closing time. I have tried 7 different dishes in 2 visits. Bottom line verdict up front: best Thai in town hands down. Crab rangoons: golden crunch outside, a hardier crab cream cheese inside. Papaya Salad: fresh, crisp and refreshing however I wish they would shred it more finely. Careful on spice as this one is more susceptible to spice levels! Fried Tilapia - this is normally topped with their house special curry type sauce but I prefer it on the side to prevent sogginess. Dip when necessary. Very good sauce and decent fish portions. Drunken noodles with Beef! Hot steaming plate made to order! Flat Rice noodles are soft, chewy and silky in your mouth. Thai Tea - finally a place that puts less emphasis on type II diabetes sweet! Just enough sweet and smoothness here. Crab Fried Rice. Nice portions of crab and actually moist and delicious. Highly recommended when GOOD Thai is warranted. read more
Rick Sebak has recommended this place many times, but I finally got here, and it even exceeded all expectations. Everything was prepared fresh and the spices were perfect. Our server was very helpful and attentive. We appreciated the excellent service. It's a small dining room, but rather cute. Everything was deliciously prepared, and our final bill was especially reasonable. We enjoyed meeting the owner/chef, and we have been back several times. They are continually adding new dishes. They recently added Monday dining, which works great, because other places are usually closed. But last Monday, they served the absolute best Mango and Sticky Rice that I have ever tasted. The Mango was perfectly ripe and flavorful, and the toasted seed topping completed this very traditional presentation. read more

There are a few places that make you smile as soon as you walk in, but this place it it. From the inviting and vibrant decor to the incredibly sweet and lovely staff, Maenam Thai rejuvenates you through both their service and, as you'll read, their amazing food. Food: The panang curry @ 3/5 could be the best curry I've ever had. A. amazing mix of sweet and spicy with a gorgeous creamy and silky texture. We were so excited when we had leftovers and let me tell you, it still hits the spot reheated. 10/10 Normally I don't try the Thai iced tea because they're so sweet, but after coming from playing tennis, it just called to me. Their Thai iced tea does not disappoint at all, it's not overly sweet but still so addicting and delicious. 9/10 I didn't really try the pad see ew that you see, so I couldn't give it a fair rating. read more
