Roots on the square in Georgetown had some good BBQ chicken pizza. The queso was okay, same with the burger. The live music was a little too loud (didn't know he was going to be there) but overall pretty good spot.

Food was good We sampled pizza and burgers Beer was ample choices Cannolis were tasty dessert Ambiance was nice Like an old country saloon But the temperature inside the business was awful So hot Sweating profusely I mentioned to the bartender it would be great to turn ac on and she just rolled her eyes and says Yes it's so hot I dunno if they are trying to save money or what but it would prevent me from visiting until January or so Open mic night Was kinda cool Wasn't a great experience but not terrible Sweaty though!

This review is solely on the bar and drinks. Walked in and the food smelled amazing! I wish we didn't eat dinner so we could get a pizza. We just got drinks for the square. The bartender was very nice and put our drinks in to go cups. The atmosphere is very cute and down to earth. They even have live music, there was a band setting up to play.

Well, maybe everyone is tired from the week... It smells like burnt pizza, which they make pizzas so totally likely that is what happened. However, it was noxious!! The cups we were given for our drinks were gross dirty! They kindly wiped out new ones and gave them to us. The Dr Pepper wasn't hooked up, k ky carbonated water, the Lemonade was mostly water and the sweet tea was weak. $3 for waters Meatball sub- cheese and sauce was the perfect temp unfortunately the cold meatball made the sandwich gross. The Korean tacos were a bit anemic but flavor was good. This isn't our first time here and we will be back but hopefully we will have a better experience.

Really disappointed with our dinner experience. We ordered 2 Roots salads, which according to the menu are supposed to come with chicken. When our server brought the salads out, she said "2 salads with no meat". We said that no, we did want the chicken. She said that chicken would be a $4 upcharge. We said that the menu didn't say that, and she offered to bring out a side of grilled chicken to add to our salad. She came back later and said the chef reiterated that the chicken was an upcharge, and she would have to get a card from us to charge for it. By that point we had looked at the menu again and verified that the menu did not specify an upcharge. We pointed it out on the menu, and she then tried to insist that the "C" next to the soup indicated the $4 upcharge for chicken and got annoyed when I asked "isn't that for a 'cup' of soup?" She was quite rude after that, and we told her to forget the chicken. The cashier didn't ask if I wanted to add chicken or specify that it was an upcharge, in fact he barely spoke to me. The salads themselves were disappointing, very little toppings and low-quality greens. We both barely ate them. We definitely won't be returning due to the food, service, and lack of transparency in pricing.

Service was good, one guy seemed to be running everything (bar, taking orders, waiter), I got the trash can pizza (everything on it) tasted pretty good but got soggy quick probably due to all the toppings, my husband got the Korean tacos which he said were pretty decent. There was live music (Sunday afternoon) it was very loud and just ok. Lots of seating downstairs and up.

My first time here but it was an in and out. There looks like they have live music, which is always a plus. It give another pizza option on the square. The pizza was actually quite good! I will definitely be going back!

Live music on a cold rainy Sunday!

Another old time, home cooking type diner, with generous portions, fast friendly service, and small town country ambiance. A must stop if you're tired of the big city/chain type eateries, where the customers are more interested in their phones/laptops, than their dining companions. The Hop Queen got the schnitzel, which was a solid, stick to your ribs choice. The two sides, homemade mashed potatoes, and the squash were almost like déjà vu flavour, back when we were kids. I got the 4 Alarm burger, and it was tasty, spicy and filling. Great onion rings, which I am partial too, were nice and crunchy, held up well (no "bite and pull all the onion out problems"). Good enough, and scenic enough country drive, to make this a destination spot. Check out the daily specials, looks pretty inviting!

Some of the menu can be a little confusing. There are some items that come with two sides that do not mention that. And with the burgers you have to pay for sides separately. We opted for a chips and salsa, meatloaf (with greens and mashed potatoes as sides), a burger (fries cost extra), and chicken strips with broccoli and another side that I forgot. Chips and salsa were bad, but salsa needed a little salt. Greens were not fresh, potatoes were bland--gravy not good. Meatloaf wasnt bad. Burger was just okay. Chicken strips were just okay as well. Looks like they have a beer garden outside and being that it is a German/Texan fusion type spot maybe they do some time of events/entertainment...not sure. Would be interesting though. The food was mediocre and bland and the service not that great. They charge a fee to use card--but also do not give the coin portion of your change--which I kinda feel is another fee just to pay cash. Last I checked they still make nickels, dimes, and quarters. This spot is a little out of the way so I don't think that we would return.

