I don't like to write reviews like this, but was really hoping, based on some reviews by others, this place was going to be better! I know this restaurant took over the "Birria taco" place that used to there (and they were not much better-at least they had good service). As soon as you walk in, you can see the open windows to the kitchen (which the other place had, but it looks like they put glass in it, so you can "pass thru" food like other place did). I saw a few people sitting at one of the long tables, and figured they were getting served. I looked around and saw the Juice machines to the right and a couple of large order type screens. Did not see any type of hostess stand (like last place had). I waited a few min and nobody came out from back or anything, and then, I saw, behind a large sign, somebody was sitting in a chair. It was a older gentlemen, and I said "I have a couple questions about your menu" (* I found info thru here, to find out what they had). Now, you would think, at this point, he would have got up and wanted to aide me and be a "little excited" to have a customer''...nope. He continued to sit in the chair and answered my questions. I asked if he took the order and he replied "No, you order off screens over there, and we will let you know when ready". Ok...very weird. I should have left then, but still thought I would give it a try. While I waited at the table, the group that was sitting, had a couple more people join then, and realized nobody was coming to "wait on them". So, one of them, did as I did, approached the guy in the chair, and asked how to order, and he replied the same. Again, weird. Then, a person came in, think to pick up an order (like thru Door Dash or something), and the guy was in the kitchen helping the one cook they had...you could see thru the window. The lady was was holding her phone and kept looking around to see if there was a spot for "pick up". She tried to approach the kitchen "door (like half swinging door) and both of the them never looked up. Finally, the guy came out with my food and she said she was there for a "pick up" and he told her, "just a few more mintutes". When I got home, and actually tried the food, it did not get better. I got hummus and pita bread. The hummus had not much flavor, with oil and couple of chick peas on top (did not help). The pita bread was very thin and flat and cut into small triangles. My husband got the two chicken kabobs (*one was cut chicken and one was ground chicken) with rice....both were just ok. I had the Two Beef Koobideh Skewers, and was dry and not much flavor. The rice, I had to add Siracha to, as it was dry too. I am sorry, but with many other Mediterranean restaurants in the area, I won't be back to this one :(!

I'm always excited when a new restaurant a little out of the ordinary opens in my area. In this case, it was a little far from my neighborhood, but Mediterranean and Persian food holds a special place in my heart and taste buds. And with all the bad things happening in the world, I was happy to patron a Persian place. The place is not one you will find by accident, it's a bit hidden in a mixed business area next to a church and some car mechanic place. Inside is simple, with a few tables, some communal, some not. They put two tablets in the front to order, and they work well and have easy to understand pictures of the food. That way, they don't need a host stand or a waiter which helps keep costs down. In the back, 3 men are busy cooking the food and bring it to your table. We tried 4 things. Mast-o-khiar, which is the cucumber yogurt salad. Very refreshing. Kashkeh Bademjan, which is an Iranian dish with eggplant and various other things. This was delicious and my wife's favorite. Two Beef Koobideh Skewers Lamb Koobideh Skewer Both skewers were nice and tender, well seasoned and served with a beautiful long grain rice and 2 roasted tomatoes. My favorite was the lamb. In the table, you have sumac to add flavor of you need it. Overall, a very pleasant lunch. We will be back.

You absolutely must try Zeytun. Everything is authentic. The kabobs are huge and delicious. I loved the chicken. All of the food was made fresh. The tzatziki and hummus are so good! The owner is so kind and explained all of the dishes to us and made recommendations on what to order. The portions were very generous with plenty to share on the lunch specials. Will definitely be back. The dining room accommodates large and small groups and is kid friendly.

First time to this place and decided to try the chicken pita wrap. It was so good!!! Had so much flavor and the chicken was perfectly cooked!!! The prices are so reasonable as well! My new favorite Mediterranean place! We will be back!!!

Really really delicious food, this place just opened up close our home and we tried it yesterday we had to come back again today. Their prices are very fair and the food is beyond delicious. The owner is very nice and they just gained some new regulars in us 10/10!!!!

Owner Bob always welcome every guest with a smile. Spicy chicken koobidehs are very delicious. Wraps are great and lamb shank (which is only available on certain days) is perfectly cooked and awesome. I haven't dined in but ambiance looks nice.

