We decided to try Tony C's for a date night and left completely disappointed with the place. But any evening out with my beautiful wife is a good night out... I'll start out by saying that the food was actually pretty good. So, why just 2 stars? I suppose the service and atmosphere could have been worse, but it would be hard to imagine how. We were seated at a dirty table in the bar and it took over 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge that we were there (and it wasn't even OUR server who eventually came over). The bar area was WAY too small - people standing at the bar were up against our table (come on...personal space, people!) and there was little room for people to walk through. We ordered wine, an appetizer, and waters but the waters didn't come and no plates for the appetizer. Having had enough we ordered a pizza to go and got out of there as fast as we could. There was no acknowledgement from our server or a manager that things weren't going so well. On our way home we kept talking about how much we didn't like that place - and that rarely happens!! Ate here last night. The garlic knots were awesome and on happy hour very cheap! Me and the hubby split a pizza (more than enough for us!) and it was awesome! The waitress didn't do such a good job keeping our drinks full and at $2.75 each they should of been. Am I the only one that thinks its crazy when places charge over $2 for a fountain drink?! Even though it's a 2 star review, let's start with the good. The good: nice ambiance, great addition to the Avery Ranch area, food was good, Happy Hour deal was a good value. The bad: service, service, service. And doesn't bad service always ruin the experience? I was so bummed. Here's what happened - we went at 6pm last Friday night, during HH. I know, I know, it's busy and expect slow service. Well, looooooong story short, we sat at a high table in the bar area, made dinner out of a few appetizers, and proceeded to wait 45 minutes to get any of them! I was amazed. And then, we were still missing one (the mozzarella). We asked, waited 10 minutes, flagged down someone again and asked. We had to leave at 7:20, and got the mozzarella to go - wtf? An HOUR for an appetizer? There's busy on a Friday and then there's poor management/bad service. We took the app home but I knew it wouldn't be good - especially in a closed container. It's 4:15am when I'm writing this and I'm pissed. I've enjoyed Tony C's food several times. In fact, I ate there last night for a special occasion. Up until 2 hours ago, I would give them four stars. No. Never will they get four stars after tonight. Tony C's is located in a strip mall that has homes along the back and one side. Our home is directly behind Tony C's; probably 600 feet away. Once again, they are power washing something. This has got to be the fourth time in the last year and a half that I've lived here and, once again, I am not getting any sleep because they are power washing after midnight and their generator is so loud, it's keeping me awake. The pizza is delicious! The manager is awful . Not friendly , or accommodating . I called with a question I felt like I was getting attitude, from both hostess and manager. My first time here was exceptional. Tyrone was our waiter and he had such good vibes. He was friendly, informative and just enough of a "waiter" where you didn't feel smothered. Panache. If I had to choose just one word to describe Tony C's, that word would be panache. I went to Tony C's for the first time tonight, with a group of friends, and this place is going to be a regular spot for me. The food was very good, and half price bottles of wine on Wednesday made tonight a winner. The place was a bit loud, and they got a little busy. What would have otherwise been exceptional service and a five star rating was tainted by the wait staff staring at us while they had people waiting for tables. seth had excellent service it was my first time and he had explained how they used a certain type of coal, and let me and my family see how it should be for a first time customer at this restaurant. I was quite impressed with Tony C's. We started off with calamari and my favorite, sausage and peppers. The calamari was lightly fried in a golden mix of ingredients, but the marinara and the aioli were perfect for dipping each piece. Now, the sausage and peppers came out on a fancy rectangular plate positioned as if the "presentation" meant more than the taste. Hell No! This dish was great as the sausage had a nice crisp to the bite followed by sweet and spicy flavors. It had pan fried peppers with a good heaping of some of the best marinara sauce in Austin. The pizza tasted great with a nice dough consistency and fresh ingredients to round off the taste of an Italian brick oven pie. Tony C's is worth a return visit. read more

The lasagna at this restaurant is crazy good. Very ample portion as well. We had perfectly fried calamari as an appetizer and I was full half way thru my lasagna. The server offered me a take out and I happily accepted. My friend had eggplant parmesan. He said it was delicious, and he, being a huge guy, finished his plate mopping up the sauce with the fabulous garlic knots. Yum! I'll be back. I've got to try more items on their extensive menu. My husband and I went to Tony C's for a Friday night date night. They just opened in our neighborhood and we were curious to try their pizza. The wait staff and hostesses were all very attentive and friendly. I like how the environment was modern and clean but not stuffy. We were a fan of the garlic knots and the Happy Hour discount was a bonus. My husband ordered the prosciutto and goat cheese pizza and he really liked the whole garlic cloves baked into the crust. I had the poached egg carbonara which had a really nice presentation and was very moist. My only critique is that the high bar tables by the window are small and we were seated right by a server counter. The staff accidentally bumped into me a few times due to the