I got two rolls from Mola bc I heard good things about this sushi place. It's located inside Novo Asian Food Hall toward the back wall. Lots of seating and tables around. Good luck finding street parking, the strip is usu a very busy place. I got the Eel Avocado Almonds CR and Crispy Spicy Tuna CR (total was about $24). They do serve apps and drinks along with other Japanese food like poke bowls. The eel avo was good but could've had more eel sauce. Presented neatly, but could've had more flavor? I took a gamble on what the crispy spicy tuna roll could've been like but it was not what I expected. The crispy crunch came from those fried balls scattered all over. I personally was not a fan. It's been a minute since I've reviewed Mola but it's honestly my favorite sushi spot in town that's on my regular rotation. Their sushi rolls just always hit and the seasoned rice really does make a difference. I like the spicy salmon roll and the California. Their wasabi and ginger is my favorite too since it tastes real and actually good. I also recommend their bao buns, the fried chicken one always hits. I did order the spicy edamame today and it wasn't my favorite since I'm not huge on sesame oil. Love that you can also get other Japanese dishes here like curry and katsu. We chose the least expensive tier which was $125 a person and comes with appetizers for the table, a dessert that everyone can pick individually, and at least 13 courses and you get pick between wagyu and uni for one of the courses. Each course was better than the last and we ended up with 16 courses which was more than enough food! The size of the rolls it's good for their price and the fish is good quality, not slimy or anything weird like I've experienced elsewhere. I went there on May 8 evening, made a reservation for 2 at 7.15 pm. We drove 20 mins there and showed up on time. However, the staff at the front desk said the tables were full and let us wait by the gate, even though we see two tables were vacant for the whole waiting time. We waited for 40 mins and still the staff did not let us get seated. We said we wanna take the vacant table but she rejected, saying that these are tables for a group of 4, even though some other 4-guest tables are serving 2. I deeply feel they are discriminating us as Asian and white guests. As other reviews pointed out, obviously the restaurant got more popular than it used to be and the staff there probably felt spoiled and got to be more aggressive, "refuse provide services to anyone they want". Yes, you can refuse to provide service and do not honor a reservation, but what I can say is, Shame on MOLA. Shame on the staff working there, especially the rude front desk. read more
