Friendly service and even delivered to our table. Huge sushi rolls. One would have been enough for dinner. I was hungry, but now we know. Good process and outdoor seating available. Not much seating, but enough for a few people to eat there at a time and there's plenty of bench seating not far from the tables too.
I have been coming to No. 1 Sushi Sushi for 10+ years, and they never disappoint. This is one of the most affordable sushi places in Pittsburgh, and all of the ingredients are still so fresh. The staff is always friendly and helpful. It's great for a quick meal with the walk up counter, and the food always comes out quick too.
This isn't a bad spot for a quick lunch in the city! Like the other reviews say, there isn't much seating inside so you're better off ordering the food as takeout. Also please keep in mind if you're ordering sushi that it ONLY comes with soy sauce. You'll have to order the other sauces separately if you wanted them with your sushi. The green monster roll, avocado&cumber roll, and edamame were very filling for a lunch! The edamame were cooked really well! The sushi didn't taste bad, and their size was good, but I've also had better sushi in other places where the rolls didn't fall apart. Overall not a horrible spot in the city though. The price to proportion of everything is good.
Stopped in during my lunch break and the lunch special was good. Not the best sushi I've ever had, but solid for a quick lunch and the order was ready right on time. It hit the spot and worked perfectly for a fast meal in the middle of the day.
SUSHI Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon Rolls - both the rules were alright. They had sriracha and spicy Mayo drizzled on top. As far as roll construction, it was a bit less on the tight side so the rolls came apart. It wasn't really spicy at all for the spicy tuna or salmon. Fish is pretty alright quality. Pretty basic, decent roll. VIBES This place is very much so a grab and go. There is some seating available that consists of two high tables and some stools along the wall. I went around 1 PM on a Wednesday and it was packed with people coming in and out to pick up orders and people sitting and waiting for their sushi. SERVICE Service was alright. Quick to get orders out but not too much interaction
It's a cute little shop, they move quick so you can be in and out or you can dine in. The prices are really good to be located in a downtown area. -- I'm visiting for work. You'll see on the pic of the container what I ordered. I really wanted to enjoy it, but I feel like because they are so quick they didn't handle my food with care. The sushi was falling apart as I was picking it up. It was like the rice was not sticking together and the seaweed was like easily punctured so when I picked it up it would smash and break apart. The yummy yum was okay, but I'm not a fan of imitation crab meat. Which ironically, the lam back had real crab meat and it was fishy. So crazy right. See pics. I feel like I'd go back, because of the price but I'd need them to fix my issue. I do not like messy food. I saw someone else's look better than mine, so idk if it's based on the type of roll or what.
Delicious and affordable! So many rolls to choose from. Order takes max 10 minutes, quick in and out establishment. Gyozas were tasty and the Miami & Volcano roll were great. As someone else mentioned the rolls do fall apart but that didn't bother me much.

I ordered take out and wasn't impressed. Good value for the price but not great quality sushi. You get what you pay for! They do have some fun specialty rolls though.
I stopped by yesterday to grab a quick lunch for me and a friend. It's a small spot with not a lot of seating (I counted 10 seats) that does a brisk takeout business. I ordered three specialty rolls for me and a friend and the food came out fairly quickly. The sushi itself was pretty good and was about $41 for three specialty rolls before tip. I would definitely come back and order again!
Cute spot in market square that I never knew existed until my friend mentioned it! It's down a side street so it's easy to miss, but definitely not something you'd want to miss out on! The sushi was DELICIOUS! Prepared super quickly and for a reasonable price. The person who took my order was polite and did a great job taking orders. I will definitely be back again, and I 100% recommend you get their shrimp tempura roll!!
They made my roll really fast! It was good, just a basic California roll. The staff is nice. The shop is kind of small but it does have seating.

