First time to visit Tony C's, and it will not be the last time. The entire staff is absolutely amazing. They make sure that you are comfortable from the second you sit down until you leave. I can't say enough great things about the food. I will say when I'm in the mood for pizza I'll make the drive over to Tony C's. If you go and leave without getting the Nutella stromboli, you're doing yourself a disservice. It's so good it will cause a break up over who gets the last bite. Definitely worth a visit. read more

A store nearby was not open yet, so decided to stop in for an early lunch on a Thursday. Walking in, the place has a nice decor, clean, and a friendly staff. Sat down and started to look at the menu and immediately wished I had come in on a Tuesday when it is apparently BOGO, which would be a great deal given that a 12 inch pizza here is 15 bucks. Even for a coal fired pizza that seems very pricey. I gave in - at least I got a free garlic knots for checking in, to see if it lived up the price. I ordered the Donato. It was very good - loved that it was saucy. And it was hot and crisp. So overall: Food: + Environment: + Staff: + Price: - Was it gourmet enough to equal $15 for a 12 inch pizza? Maybe if I was considering the atmosphere then yes otherwise I think there is pizza on par elsewhere for a better value - perhaps not in the area though. I'm not too sure what happened to this place since the last time I came but i came in, asked the host if I could sit at the bar, she said yes. I literally sat here for 30 mins too long and not one person greeted me. All of the employees around me talking and chatting it up. Someone came in AFTER I already sat for 30 mins and instantly got greeted with a beer. I can't even make this up. The server/ bartender still didn't even speak to me. At this point I'm fuming. I spoke to a manager not too sure what her name was but she offered to take care of it me. Offered me a gift card. No thanks. I don't want anything for free, that's not my objective. The only thing I wanted was to be acknowledged and I literally couldn't even get that. With the bartender and or server coming back there and walking by me to give someone a drink within minutes of sitting down while I've been there for 30, was on purpose. My husband and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day a little early, so we reserved a table at Tony C's in Avery Ranch. We could not have been more impressed with how well our experience was, as it is every time we visit. From the ambience and relaxation of the atmosphere to the superb service, it was top-notch! My grandmother was Italian and I always loved her Italian cooking, as it was always full of authentic, robust flavor...you get both of these from the flavors at Tony C's with their pizzas and pasta. Our waitress took very good care of us. She didn't hover, but she stopped by asking how everything was and was great about refilling our drinks. She was so friendly and personable too. The manager who served our food was very nice and had an uplifting, positive attitude. All the servers were like this in our observance. We live in the Avery ranch community and we were looking for something close to our house. We stumbled across it while looking through yelp. I really liked how they offer single slices of pizza. My kids both ordered the cheese pizza and I ordered the combo which was a slice of pizza and a small Cesar salad. I usually never see that option during dinner. I have only really seen it during lunch. We ordered the garlic knots as well and I was a little disappointed in them. The yelp reviews and pictures looked really good but we were a little disappointed in them. My husband ordered the spaghetti and he said it was just okay. He said the sauce was a little runny. I had a bad experience on Friday with Door Dash getting my pizza delivered. My first order was lost, so they had Tony C's re-make the pizzas. Then they told me that they couldn't deliver because Tony C's was closed. At 5:00 in the afternoon - did they think I was stupid. Anyway, I called Tony C's directly and spoke with the manager, Edgar. He was incredible. He had re-made the pizzas, and they were waiting. He asked where I lived, and he said he would deliver the pizzas himself. About 10 minutes later, he pulled up just as he had promised. Yesterday and today I've been chatting with Door Cash to see why I was charged when they said I would get a refund. When I couldn't get any assistance, I called Tony C's directly again. This time I spoke with Josh, the manager. He took down my information and said he'd take care of it. I just got off of the phone with Josh again. He called to let me know that he was taking care of everything. I tried to have dinner here a few times but it seems nobody in the Avery Ranch area ever cooks at home (read a line out the door). If you can remember Ciolas in Lakeway this is the same owner. When I received a buy one get one free lunch offer I figured there would be a minimal wait. Well, surprise surprise late lunch equals no wait. Check in using the Yelp App and you get a free garlic knot appetizer. Lunch includes a refillable soft drink or ice tea. I had the Chicken Parm lunch special (I subbed Penne pasta for the spaghetti) my companion had the penne pasta sausage dish. Bring your appetite because these are large portions. My chicken Parm was OK the pasta was a bit overcooked and the penne sausage lunch was not as flavorful as I would have expected. But with our coupon lunch for 2 was $9 and