It's getting harder and harder to find build-your-own personal pizza spots these days, so when I learned about Crust Pizza Co. in Leander, I was happy to hear there would be a go-to for personal pizza for when I am on the north side of the Austin metro. When I got two pizzas to-go on a Sunday, the wait did feel like it took a long time, longer than say at Blaze or Mod Pizza. The pizzas had a nice thin crust but I found them to be on the oily side, so that was a turn off. Not sure if that is part of the crust or if they slather it on for whatever reason. If I had dined in, I think it would have been an overall decent experience based on the decor and roomy seating. As a Leanderthal I'm always on the lookout for a pizza spot that surpasses the standard chains. My kid was craving a calzone, and this place delivered better than some other local options we've tried recently. 5 stars for an exceptional experience. We showed up on a Tuesday and found out kids eat free! We ordered our toddler some spaghetti with meat sauce and a large pizza for the parents. We later added some very tasty pizza rolls because we can never say no to those. Anytime we had an encounter with an employee we were provided with exceptional service. I responded to a survey and was pleasantly surprised to receive a voucher to give the pizza another try since I didn't like it the first time. However, the way the pizza dough is made seems like it wouldn't be any different the second time and so I was hesitant since I don't like wasting food. The garlic knots had lots of garlic and herbs added to the dough so I really liked them. The voucher said, "Any modifications or additions made to product(s) listed above will be made at the restaurants discretion and additional charges may apply." So I called the restaurant to ask if I could use the voucher to try the garlic cheesy bread ($10) instead of getting another gourmet pizza ($12). Or possibly even get garlic knots ($9) since both are less expensive than the pizza. This would possibly give me an additional item I liked and could purchase consistently. The young lady that answered the phone said she wasn't sure and would check. She got back on the phone and apologized telling me they weren't allowed to do that. Very disappointing considering it costs more because there are many more ingredients used for a pizza. I think the goal of the voucher is to get the customer to come back in hopes they would have a different and more positive experience so they continue to come back in the future. This was a missed opportunity for this restaurant. I'll most likely get garlic knots and garlic cheesy bread elsewhere. If the voucher had said that it could only be redeemed for what was listed I wouldn't have asked. Hopefully they'll reconsider this for future customers who ask. read more

This is actually my second visit. The first visit was during staff training when we got freemeals. I didn't want to review then as it was still a training day, and we got pasta (which was pretty good - I'll attach those pics as well). Today we got a 10 inch Margherita with added Italian Sausage. It was really good. The thin crust was soft with the bit of buttery crunch on the bottom. It was quickly served while it was fresh and hot. My one thought is that you need to eat it dine in to get that fresh taste and texture. If you order it takeout, it won't be quite as good when you get it home. Staff were nice and friendly. We prefer the wings crispier, and bigger, but the flavor was good and not too fatty. The Greek salad was very fresh, decent size, the balsamic dressing was a big too sweet ... a straight up Greek dressing would be better. Pizza good, likely better at location. We came here tonight for some pizza and they did not disappoint. The flavor, texture and toppings were really good! I had the blanco and my husband had the big dons both were really good. Our kiddos got a cheese pizza and Mac n cheese. And the portions were also nice for the price. The manager I believe (tall guy dark hair) was really attentive and seemed to generally care about how we liked the food. I keep going back thinking it will get better but it does not. While the food is great, there is something wrong with the system. First time, they forgot the bread and did not put meatballs on the spaghetti and meatballs. Second time they forgot the salad. Third time we ordered ahead rather than eat in and waited an extra 30 minutes after the order was scheduled to be ready. We tried one more time today and my son's pizza came out after 30 minutes and he finished it before I got my food (a salad and pasta). I got my salad at the same time as my spaghetti and meatballs, which again had no meatballs and when I took a bite it was cold. Apparently if you aren't in store you are a second class citizen and get watery salad dressing and barely any ingredients on your pizza. I see now why they call it crust, that seemed like all I got. On a small 10" pizza I had a whole 3 pieces of Canadian bacon, barely any pineapple and a few cashews. Not even close to the picture they showed on the menu. The side of jalapeño ranch literally had the same consistency as water...sad, I was looking forward to this place opening but I'll go back to via 313 as they don't skimp on ingredients or water their dressings down. Nice clean restaurant with good seating. Double crust pizza was ready for takeout in 15 minutes. Canadian bacon, mushroom and smoky mozzarella was very good. Crust Pizza in Leander has an absolute gem of an employee named Kali. I called this morning completely overwhelmed trying to place a large order for Halloween. I needed multiple pizzas and garlic knots and I was juggling different food preferences and allergies. One person cannot have marinara sauce, another cannot have pepperoni, someone else cannot have garlic. I was also trying to figure out how to apply multiple coupon codes to keep the cost down and my brain just shut down. Kali was incredible. She listened patiently to everything, calmed me down, and walked me step by step through the best way to place the order to get exactly what everyone needed and still save money. She was kinder and more patient than I probably would have been in her place. I truly felt like she cared and was not rushing me one bit. With everything I had going on today getting the house ready for Halloween and people coming over, she was a godsend. I cannot say enough great things about her. Was not expecting just how good this was. We ordered the garlic knots not having high expectations. We were floored when they arrived. Huge, fluffy, crunchy and the perfect marinara to go with. At that point we knew our pie was going to be good. The BBQ chicken pizza is by far the best one I've had. Better than the one I had in college which introduced me to that flavor.