confined space. Also, my husband could see directly into the men's room from his angle which he found uncomfortable. We'd like to sit elsewhere next time. Had my Birthday dinner there last Tuesday. It was pretty busy, since Tuesday is BOGO pizza night. We had a reservation, so no waiting for a table. Server was sweet and as prompt as she could be. The kitchen took a pretty long time to make our food, but it was busy. We were enjoying our conversation, so not a big deal on the wait time. The decor is cool. Dark woods, kinda industrial with fabulous Balsa wood light fixtures. I would have made the gigantic bar less huge and made the tables a bit larger. It monopolizes the whole place and kinda blocks the way to the restroom. But, that's just a thought. Some kids seemed to enjoy the playground outside while the Moms enjoyed the wine inside. The calamari appetizer was tasty. Served with marinara and garlic aioli, it was tender and not too greasy. The grilled lemon on the side added a nice touch. We had a Margherita and one deluxe pizza. Both were well executed. Thin, thin crust. Good quality cheeses and generous with the basil. Carmelized onions on the deluxe were an interesting twist. The pizza was good, but the dessert was off the chain! Free, because it was my birthday, we got something called Zorrollas (or something like that). Fried pieces of pizza dough, rolled in powdered sugar served with honey. OMG! We were already stuffed, but these heavenly sweet treats were too tempting to pass up! Great Birthday. Does some things brilliantly, others not so much. The good: the calamari was perfect. The green beans that came with my stuffed flounder were awesome. I had the pasta carbonara on a prior visit, and it was delicious and well executed. The pizza is good too. The service is pretty decent. The bad: The sodas are completely flat. Even after our waitress brought me a new one, the problem was still there. For what you get, the prices are a bit much. My crab stuffed flounder cost 18 bucks and was the size of a tapa. It was so small my wife and I both actually laughed when they brought it out. My wife had a salad that was more filling. Luckily my kids did not finish their pizza so I filled up on the leftovers. I understand anything with crab is going to be expensive to serve, but either raise the price a couple bucks and increase the portion size, or better yet just take it off the menu, since it is pretty bland anyway. I bet if a cream sauce was added to the dish, and it was served on a bed of rice, it would have tasted better, and would have been more filling, without costing the restaurant much more to serve....BAM! My girlfriend and I went here last night and everything was GREAT. Friendly greeting upon arrival and promptly seated. Our server (can't remember his name but a very tall guy with a beard) was attentive, checked on us multiple times, refilled waters, etc. Service was awesome. He asked if it was our first time (it was) so he told us to save room for desert. The pizza was delicious, I ordered a large for myself so that I had extra to take home for later. The manager working did a table touch to check in which I really appreciated. As we were wrapping up, the manager brought us out an order of zepploes as a first-timer perk which was a really nice touch. I visited for a second time last night (Sunday). I didn't remember just how yummy the food was. The Stromboli was truly amazing and the dipping sauce was addicting. People at the table raved about the Mulberry meatball pizza, salad (dressing ) and chocolate cake. My boyfriend and I randomly decided to visit this restaurant for dinner as we were hungry and had just left the nearby CVS. I was pleasantly surprised by the decor - it was airy, modern and spacious inside with cute decor. I was expecting more traditional Italian fare (read: more pasta options) but pizza was clearly the star of the show as every table had a pizza stand and their pizza options took over the menu. We ended up ordering a 16" proscuitto and goat cheese pizza and eggplant rollatini appetizer. The rollatini was quite good - it's basically manicotti but with a thin slice of eggplant instead of the pasta sheet rolled around the cheeses. The ratio of sauce to eggplant to cheese was just right and the marinara was fairly flavorful and not too sweet. The pizza also came out pretty quickly but looked a little lackluster. There was plenty of goat cheese but much smaller pockets of proscuitto and arugula compared to other restaurants in Austin where the proscuitto and arugula are piled high. However, the flavors went well together and the pizza was actually pretty good. The crust was thin and crispy. The only downside were the huge chunks of garlic hidden in the pizza. I love garlic as much as the next person but I prefer smaller, diced chunks on a pizza rather than entire pieces from the bulb. The boyfriend and I both ended up having to pick them out. Tip - make sure to pick up a mint stick or two on your way out. I had never seen these offered at a restaurant before but my boyfriend grabbed a few and made me try it. They're Ovation brand and wrapped inconspiciously in a dark brown paper. They're fun and delicious and my favorite after dinner mint! read more

Let me start by saying that the staff treated us like family, I have never been treated so well in a restaurant. And I mean all of the staff are friendly and warm, they work as a team to make your experience the best. The restaurant is immaculately clean, including the bathrooms. It is important to note, that I studied art in Florance, Italy-I married an Italian girl.....this is the best pizza I have ever had! It is even good the next day. Decided to come with some girls friends for lunch. First time I've come. Gorgeous open area, love the layout. Everyone is so nice, great service. Had lunch menu...YUM!!! Ziti with sausage was delish, I was about to explode from eating but kept snacking. Friend's salad look awesome, definitely going to try that next time.
