This was our first time at the restaurant. The parking was full when we got there. There are also massive dips in the concrete, so our electric car wasn't happy. The restaurant was quite full. The server got us waters quickly however we had to go get them to take our order. Took about 25 minutes to get 2 chicken curries, lamb biryani, paneer platter, and naans. The restaurant is very cozy & you can tell a lot of thought was put into curating the decor/ambiance. We were sat right away, but it took a couple minutes for our server to greet us. Not a big deal, just seemed to be the only one on the floor for a Friday. We ordered the Lamb Kebab appetizer & I got the Jamun-tini to drink. The flavor of the lamb patties was excellent, I recommend ordering it with garlic naan! (Picture is not how it's plated, my bf decided to go chef mode lol). The only thing that threw me off about the lamb patties was the texture, I would compare it to a pâté maybe. Maybe that is the traditional way it is served, I'm not sure. The Jamun-tini reminded me of a floral tea (but boozy lol). I wasn't blown away by it to be honest. I'll have to try their other drinks. For dinner I got the Chicken Korma... YUMMM!! This was excellent. Very generous servings. Everything came out hot & fragrant. My boyfriend got the Lamb Rogan Josh which was also amazing. It was buttery & rich. Served over the rice...chefs kiss. Veranda is a relatively new Indian restaurant in Leander. We arrived at around 6pm on a Thursday for dinner and the restaurant was empty, and wait staff was missing. We waited for about 7 mins and were about to leave before someone finally emerged from the kitchen to seat us. Once they showed up service was good. The appetizers are a little unique and inventive, which I appreciated. We had the spinach chaat which was crisped to perfection though could've used some more masala/flavor. My partner had the lamb chops which she said were delicious and well done. For mains we ordered malai kofta and chicken biryani both medium spice. The biryani was presented beautifully "dum" style. However it tasted pretty average and lacked flavor. Maybe spicy is the way to go for my palette? The malai kofta was tasty albeit VERY creamy and decadent. Think twice before ordering if you have any dairy intolerances. Paired with some rupee lagers, it was a solid Indian meal all around. read more

I can't believe I procrastinated this long to visit Veranda. Veranda is located where Moonies used to be on 183 just outside of Old Town Leander. Veranda offers both north and southern Indian cuisine. On this visit we started with the Achari Murgh Tikka. This is Tandoor-roasted chicken in tangy pickled spices. I requested their 5-alarm sauce on the side. This App was spiced perfectly with a bit of heat. We also ordered garlic nan which was also delicious, however I wished there was a tad more garlic. I chose Tandoori Chicken and rice and it was classic Tandoori Chicken; marinated perfectly and baked to perfection. My side of 5-alarm sauce really kicked up this dish. Grandson ordered the Chicken Dum Biryani. Buyer beware this dish is easily shared. This dish arrived with bone in chicken, two hard boiled eggs, and saffron rice. Junior stated this was the best Biryani he has ever had. I'm not a Biryani expert but this dish was phenomenal. Two days later I devoured the leftovers. It did get a tad more spicy, which was not a bad deal. Veranda offers a full bar and ample parking. Service was excellent throughout our visit. Our server provided excellent suggestions, for us first but not last timers. There are mucho vegetarian options. Leanderthals will remember when this location was a decent Mexican restaurant. I dined at your restaurant in Leander tonight and wanted to reach out to commend your team. This was easily one of the best Indian dining experiences I have ever had. The ambiance is quaint and perfect for either a family dinner or a date night. I was also thoroughly impressed by the exotic and beautiful cocktails; the bartender clearly takes pride in his craft, and the drink he recommended was excellent. The food was outstanding. I ordered the aloo gobi, the jicama slaw, and the lamb shank. Each dish was prepared with exceptional care. Have no complaints. First time here and loved it. Shay was our server and she was very kind and patient because I had no clue what a lot on the menus was. She assisted in our choices and explained popular plates. The smell hit us when we walked in. Sooo good. We got chicken malai tikka and tandoori chicken. Both were flavor explosions. The tandoori came out sizzling and the other plate was piping hot. The saffron rice was very good. We also tried the laccha paratha which paired nicely. Took the family out to Veranda on a recent visit to Austin -- a family spanning a few generations, so we needed somewhere with good space and a relaxed atmosphere. On that front, Veranda delivered beautifully. The ambience is warm, the seating is comfortable, and it made for a great backdrop for a family dinner. The food was the real highlight. The butter chicken, house biryani, Hyderabadi pepper chicken, and Malabar shrimp were all standouts -- flavorful, well-executed, and clearly prepared with care. The kulfi for dessert was a delicious finish to the meal. Service was the one area that fell short. We had to ask multiple times for silverware, and when we received one naan instead of the two we ordered, the correction came only after some reluctance. It didn't ruin the evening, but it was noticeable. As my niece whispered to me at the end of the night -- the food was great but not the service, and she wasn't wrong. The kitchen more than carries this place. A little more attentiveness from the front of house and this would be a five-star experience easily. read more

