Wei Lai Dim Sum restaurant's menu lists appetizers such as vegetable spring roll, cold dishes such as beef tripe and seaweed salad, dim sum in flavors such as shrimp and pork, dumplings in flavors such as pork-mushrooms and chicken-corn, bao in flavors such as pork and chicken feet, many soups, many noodles, some rice dishes, desserts such as taro ball, and non-alcoholic beverages. In the past several months, we have eaten at this restaurant three times. First, we tried the dim sum, dumplings, and bao. The flavors were OK, and we ended up eating about half of the foods (3 stars). During our next visit, we ate the crab rangoon (4.5 stars), pancake beef rolls (5 stars), braised beef noodle soup (5 stars), shrimp wonton noodle soup (4 stars), and coconut milk cake (4.5 stars). In our most recent visit, we ate the mango milk tea (4.5 stars), egg tarts (5 stars), braised beef over rice (4 stars), and shrimp wonton noodle soup (2 stars, broth needs more flavor).

I was so excited to try this place and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing and authentic. I think the noodles were hand pulled given their texture. It's had to find those here. Pan friend bao was juicy, crispy and flavorful. Soup dumplings were good too! Our server was incredibly sweet and our food was came out quickly. The ambiance is cute.

This is located close to the convention center so we went there for lunch during the PHS flower show. Small space but we got a table quickly and enjoyed authentic Dim Sum. Service was quick and they offer a discount for cash.

I love dim sum so I was so excited to find this place! They have so many menu options I got a couple different things and truly wished I had multiple stomachs so I could have tried their other dishes! The interior had lots of space to sit, clean and the ladies working were attentive as soon as we walked in. We got this dim sum sampler dish which was my favorite, soup dumplings, this sweet yolk steamed bao buns, and sesame balls. I also tried one their boba tea too. They were all delicious and good quality.

We had a wonderful dinner Saturday night. We had never been here but we will be back! We had the Saturday special of pork and it was so delicious. We also had four different wontons and my favorite by far was the shrimp. We also ordered late the bbq pork bao buns. They were so tasty! We can not wait to go back and get more

Had the opportunity to try Wei Lai today. We drive up - Ample parking Walk in and we were immediately greeted by a lovely lady who sat us quickly (May) The staff makes you feel welcome So clean and modern Menus up as we started to review all the options they offer. We opted for shredded chicken over rice - crab Rangoon and I had a brown sugar boba tea. We were pleasantly surprised with how it tasted ( love the pickled radishes). The staff is friendly- the food delicious... give them a try - we will when back in the area!

Stopped at GNC McIntyre Square and saw some new food options. Outside, on the windows, you can peruse the menu. The restaurant seating is plain but I wasn't there for the decor. When entering, the photographs from the menu are on a touch screen for takeout odering. I didn't wait long for my large order of shrimp wonton soup, dumplings, and spring rolls. I plan on eating the takeout for days. I grazed tasting everything. The crystal shrimp dumpling was by far my favorite dumpling. The shrimp wonton soup with rice noodles is a HUGE portion. The colander to keep the broth clear and noodles/dumplings firm was really cool. Lots of parking. I will be back to try other items.

We came on a Sunday & had the special with duck & pork. All their soup & platter portions are huge! Very authentic dim sum. We had the crystal shrimp dumplings (ha gao), crispy tofu, & chicken noodle soup too. Took lots of leftovers home. Their bubble tea is awesome! We'll be back.

Dim Sum is unknown around these parts. A particular place I tried not too long ago did not get anywhere close to the mark. I used to frequent this exact place when it was Ting's Kitchen and unfortunately the Taiwanese went downhill since the original owner left. The good news is that Wei Lai is a hit for me. They are new and only opened last month and despite that, they have been impressive. Dim Sum items ordered: Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, Ha Cao or Har Gow, is shrimp wrapped in a translucent skin and steamed to perfection. Shrimp inside was juicy and the wrapper had just enough elasticity when you bite in. Siu Mai or Shu mai dumplings, is mushroom, pork and shrimp wrapped in yellow wonton wrapping open faced. It came out steaming hot, super juicy and slightly fatty. The percentage of fat plays a big role in the bite and they've got it down pat. Fried Taro Balls. The outer texture is crispy but lacks the traditional flaky, airy, honeycomb crust. It appears that were looking to make the interior filing more of a dessert and not as savory. Still good. Other items: Pork Slider - Bao bun with a small bit of picked mustard greens and pork belly. Good flavor but needs the other toppings like cilantro and chopped salty sweet peanuts and it would be even better! Spicy Wontons - This a almost a meal in itself. Wontons, Bok Choy, glass noodles in a spicy, numbing sauce that's delish. I like the way they work their wontons where it isn't too doughy. Spiced Beef Tendon. Super soft but slightly on the saltier side. I threw it in with my wonton noodle soup and it balanced out. Wonton Noodle Soup. Same Wonton used in the spicy wonton dish. They make their own noodles in-house but I prefer the taiwanese egg noodles (like chow mein) for this application. On the weekend, we headed back to try the weekend special. The roast duck and char siu. This is also another non-existent food I wish we had here in PGH. Alas, they nailed it and sealed the deal for me! I also need to mention that the servers and staff have been extremely nice and takea good care of their customers!