change a great deal so I'm not going to nitpick. Plus, there is enough pasta left to accompany dinner tonight. From what I'm told they do a good pizza here, maybe on my next visit. Oh, they have wine Wednesdays as well with 1/2 price bottles. Tonight, not so much. We walked in (4 adults, 1 kid, 1 baby) and the hostess said, "how can I help you?" I was like, "5 and a baby for dinner." She walked off, came back and said, "I'm sorry, we don't have anything we can push together right now. It'll be 5-10 min." I looked around, there were 2 people at the bar and at most, 6 tables occupied, and several empty tables. We said that was fine and she walked into the kitchen. She comes back a minute later and says, "sorry about that, we won't have anything for you for like 20-25 minutes." I told her that we wouldn't be waiting and she said, "yeah ok, have a good night" and went back to whatever she was doing at her stand. I'm so perplexed as to why they wouldn't seat us when there were tons of empty tables that could have accommodated us. It was such a departure from our preexperiences there. Efficient, informative welcoming and seemingly everywhere at once while making it look easy, a real pro. We just got back from eating at Tony C's an hour ago. Honestly, we didn't even look at the reviews before going which is weird for us but since it was next to my husband's barber shop, we thought we'd try it since we were craving Italian food. I'm not really sure what we were expecting but we both thought the service, the food and the atmosphere were excellent and very surprised. We started with an order of the garlic fries which were absolutely delicious. The garlic aioli was very garlicky and you get that fresh zing with every bite. Then I got a side salad which exceeded my expectations. Everything was so fresh, it even had chickpeas on it! The dressing was amazing. Yes, this is just a side salad! Then we both shared the baked ziti. We asked for gluten free noodles (not an allergy, we just prefer them) and add sausage. WOW. The flavor was SO good we both over ate. The sauce was so fresh and you could taste the fennel. The basil strips were so fresh you could smell it, we were both excited. The ONLY downside, why we had to minus a star is because the noodles were not 100% cooked. They needed about three more minutes in the water. If the person making them tried one, they would have known right away. We decided not to say anything since it was edible (just kind of chewy) and didn't want it to go to waste. If it wasn't for that, we would have given this place a solid 5 out of 5. The service was excellent too. The only item so far i do not rave about is the garlic knots but that's only because i'm a tad garlic obsessed. I prefer my garlic knots have an obnoxious amount of garlic on them that would probably be offensive to most. So close to perfection. Just a couple of hiccups preventing the fifth star, which I shall, of course, describe to my legions of loyal fans -- or my parents, whichever it is that I can talk into reading this review. First, the service is friendly and more than willing to accommodate. Second, the baked mozzarella was phenomenal. With their coal fired oven, the baked mozzarella is better (and lighter tasting) than the ordinary fried cheese that most places sling out. The entrees were also perfect. The spaghetti with meatballs was some of the best pasta I've had in a long time. The pizza (pepperoni and mushroom) was outstanding, ranking right up there with Campisi's in Dallas. I tasted a bite of the chicken parmesan that someone else at our table ordered and was similarly impressed with the coal-fired oven's baking as a replacement for the usual fried chicken breast. So, two very minor negatives holding this restaurant back from Italian perfection. First was the iced tea (Which as some of you know is always a point of contention with me). The iced tea refills tasted as if they had been run through the same filter as the espresso. Iced tea shouldn't normally taste like strong coffee. Second, I'd have appreciated some sort of bread being served with the entrees, as is traditional with most Italian restaurants. All in all, excellent food and service in a very modern decor. I met a friend who lives in Avery Ranch here - I don't know the area at all and was happy to be lead. It has sunny patio with perfectly serviceable and nicely executed but not very exciting food. Child friendly, a reasonable wine list, relatively low prices, and lovely staff. We had garlic knots the goats cheese salad and some pizza. All absolutely fine. But while there was nothing to complain about at all - and it was a pleasant enough place to share a glass of wine in the sunshine - there is also nothing about this place that would make me come back here over trying somewhere new. read more

We decided to try this place because it was recommended by lots of friends. Needless to say, it will not be a re-do for us (we always evaluate each place or meal on whether we we would re-do it). The ambiance was lacking - it was hard to hear, loud, and not very inviting. It was recommended that we try the buffalo chicken mozzarella appetizer. It was alright - nothing amazing. I had 2 glasses of wine, which were lackluster. My pinot grigio tasted like water. The good news is that we went on 2 for 1 pizza (Tuesday nights). That was a redeeming quality. Everyone raves about the the pizza - it was alright. I much prefer Pinthouse Pizza or Homeslice - Tony C's didn't really seem that special at all.