Butter chicken and tandoori chicken...super moist and next level flavoring. The garlic naan was so good...soft and the right amount of garlic. Kira, our server, was quick to offer us menus. Also, she was also helpful in offering lunch recommendations. From the outside Veranda Bar & Restaurant looks unassuming. However, when you walk in it is a wow interior! The middle of the restaurant is the focal point...small shiny earth toned tiles accented by an ornate chandelier cover the center of the ceiling. The back wall is covered beautiful Indian wall art. Watchout: you pay the actual price on the menu if you pay in cash. However, if you pay by card, you are charged the restaurant's credit card fee. After the review of our bill, we notice a change in the price of the menu items. There is a trend for restaurants to charge credit card fees, however, most disclose as a service charge or credit card fee. I've been wanting to come here since it opened. We arrived early to beat crowd. The dining space is roomy and thoughtfully decorated. Service was prompt and professional. We had tandoori chicken at two different heat levels, palak paneer, garlic naan, saffron rice and a mango lassi. The lassi is surprisingly rich and featured boba. The rice is aromatic and serves two. The paneer is generous in the palak purée. The chicken is surprisingly coated in the sauce that gives it a little heat, not just the dry roast that comes from the tandoor, and I honestly think that's the secret that won over Bobby Flay. Was out running errands and stopped in here as a last-minute idea. We have never eaten Indian food, so we didn't know what to choose. A look online showed us that butter chicken was a great meal to start with. I ordered mine not spicy, and my daughter ordered medium spicy. We also got an order of garlic naan to go with it. Our meal was beautifully presented to us and tasted phenomenal. The naan was perfect for sopping up the sauce after I was finished. Since that meal, I can not get the dish out of my mind. We ordered to-go from Veranda and it was excellent. We will be repeat customers. For a starter, we ordered Spinach Chaat. It is fried spinach that comes with a yogurt dressing - delicious. For an entrée we ordered Butter Chicken. The dish was superb! Served with rice. Of course if you order Indian food Naan is a must have. We ordered the Garlic Naan - excellent. The staff were very lovely. We were so impressed with the food, we called Veranda to let them know how much we enjoyed the meal. Portions are generous, which is a plus. Came for dinner last week. Service was pretty good, waitress was friendly and attentive but a little odd; the owner or whoever he was that brought out the food was very nice and proud of the food. The chicken65 was different than we were used to be very good, we ate it all. The tika masala and butter chicken was also unique but good. Naan was excellent, loved the papadum appetizer. My son was visiting from NYC. He loves Indian cuisine. Of course we had to try Veranda. He ordered for us and I loved it all! So did he! I got the famous Chicken Tandoori, beating Bobby Flay with this dish, My son got a Chicken Biryani, both dishes had two different rice, one with saffron, one fragrant. Both cooked to perfection. We also had Chicken Poppers as an appetizer which were excellent. I asked for everything not spicy. It came as ordered with just a hint of spiciness! We also go lasses, and Chai Teas. Also excellent. I got a Signature Trifle dish to go and again it was incredible. I am so thrilled to have a restaurant of this caliber here in Leander. I will be going often, trying everything on his menu. I have now visited this restaurant 5 times and EVERY time I had a wonderful experience. It amazes me that we have this high quality of a restaurant in Leander. For appetizers, I recommend the Okra Kurkuri Bhindi and--only if you are eating onsite--the Spinach Chaat. Both are wonderful! My family and I have tried different entrees every time we have dined there and can recommend the Tandoori anything (they have a real tandoor), the Lamb anything. Other than those, my husband's favorite so far is the Hyderabadi Goat Dum Biryani. and mine is the Jinga Shrimp Malabar. Their Garlic Naan is the best I have had anywhere. The restaurant is kid friendly too. If you like, there is an enclosed patio where kids can move around more freely. read more

My boyfriend and I went in on a Sunday afternoon just looking to eat some good food, his buddy had recommended this place awhile back and so we thought we'd give it a go, and first of all the food was OUTSTANDING so so so delicious, I've never had such amazing curry in my life, on top of that the atmosphere and ambience was beautiful and so well put together. I ordered a malai kofta and malai broccoli (starter). Both were amazing. While the veg and goat dum biryanis were not so good (a lot of pepper doesn't mean good spicy food). A good spicy food should have masalas (I believe the food is being catered to Americans as well which could have mild down the spice level). Mango lassi is the best I had in US till date. The biryani took a lot of time to arrive. I will update the stars if I see changes. Ambiance is great! read more
