We have gone to Roots for dinner before the lighting of the square in Georgetown for about 6 years. We got there about 4:50 which I thought was early. My husband ordered a sandwich which came in about 30 minutes. We ordered a large cheese pizza which took another hour to come. We waited 90 minutes for the pizza. We were told they were busy but I noticed no one had food for a long time. I wonder if the 'to go' orders were prepared first? Anyway, we were disappointed in the time it took to get a pizza, and that part of our family meal came out a full hour before the pizza. read more

Roots on the square in Georgetown had some good BBQ chicken pizza. The queso was okay, same with the burger. The live music was a little too loud (didn't know he was going to be there) but overall pretty good spot. read more

This review is solely on the bar and drinks. Walked in and the food smelled amazing! I wish we didn't eat dinner so we could get a pizza. We just got drinks for the square. Roots is a must when visiting Georgetown, the most BEAUTIFUL Town Square in Texas...My go to is the kitchen sink... house made pizza sauce, fresh mozzarella, Canadian, bacon, pepperoni, sausage, bacon, red onions, red and green, bell peppers, artichoke hearts, black olives, mushrooms, garnished with baby leaf spinach. So I have LOVED ROOTS pizza! I've turned many folks onto their pizza. It has literally been my husband and I go to favorite authentic pizza! However, after traveling this summer and not going to Roots for awhile, we excitedly went to grab our favorite pizza. Unfortunately something has changed. They put less toppings on the pizza and it has lost some of its pizzazz. We're super sad and are wondering if management has changed. We'll definitely give it another chance but it seemed as though the "Kitchen Sink" pizza got 1/2 of the amount of toppings it did before the summer. Maybe ingredients are more expensive...I'm not sure but I was definitely disappointed. read more

Well, maybe everyone is tired from the week... It smells like burnt pizza, which they make pizzas so totally likely that is what happened. However, it was noxious!! The cups we were given for our drinks were gross dirty! They kindly wiped out new ones and gave them to us. The Dr Pepper wasn't hooked up, k ky carbonated water, the Lemonade was mostly water and the sweet tea was weak. $3 for waters Meatball sub- cheese and sauce was the perfect temp unfortunately the cold meatball made the sandwich gross. The Korean tacos were a bit anemic but flavor was good. This isn't our first time here and we will be back but hopefully we will have a better experience. read more

Really disappointed with our dinner experience. We ordered 2 Roots salads, which according to the menu are supposed to come with chicken. When our server brought the salads out, she said "2 salads with no meat". We said that no, we did want the chicken. She said that chicken would be a $4 upcharge. We said that the menu didn't say that, and she offered to bring out a side of grilled chicken to add to our salad. She came back later and said the chef reiterated that the chicken was an upcharge, and she would have to get a card from us to charge for it. By that point we had looked at the menu again and verified that the menu did not specify an upcharge. We pointed it out on the menu, and she then tried to insist that the "C" next to the soup indicated the $4 upcharge for chicken and got annoyed when I asked "isn't that for a 'cup' of soup?" She was quite rude after that, and we told her to forget the chicken. The cashier didn't ask if I wanted to add chicken or specify that it was an upcharge, in fact he barely spoke to me. The salads themselves were disappointing, very little toppings and low-quality greens. We both barely ate them. We definitely won't be returning due to the food, service, and lack of transparency in pricing. read more

For starters, the service was non-existent. We waited there for several minutes without even a "we'll be right with you". The beer was flat, unless you order a bottle not the tap, the food was so greasy it was not edible. Its only saving grace was the live band. Roots please do better! read more

Honestly seems like it would be a cool place to go for a chill dinner. I had the Baja pizza with the gluten free crust and it was soo good, next time I will try it on regular crust but I got gluten free bc that's the smallest size they had, it was kinda like a crunchy thin crust but still good ! Well I was excited about trying this place. My cousin ordered through Uber. We both got different types of their burgers. We choose rosemary potatoes as our side. Both burgers were requested to be cooked medium. I also requested no veggies on mine. When they came both burgers were extremely well done to the point the meat was hard to chew. Neither or us got the potatoes and the just the other choice of chips. I know they read how we wanted our burgers because mine did not have any veggies on it. I will say the meat had a nice flavor but was so over done I ended up giving mine to the dogs after trying to eat about a fourth of the burger. We both threw the chips in the trash. We placed an order this past weekend through DoorDash and I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered their nachos vegetarian style and their margherita pizza, both were so yummy. I love that they're open late I believe we placed our order close to 9pm which was super last minute for us and I was surprised they didn't cancel. They have a large variety of food on their menu, I would love if there was more vegetarian/vegan options but the options that they did have were very good. I'd get give 3.5/5 stars. Food is good (not spectacular but worth going) and service is pretty good. Three reasons can't give a full 4 or 5 stars: 1. No A/C 2. The music is too loud (hard to hear conversation next to you) 3. The few live musicians I've heard weren't good. We had a pizza delivered and I can say we will not be ordering again!!! The crust was soggy and the pizza wasn't even hot or warm!!!!

I'll be honest; when my wife suggested we stop in here as we were looking for a spot to eat, I was a little hesitant - from the street it looked a little rough, like an escapee from Sixth Street, but thank heavens I listened to her, went in, and enjoyed myself immensely. You should go too. The Bistro name had me a little confused, but don't let that stop you. What I found was a cozy, worn-down little place filled with couples, singles, families and yes, even a few teenagers, just hanging out enjoying the solid food and good drinks. There was even a three-piece band playing (no cover but make sure you fill that tip jar) the night we stopped in. Order at the bar, pick a seat and your server will deliver your pizza, sandwich, salad and drinks soon. Downstairs seating and a second-floor wrap around balcony with more seating and maybe some games: not sure about that as I never went upstairs. Prices are very fair, the beer is cold (and openers are attached to posts around the room so you can open your own) and the wine selection is small but good. How good were our burgers? We still can't stop comparing them as the standard when we go to other places. And the people? Friendly, down to earth and happy to see you. Look, Roots is not going to win any awards for its menu or architecture, but if you've had a long week and want to hang out at a happy, comfortable spot where everybody gets to be whoever they are (and the food is good!) this is a damn good choice.