I had the eggplant and beef stew, Khoresh Bademjan, and Kashke Bademjan. Both were excellent and complementary despite te similarities. I liked the balanced of yogurt/whey against the eggplant mix with the starter. Someone else had Fesenjan (Persian Pomegranate Chicken), and it was delightful with its mix of sweetness, sourness, and balance that it tempted me away from considering ordering more eggplant dishes the next time I returned. The service was also exceptionally attentive, hospitable, and sociable. The ambiance was professional, fitting, and not overbearing. The deserts were also well portioned and easily shareable. My favorite was the Sholeh Zard, a Persian take on a rice pudding. I didn't see it on the menu, but they had some available. It was a nice mix of sweetness, florals, and spices without being too over the top in any quality. The price seemed fair. It didn't seem like a massive bargain or poor value. The portions were fairly large, but were not excessively massive. Everyone in my party had leftovers, but we are not big eaters and we ordered a starter and two deserts to share for the party of 4. A very slight negative was the rice was cooked a bit inconsistently giving it an uneven texture, but I was the only who noticed in our party. It may have been intentional, the slight crunchiness/hardness did create an interesting mouth feel. I know there are some dishes that do this intentionally. A minor flaw if that would not ruin a masterful meal and experience.

Atmosphere: Quiet, comfortable, and more "family dinner" than flashy date-night. It's a simple dining room, but it's clean and relaxed--easy to actually talk without yelling over music. The kind of place where you can tell regulars come in a lot. Food: This is what you come for. I went the kabob route--juicy, charred in the right spots, and seasoned so you actually taste the meat (not just smoke). Rice was fluffy and came out hot, and the grilled tomato/veggies were a perfect add-on. Also grabbed a yogurt-based side (maast style) and it was super refreshing between bites--especially if you're doing anything spicy or super savory. If you've never had Persian food, this is a solid entry point: it's flavorful without being intimidating, and everything feels filling without being heavy. Service: Friendly and patient--no rushing, no weird attitude, just genuinely helpful. They'll explain dishes if you're unsure, and everything came out at a good pace. It felt like they wanted you to enjoy your meal, not just flip the table. Wrap-up: If you're in NW Austin and want legit Persian comfort food--kabobs, rice, stews, the whole deal--Shandeez is a really easy recommendation. Great "treat yourself" dinner that still feels warm and low-key.

It was their very first time trying Mediterranean food, and they absolutely loved it! We started with two different types of hummus served with pita. For the main course, we shared the Chicken Shish Taouk with sides of beet salsa and Lebanese potatoes--everything was cooked beautifully and tasted amazing. Honestly, the highlight of the meal for us was the drinks. The mint juice and beet juice were so refreshing and easily the best part! Parking is plentiful right in front of the restaurant. We came by on a Saturday around 1 PM, worried it might be packed, but it was actually pretty quiet. You can sit anywhere you like, grab a plate, and pay when you're done. The space is large and open, with three full rows of food and drinks plus a dedicated station for fruit and desserts. Everything was fresh, not overly salty, and there were plenty of options. My favorites were the hummus with eggplant (so flavorful with great texture), the salad and cucumber salad (fresh and refreshing), the dolma (perfectly done), gyro (tender and tasty), baked cauliflower (so good), fried chicken (juicy, crispy, and not salty), falafel (extra crunchy), and the lentil soup (simple but delicious). If ambiance is your religion, there are prettier temples in Austin. This review is not about vibes. This review is about food, price, quality, and the people who feed you like they mean it. Greek food is deceptively simple. It's not complicated cuisine--it's honest cuisine. And that's exactly why it's hard to get right. When Greek food misses, it really misses. When it hits, it reminds you why humans invented olive oil and fire. Tino's hits. The Greek salad alone is worth defending in court. Crisp, bright, properly acidic, unapologetically salty--this is not a sad bowl of lettuce pretending to be Mediterranean. The gyro is what a gyro should be: well-seasoned meat, not greasy, not dry, tucked into a warm pita that understands its role in the universe. The baba ghanouj is smoky and balanced, the spanakopita flaky and comforting, the falafel crisp on the outside and tender where it matters. Everything tastes like it was made by someone who actually cares whether you enjoy your lunch. Now yes--before anyone sharpens their Yelp knives--Tino's doesn't really do shawarma. That's fine. Not everyone needs to be everything. A restaurant that knows what it does well and does it consistently earns respect. This omission does not knock them out of five-star territory. It proves restraint. Here's where Tino's quietly destroys the competition: value. A gyro plate--meat, pita, three sides, plus a salad--will run you about thirteen bucks. Thirteen. In Austin. With enough food to make you question whether dinner is even necessary. This is a full day's nourishment, spiritually and calorically. And you should tip. Not because you're supposed to, but because the people there are genuinely kind, helpful, and unpretentious. They answer questions. They don't rush you. They seem happy you're there. That matters. Tino's isn't fancy. It's better than fancy. It's reliable, generous, honest food made by good people at a fair price. That's five stars every time.