Still one of the best places to get sushi in the city. They still have their lunch specials, but due to product costs, the green salad is no longer a side option. It's now only the seaweed salad or miso soup. You can still purchase the green salad for an upcharge. They get very busy during lunch time, but they move quick and I've never waited for more than 15-20 min for my food. The service is also always great. Staff are very friendly. It's definitely more of a takeaway spot but they do have a few indoor and outdoor tables to eat at. read more

I read the reviews and saw they were pretty mixed. But tried it anyway. I got the crab roll and playboy roll with the seaweed salad as take out. The seaweed salad is good. Like anywhere else. Little bit of heat but not hot. The rolls were like others said. The rice is heavy and distributed unevenly. The crab roll didn't have a lot of flavor. You will need the soy sauce. They are pretty skimpy on until sauces. The playboy roll is ok. The tempura on the shrimp is heavy and at times was thicker than the shrimp. Sauce was skimpy. Overall, average. Probably won't try again. read more

I've gotten sushi and sashimi from here multiple times through delivery apps. The first two times, it was great. However, this is now the second time I've had a less than satisfactory experience. The first time my friend and I were very ill within 2 hours of eating our rolls. We concluded that it was because of the rice considering she got a veg roll and no raw fish. This time, the sashimi that I ordered was terrible. It was thrown into a styrofoam container and looked terrible. Additionally, the cut on the fish is terrible. It is incredibly inconsistent and makes eating the sashimi and unpleasant experience. For example, some parts of the salmon are see through, while others are far thicker. This is indicative of an inexperienced or careless chef. They also shorted me one border of hamachi which is not cool. Overall, I got an unpleasant fishy smell when opening my box, the cut was ridiculously bad, and the quality of the fish today was subpar. Used to be my favorite place for sashimi, but has consistently gone down hill. I will not be returning and I will warn others to say away. read more
I can't say enough about their sushi! It's so good! There are many options to choose from, both common American styles as well as more traditional types of sushi. All are very flavorful and tasty. I love the Philadelphia roll, but the others are also worth trying. The rolls are nice and big with about eight pieces each, so I feel full with even one roll. I'm amazed how quickly they get orders ready. The staff is efficient and very polite. They do such a great job! The shop itself is quite small and easy to miss, which makes it ideal for takeout. It's especially fun during warmer seasons because you can take your food just a few feet away to Market Square and feast at one of the tables there. You can also eat in the restaurant itself, it's just small. But they do a great job keeping it clean and tidy, so you're sure to feel comfortable dining in. All in all, I very much recommend stopping by here anytime you're visiting Market Square! read more

I'm only in Pittsburgh for 3 days and I've had this place twice. It's actually so great and so affordable and quick. I love everything about it. I got the pink lady and volcano rolls and a yellowtail scallion roll. Everything was so good. I wish I had a go to spot for this price and quality close to me. I'll miss No. 1 Sushi Sushi! read more

HOLY CRAP! This was so incredibly good. I loved how straight forward this hole-in-the-wall place was. Located on an incredibly bustling street, I can see why they're so successful. Their prices are INSANELY cheap! I haven't seen sushi this cheap since 5 years before COVID. While it isn't the highest quality of raw seafood, it sure isn't the lowest! For the price, this place cannot be beat. I was impressed by the miso soup that came with our combo. It was delicious and didn't taste powdery like most places do. The gyozas were steamed and had so much flavor. At other places, gyozas are generally $1-$1.50/gyoza but not here! For $4.95/6 pieces, is a great deal! If you're looking for a quick, good quality, and easy lunch, this is the place! We had received our food within 10 minutes of stepping into the place. The lady at the counterpart was helpful in explaining what we got and recommended some other things that we'll have to try the next time we go back. If I had this place next to me when I was still in college, I would've came to this place everyday! read more

i am a little disappointed by this place. The reviews made it seem promising, but maybe it was too good to be true. I will start by saying that this place is definitely very very very casual. You will not have any luck getting a table. This is definitely a take out only spot (for me at least). The rolls were very affordable. I ordered 4 rolls. I was not impressed with their special rolls the ratios were very very off. The rice and cucumber overpowered the fish which was disappointing. Their basic rolls were my favorite. Despite my disappointment, I will say that if you are looking for a relaxed lighter quick eats spot then this is the place for you. Their sashimi and basic rolls are a must and everything else is not worth it. read more
Great prices for large rolls. Delivery review. I ordered 2 rolls via DD: Green Monster Roll: this thing was huge! Packed with seaweed on top and filled with great veggies. I love getting vegetable rolls that have pickled veggies in them to offset a spicy roll. Dynamite Roll: this was definitely spicy. It came with pickled jalapeños on top, plus 2 spicy sauces. It was also super huge and filled. The rolls came packaged separately, filling a half plate sized to-go container. They also have gluten-free soy sauce that they label if you ask for it. Next time: I'd try a few other rolls! Based on the size of my rolls, I wonder what their Big Rolls are like?? read more