This place has the most authentic dim sum and Cantonese food in Pittsburgh! I grew up eating this food so it makes me happy I can find it in town now! The staff here is so nice and they make awesome recommendations. They are also so passionate about making good food! This place gets really busy on the weekends, especially during brunch time (when people normally have dim sum). They sold out of a lot of stuff this weekend. There is a lot of seating in here too. When we went there was a line at the door. There is a machine in the front to order from as well. They make their dimsum and noodles by hand! On weekends, they have also specials like Cheung fun (rice noodles with things like shrimp and pork inside) and Chinese bbq. Their dumplings are all so so fresh. I loved their siu mai. The shrimp has a bounciness to it. Their soup dumplings are also very very good. Love that they serve it with vinegar since that's the proper way to eat them. I accidentally ordered the pork bao instead of the char siu bao but they were good too! The beef pancake rolls were so delicious too. The beef is seasoned perfectly. Definitely try the fried glutinous dumplings since they're a fried mochi with pork and dried shrimp inside and it's so so good here. They make their noodles in house. The beef and beef tendon noodle soup is legitimately so authentic and good. I love their fresh noodles and the soup is so rich. I brought some home with me and the soup literally congealed into jelly so you know that it's good broth. We also love the Dan Dan noodles that bring the heat. They have desserts like egg custard buns and coconut pudding. The coconut pudding is soooo good. Definitely recommend it. It tastes like childhood. I saw that they also have other dim sum dishes like chicken feet that looked good. Will definitely come back for their handmade steamed buns next time! Definitely try this spot if you want authentic dim sum and Cantonese food!

Came here decided to try this place for lunch. Food was ok wasn't what I expected. Service wasn't that great as well. Ambience is quiet .. This place is ok for a quick bite of dim sum..

I have to come back for Dim Sum! Made the rookie mistake of not trying any of their handmade dim sum, so I will be back here with my wife for sure! But I got minced pork over rice and a Taro milk tea and it was AMAZING! The owners were very nice and I couldn't recommend this place enough!

We stopped by the new Wei Lai in McIntyre Square for dinner the other night and we were completely blown away by how good everything was!! My favorites were the Taiwanese sticky rice, fried crystal dumplings, egg tarts, homemade pork rice soup, and pancake beef rolls but you truly cannot go wrong with anything here. Our service was pretty fast which was great because I was starving. The interior is very no frills and tbh the typos on the menu made it feel more authentic. I'm already planning to go back on a weekend so that I can try their weekend only specials like their roast platter with pork and duck and their cheung fen. I'm so so happy that Pittsburgh is finally getting a larger variety of Asian restaurants and Wei Lai is a fantastic addition!

Cantonese BBQ pork was flavorful and tender. A must try.

They have a series of vegetarian appetizers, but that's not their focus. In terms of the overall experience, the staff is very friendly and on top of things. We ordered takeout, but the online ordering site didn't give us a confirmation of our order. A quick call to the restaurant confirmed that everything was received and already in process. In terms of the food, the wood ear mushrooms and tofu skins was a clear winner. The broccoli was fine, but I would have preferred Chinese broccoli or watercress if they were available. The five spiced eggplant was fine: steamed to a custard-like level of softness, then paired with a salty sauce and served cold. The dan dan noodles were probably best suited for a dine-in experience and didn't really travel well. My partner tells me that the stuffed pork buns were good, but the solid piece of pork in the center was less optimal than something shredded or thinned out with some vegetable matter. All told, this was a good experience. The vegetarian appetizers were good but not exceptional. The various noodle and bun dishes were very nicely crafted. The hand made noodles were a particularly nice touch, with a lot more flavor and texture than I would have ever expected. If I have any requests, it would be for more vegetable centric noodle options.

It seemed to attract a lot of nearby people on their lunch breaks as well as students. I went in late December so it wasn't too busy and I found parking around the corner. I was seated and browsed through the menu. I ended up ordering: - Warm HK milk tea: I found this overly sweet overwhelming the milk tea - Pork with egg: This was under the HK menu with the char siu, crispy duck, and chicken option. What I got was not what I was expecting (char siu and boiled egg). The plate was more egg drop soup with pork and peas. It also had a sweet flavor. - Dim sum for one: Sui mai was decent. Har gao was off. They must have put something meant for the dessert dumpling into it. Coconut didn't have the mochi consistency I was expecting. It was very soft, not at all sticky or chewy. Staff was really nice. I just didn't enjoy my meal, unfortunately.

It's also at a decent price, sometimes I've seen soup dumplings for more than $15 which is ridiculous. It had some good flavor, and wasn't easy to rip the skin. After my most recent order, I'm no longer concerned. The space itself is nicely presented and spacious, providing enough room to ensure tables don't feel too dense or on top of one another. We ordered takeout this time, and the online ordering experience was generally good (but could be improved). Our order was very nicely packaged to survive the trip home. The front of house staff were very kind and helpful, but they also seemed to be stretched a little thin. In terms of the food, everything was packed with flavor and texture. I particularly enjoy the Sichuan pickled vegetables, which tend to be a combination of pickled radish and tiny peppers with some heat coming from dried pepper flakes. The spicy wood ear mushroom is another nice appetizer. We ordered several different items, but the squid in hot and spicy pot really stood out. Our dish didn't match the photos on the ordering page, but I would argue that the result was even better. A nice balance of spice and dried hot peppers, without being overwhelming. A nice crunch from some sliced taro root. A nice texture from both squid and fish cakes. The quick fried cabbage and sautéed snow pea leaves were both excellent pairings and added some vegetable matter. All told, this continues to be an excellent destination. Highly recommended for both dine-in and take-out.