Parking was easy and the security line was efficient. Our table was in section E. The wait staff was quick with our food order. There were self serve vats of ice water just inside that I can attest stayed full throughout the opening act and concert making the Texas mid July temps bearable with hydration. There are misters and huge fans to help with this throughout the venue as well. The ambiance is very comfortable even in the heat and there are huge oak trees to help with shade. A Stone Temple Pilots cover band opened which we did not expect. This made our total time at the venue over 4 hours, but both cover bands were fantastic and kept the audience focused on the show. The only real issue that we had was just in seating placement. The standing room only area is in front of the E section. The high top tables and placement back from the crowd made it so you could still see most of what was happening, but we ended up joining the standing crowd for some parts of the show to see better which was better for dancing anyway.

I've…read moreexperienced outstanding performances in spaces of all sizes, and it's genuinely a joy to have a venue like this in the Cedar Park area. That said, the volume here is simply too loud. The acoustic design of the building seems to trap and amplify extremely high decibel levels, making the sound piercing rather than enjoyable. I made a real effort to find a spot where I could clearly hear the music without discomfort, but the only tolerable area was inside. The bands, stage setup, lighting, and seating arrangements are all excellent. The talent on stage deserves to be fully enjoyed. Unfortunately, the excessive volume makes it difficult to dance, relax, or appreciate the music--especially given the relatively small size of the venue. At times, the sound level feels more appropriate for a massive outdoor amphitheater than a space like this. The speaker towers themselves appear to be positioned fine; the issue seems to be overall volume and acoustics rather than equipment placement. I strongly encourage the venue to conduct a thorough review of the acoustics and sound levels. With some adjustment, this could be an outstanding live music experience.

We were a table of 12, but that wasn't really the problem. One person who ordered, her food was given to someone else. When she inquired, she ordered again and it took over an hour to get her food. Her second beer never arrived. Unfortunately, she said this is the norm here. She comes here often, mainly for the entertainment. The server was quick to take our original orders, but follow up was zero. No attempts to get second drinks, any other food, nothing. It wasn't that busy, so I'm not sure why the service was so bad. I flagged him down for my second drink after waiting over an hour, and my friend was still waiting for her beer. It was like our table was in the ignore zone. I would come back again, but would probably order from the bar for drinks. 20% tip was included in the bill because of large party. I'm sure my friend was pissed about that considering her service was terrible. Mine was meh. Overall it was a great evening with friends. The good outweighed the bad, but don't expect great service. I had the opportunity to hit Rocking J Piano Bar and what a night it was! Rocking J is easy to find off the 183 and parking is plentiful, unlike the horrendous parking adventure downtown. The joint is located in a corner unit off Whitestone Blvd and extremely inviting. Music starts a little later at night and if you want a table you need to reserve one. I arrived at 7pm for the 8pm show and there were a few patrons upon arrival. The joint is clean without that beer-stained floor smell and the bartenders are cool and fast slinging suds. Prices aren't bad and all the people that I met were extremely cool, many different ethnicities were hanging out, while the age group was 30+ so it's not the college crowd. The attire ranged from men in tshirts, flip flops, I saw some "typical cowboy hats" and women in shorts and dresses, up to business casual. It's basically a "come as you are" mentality in a very relaxed atmosphere. Please note while they don't serve food, they do allow outside grub, just bring some for everyone, Also the bathrooms are decent not spectacular however you won't need to run down the street. The non-reserved tables are limited and as the show time creeps closer, they start to fill up but there was standing room. The crowd that was there was a pretty lively crew and seemed like pretty decent people. In the corner is a piano and on my night a drum kit. I can't remember the pianist / singer's name but he was really good while the drummer acted as backup, basically enhancing the songs with a steady beat. The guy could flat out sing and I swear I couldn't stump him with my diverse requests. Among the songs were The Cure - Love Song, Alice in Chains - The Rooster, Jimmy Buffet - Margaritaville, Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here. Perhaps the jingle from Sesame Street would have stumped him, but I didn't consider it at the time. Overall, the place feels safe with "good folk" who all just want to have a good time. The staff is friendly and fast and the prices fair. I will definitely be back and hope to see you there!