Really solid sushi right in the heart of the Golden Triangle downtown area. They have all of the standard sushi offerings and even through in a miso soup with some of their lunch specials. The eat-in area is a couple barstools off to one side of the stores but I get the sense that this place is really more of a grab and go (even when it's not Covid). Today I ordered a spicy crab roll and an avacado/eel roll. Both were quite good! Lots of filling in the rolls and generous portion of ginger and wasabi too. Next time I'm in Market Square with a sushi hankering I'll definitely be stopping back in. read more

This place is perfect for a quick and affordable lunch, especially if you work Downtown! I have been going here for years since I discovered it while at Point Park. Their daily specials cannot be beat for sushi. The shop itself is very small, and had a few stools inside, and a couple sidewalk tables outside. The sushi is fresh and the salads and miso soup are great too. I don't think I have ever ordered anything other than sushi, salad, or miso soup. I used to get their California Rolls, which are huge, before I saw how their raw fish looked. I looked at other photos on Yelp and heard what other people ordered, and thought it must be good quality. I love the salmon avocado roll, Yummy roll, and spicy tuna roll. The salad has fresh veggies and ginger dressing. The most recent lunch special I ordered was a spicy salmon roll and a yummy roll with a salad or soup for $12.99. The rolls were big and I couldn't finish my salad I was so full. The line is out the door at lunch time even though they make the sushi so quickly! They have a great business! I highly recommend this place for lunch! Note: The only negative thing about this place is that they don't have a restroom which can be inconvenient if you decide to dine in. read more

I read the reviews and the good ones do not do this lil place Justice. Once I found it so ate there everyday. Do yourself a favor and head on over. I did pick up and it was easy. They were very nice and the sushi.... WOW! Fresh and tasty. I figured I was close enough to the River that I could use it for bait if it was bad. I took a chance and it paid off. My first and last time having sushi from this establishment. The service was fast. The lil restaurant was also very educational with all different sushi on the walll. But when I opened the box and started a video and found a hair during my recording. Changed my whole outlook no gloves or hair nets were used. read more

I've been here at least 5 times and have ordered the same special each time - combo #2. It is the best bang for your buck 11.99 - gets you 16 made to order rolls with either a side salad, a seaweed salad or miso soup. While I'm not a die hard sushi person, I do really enjoy coming here and will continue to get this combo! It's quick, handmade and fresh! Really yummy! The restaurant is small so big parties probably wouldn't work but it's perfect for take out and market square is right outside, in walking distance. read more
I can't recommend this sushi place enough. I first went here last week when I needed rice for my new iPhone- I had dropped it in the bath tub. I couldn't find a store open, or a restaurant willing to let me buy some rice. Any place I found with rice had the pouch kind that had already been partially cooked. When I entered #1 sushi the lady working the register was so sweet and kind about my situation- the owner had been out front sweeping the entrance, the lady working the register asked if she could give me any rice- the owner immediately said yes. I had my phone in a zip lock and they filled the bag- when I went to pay, they wouldn't even take payment. I told them I would be back and would sing their praises. I was talking to the receptionist at my hotel about the phone incident and the kindness of this sushi place. They asked which place- I gave them some to go menus- and she said that this place has the best sushi and the kindest employees. I can't agree more. She also said she would give the menus out when people asked her for local restaurant suggestions I'm back in town today- and was excited to get some sushi rolls. I had taken a to go menu with me so I could make my decisions. I went with the green monster and the veggie lover roll- both are delicious. I have so much left- I can have a bit more tonight, then enjoy the rest on my flight tomorrow. The service today was welcoming and efficient. They were very busy with take away orders as well as walk ins. They have tons of regulars. I ordered my rolls from the owner today- I wanted to thank her in person for her kindness last week. The same lady from last week was working the second register- they both remembered me and seemed genuinely to care that the rice trick worked, and my phone was working fine. I took my rolls over to the tables at the farmers market where I could enjoy my yummy rolls while listening to the live music. I would be hard pressed to name a favorite between the 2 rolls. They were both great- and I liked the seaweed topping on the green monster. I will be recommending this place, and look forward to eating here when I'm back in town.
